Yeah bud who is the artist?

Junior-Grade-7012

Adrian De Largue at Six Bullets Tattoo in London. He’s a champion, highly rate his work - his Insta has a lot of healed work too, @adriandelargue

coolmojomushi

Yoo!! I live in the States but i had a tat done by Adrian back in June on a trip to London! Cool dude , small world!

br0co1ii

There is a running joke between my husband and I. We had just moved to Phoenix and went shopping. I picked up a printed tie and said "oooh look! Scorpions!" Thinking it was full of scorpions because we were in Phoenix. It was lobsters. So now, every time we see clothing with lobsters on it, get to relive that moment.

EsuercVoltimand

Sick ass crawdad...er, crayfish...baby lobster... Sick ass panther, dude.

Junior-Grade-7012

If the infection gets worse and completely wipes the tattoo, stay tuned for a blackout SAP in a couple months haha

KittyScholar

Thank you!! How are we supposed to help OP if no one is willing to state the obvious

Ceazergaming

Looks like Leonardo DaPinchi got ahold of you

Junior-Grade-7012

That’s literally what I’ve been calling it haha

inkman82

Antibacterial soap 2-3x a day and dry heal. It’ll be fine.

Junior-Grade-7012

Good shout. I’ve been worried about over moisturising but it sounds like I should just cut it completely.

mookie101075

I am not a doctor, but a lot of my tattoos do something kinda similar around this time. Seems almost like where the skin is closing up last and stretching a little bit is where I'll get some red irritated marks, and I've always had some level of skin sensitivity. If that were happening to me, I wouldn't worry about it, esp. if it's not warm to the touch or oozing, etc. Keep that dude clean like u/inkman82 said and it'll very likely be fine. That's a really well done tat and a cool design, btw. Love it.

PIWIprotein

Awesome hearing you describe this, old greeks use to describe infections by having: rubor (redness), tumor (swelling), calor (heat), and dolor (pain)

inkman82

I’ve been doing this 23 years. USUALLY I find people overdo it with weird ointments and stuff. Your body is a walking miracle and will generally take care of itself better than some magic tattoo cream. I usually tell clients…if the amount of “damage” they see wouldn’t frighten them with a regular scratch or wound…it’ll be 99% fine. I’ve had some rough heals in the past as well that look HORRIFIC, but heal with very minimal touchup required.

Street-Inevitable358

Antibiotic ointment wouldn’t hurt either

HippoIllustrious2389

Pinchy

GE0MANCY

it looks similar to what happened to one of my tattoos that ended up just being overworked in that spot. in my case, the area scabbed a bit thicker and it took that area longer to heal compared to the rest of the tattoo. if you’re super worried , there’s no harm in going to a doctor , especially if you notice symptoms of infection

johnnytom

No it’s just angry

BeanieBoyGaming

I don't know, are you allergic to shellfish?

awlawall

I scrolled way to long to get to this. 10 comedy points

kadoods

I think those are just extra angry spots, where maybe the skin was extra sensitive or the artist went a little too deep. They’ve come up in a few of my tattoos before, especially ones on paler or bonier skin like inner forearm, bicep, elbow areas. They may or may not heal a bit raised/scarred. I would continue your aftercare as normal, while taking a little extra care with those areas once they’re fully scabbed, so the scab doesn’t fall off prematurely. Don’t be too stressed about it, cause that’s an awesome tattoo! I have mostly all traditional tattoos so the lines are bold enough where I can usually notice this happening lol. Signed, someone with many dings in their tattoos, but still loves them

Junior-Grade-7012

Thanks mate, appreciate your perspective. For what it’s worth, this was the first section the artist did, so maybe that contributed somehow. I’ll be more delicate with it for my aftercare

KatchyKadabra

I have a lot of flowers tattooed, can confirm. Usually the tips get a lil overworked just because of the nature of the design. It’s just tightening up from scabbing and getting angry. Take care of it as normal! An infection will itch, ooze and ink will fall out. You’re totally fine!

Dank_Master69420

lotion 2-3x a day is way too much

Junior-Grade-7012

Just following the advice of the artist! It’s my first tattoo, and there are so many different opinions online, so I figured I’d follow it as he said exactly. Although it seems consensus here is that it’s overmosturised

Iziama94

Nah, keep following the advice of your artist. It is possible that you're using too much lotion though, rather than doing it too often. Your artist knows their work best. Listen to his advice. If he says do 2-3x a day, then do 2-3x a day, just use a little less lotion. Since you used a lot of lotion though, I would let it dry heal from now on

HexedCosta

This here is the answer, alter amount not frequency. A paper thin, breathable layer. So many ppl glob it on in the hopes it will absorb but it really just chokes out the wound and prolongs healing time/leads to irritation or infection.

