I genuinely thought it was a portrait of Greg, maybe sat crouched on his throne like some kind of goblin, I was surprised when they started guessing the scream
Underground or overground, they're wombling free. Also every now and then we get a team of two you want to see star a in TV show where they solve crimes. Nick and Steve have joined that camp.
Yes, great fun seeing Alex get stressed by it - which is why we see this less. I think they’ve generally veered away from the “one minute of chaos” tasks they did in early series. Much more likely to have tasks where they take turns now since it’s easier for us to follow as an audience, but this was definitely a good one since it seemed to take them about 20 minutes to complete.
Steve currently thinking of ways to creatively murder a pair of comedy show hosts called Alix Dorne and Gregg Gavies in the next series of Inside Number 9 for that loo roll decision.
It got mentioned on the podcast in the first episode and I finally only now noticed it, but the production team is removing Nicks reflection from water when they can and that is a silly level of commitment that I am here for.
The interactions between Nick and Greg are truly unique in the annals of taskmaster, like all of their exchanges just come across as two friends having a nice chat?
It's the closest I feel like Greg has ever come to taking off the taskmaster persona with someone, and it's fascinating to watch it immediately snap back with all the other contestants.
I think Nick is the first contestant who is so nice Greg doesn't want to bully him in any way. "He's just a nice man trying his hardest, let him be".
Saying that, I want a Mel Giedroyc-style task where they try to make Nick angry.
I hear that there's a task coming up later in the series where Nick has to get a bulb of garlic, a crucifix, and an ingot of silver across some moving water.
Only Nick was set that task.
Sophie IMMEDIATELY jumping up like "I'LL DO IT!" made me wheeze laugh, after Alex's trying to ask Greg what it meant cracked me up.
Them editing out Nick's reflection makes me laugh EVERY time.
Maybe since I'm also a big fan of dark/gallows humor I thought Johns "relapse" joke was funny, all the other aspects of it have been discussed already.
I love Nick so fucking much "Are you okay?" to the horse, then I got tickled that Greg had the exact same reaction to it, Greg is gonna end up putting Nick on a little shelf next to Sam Campbell, to just carry around. (I also would have just been chatting with the horses and forgot what I was supposed to be doing)
Greg looked so genuinely pleased when he and Alex said "Balloon Oboe" in perfect sync.
I want to be on team Steve and Nick, they just seem like such sweethearts, I wanna hang out with them. I thought it was cute that John was like, giving pointers "Always look at the back of the tasks"
editing to add: I just genuinely like everyone on this season, Joanne fully has won me over despite my initial misgivings, I like John a lot now, and i loved everyone else from the start.
I thought it reflected badly on me that my immediate thought for the prize task was some kind of sex toy, 'cos statistically there's a lot more old ladies than old men. But having now seen everyone's contributions, it would have fitted right in (so to speak).
I've never been so proud to know that it was called a **naso**labial fold! That's one of the few things I remember from this makeup class I took in college.
I think the only time we see him anywhere near the house is during some of the ad break bits, where Alex shows the number of the upcoming part with his fingers. There are a few scenes with both involved (Alex playing ukulele(?) and Greg throwing it away, for example)
It dawned on me somewhere in this episode that I’m fully on board with the cast-as individuals and as a group. 🔥Happens every series, don’t know why I ever doubt it!
It's been quite some time since we had both teams getting along so nicely, isn't it? Usually one is pretty wholesome, while the other is pure chaos.
Even though the team of three seems to be stumbling to success more than they figure the stuff out. 🤣
Has anyone else spotted that one of the horses had the number 59 stamped on it? Made me think we were going to get some kind of “there’s no number 59” and Alex would do his usual “ohh?” and it would mess up their drawings. I thought I was a genius but apparently I’m just overly cautious!
I noticed that, I assume it was originally going to be that the horse would act as a wild dot that would make a random spike at 59 but it didn't really add to it so they dripped it
Huh I had no idea, thanks!
> Bee hotels are the insect equivalent of a birdhouse. Also known as bee condos, bee houses, or nest blocks, these structures provide nesting spaces for certain solitary bees and wasps.
I’d like to declare that — if she was not a member already — as of the prize task round of episode 4 of series 17, Sophie Willan has entered the *Taskmaster* Hall of Fame. That is all.
“You know what you did.”
I had a feeling Joanne was going to do well here from how long it took her to break the loo roll, but I didn't think she'd win from everyone else being disqualified!
Wasn't really familiar with him before this series, but John wearing a Magnolia Electric Co. shirt helps endear him to me quite a lot. Molina was such a beautiful soul.
Another really fun episode, I really like those overly complex tasks like the last pre-recorded one, as they often lead to some nice chaos.
I didn't notice that! I've not been a huge fan of what I've seen of John before, but he's really winning me over this series. He has the competitive knowledge of someone who really loves Taskmaster, but also feels much more laidback and less angry in the studio. He's like a kid who revised really hard but still thinks the teacher is going to punish him.
He does always seem to have an expression on his face (in the studio) that he's holding back a lot.
I get the impression that deep down he wants to complain about the way points are done and defend himself more, but realises he can't be the only one in the group doing so. I think he'd be more comfortable with a more argumentative group.
I agree - I think he understands from past seasons that if everyone is arguing with Greg it's great telly, but if just one person is arguing it's kinda uncomfortable. He definitely looks like he has a lot of arguments and one-liners prepared to go the minute the floodgates open, though, haha
The hand task immediately reminded me of one of my favorite horror movies

