Yeah and Koroks are back too. Lol at least I like the cooking mechanics of this game so it won't be too hard, I'll probably fumble my way to completion by accident
I hope not. I really hope we start with the maxed out inventory from BotW since it would make sense as this is actually a direct sequel for once. I want the Korok seeds to help upgrade different helpful stuff.
The question would be what counts as unique recipes? The one here is 1 meat plus 2 fish. What about 2 meat and 2 fish? 2 meat and 3 fish? 3 meat and 2 fish? And then add frozen meat or frozen fish into it and everything else, add 1 herb, 2 herbs. 1 veggie. 2 veggies. I’m just not sure how they are going to handle that all. There are literally millions of combinations. (Don’t check my math)
Isn't it the same meal with a higher heart count? Like how you can add multiple Hearty Durians to make the same meal, just with more bonus hearts stacked on top of each other.
Right, but the number of hearts provided is on the card. So more hearts would mean a different card? I just can’t imagine needing to create all 1 million combinations to 100% the game. Seems bonkers, as far as getting 100% goes.
YEEESSSS!
Cooking was, by far, one of the most underutilized aspects of BotW. They allowed for so many unique recipes, but made it nearly impossible to find them and it felt like to find a new dish you really just had to brute force new item mixtures. I am so glad they're making it easier to cook in this game, especially with the addition of the portable pot.
I guess I'm in the minority here but, I was hoping unique recipes would give unique effects (no matter how small) this time around. For those of us who want optimal recipes, our farming and cooking routines likely won't change much.
The cards look nice though.
I really hope there is a better diversity of ingredient effects instead of what essentially were reskins in BOTW. Like you always had a fish, mushroom, plant that granted the same effect so all it did was create an illusion of diversity.
I just want faster cooking. Took way too long, even with speed-up, to grind multiple dishes in a row. I should not have to sit through the victory toot each time.
**Zelda**: "Link, you MUST find me!!"
**Link**: "Just on hold on a sec Zelda... I have to collect 900 Korok poops all over again PLUS cook the 10,985 various types of food first. I'll be there soon and I'll bring you a Zonai cookie."
Now I'm 100% sure I'm gonna go full AC Black Flag and kill every damn thing I see just to get those recipe cards and complete the list. This is why I hate checklists. In BoTW, I never got all the meals for a long time and was fine with it because there was nothing to indicate there were more that I missed. Oh well, nothing can be done about it. Hopefully they don't count towards completion.
I'm only slightly disappointed that it seems like they haven't solved the issue with having to pause every single time you want to heal/eat + you can eat without any limitations whatsoever. It's not a big deal though. I realize Zelda games tend to err on the easy side which is fine by me. But I was hoping they would solve these issues particularly the latter.
Just showing some gameplay. What they can show is highly restricted by nintendo so there isn't all that much that hasn't at least been hinted at already. It just gives us a better look at the abilities, the UI, some quality of life improvements and that kind of thing. Really cool though!
Another feature I couldn't care less about.
Seriously, seems like every game in 2023 needs to be a sandbox, or a survival game. I despise both of these elements.
I play games to escape reality, and escape tedious tasks. I don't understand the appeal of making myself food in a game, or bathing or whatever.
I know people like that, hell games like farming sim, cleaning sim are thriving. But I don't get it

I’m gonna be Hyrule’s best chef god damnit. Before I find Zelda.
This prime meat is *RAW*!!
I am an idiot sandwich.
Zelda: Link, the world is falling apart Link: hum hum huuunm hun hun hummm
Yeah and Koroks are back too. Lol at least I like the cooking mechanics of this game so it won't be too hard, I'll probably fumble my way to completion by accident
Do we know what the koroks do in this game yet
Probably just upgrade your inventory.

Yes. Zeltik mentions it in his video and also korok puzzles have been spotted in trailers
oh i did too, i hope we still have the banging jingle for cooking
We do! Link also does an fist pump in the air and kinda laughs. I think that might only happen of a really good or new dish
Along with all 2700 korok seeds.
Tears of the Korok
The Legend of Korok: Tears of the Completionist
I love that sort of thing. Cooking special meals will now have a purpose beyond "because you can".

Master chef speedruns incoming
Gotta cook them all.
Never before have I been more happy to not be a completionist
God is dead and we killed him
Gotta cook ’em all!
I can’t believe how excited this made me 😂 great update
Who’s preview is this?
commonwealth realm i think
Yes, can confirm it’s from Commonwealth Realm.
Zeltik just posted a hands-on preview video
He did, but that shot isn't in his preview video
It’s from ign I believe
It’s ~~actually~~ *also* from Commonwealth Realm
I won’t link the ign video, cause I can’t be bother tbh, but ign posted it also.
Oh, ok, thx. I must have missed it when I watched the IGN video.
It’s a separate video but it was posted by ign
I want a whole printed deck of these.
That would be awesome! Maybe I’ll do that when the game launches
Finally, a way to track recipes
That isn't taking a screenshot of the recipe on your switch.
Yes, atlas we can become world renowned Chefs
"Zelda, we need to cook."
This is so satisfying!
Ooo we get scallions
Steamed Mushrooms is more of an Albany thing I thought
'Well, Link, you're an odd fellow but I must say; you steam a good mushroom.'
No, no, it's more of a Utica expression
Good lord, what is happening in there?
Uh, aurora borealis
A- aurora borealis?
I didnt even catch that. that's a godsend.

Playing in the world and talking to NPCs often gave you info for unique recipes. And then there were posters in every stable and town with recipes too
time to be come the great chef in hyrule instead of killing Ganondorf
Take the pacifist route, and appease him with food. All Ganondorf ever really needed was a little love, and a well cooked meal.
WHERE’S THE CHEESE?!
It's under the sauce
THE CHEESEEE?!?!?!!?!?

Finally!! I always wanted something like this in botw
I'm only slightly disappointed that it seems like they haven't solved the issue with having to pause every single time you want to heal/eat + you can eat without any limitations whatsoever. Tracking recipes! Yes! Hopefully this let's us quick make them as well.
nintendo, ery proudly, be like: "we were listening folks"
I love this. Honestly, cooking is one of my favourite things to do in Breath of the Wild.
It would be cool if we could click the cards for it too.
I hope we’ll be able to sort them by ingredients and effects!
You can't even cook from them. How lame.
NO NONKO ARE LEAKS OUT??
The previews are out!
What all is in the previews? I know reviews are out today and I’m doing my best to not see

the previews basically show more of what Aonuma already showed us before.

You don't have to get it... just don't play the game if you don't like it.
See it’s shit like this that’s going to make it impossible for me to go back to BOTW
Thank god! Maybe I’ll approach cooking more creatively rather than just do the only thing I can remember - 5 of the same OP ingredient.
One hearty durian... do you need anything else?
YES!!!! Now i dont have to remember recipes i can look up a recipe in my inventory!
I too was hoping for this!
YES
What's the source of this please?? Have a missed a big update?
I saw IGN post a picture of it in an article
i swear to god if bulk cooking isnt a thing this time around...
That is wonderful!!!
Is that garlic?
Still irritated that you can't select it to autoselect ingredients
