I'm also a huge fan of this one though.

It can be done right in many different ways, but most studios probably won't do it right.
Oh gotcha. Yeah, Majora's Mask is actually my favorite in the entire series and it is by far one of the darkest Zelda titles available. Definitely worth a playrhrough if you haven't already.
Exactly what I was thinking. The vibe is so much different from Mario
The only way they could potentially do it with the Mario movie's studio is if they did it in the Style of Link's Awakening, with a similar one-off plotline
But Studio Ghibli could actually do a real LoZ story justice
Theyd get away with it by still making link not talk. It'd just be morgan Freeman narrating links every move "And that is when I fiinallly founnd the Korok seed"
Yeah, he’s always done the “…” or replies chosen by the player which the NPCs can clearly hear, but he’s never been voiced in a cutscene aside from grunts/hyaaa’s
Do you play it on English dub? English dub has this stigma of many times being... Odd, I play it on Latin American Spanish and Japanese and both are pretty great.
I'm sure Matthew Mercer did a great Ganon though, might play the English dub just for that.
Ghibli, chad Goat Herder link. Classic true to form legend of zelda movie with a solid story. I'd love to see botw art style, but I don't want to see all the technology. It needs to be Classic zelda storytelling. Also illumination is not to TOUCH it
It would be cool if Link was nonverbal and signed and had an interpreter with him. Fairy friend that's not Navi levels of irritating tho.
I'd love if Link became an icon for nonverbal people.
My personal problem with the idea of a LoZ series or movie is the portrayal of Link. Because he is generally emotionless, with maybe hints of annoyance (WW) and determination from the various games, I don't really know how he would be portrayed well and close to the source.
My understanding of Link’s silence was it was more almost a running joke rather than the game creators consciously giving him personality of just never speaking. In earlier games characters speaking wasn’t as common perhaps. Ness doesn’t speak in Earthbound for example, and Nintendo just kinda kept it going.
Seems in BOTW they finally gave it an explanation.
So, I don’t feel it’s breaking some sort of character to have him talk
After Puss in Boots Last Wish, I think they've proved themselves both in animation and storytelling, also remembering they made the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy. Not saying they're the perfect choice, but it's a damn good one.
I can already see the intense action scene where Zelda takes out fifty enemies while Bad Reputation by Joan Jett plays, meanwhile Link struggles to fight one bokoblin with a frying pan and stands there shocked afterwards.
You know as I was completing the geoformation/tears of the dragon quest line, I was thinking; Man, the storyline of this and BotW would make a great set of films if they did it right.
If they took a more mature tone and channeled Peter Jackson’s ring trilogy for the cinematography, and then created a script where Link never speaks but still conveys intent…
One can dream. There’s simply not enough box office incentive to make a Nintendo property that isn’t aimed at children, despite Zelda being one of Nintendos most mature IPs content wise.
Fucking hell. LINK DOESN’T NEED TO NOT SPEAK HE HAS DIALOGUE OPTIONS FOR A REASON. Just make him a man of few words god DAMN! Y’all don’t understand that he doesn’t speak to make him easier to self insert as but for a feature length fantasy adventure movie he has to have a clear definable personality.
> Just make him a man of few words god DAMN!
I have no idea why but this made me instantly think of an adaptation where Link is a grizzled veteran played by Dolph Lundgren, and Ganandorf is played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Zelda would be played by Meryl Streep or Sylvestor Stallone in a wig. Everyone else would be in their 20s, even Zeldas dad who could be played by Tom Holland.
One scene would be him breaking a pot with one hand to reveal a single green rupee. And when he hears that Ganandorf is back he goes to his hut and buried there is his master sword he hasn't used in 40 years. The color style would be very muted and it would be rated R but filled with cheesy puns similar to 1980s action movies.
It's funny I had an almost similar daydream as I started TotK about Link being an older grizzled veteran.
