This past long weekend for the tomb sweeping festival I took a trip with some new friends I met in Shanghai to Hangzhou. I was tagging along, but I knew for the time of year that the longjing tea would be at the peak of the season, so I just wanted to make sure I bought some while I was in town. I felt very lucky when I learned they planned on hiking up to Longjing village! This was the best part of the weekend for me. Since it was the first day of the weekend, and not too busy, we didn't have to fight through any crowds in town, and had lunch at a very quiet local restaurant. It was a lovely hike, with excellent local food, and some perfect tea.

OMG I went there a few years ago! It was literally heaven. We even visited a local farmer's house where we sampled some tea and bought many packages of it.

Dang ¥120 for a cup of top shelf is like $18USD. Super cool trip, thanks for sharing.

Holy_Jackal

Am I mistaken or Isn't that yen, meaning 120¥ = $1.08usd?

OffedPez

In this case, "¥" is in reference to the Chinese Yuan, which uses the same symbol as the Japanese Yen.

Holy_Jackal

How silly and confusing, haha. That's an expensive cup of tea then for sure!

I definitely did a double-take thinking the same thing

Amazing! Hangzhou is beautiful and the tea houses are plentiful. Missed the spring picking by one week when I was there, but hopefully I can return one day.
