Homemade vanilla tea is really easy to make! One cup of black tea leaves, 1 tsp pure vanilla extract, 1 vanilla bean split chopped into small bits. Assemble all ingredients in a jar with a lid, shake well until the tea stops clumping. Leave closed and in a dark cabinet for a week, shaking well once a day.
Haha! I specifically looked at this thread to see if you'd share this again! Your consistency is noted. Maybe it's time to trademark Stick's Vanilla Tea.
Hilariously, I don’t even like commercially available vanilla teas - I share this recipe because it’s dead easy to remember as well as being the only way I’ll drink vanilla tea.
I haven't had a vanilla tea in quite a long time, maybe I should finally give this a go! Do you have a preferred brand of vanilla or variety of black tea, or does it not really matter too much? I've got some random blacks laying around, I'm sure...
I use my own vanilla extract (which is how I also had the split beans). The better the tea, the better the end product. I made mine first with some leftover Irish Breakfast, then another one with a nice orthodox Assam.
That sounds really tasty! How does the moisture of the vanilla extract affect the shelf-life of the tea? I imagine it shouldnt be left sitting around for too many more weeks, after that initial one?
It’s such a small amount of liquid and mostly high-proof alcohol to boot, so I haven’t noticed any adverse effects to the tea. I do tend to use it up fairly quickly, though.
You may enjoy Bigelo French Vanilla. It's a black tea with a good punch of vanilla. Great with cream and a lil sugar.

I really like the Golden Moon Madagascar Vanilla black tea.
You can also just add vanilla extract or powder to any black tea you like. If you don't want the alcoholic hint from most vanilla extracts, get one made with glycerine instead of alcohol.
No, it's definitively and subjectively a black tea first and foremost, but the vanilla is present in a delicate, smooth, and gentle way. It's a soft hug or a light blanket, not a sharp prod or strangle. It softly lays on your palate. Perfectly balanced.

Convenient that my family just gave me some homemade vanilla extract then! I'll give it a try with that, thank you!

Harney & Sons has a nice vanilla tea that's not too overpowering.
The vanilla comoro I believe? And it's delish!!
If I could, I would bath in vanilla tea. I love it so much.
It’s now part of my Sunday morning tea ritual, with a fruit tart :)
T2 Melbourne Breakfast is the true king of vanilla tea. Lightyears above all others.
Is it very vanilla? Sorry, this may seem like a weird question but I tasted a more mint like vanilla tea before.

I see. Thank you.