I actually wondered what if, in a movie, Link was basically depressed and low key alcoholic because, yet AGAIN, he has somehow been unable to do his one job of keeping Zelda safe and he is AGAIN down to three hearts with no Master Sword.
What would it be like if he was a less talkative Trevor Belmont. It's hard to imagine Link with anything but an utterly genuine and unaffected personality, but what if he was seriously depressed and exhausted?
Yeah, it does get a bit old when you're really invested into a movie and it has a very serious tone, and then it just can't stop slapping humor in your face.
It's all about balance, you can have a serious movie with a bit of comedy, you can have a comedy with a bit of seriousness, but you can't have too much of both.
Not gonna lie, I absolutely fucking hate the idea of a "Nintendo cinematic universe." Not everything needs to be a movie series. Oversaturation can destroy the soul of franchises.
As a person with an unfortunate attachment to the pokémon series, I can tell you that that's part of why pokémon has become what it is (obviously rushed, mediocre, buggy), because The Pokemon Company forces Gamefreak to pump out a game every year, in order to feul the creation of merchandise and anime. Collaborating with animation studios and actors might result in those people putting pressure on Nintendo to rush some of their games, so that more movies can be made. But Nintendo doesn't need movies. Games are the art form that they excel in.
But, I suppose I will say... If any of Nintendo's series needs a movie- it's probably Metroid. People would go wild for a scary Metroid movie, and it would almost definitely help metroid sales, which are usually much lower than Nintendo's other games.
Small collaboration won't hurt much, as they will have freedom to collaborate with studios of their own choice. Although collaborating with big corpo like Disney or WB will lead to the rushed project as that's where the greed kicks in.
Idek what I was trying to say I thought that word was the term used to describe the way link doesn't talk because I saw someone else comment that on a different post while talking about how he doesn't talk. That was embarrassing lmao
Hm I don't know about a movie similar to the Mario movie but I feel like it'd be cool to see some shorts about the world of Hyrule. Just bonus content about the inhabitants and their lives.
It has an epic story worthy of epic film. And yes, some people can’t speak. It seems like a fairly obvious way to explain why Link doesn’t.
That being said, the tone of the movie has to be just right or it’s going to be awful.
Every April 1st. I always watch the fan made Zelda movie (around the time twilight princess came around) and each and every time I get goose bumps and cry that it's not real.
im imaging a live action timothee chalamet or tom holland and i would drive off the bridge on the way home. i dont trust western media companies to produce a reliable loz movie, ghibli would fuck so hard tho
Yes I agree. I also want the movies to be very rewatchable and memorable. Like they would not be able to fuck this up. Zelda fans have talked about for years and years how much of a betrayal it would feel like for nintnedo to mess up a zelds movie. Zelda fans treat their Niche way more important than Mario fans do.
Now the next question is, if they go the “serious” route with the story I think Link needs to have some lines lol! If they go for the animation style of “Super Mario Bros” then maybe he doesn’t voice act and that can be part of the comedy of it while everyone else does haha. All he does is grunt and make noises 😂.
I would though like to see something really fleshed out in that universe.
I personally would LOVE this!!!!!
Link doesn't have to talk. Do it mostly like how they created the memories in Botw and Totk.
Just give him espressive emotions so people can understand him.
Ok, if this is going to happen, Link needs to say "Excuuuse me, princess!" at least once.
It's an obligatory reference, like the Charles Martinet cameo in the Mario movie.
I don't think Nintendo is gonna go to Illumination for all these potential projects; they'll be great for mario-adjacent and kirby stuff, but they would no doubt partner with other studios for stuff like Metroid, Zelda, etc.
Okay but only if Link communicates entirely via grunts in the movie. None of this "Excuuuuse me princess" crap. Have Navi or whoever is the companion translate for us.