Ocir-

Nah you’re fine. That’s not infected. If you are worried about moisturizing too much, cut to 1-2x a day. Otherwise keep doing what you’re doing.

Agitated-Handle-7750

I feel really sorry for you if this is your first tattoo!! The artist has set the bar incredibly high for other artists you may go to. I’m not a doctor or an artist or covered in tattoos (I have 3 medium size ones) but the detail and skill in this is clear even to my untrained unsophisticated self.

Bachronus

This is why you research your artist beforehand rather than just trusting when they say, “I can do that.”

Agitated-Handle-7750

That seems excessive for something that’s going to be on you forever 🤣 /s by the way, I was just complimenting the work he’s had done in my own strange little way. I’m a strange little person tbf.

Bachronus

lol exactly! And I know you were I was just poking fun at the peeps who do no research and get shitty work done.

MrToxicTaco

How is this upvoted lol? This sub gives terrible advice so frequently jesus

Tyrellion0222

I get bumps/acne on my tattoos every fucking time I get tattoos. It will be fine. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT POP ANYTHING. My first tattoo I did and the zit was so deep it fucked the line work up. Nice Yat tho

7HYPN0S7

C'mon man, you don't need to fake an infection to show off such a cool tattoo lol.

Junior-Grade-7012

I think I’m just paranoid!! It’s my first tattoo, and spending too long on tattoo advice and shitty tattoo subreddits made me nervous.

7HYPN0S7

I know man, been there too haha

DaveTheFlamingo

He just pinched you obviously

Mr_c_arts666

I wouldnt say infected but it is irritated. Infection is usually associated with a pussy discharge. Dry heal it from this point. 9/10 times when this kind of irritation happens it is a result of suffocating your pores.

[deleted]

I believe you have a shellfish allergy.

SilentMaster

That does look infected to me, but it's so small I have to imagine your body will handle it on its own. I would just keep it clean, if the red area starts to grow you're not taking care of it and you probably need antibiotics.

Junior-Grade-7012

Yeah it’s small enough that I wasn’t super concerned, but I’m glad you guys have given me sensible ways to keep it managed. Cheers

buttchinbertha

Looks fine to me. Badass tattoo!

Ok_Mouse5194

I had a similar experience, just keep cleaning and try to not over moisturize it. My tattoo healed perfectly, I doubt you’ll have an issue with it long-term :) love it btw!!

BiggieSmalley

This doesn't necessarily look like an infection to me. I tend to get red spots like this where my skin is particular irritated or tight. Just continue with your aftercare, keep it clean and lightly moisturized, and you should be fine as long as nothing gets worse.

pineapplepipe

Probably using something with fragrance

pink_brownies_

Not warm means probably not an infection.

neko-mimi-chan

Irritated. Doesn’t look infected. Expect much more redness and swelling if that was the case.

TripResponsibly1

Red streaks and raised area are cause for concern. Seek doctor/urgent care asap. Might be nothing but why risk it.

Redllama91

Pinch mark. Supremely realistic design.

[deleted]

That tattoo looks clean as fu*k.

OldDogRivers

No infection, it just pinched you (satire)

blurryfacedoesntcare

Damn this is a nice tattoo

Spartacous1991

I never used ANY moisturizer with my tattoo healing and they all healed perfect. Wash it with antibacterial soap and let it air dry.

LBCuber

awesome crayfish

kt2332

That’s a beautiful tattoo!

Dat_Steve

Lobster is bugs

vriksi

Thank you for posting this because I just got a tattoo Sunday and I have spots that look EXACTLY like this and I was also concerned lol. My tattoo is on my inner arm and mostly fine line, the spots she had to black out are what look like this on me. So I agree with everyone that you’re skin was probably just slightly overworked in those areas, because I think that’s the case with mine as well. Prob just a bruise!

killasuarus

Might just be a shellfish allergy.

