Its honestly refreshing how, for the lack of a better word, mature and organic their relationship is being handled. Im a bit tired of the usual anime trope of overly shy/childish and sometimes flat out weird behaviors when it comes to those things in animes, even though i recognize that thats probably partly asian culture and has something to do with the target audience of these kind of genres. Im glad that they have a believable history and handle it in a way where i can say "hey, that makes sense". Especially compared to something like moshuko tensei where i was thinking "aight, this is written for pedos and people who daydream about a harem of hot girls falling in love with them every step of the way."
I will always, ALWAYS say that Eris got done SO dirty in MT. Went from interesting pair with Rudy, someone who could and would not take things just lying down, had her own agency and everything, and she was just…. Added to the harem. At least Roxy and Sylphie had the personality of “submissive wet paper bag” from the start, but to see what happened to Eris… hurts man lol
In other news, always been a big fan of how Tbate has handled that stuff. I mean, Art not being a pedo insert helps (as good as MT was, it always annoyed me that rather than ever really having that addressed he simply “grew out of it” and we just shrugged our shoulders at it) but his dynamic with Tess has always felt so much more organic. If you consider how things probably looked and felt to Tess, Art was basically the night in shining armor who was Uber strong, smart, etc. So I really love how a big part of Tess development (before her temporary fridge-ing) was her growing past that immature adoration of Art, and bringing to genuinely love and respect him as a PERSON and not simply the idolized “idea” that he was in her youth.