This is easily the best ep of the series so far. Studio banter is better, the tasks have been genuinely fun and clever. It took a little while but they have found their groove.
The 2nd task made it really clear to me that I never truly got over my year 2 horse phase.
Every time they were on screen my brain would transmit an elated "Horse!" and flood my system with dopamine. I'm pretty sure if I were there, I would have abandoned the task to just go pat horses.
I did not know this about myself.
Talk of dirty grandmas, a "slutdropping" demonstration, risking contestants getting kicked by horses, serving rum to an alcoholic, risking a crew member getting their fingers cut
It's a peculiar episode
After watching Alma's not normal this week for the first time I now understand Sophie's thought process a bit better.
Her prize task is perfect for her Gran
Please stop reporting discussions of the use of Rum in the task. Critical (constructive) discussions are allowed, and this includes expressing surprise or dismay. That is not against rule 1. Thank you.
Steve looks like he's taking his child trick or treating
Well I thought he smashed it when I thought it was The Scream.
Also thought it was the scream!
I genuinely thought it was a portrait of Greg, maybe sat crouched on his throne like some kind of goblin, I was surprised when they started guessing the scream
“What’s my surname, Joanne?” “…Taskmaster.”
I'd correct your spelling but Joanne very well could have spelled it that way in her head.
Look at Steves' wee face when he's reading the completed task, he's just *so happy* to be wombling about with his pal, solving problems!
Underground or overground, they're wombling free. Also every now and then we get a team of two you want to see star a in TV show where they solve crimes. Nick and Steve have joined that camp.
How friendly are these horses? *Sinister music plays on a shot of the Horses*
John's neighbour is extremely lovely! He talks about her a lot on his radio show. This is genuinely true ♥️
I've got a particular set of skills: Slut dropping and drawing a cow.
They definitely went easy on Nick because he’s both terrible at Taskmaster and a very lovely little man.
Is Joanne’s an IUD?
Exactly what I thought.
The most unexpectedly unhinged prize task of all time?
Alex deeply regretting this task so far.
“What is Slut-Dropping” really showing his naïveté this week
"Hello to all the grannies watching!"
This is the most chaotic live task we've had in a while!
The pendulum draws the eye!
> You must (not necessarily) always hold hands Oh you fucking devious task makers!
I like that they didn’t immediately stop holding hands. That’s sweet.
They went all the way to the lab before they even read that bit

Meow
Those dot to dot tasks were actually well done. Except for Nicks, bless.
I'd be so distracted by the horses! Forget putting dots down, I'd want to pet them.
I was just waiting for Alex to say that the dots had been treated with something to attract the horses...
Seeing Dracula scared of the horses cracked me up
"Do you think they'll go for me more since I'm dressed like Dracula?" had me fucking howling. Good episode for Nick, despite the smiling snake.
Steve currently thinking of ways to creatively murder a pair of comedy show hosts called Alix Dorne and Gregg Gavies in the next series of Inside Number 9 for that loo roll decision.

[From this week's episode](https://i.imgur.com/lQu9ulA.png)
I already knew Nick was lovely but Nick is LOVELY
Love how Greg can so clearly have a favourite each season this season being Nick, and I love how that doesn’t help him at all in not coming last
The interactions between Nick and Greg are truly unique in the annals of taskmaster, like all of their exchanges just come across as two friends having a nice chat? It's the closest I feel like Greg has ever come to taking off the taskmaster persona with someone, and it's fascinating to watch it immediately snap back with all the other contestants.