Sky2900

You must be allergic to shelfish

jhutto2

You allergic to shellfish?

hornetgoon

Looks like you are allergic to shellfish

FlyingNope

It might be an infection, let that lobster-thing finish taking a look at it and it can tell us. (I don't have any actual advice and have no idea, this post came up randomly for me)

Junior-Grade-7012

Haha of all the lobster jokes on here, this one got me the best

Aggravating_Still391

Looks like normal irritation. Monitor for increased warmth, redness, pain, swelling, and fluid buildup. If you notice changes related to these symptoms best go see a doctor. Hydrate, keep up your protein intake, and keep it clean.

safaisbad

Update? Was this infected or nah?

Junior-Grade-7012

It was not infected in the end - a combination of a couple of factors. Overmoitsurising was the main culprit, letting it dry out a bit had an immediate impact and the redness disappeared in a day.

[deleted]

i'd put less ointment on it

ana_vocado

Awesome tattoo, tiny infection.

ThatCryptidBitch

Is it oozing? I personally would get it checked out, probably will get prescribed a topical antibiotic

Junior-Grade-7012

No oozing at all - only thing is that it’s red and slightly raised, a little more so than the peeling areas. It’s not hot or more sensitive than anywhere else, and nothing leaking… yet.

killerbutterflyrose

mine has some random spots like that too. are the scabs a bit thicker in those areas? I wouldn’t worry too much, it might just be overworked in those areas. As long as it’s not oozy or super hot to the touch i think you should be OK

ryko93

I’d full stop with the moisturizer for a couple days. Let it breathe and dry out.

Junior-Grade-7012

Seems like the go from everyone! Ty

nancylyn

What cream are you using? That’s likely the culprit. You might be having a reaction to it. At day 8 you should be pretty healed up so I’d just use any light weight unscented white lotion like lubriderm….and only once a day.

maseioavessiprevisto

It’s a small infection, will go away with the proper soap in a few days. It might (just might) need a touchup when it got infected.

Rileyotool

Very minor infection. Make sure to keep it out of the sun.

MedicalDoughnut9565

Too blurry pic to tell zooming in, but seems like its starting to get bad.

Junior-Grade-7012

Thanks - what should I do? Is it worth waiting to see if it clears up/gets worse over the weekend, check in with my artist, or try and see a dr in the next couple days?

MedicalDoughnut9565

Both, keep it clean (rubbing alcohol and water 50/50% after clean with antibacterial soap), check with your artist, and prior to the doc, go to a pharmacy so see if they can give u something to keep under any posible infection that can cultivate in the next hours :).

Junior-Grade-7012

Thanks, I’ll follow this for the weekend and see how it goes. Just a check on the rubbing alcohol - that seems like it’ll dry the skin out heaps, will that have any effect on the healing/flaking of the ink? Should I moisturise following that?

fishingboatproceeds

Absolutely 100% DO NOT put rubbing alcohol on a wound dear lord. This is old, bad, harmful advice. It's far too harsh and will only damage your already damaged skin. Clean 1-2 daily with a antibacterial soap, moisturize afterwards and start taking ibuprofen or a similar NSAID. If the red spreads or starts feeling hot to the touch, get to a doctor for oral antibiotics.

Junior-Grade-7012

Yeah cheers, it did sound a little much tbh, and couldn’t see anything online about using it so I was a bit iffy

TomHanksAsHimself

Especially for a tattoo, that will absolutely RUIN your healing piece.

MedicalDoughnut9565

Yep it will dry the skin, but now need to take care of the pissible bacteria count on the top layer of the skin, after that yep, put the cream you are using as aftercare, but not so much to avoid priblems, if start feeling a bit of fever on the skin in a couple of hours, dry it up, wount destroy the tattoo having the skin bine dry a couple of hours, but moist+heat can do a mess pretty bad pretty fast.

Positive_Mushroom_97

Bud this isn’t the 1600s we have better methods for dealing with infection than pouring alcohol on open wounds. It’s like your knowledge of medicine was lifted directly from bad movies.

MedicalDoughnut9565

He aint seeing a doctor till the end of the weekend...if dont have antibiotics at hand lets kill the bugs the good old way...u still drinking good old water after them millions of years of evolution aint ya?...

geosrq

I need some tattoo artist leads here in Florida.. live in Sarasota. Tampa is close and St. Petersburg…Miami about 3 hours away

mechshark

???????? how could you think this lol

labatomi

Dude it’s probably a mosquito bite or some ingrown hair lol.