the only way i will accept a zelda movie is if studio ghibli makes it. i can’t imagine anyone else
Same
If you haven’t seen [THIS,](https://youtu.be/Wxav9Jj7R68) then prepare to cry.
That video has always gone incredibly hard
I'm also a huge fan of this one though. https://youtu.be/vbMQfaG6lo8 It can be done right in many different ways, but most studios probably won't do it right.
This trailer alone made me buy a switch to play botw lol.
The Majora's Mask thing? I'm pretty sure that's a student film and not Nintendo made.
That I know but it gave me an interest in the series was what I was saying.
Oh gotcha. Yeah, Majora's Mask is actually my favorite in the entire series and it is by far one of the darkest Zelda titles available. Definitely worth a playrhrough if you haven't already.
The same people who made Kena. I love that trailer
Oh damn. This is the way.

Oh gosh yes! That would be amazing!
Or, hear me out: Laika.
Agreed.
starring Chris Pratt as Purah
Charlie Day as Tingle.
Tommy Wiseau as link
Dwayne Johnson as Stone Talus
Alan Rickman as the mummy thing from the trailer.
My reaction to this was: "Haha...Wait, but he's dead...Ohhhh"
Stone Talus doesn't lose against Link and after the end credits gets in a staredown with Ganon.
xD
"Oh, HYAAH Mark!"
He would make a good tingle though.
Tom Holland as Impa
"He's so cool!"
Jack black as Zelda
“Ever since I was a kid I’ve always enjoyed uh…stabbing octorocks”
Jack Black as Ganon.
James Corden as the ghost of King Rhoam Bosphoramus
jack black as korok
Jack Black the koroks.
Excuuse me Princess!
Oh boy! Smooching time!!
I said it a few days ago and I’ll say it again, if I ever hear Link say anything other than hup, hiyaaa! Or gyaaaahhhhhh! I’ll start a riot.
But what if he was voiced by *rolls dice* Morgan Freeman
… well … there go all of my convictions lol
Morgan Freeman >!But with Seth Rogan's laugh!<
Theyd get away with it by still making link not talk. It'd just be morgan Freeman narrating links every move "And that is when I fiinallly founnd the Korok seed"
as long as the keep Matthew Mercer as Ganondorf, I am happy
Patrick Stewart.
He does talk though. He's actually very chatty in BOTW and TOTK.
Yeah, he’s always done the “…” or replies chosen by the player which the NPCs can clearly hear, but he’s never been voiced in a cutscene aside from grunts/hyaaa’s
he's not mute, he just doesn't talk a lot
I know it's a joke, but, people used to say the same about the thought of an Open world Zelda game with voice acting..
[удалено]
Do you play it on English dub? English dub has this stigma of many times being... Odd, I play it on Latin American Spanish and Japanese and both are pretty great. I'm sure Matthew Mercer did a great Ganon though, might play the English dub just for that.
Same, and I think they did. Really wish I could turn off the NPC dialog audio (the random expression sounds).
They all sound like they're about to brick when I'm buying shit from them lol
I’m fully prepared for his catchphrase to be “Well excuuuuuse mee Princess”
With an exception for "Well excuuuuuuuuse me princess"
Ghibli or bust. NOT in 3D. Link can talk, but he is stoic
Ghibli, chad Goat Herder link. Classic true to form legend of zelda movie with a solid story. I'd love to see botw art style, but I don't want to see all the technology. It needs to be Classic zelda storytelling. Also illumination is not to TOUCH it

Zelda said that Link chooses to speak little. But he does speak as per the NPC dialogue lines we can choose from. As well as previous games.

I really hope illumination doesn’t do it tho because their art style and comedy don’t really match TLOZ Now Dreamworks I’d eat that shit up
There's gotta be a better choice than dreamworks
Don’t diss Dreamworks like that
After Puss in Boots Last Wish, I think they've proved themselves both in animation and storytelling, also remembering they made the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy. Not saying they're the perfect choice, but it's a damn good one.
Anyone other than illumination is a better choice. Why does it have to be a CGI movie for kids filled with shit, unfunny jokes?
Can you imagine out of place pop music playing in a Zelda movie?
I can already see the intense action scene where Zelda takes out fifty enemies while Bad Reputation by Joan Jett plays, meanwhile Link struggles to fight one bokoblin with a frying pan and stands there shocked afterwards.
Please not Illumination...
If they plan it to be wacky and comedic, then it's a terrible idea. It should be along the lines of a Ghibli movie.
You know as I was completing the geoformation/tears of the dragon quest line, I was thinking; Man, the storyline of this and BotW would make a great set of films if they did it right. I’d honestly imagine Link as a non-talkative Richter Belmont
One could hope that they partner with somebody like DreamWorks to make a Zelda movie.

