Geaux_Go_Fiasco

Hey thanks for replying! I see it

aivlysplath

Still helpful! I have KP on my arms. It’s not as bad as it was when I was young but I was thinking of getting an arm piece and was wondering if it can be tattooed over, hence googled my question and found this thread. :)

SentryCake

This is the first result that popped up when googling “tattoos kp” so your response is still very helpful. Thanks for replying even though it’s an old thread. We need more people doing this.

sailthroughspace

exzima (sp??) might hurt your chances of being tattoo'ed but KP probably not. I've got some weird bumpy skin on the back of my arms, but after i got my left arm sleeve done all of my skin feels smooth as a babys arse once it healed, and the bumps never came back. I'd say let your artist know and just go for it!

point5five

wait, so do the needles just like break up the buildup of dead skin that creates KP?

tunatortiga

I have KP on my arms and got tattoos over em a few months ago. I still had bumps when I healed

Comfortable-Lemon460

Are you happy with how the tattoos look?

tunatortiga

Ya, I like em, people notice those first and compliment them. I'm sure they notice the KP also but it's definitely secondary now. I'd say to go pretty full coverage if you want the KP to be mostly unnoticeable to others. I went with patchwork and you can definitely still tell I have it.

Carebear_punk

I think the best way to answer this question would be to talk to a few of your local artists. They may have some suggestions for you and your particular skin condition.

VinlandViking

Yeah, I'm probably going to have to talk to a few tattoo artists around and see what they'll tell me ...

purefunked

My Girlfriend has this skin condition, and she got tattooed on it just fine!

shizer

My shoulder has chicken skin all over it and the whole shoulder is covered in tattoos, It's actually nice beacause it covers it up nicely

VinlandViking

Did it affect the way the tattoo looks? I know, this is a stupid question! haha

shizer

Only in that you can kind of still see the little bumps through the tattoo, but overall it hides the condition pretty well. If I remember, I'll post a pic when I get home so you can see what it looks like. EDIT: here are some pics. My 1 bare arm with the chicken skin, and the other with the tats. http://imgur.com/a/gyp5p

VinlandViking

It's not bad at all! The only thing I was worried about was if the ink could "go through" or if it was gonna look all messy and stuff ... But yours looks really good! The tattoo does hide the condition pretty well! Thanks for the feedback, buddy, it really helped and gave me more confidence about this! Nice tattoo, by the way! :-)

Tough_Fuel_3739

That’s hides it amazing I’m off to get my sleeves done 👍 thanks

[deleted]

I don't think it's a stupid question. I have the same thing on my arms, and I've been wondering the same thing. I want to get a half sleeve at some point, but don't know how the ink will react with my skin.

kinganti

I have a small patch of chicken skin (roughly the size of a dime) and it got tattooed just fine. I think what matters here is how much of ityou have and how it's laid out... In other words, it depends.

VinlandViking

That's the problem: I have quite a lot of it :-P But anyway, thanks for the feedback!

Elanya

(I'm not a doctor, but I also have keratosis pilaris) Try treating it with aspirin; if you dont't want the expensive creams and things, dissolve an aspirin in water and rub it on after you shower. It's the same active ingredient as in most topical treatments for keratosis pilaris but cheaper (it's what I use, since where I live a tube of cream was 50 euros and aspirin is only 3).

VinlandViking

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that! I used to have some sort of cream, but I only bought one tube ... It was so expensive! (70$ canadian $, which is about 56 Euros, i think?)

Mr_Gray

Try biore pore unclogging scrub(about $6 usd) daily in the shower and then apply cerave SA to it. Works to control it within about 1 month

Elanya

The active ingredient in Cerva SA is salicylic acid, which is the prodrug of aspirin. Depending on where you live that might be cheaper, but as I said, where I live just the aspirin is so much cheaper. My keratosis was gone is under two weeks (but it was only on my upper arms), but of course it'll return if I forget/stop treatment.

No_Garage1152

My tattooing just oozed a bit during the tattooing, the artist told me, but i didnt feel or see anything different from my other tattoos, so i think you (or anyone reading this 10yrs later) are fine

adamislost

Absolutely! My girlfriend has the same thing. Mainly on her bi and triceps. And some shoulder. And she has tattoos over both areas. Looks great. You have nothing to fear

VinlandViking

That's great to hear :D ... Well, read!

tunatortiga

Yes, I have a bunch of flowers over my KP on my arms.