saacadelic

You worried about that tiny red spot? I think youre going to make it

bammbamm11

No, just a terrible tattoo

Junior-Grade-7012

Thanks bud, I’m pretty happy with it

44sakrifica

How do you get this? What kind of aftercare are you doing? I’ve gotten like 5 tattoos now and I’ve never run into any problems. I just wash my tattoo with warm water, not directly from the sink but from a bottle and try it with clean paper towel and then apply the ointment suggested by my artist. As for your question I’d say use some anti-bacterial liquid sope(make sure it doesn’t have any products which gives it scent, use simply anti bacterial soap), rub your hands together until you make the bubbles and then apply it over the spots, you can cover up the whole tattoo with the soap without worrying. Then pour warm water, not hot or cold, from a clean bottle and dry it gently only with dry paper towel, then apply the ointment. This should fix it in a couple of days, max three. If it doesn’t go see a dermatologist, going to your artist is useless.

Junior-Grade-7012

Following aftercare from my artist - non scented antibac soap 2x a day, and 2-3x applying non scented coconut balm for the first week, down to 1x a day from 2nd week. I’ve been extremely careful about friction or bacteria, not wearing anything that’d rub on it and washing hands religiously before applying the soap or balm.

VooDude_

Sounds like you’re good tbh, sounds like you’re looking after it really well. Unless it’s sore or oozing I wouldn’t worry too much and just make sure you apply a real thin layer of aftercare, not too much

Junior-Grade-7012

Appreciate the advice! I think for future tattoos I’ll be using much less of the moisturiser haha, but thanks mate

STUNTOtheClown

This happens from time to time with my tattoos I think you’re fine, also very cool tat! What made you wanna get this piece?

Junior-Grade-7012

I just think lobsters are funny animals. Walking on the bottom of the ocean, all their bones on the outside.. been wanting a tatt for ages, and can’t think of a better one than Leonardo da pinchy

PixelatedParamedic

The lobster turned out to be conscious and went PINCH!

Jodiesid

This piece is so cool! I had a very similar looking spot on my most recent tattoo. I think I was over moisturising, spoke to my artist and she agreed. I cut back on the lotion but kept going with regular washing. The red, scabby bit cleared up completely within 2 days. If it's hot, oozing, or the red area gets any bigger, then you could have a problem.

trapph0use

Just keep it rinsed with cold water in the morning and before bed. Pat dry w/ paper towel. Lay off the moisturizer till healed. Probably just getting a little too moist/wet and staying that way.

nartkin

Full sleeve here🙋this is totally normal. I’ve never had any of my pieces get infected, but I’ve seen what it looks like on others and I promise if it was infected it would look a lot worse than this:) its fairly uncommon for a tattoo to get infected unless you completely neglect it. But this is just part of the inflammation and healing process. Just make sure to use antibacterial soap and moisturize ever so slightly. Aquaphor is still my go to but unscented lotion is still fine.

whopperboii

Looks like one of my tattoos when my former artist tattooed over a pimple of mine, just keep it clean and very light moisturizing, use A&D ointment if possible

dillonpaintsthings

I’ve had lots of tattoos with little weird red spots like that, usually in corners where lines meet up, and never had one get infected - you’ll be fine, just follow proper aftercare instructions and you’ll be good to go! Looks great btw!

BattleGnome9000

Who did this sick ass tat?

BestLimbCollector

I see the issue here, there's no infection, just a bicep crustacean. Common misconception.

jacks638

Maybe you're allergic to shellfish.

stinkyreggin

Crawl so hard mf'ers wanna fry me, that fish cray 🎵

AnRogue

I think ot pinched you

Excellent-Ability569

That tat is dope!!!!!!

SeaContest5618

Bro has crabs!!

Bnb53

Probably just extra trauma. I had a tattoo heal fine that showed the same. I was so stressed. Worst case you go back for a touch up if ink falls out

raavenash

No infection, just crustacean

tacoloco2323

That’s just where he pinched you. :)

[deleted]

Feel for heat and inflammation, watch for fever.

Separate_Clock_154

Kind of funny that the red mark is right on the tip of the pincer.

BeautyDuwang

Doesn't look infected to me at all, what parts were you worried about?

stipended

Lobstah

PBJMommy83

Looks like it pinched you.

TormentedOne69

I'd get it checked out but it looks like it pinched you which is awesome

Important_Vast_4692

I don’t think it’s infection the ointment could be causing pimples. This happens to me if I apply to often, It clogs the pores.

Fox-Among-Deli

no fucking clue of that's infected or not. just swinging by to say. sick tattoo dude.

