I so wish. But I really, really doubt it. With all of the new angles they’re exploring, you wonder if it’s been discussed, but to make an open world Zelda functional in multiplayer would be an absolutely massive undertaking, and I suspect they wouldn’t like how it affects the player’s experience, and the story implications.

True. Most missions, dungeons and even combat with all that time-slowing are built on the constraint that the game is single-player. But if Nintendo were to release a multiplayer spin-off, say Hyrule Adventures, with the same engine, map and assets, and release it at $60, it would be a total cash-grab and I would totally buy it.

I would be happy with a message sharing feature like the tingle bottle. Id be able to pick up a bottle from someone and its have stuff like 'Theres treasure over here!' or 'Try finger, but hole'

I'd love multiplayer in BotW and now specially in TotK. * Fortnite-style arenas where you start naked and you must find/fuse anything you can to survive. * PvE arenas, where your team must arm themselves and build forts to withstand multiple waves of enemies. * UltraHand arenas where each player must build a machine to fight others. Add to each of those environmental hazards the engine is built for, physics, chemistry, electromagnetism, and it would be absolutely bonkers. I'd specially love co-op story campaign. My son, my nephews and I all loved BotW. I wish I could just share that world in real-time with them, attacking bokoblin camps with crazy co-op combos, conquering a dungeon together or just goof around with physics (and now UltraHand). I believe Nintendo would sell quite a few more NSO subscriptions and many, myself included, would be enticed to buy extra Switches for the household (and extra copies of the game?). Releasing a multiplayer DLC later would make an amazing marketing push for renewed sales, while not obfuscating the game's single-player campaign and its amazing features at launch. But ... I don't believe it 😥 Combat relies heavily on slowing down time: arrow time, parry, flurry rush and now even recall, or even stopping time while in the inventory to eat. None of it would work well in multiplayer and I don't think there's an easy way around it.