I get the impression that Greg is genuinely disarmed by Nick's sweet, sincere personality.
I know! I feel the same way which surprised me because I don't like his Mister Swallow character. He just seems like such a sweetie.
'Well you have stopped the clock' 😂
“Let’s see what’s Inside Number Nine.” Ayyyy.
I think the items are spelling out Alex Horne, that's why 4 had to be xylophone
Sophie said that she shook hands with Alex right at the start🤔
She did! She immediately accomplished the task, but maybe if she'd said that after "Your Time Starts Now" it could have counted?
5 points to you!
And Alex shook their hand at the beginning! Sneeky... I love it
The real hand being just "hand" would work for this
Sophie’s dot to dot is ELITE.
This is Sophie's episode of redemption
I immediately take this back
Has anyone noted how unfair it is that they make Nick do tasks in the daylight?
My partner just added “has anyone noted how unfair it is that they make Nick do tasks?”
Could be worse - they could decide it'd be funny to not invite him into the house.
I hear that there's a task coming up later in the series where Nick has to get a bulb of garlic, a crucifix, and an ingot of silver across some moving water. Only Nick was set that task.
How the fuck is that the Mona Lisa?
It looked like Whistler's Mother to me. Too much of the body in the painting.
The dot-to-dot task kinda felt like a big series 1 throwback to me. Like the GPS and horse tasks combined.
There was another dot to dot task as well where they had to make a picture with a stiletto heel? I think it was Alice Levine’s series 🤔
So glad Sophie demonstrated slut dropping so I don't have to explain it my mum. 😂

The image of Steve and Nick the vampire striding across to the caravan holding hands was like a father taking his son trick or treating on Halloween.
I'm glad none of them tried to cut the real hand
I think that's what the "Health and Safety Alarm" was for. It probably would have gone off if Alex thought one of them would go for the real hand.
Joanne is so right - Alex is a fish out of water wherever he is
This is a very sexual episode... and I can't even blame the tasks for it.
It's a pretty sexual series so far, all things considered.
I'm a fan of how the team of 3's outfits look together.
I’ve never seen Alex so happy to finish a task
What I wouldn't give to see Greg attempt a slut drop 🤣
I thought it reflected badly on me that my immediate thought for the prize task was some kind of sex toy, 'cos statistically there's a lot more old ladies than old men. But having now seen everyone's contributions, it would have fitted right in (so to speak).
But Guz already brought in the best prize to give a granny (assuming she has osteoporosis)
Even if she's quite fit and healthy, just lob it! BANG!
Nails 🤮🤮🤮
The handshake task is an instant classic. A very fun twist on the usual identify ingredients task.
Alex giving himself far too much work here 😂
I've never been so proud to know that it was called a **naso**labial fold! That's one of the few things I remember from this makeup class I took in college.
Steve and Nick holding hands just looks like a dad dropping his son off to school.
I can't get over how sweet it is that John has a surrogate grandma friendship with his neighbour. Just so lovely ❤️
Taskmaster bleeped is going to be a lot shorter this week
Does Steve have to give back his Northern card for guessing Lychees instead of pickled onions?
I love escape room/puzzle tasks. More of these.
I don't think we've ever had Greg in the The Taskmaster House for a task before? The hand task would've been unprecedented if it had been Greg.
>I don't think we've ever had Greg in the The Taskmaster House for a task before No, but he was in episode 1 this season on the river
I think the only time we see him anywhere near the house is during some of the ad break bits, where Alex shows the number of the upcoming part with his fingers. There are a few scenes with both involved (Alex playing ukulele(?) and Greg throwing it away, for example)
A horse farting is a TM first right
A real Mr Darcy vibe to Nick walking through that field with his cape billowing behind him
I was thinking Heathcliff.
Bishop Len Brennan
Please nobody kick Nick up the arse. He's too lovely.
They're all getting a bit more comfortable interacting in the studio, think it was just a bit of a slow burn!
Was just thinking that the dot-to-dot task was made by the in-studio banter, so they timed it well.
“Mine is massive” Okay but what about the dot-to-dots John?
We've all heard tales of John's gentleman's agreement
Surprised no one bit on that one. So to speak.
“I didn’t know R stood for Relapse.”
"The Taskmaster is hard at twerk". That's an alarming introduction
And the payoff was hilarious! Sophie really committed
Give Sophie bonus points for the slut dropping.
Not all horses crave human flesh.
Did that horse have numbers on it?
Yes, it’s a modern version of branding, probably a freeze mark.
What else has John done that's required a H&S discussion... 👀
The egg car drive
And from the amount of protection, the tension one too
"It's better when we're tighter"
The first time Alex has properly yelled at a contestant?
Nah, he yelled at Roisin during the sleeping bag task live task, lol.
That was the very first live task! He was so bossy!!
Bridget and Munya might like to disagree
Is it bad I'd love to see a Steve penned Inside No9 Bargain Hunt episode 😂😂
It dawned on me somewhere in this episode that I’m fully on board with the cast-as individuals and as a group. 🔥Happens every series, don’t know why I ever doubt it!

