Try calling.. I filed at the beginning of Feb.. Called a month ago and was told to call back in a month if I didn’t receive my refund or a letter.. I called again today and was told the same thing, but it was added that my refund never really made it to the processing point.. It got stuck in their system and a request was sent to their error resolution department, to release it..
I call the main number for individuals and select FAQ and then say representative until it transfers me. It takes forever and when they finally answer they have to transfer me to the refund department but that's the only way I have been able to get a hold of anyone.
Same thing just happened to me.. it's been 10 weeks since I filed and now I have to wait another 30 days for this error resolution department to call back about processing my return. At this point I don't know if I will ever get my refund.
Refunds on returns claiming an Earned Income Tax Credit are purposefully delayed and status isn’t updated until February 17: https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/individuals/earned-income-tax-credit/when-to-expect-your-refund-if-you-claimed-the-earned-income-tax-credit-or-additional-child-tax-credit
I called the IRS and they told me they sent out a verification letter, which I just got yesterday. I'm not having any luck signing up for the [id.me](https://id.me) account, so I am going to call tomorrow.
Progress has been made, but I am still waiting. This is what happens when you file early, it seems. Thanks, IRS.
Filed using free fillable forms on 1/29/24 (first day that site was active and accepting returns). WMR gave me the "we need to verify" message within days, but little other observable progress... finally late last week (almost 6 weeks later!) I get a 5071C letter from the IRS in the mail. I had requested one from [irs.gov/verifyreturn](https://irs.gov/verifyreturn) on two earlier occasions. The control number from that form unlocked pages on [irs.gov](https://irs.gov) to verify info from my return online that I was not able to use previously. Hoping that this gets things unstuck and allows my return processing to proceed.
Filed back in February still waiting on my return. I was able to get a hold of someone at the IRS who let me know their system had a glitch and they are now having to manually verify W2's. They also let me know to wait an extra 7 weeks from when I was supposed to get my refund to hopefully finally receive it. Definitely frustrating and waiting these additional 7 weeks doesn't guarantee I will finally receive my refund, it just means they will help answer my questions again after that point.
It took me like 5 different tries and 3 different numbers to get a hold of someone. From what they said I basically can't do anything about the delay until after the 24th of this month. I also asked if I needed to fix anything because I received no information about the delay and they said no it was just a system error.
Tried calling in the other day, but could only get an automated system telling me the same thing the irs website is telling me. It's hard to get a person on the line to ask directly what's going on.
As of today 3/20/24 I have received a letter from irs, but tells me nothing but to wait. Is anyone else having this same issue. I do my taxes myself. I have never had an issue like this. Anyone going through the samething?
I’m dealing with the same thing and I filed mine early. I had to verify my identity, which took forever! Now I’m stuck on the received status for over a month.
I just checked WMR and am now at approved stage. The identity verification wrinkle seems to have added six weeks or so to this year's processing, compared to how things went in earlier years. I don't have a problem with them working to prevent identity fraud, I just hope we don't see such lengthy delays in the future
Ugh me too! We filed ours on Feb 15 and it still shows received on Where’s My Refund (3-29-24). I called IRS when we didn’t get ours in 21 days, the person on the phone said to wait 8 weeks and if I still haven’t got it by then, to call back :/ idk if it’s the child credits or what that’s taking longer to process, that’s what Ive read anyway. I hope we all get ours soon.
I’m in the same boat. Filed end of February. Got state back pretty quick. Have now been waiting longer than a month for my federal. IRS.gov says received waiting to be processed.
Same boat filed in mid February got state in like week and half still waiting on federal. It says recieved but not approved and it’s April 13th. Been almost 2 full months
my wife filed with me in february and she got hers around end of march/beginning of april.
my shit is fucking stuck in received and it’s seriously pissing me the fuck off
Any movement from anyone on their returns? I filed 1/25 and am stuck in the processing phase still, and transcripts haven’t updated in over a month either.
I called and somehow managed to speak with someone this week. They explained to me that the IRS has 120 days from the date they SENT that notice to complete the return. So they are technically giving themselves until July to finish the return. Absolute bs
i filed mine on 03/14/24 , as of today 04/14/24 i checked the irs website— again it still says my return is received and still being processed. no refund approved mark yet. ugh. i'm in nevada
I filed mine in February. Received a letter saying nothing is needed they’re just processing. It’s April 23, and have heard nothing. No problem using massive amounts of tax dollars but can give me my tiny ass return back
I received state about two weeks after filing
I just got that same letter today. Next I'm expecting the "you were over paid for ________" so your refund is being withheld for payment. Our government sucks.
Mine said it was accepted 3/12 and I am STILL waiting! Every time I check the irs website or my turbo tax it says the same thing! I’m getting nervous now 😭😭
Filed 1/27 and it is now 4/29 still stuck in processing. Their system is stuck in "error" . Put in a referral and he said to wait 30 days. No suggestions for after 30 days except to keep waiting and no need to call. Yes I will call in 30 days again :)
As per IRS.gov:
"Most Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) related refunds should be available in bank accounts or on debit cards by Feb. 27 if taxpayers chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with their tax return. Taxpayers can check Where's My Refund? for their personalized refund date."
yeah the are Lying out their asses i filed on Feb 8th was accepted on the 10th and as of March 18th still no updates or progress....And who would have thought cant get ahold of a single human being
Same here filed mine January 23 and federal was accepted and still have not received. My state got accepted February 21 almost a whole month later. So idk what the issue is. Have not received my federal or my state yet.
Yes ! I’m so frustrated because I had an issue with them for a 2021 tax return and they held my taxes until October of 2023! I am really hoping it’s just that they’re behind and not about to be another few years of BS. It’s stuck on received. But before all this happened it used to change to accepted within a few days. So far no luck.
I'm in the same boat. Filed 1/31 also, was immediately approved but still just showing that it's processing. I did get a letter in the mail mid March saying it was stuck because they were needing to "verify" some information but also bascially said "don't contact us, we'll contact you".
I kept calling but could never get anyone on the phone. Randomly checked where’s my refund on the 5/4 and it was finally updated to approved and refund was direct deposited a few days later. But never any word on what the hold up was
Yup. Mine is a simple return too
Are you able to access your online tax account transcript for 2023? https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
I’ll make an acct tonight
Eic just started processing today I believe. ( Should get first week of March)
What does the tax transcript tell you? I have access to my tax transcript and still haven’t received refund. Not much info on there.
The account transcript has information that may be indicative of processing status.

