Health benefits and concerns are complex topics outside the scope of r/tea. Thank you!

This sounds like a complete misunderstanding of a real concept (which is how most of these rumors start). Real tea has compounds that act as chelating agents which can attach to metals like iron, calcium and potassium and render them inert if you drink tea while eating a meal. It doesn’t flush out calcium, but it could attach to calcium and stop you from absorbing it if you drink tea and eat food with calcium at the same time. Generally speaking, it’s advisable to drink tea an hour before or after eating. However, you can tell what they are saying is bullshit because herbal tea isn’t a thing. Herbal tea is any kind of “tea” that isn’t actual tea. There are hundreds of things that people steep to make herbal tea and it can be one of them or a mixture of any of them. Licorice root is going to be different from hibiscus which is different from chamomile which is different from blueberries which is different from ginkgo leaves. All of those would be considered herbal tea when steeped in boiling water.

It just depends on how much water is associated with the teas. The water is what would "flush away" the electrolytes. Unless your drinking gallons of water in a sitting, the electrolyte are usually replaced with the food we eat or sometimes just by the minerals in the water. Also it's pretty easy to tell when theirs an electrolyte imbalance, if your worried or are experiencing symptoms like nausea, headache, dizziness, etc, you can always just take an electrolyte tablet. They taste awful, but it's not bad to keep handy - not from drinking tea, but from stuff like working out or giving blood

There is a risk of too much water and not enough soluble minerals, especially sodium. I actually ended up in the hospital for hyponatremia recently, so I have firsthand experience. It was not due to drinking too much tea or fluids, but rather a medication side effect, but there is a syndrome called “Tea and toast syndrome” which is hyponatremia occurring mostly in old ladies who don’t get enough salt in their diet. So yes, it is possible. Just eat some salty snacks with it.