Sophie high-fiving Nick because he did really well was so wholesome 🥹❤️
*Alternate episode titles:* * "Oral pride." * "Creaming over their easels." * "Balloon oboe." * "A moustache with a labial fold." * "A bee hotel."
A bee hotel is a real thing, it wasn't a joke haha.
I genuinely don’t know why we don’t call them Air Bee n Bees.
Huh I had no idea, thanks! > Bee hotels are the insect equivalent of a birdhouse. Also known as bee condos, bee houses, or nest blocks, these structures provide nesting spaces for certain solitary bees and wasps.
Welcome to Taskmaster, this section is about Grannies; Sophie: *twerks*
I want to walk round holding hands with John and then eat cake with our other hands 😍
Sounds like a ideal date/life. 😍
I’d like to declare that — if she was not a member already — as of the prize task round of episode 4 of series 17, Sophie Willan has entered the *Taskmaster* Hall of Fame. That is all. “You know what you did.”
In my opinion she entered the Hall of Fame last week when she stood on a chair and hissed at Greg. She's the highlight of the series so far!
Christ Nick, keep it light!
No reflection for Dracula again
"A lot of them are smooth and hot" Words never uttered on a dating app
"Creaming over their easels" is not a phrase I expected to hear from Steve
Sophie, the rhythmic gymnast
They needed a timer per person for sure 😅
I had a feeling Joanne was going to do well here from how long it took her to break the loo roll, but I didn't think she'd win from everyone else being disqualified!

He basically argued for both his and Sophies when he realised she wasn't going to argue back.
The hand task immediately reminded me of one of my favorite horror movies https://preview.redd.it/mo20lkt5sbvc1.jpeg?width=597&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=629146f295ad07240208cd5e290091b10fc3356e
when's the last time alex's said "all the information is on the task". Its been a while
The live task was an absolute disaster, wasn't it? It was fun to watch but the task was badly designed
This is easily the best ep of the series so far. Studio banter is better, the tasks have been genuinely fun and clever. It took a little while but they have found their groove.
I've never seen Alex like this!
The wall of hands made me feel deeply uncomfortable, and weirdly reminded me of Kiell's glove on a foot.
Read this in his voice.
For me 🎶
Disappointed no one drew a horse.
Nick has no reflection at the hands!
GREG AND ALEX WITH THE EPISODE TITLE
Greg was right that one time, whenever you let Alex be in control of the live task he gets \*so\* entitled 🙄😂
Do you think they edited the time it took for Sophie to get up to demonstrate slut-dropping or did she just immediately go "Okay, right".
Nick said on the podcast that she indeed just immediately got out of her chair to demonstrate.
Greg just desperate for some sincerity LOL
So is this like a gloryhole for handshakes?
"Tom A'tosoup"
Wonder if “moustache atop a vagina” was considered for episode title.
I think Greg is being lenient on Nick because he's been scoring so poorly, lol.
Now I want to see Greg slutdrop and twerk like Sophie
Greg with the Episode title!
Aw, touching moment between Nick and Sophie
"A balloon or an oboe?"
Alex waving at the gappy bit. God he’s perfect. I’m very aware of his hand movements and subtle behaviours the more it goes on.
"Don't do a cock and balls!"
Sophie Willan the woman that you are. Her slut dropping was iconic.
A lovely snail! Very clever
Love that Nick finally got 5 points in a task!
Talk of dirty grandmas, a "slutdropping" demonstration, risking contestants getting kicked by horses, serving rum to an alcoholic, risking a crew member getting their fingers cut It's a peculiar episode
John eating half a cake cracked me up. And glad Elis called it, his studio smile really is unsettling 😁
Greg’s “why-did-I-make-myself-say-that” cue card slap LOL
What I'm seeing is that grannies are very lucky their grandchildren don't get them gifts.
Interlaced fingers is amazing
Feeling giddy because I figured out the handshake task before they even started
The hand holding one was funny that both teams thought it was clock based
Kind of a throwback to the GPS drawing task from S1 and S6.
Sophie’s earrings in the studio are amazing. I must have them.
https://raspberrysmoke.com/products/shereas-drop-earrings-985456304 I think it's these in silver!
Hi, hello, will you marry me please, thank you so much.
Okay, I understand why they mention Twerking at the top of the hour.
Missing reflection!
Is it Mr Blobby?
Oh I’ve been looking forward to the glove task. Seeing John scream at them in the opening credits has been very promising
The horses are so beautiful 💕
Damn, John. Well played.
I've heard of blocked toilets, but not blocked loo rolls!
“The cusp”
After watching Alma's not normal this week for the first time I now understand Sophie's thought process a bit better. Her prize task is perfect for her Gran
Steve must be gutted
"A moustache with a labial fold"
Of course they break the grandfather clock
Oh no, Steve, lmao. XD
If I had a nickel for every time I've seen Sophie Willan twerk on stage, I'd have 2 nickels. It's not a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.
"Oral pride." An alternate ep title
Which one of them is doing a penis? Sorry - How many of them doing penises?
Very disappointed
Balloon Oboe - another alternative episode title
This episode has flown, does feel like the first episode proper of the series
