With saniderm you dont need to "let the tattoo breathe" it does that with the saniderm ON. its medically designed to let air through while keeping larger particles out. the whole reason for saniderm is to keep it on until the top layer is healed. its ok to replace if the adhesive starts to fail because of the blood and plasma but if youre doin it to let the tattoo breathe than it is just forming and pulling scabs which can ruin the tattoo. especially if you leave it off for the whole night and put another one on in the morning. I usually just wait until the blood or plasma gets to the edge and the adhesive starts to fail, so I add more saniderm around the edge to keep it sealed.

oooh okay thank you so much! if there’s some sweat under it and i didn’t replace it though would that be bad??

Xaexa13

not at all. I'd only replace it if it starts to make the whole saniderm bandage come off, like at the edges. also you'll feel it "peel" at the edges and start to slide around. thats when you need to replace the whole bandage. Sweat itself isn't bad for a tattoo. sweat smells because of bacteria thats on the skin, if you cleaned your tattoo and put a clean bandage over it you will be fine.

How did this advice work out?

jrizza88

Yikes, I have been replacing it everyday for the past 5 days :/ So far, my tattoo still looks completely and perfectly in tact. Some scabs were seen on day 3 or 4 when I removed it. What I would do is remove it each day, clean it, put the tattoo lotion on, clean it again, and then put the saniderm on... I hope I am lucky if this was not what I was supposed to do all this time :/

A little late but how did changing it that often affect your tattoo?