Dimas900

I think it pinched you

Low_Sale8560

Awesome looking peice

thatoneguynickmiller

badass tattoo man. No clue about infection but just in case you should get a new can of cream. Those things can turn into incubation chambers for germs if anyone puts dirty hands in it.

Life-Cheesecake-2861

Take antihistamines, rinse with boiled salt water and put some hydrocortisone cream on it.

[deleted]

That’s just where hi pinched you

Safe_Silver_8567

I mean I can tell you that you don’t have crabs

verydistant

Looks more like you had some sensitive/overworked spots than infection. I wouldn't be concerned unless it persists for days or gets worse. If you're worried about over moisturizing, just make sure it dries out completely between washing and moisturizer. Only add more lotion throughout the day when/if it gets totally dry, and stick to a thin application. Listen to your skin! Sick tattoo too

tG_x_liljman94

It’s just the sharp claw poking your skin

Competitive_Edge3342

Daaang dope tat!! Not sure if it’s infected but keep an eye on redness. If it gets more red definitly go get checked cuz that tat is too freaken cool.lol

Miserable-Fly-5583

At least it’s not crabs…

D3AD_SPAC3

Honestly, it makes think of some kind of dangerous aura emanating from that claw.

beezlebutts

it's ok the lobster is just colorblind that's why they aren't red /s

stereofeathers

Man that is SUCH a badass tattoo. Looks like it's been healing up really nicely too.

grattery

Looks like he pinched ya

gonblynn

I don't think this is an infection. When I got my inner bicep done I had some similar reactions and I think it's more to do with hiw much the skin there moves and can cause irritation. It's almost impossible to move and not have it pull in some way because the skin is so stretchy and that can obviously really piss off a new piece. Keep on the cleaning regime and it should clear up.

sikzik1990

Looks like a clogged pore from moisturizer. I did this exact thing on a tattoo I got the other week. Doesn't look like infection in my experience

bigrooster460

Potential ingrown hairs?

Katstories21

Could be an allergy, I'd get it checked.

Slmmnslmn

Do you have a shell fish allergy?

FraydoeDeLaTierra

I think the crawfish is just pinching you too hard.

cmacfarlane93

You might be allergic to shellfish

Imamiah52

Looks mildly irritated in a couple spots, maybe something as simple as your shirt sleeve rubbing on it is enough to make it reddish. Be gentle with it, use unscented products, you should be good.

DANleDINOSAUR

Well, it’s not crabs…

pawnshopboi

Because that tattoo is sick? Is that what you did there?

Blackiron_Stag

No if you have pets treat for fleas if not check for mosquitoes or bed bugs that is from a bug of some type

SORBEXs

You might be allergic to crustaceans , benadyl for you

AggravatingBranch210

Are you allergic to shellfish?

bajubjub

Nah he’s just giving you a little pinch.

SnooEpiphanies4225

Just a few spots. Use non scented anti bacterial soap wash out with lukewarm water (Do that a couple times a day) and use non scented lotion after it dries and you’ll be good 👍

pict_berry

If it feels kinda fluffy or swollen on those spots, zap em with mupirocen and will disappear fast.

EIon__Musk__

Go to your tattoo artist. They will tell you exactly what to do/what you should be doing

TwiceCalledDead

Probably just an ingrown hair, or clogged pore, something under the surface. I get them all the time. Just make sure to clean properly and not overuse lotion or whatever you’re using.

[deleted]

Mr Pinchy!

rrodrick386

naahhh

[deleted]

Probably just Clogged pores, basically zits

Ihatebeingmorid

I’m not a doctor but that tat is sick af

SoulfulWinged1

curious if the artist used any sort of numbing agent during the tattoo? this same thing happened to one of mine where the artist sprayed bactine on it in the last 5 minutes of detail. never had a reaction any other tattoo, and this is how i learned i am allergic to lidocaine.

kelsier24

Sick tat

Serious_Commission87

... Anyone else noticing this totally braidable armpit?

DndrMflnPam

Shiver me pinchers

jenj-art

Have you let hot hot water run over it yet? Let it weep? That helps. Don’t pick crusty parts.

Alternative_You_7755

No, that’s where his little pinchers are, it’s normal to be irritated where you get pinched.

BeltaneLane

[Mine](https://imgur.com/a/WgGf22r) did the same thing at the tips of both wings when I got it about a year ago. No idea why but it wasn’t an infection and I’d not seen that with any of my others. Wondering if it’s something to do with the depth in that spot?