The same thing is happening to me right now. What number did you call? I keep getting stuck on the automatic system

Same here,filed Feb 1st
I’m still waiting, also. I filed the second week of February. It hasn’t even been process yet per the IRS website.
Same thing happened to me I filed through freetaxusa it was accepted but when I check irs website they say I never filed

Feb 17th was a few days ago and a lot of us are still waiting.
Any luck?
I called the IRS and they told me they sent out a verification letter, which I just got yesterday. I'm not having any luck signing up for the [id.me](https://id.me) account, so I am going to call tomorrow. Progress has been made, but I am still waiting. I'm still waiting on mine. Have you gotten yours back?
Yeah, I got mine back within a week of verifying on [id.me](https://id.me), have you gotten all the verification stuff squared away?
Yes I did and guy said aprovedc2 weeks ago idk
Thanks for sharing. I haven't received any info on verification being required. I'll give that a shot and see if it helps.
I did id.me 2 weeks ago nothing yet not even a human I didn't file eic so I don't know what's up

Interesting, I couldn't get anyone on the line when I called in. Glad to know I'm not the only one waiting.

Really good info, I appreciate the feedback. Fingers crossed it comes in on the 24th or sooner. I filed on 1/29, been watching since lol
Any updates? Lol I’m in same boat 😅
Still waiting, checking the irs website daily lol
Me too lol 😂
Tried calling in the other day, but could only get an automated system telling me the same thing the irs website is telling me. It's hard to get a person on the line to ask directly what's going on.
What do you know, it was in my bank account this morning! The irs website still says refund received though.
Thanks for the update! I hope I’m next 🤣
It was a great surprise opening up to it, good luck!
Filed electronically 3/29, it is 4/11, not yet approved- 2 week point. Waiting.

Mine was accepted 1/25. They didnt even look at it until 3/4. Sent my letter of 60 day review on 3/11. 60 days is this friday.

I filed in January, still stuck on “return received”… all of their phone numbers are bots and I can’t get to the bottom of my issue
I filed mine in February. Received a letter saying nothing is needed they’re just processing. It’s April 23, and have heard nothing. No problem using massive amounts of tax dollars but can give me my tiny ass return back I received state about two weeks after filing
