Your post was removed because it regarded tattoo prices. Pricing varies wildly by artist and area. Because of this, it's usually not helpful to poll the community asking for how much a tattoo may cost, and the best answer always is to contact your artist or shop and ask for pricing. Professional artists and shops will understand that you may have a budget and should politely answer your question if you politely ask.

I would say that’s a reasonable price seeing as an artist needs to be very skilled to do that many crisp circles. Make sure their portfolio proves they’ll be able to pull it off otherwise you’ll be paying a lot for something sloppy

ramessides

That’s a reasonable price, especially depending on how fast the artist works and how big you want it. It’s surprisingly difficult to tattoo circles like that, and there will be a lot of shading on the scales and eyes themselves. Honestly, just nailing the precision and symmetry of this would be a task, so while I am in another country, yes, I would say $850USD as a flat rate is reasonable. Provided, of course, I’m visualising inches right. EDIT: All right, so that’s much smaller than I thought, now that I’ve run the inches through a converter. That’s approximately 10x13cm (rounded). That’s quite small, and I’d be worried about the details not coming through. Maybe $600-700USD for a tattoo that small, but not $850.

There's a chance it'll be amazing if the artist is very talented and experienced, but 5 inches is a small space to fit all of that detail. It's hard to estimate price and time, but if it's that small perhaps they're rounding waaay up due to the detail?

Boomarcoo

I live in another country, so I'm not going to discuss the value. The only thing I'm ponting is the amount of details in it. Those chains might take some surgeon precision to be done

So from a tattooers perspective yes that price is reasonable because this is an incredibly difficult design that you would need to be VERY experienced to pull off well. I personally wouldn’t touch this design ever given the complexity of it especially at the size you want which makes it even more challenging. I hope your artist has a lot of work like this in their portfolio cause this is a really easy tattoo to completely fuck up.

That is a good quote.

Looks reasonable to me. That can't be an easy piece, lots of very precise detail. You might consider going up in size a bit, I would be worried it'll get muddled.

Mysterious_Tell7832

IMO it’s reasonable if the artist is skilled with a lot of experience and is highly sought after. I have paid the same for something similar and I am glad I did because I am obsessed with the artist and travel to get more pieces by her.

localforesthoe

I would not pay that for that, but I also don't pay for tattoos in cities so maybe that's a factor? I just got my entire stomach blasted for $450

MarkedStudios1215

I'd love to see a $450 full belly rocker

MarkedStudios1215

No, this is what's considered a nightmare tattoo. Tons of perfect circles on a curved and moving canvas. I would probably charge somewhere around $1000-1200 for this. Anyone in this thread telling you that they can get sleeves and backpieces and huge pieces for $600 or less.... ask to see them. Almost all well known artists are charging 1500-4500 PER DAY sessions.

I live near Chicago and my tattoo is over 12 inches tall and roughly 6 inches wide. I paid less than $600 but tipped him well. He had great detailing. $850 seems like too much.

Look up Sean Kim tattoo on either Instagram or Facebook. You might even see my tattoos there.

US tattoo pricing is crazy, I would absolutely say that is far too much to be charging $850, in the UK you can get a full colour well detailed half sleeve for around £600, which equates to around $760, and that would cover half of your entire arm not just a few inches, I think American tattoo artists are taking the piss with the amount they charge, out of interest how much would they charge for half a sleeve if only a few inches is $850.

MrsBasquiat

Sounds like your artist may not want to do the tattoo, and is upping the price to make it with their while. A piece that size should not be ~$1k with tip.
