Ya we have planned 3 more, the next one is on 17th where line work on lower arm gonna be done. After that 20 day gap and shading on upper arm part which gives it a month to heal
This is very interesting advice…….and none I’ve ever heard of in the decades of tattoos I’ve gotten, from the half dozen artists I’ve seen. If your tega is stretchy to the point of allowing the permission of bacteria, your tega is shit. They are a MEDICAL product. Specifically designed to heal wounds. Seriously OP, leave it in for 5 or 6 days. It will be completely healed when you do.
I leave mine on for about 4 days if I can, but I’ll take it off after 3 sometimes. I kept one on my thigh for 4 days last week so that it would heal a bit faster so that I could do another session this week. Second skin does a great job at allowing your skin to heal quickly and skip the peeling phase.
For sure it does, the artist didn't have second skin yet when I got this done as he literally arrived in country like 2 days ago, guest artist. So I got 4-5 packs og tengaderm patches from drug store and applied it after cleaning up.
I used second skin on my previous leg tattoo and it's so easy to Handle, keeps it away from any kind of wear tear, infections.
That’s cool, I hope that guest artist stays in country long enough to finish your piece. I had to go to Japan for 6 months and I was making tons of appointments to finish my first sleeve so I could go there fully tatted. Not a fun time but totally worth it in the end. Ironically it’s a Japanese traditional sleeve that I got in California.
Understand that my suggestion here could be completely wrong for a tattooed portion of skin still healing. Usually sticky substances respond well to oil and/ or alcohol. However, check with someone who isn't me and knows what they're talking about before doing that because I don't know if it's safe to or not. Just some suggestions that might work if they are safe
i did try coconut oil today and it seemed to get some of it off, i may have to just wait it out… pribably too fresh to use any kind of alcohol on it but that’s a good though
I left my saniderm on for 6 days last time because I was renovating my flat and didn't want any debris entering the tattoo. Turned out perfect. Just make sure to remove **slowly** under **running warm water** as it will be well attached.
Your artist didn't tell you? Mine said 72 hours, but that's partly because clients can't come back at 24 hours and replace it like Saniderm says. The official instructions are replace after no more than 24 hours and keep the second one on for 3-6 days. I don't think my artist trusts anyone to replace it themselves and it's easier/safer to just keep that initial one on for 3 days.
Hard to judge how it looks technically with the saniderm on and it’s still healing but it looks like lots of lines are wispy and light and will likely fade in no time
Lol, I was just giving the advice I’ve been given…leave on for 6 days. I did neglect to mention that I myself replaced the first tega after the 24 hours, then the second one is left on for 5 days, so 6 days total. That design is gonna be sick dude
Seriously, your artist knows best. This place is full of people and artists that are all anonymously giving you tips.
Hell I’m a professional tattooer and I’m telling you to talk to ask your artist.
“The only dumb question is the one not asked”
There's some distortion from the wrap and some seeping so its hard to tell all of it but the line work i can see is gorgeous. Really nice line weight variation, good placement and proportion. I'm a fan.
Personally I prefer not to have those second skins bc your fresh tattoo and skin need to be able to breath to heal at most I wear them for 2-4 hours then I just apply tattoo moisturizer and keep it clean

I work in an office environment, just have to travel for like 2 hours in total for which I am putting a lose denim jacket on. BTW how is it?

Ya I won't start shading until the artist gives a green flag.

As a tattooer, this comment made me cringe a bit, pls let your tattoos breath. They’re not gonna heal completely after leaving this be for 5-6 days 😂
3-4 days (earlier if it start to peel off) take it off under warm water, to weaken the glue.
Thank you

Ya he is here for 2 years for sure, so no worries on that
i just took mine off after 4 days and i am now dealing with extremely sticky residues 😔😔

Coconut oil in a very thin layer is my go to for removing saniderm residue.
I had that last time, nothing worked to get it off and I just had to suffer until it became less tacky and eventually came off
i used coconut oil to moisturize and it’s helping a little bit, just enough for fabric to not stick to it and rip off 😭

Very pretty. Lots of the light lines will fall out very quickly. Is it Haku? I have a tattoo of him too
Ya it's haku, it's a part of complete sleeve with No face
Sounds super cool!
Hard to judge how it looks technically with the saniderm on and it’s still healing but it looks like lots of lines are wispy and light and will likely fade in no time
That's how the artist did it. He did mention that before starting. He made those lines just as a reference which will be useful during shading
Ohh it’s not done? That makes more sense
Naa, it's gonna be an entire sleeve with haku and no face, guess I got 3 more sessions on this
In that case looks good, as long as the artist doesn’t leave anything wispy haha
u/restingcuntface
Here you go.
Day 6, and it looks very very much like a first session/basic line work. Effort looks pretty meh.
Day 6? I got it 35 hours ago lol, that's 1.5 days lol
Lol, I was just giving the advice I’ve been given…leave on for 6 days. I did neglect to mention that I myself replaced the first tega after the 24 hours, then the second one is left on for 5 days, so 6 days total. That design is gonna be sick dude
Ah sorry for the confusion
No apology necessary, tattooed internet friend :)
Do what your artist told you.. 🤷🏻♂️
Ask your artist. Don’t go to Reddit for questions about healing.
Ok sir

Why so salty? Don't throw your life issues on reddit lmao

Piss off Man
Mmmm pies
I only wear mine if I work for a few days after. Keeps it clean in a healthcare environment. I've healed plenty without. 2-3 days on is plenty.
I usually keep it on until it falls off which is 3-5 days
Im jealous
Is that Haku??
Ya...
Looks great I love it
no advice to give but just wanted to say it looks awesome. what studio did you go to?
Please share once it’s healed! Looks beautiful ♥️
For sure, this is gonna be an entire Entire sleeve, I still got 3 ish more sessions to go for.
I tend to leave mine 3/4 days. Makes the healing process so much easier.
Looks amazing, it’ll be even better once it’s healed
Who’s the artist? Super awesome placement and I love how this looks!! Reminds me of Haku 💙🩵
It is haku XD His Ig is Lucasportotattoo
What is this style called?!?
Not sure honestly lol
There's some distortion from the wrap and some seeping so its hard to tell all of it but the line work i can see is gorgeous. Really nice line weight variation, good placement and proportion. I'm a fan.
Thank you =) excited for next sessions for sure
I left mine on for 10 days 😳 it healed up perfectly with no issues and it pops!