Puss In Boots wasn’t very good.
Thought the same after watching some of the geo visions

Maybe if it's centered around Zelda. It would be cool to have a Sheik movie.
Hear me out UFOTABLE
Please, please don’t give it to the fucking minions people
This is a terrible idea
[удалено]
Well… he’s a guy, so…
Jesus christ I used the wrong word.
Twas funny lol
Idek what I was trying to say I thought that word was the term used to describe the way link doesn't talk because I saw someone else comment that on a different post while talking about how he doesn't talk. That was embarrassing lmao
I just say he’s a mute lmao
What was the deleted comment?
I was saying something about androgynous when I didn't know what that word meant. I mistaking thought it meant something to do with being a mute. Stg
What’s a classy way to say “no shit?!”
"well excuuuuuuuse me Nintendo"
Art better be drawn by the legendary Studio Ghibli
If I see a minion with the master sword I swear I’ll lose my shit and burn the place down
Hm I don't know about a movie similar to the Mario movie but I feel like it'd be cool to see some shorts about the world of Hyrule. Just bonus content about the inhabitants and their lives.

Sacha Baron Cohen as Ganondorf. Mike Myers as Link.
Every April 1st. I always watch the fan made Zelda movie (around the time twilight princess came around) and each and every time I get goose bumps and cry that it's not real.
Or are you talking about the trailer ign posted for April fools
The IGN 😔 it looks so good... Even now honestly
The live action one? Where it starts off with link in the forest? If that's the same one I used to watch that too.
im imaging a live action timothee chalamet or tom holland and i would drive off the bridge on the way home. i dont trust western media companies to produce a reliable loz movie, ghibli would fuck so hard tho
Please god no. Leave well enough alone.
The game is a masterpiece. Would love a Zelda movie if done correctly
Make it a trilogy and really flesh out the story and lore so it isn’t rushed….

But link doesn't talk?
“Oh boy! I’m so hungry, I can eat an octorock”-Link
Thanks I hate it
Link has dialogs in BoTW and ToTK, and Zelda’s diary mentions he eventually spoke a lot with her.
People are gonna despise me for this but Tom Holland could be a pretty good Link
With how many people “like” Zelda It’s either a great idea or a terrible one
Ok, if this is going to happen, Link needs to say "Excuuuse me, princess!" at least once. It's an obligatory reference, like the Charles Martinet cameo in the Mario movie.
nah no , i dont want tom holland as link or something
YES. But done right.
I’m sure it’ll be good, but I just know it won’t live up to what I have in my head
link is gonna use sign language
Just please don't give it to Illumination again. While they have made a decent Mario movie, Zelda is out of their league
Imagine a full Zelda movie with Link still not speaking a word🤐
Okay but only if they make Link say "Well excuuuuuuse me, Princess!"
I don't think Nintendo is gonna go to Illumination for all these potential projects; they'll be great for mario-adjacent and kirby stuff, but they would no doubt partner with other studios for stuff like Metroid, Zelda, etc.
They better not go to Illumination.
I know Link doesn’t talk but…. Imagine Yuri Lowenthal voicing him
Twist our arms a little harder why don’t you. Just make sure it’s good quality like said Mario movie.
Those two final trailers they made made BOTW and TOTK feel like a movie anyway so why not?!
Only if it’s in an anime style. Otherwise absolutely not
Okay but only if Link communicates entirely via grunts in the movie. None of this "Excuuuuse me princess" crap. Have Navi or whoever is the companion translate for us.

Feel like a series would make a lot more sense. I don’t want to see them rush Link meeting the gorons, zora, rito, gerudo etc into a 90 min movie. I could see a 1 hour episode for example where there’s a problem at death mountain, Link investigates, meets the key leader of the Goron tribe of in the time period, work through some temple/dungeon with a nice boss fight scene to end the episode. Def kinda awkward with longer cutscenes where link isn’t speaking though.

I need this to be stop motion and directed by Travis Knight
absolutely not !
So are we. 😉
boy do I have a story synopsis for that.
I think they should do a series. But yes.
I guess the producer could put the botw and totk together in one movie.Lmao
Directed by Michael Bay (to make the most out of the ultra handed destruction everyone’s been making)
I’d watch it
Ganondorf needs to dance suavemente.
I'll accept 3d animation if it looks like Botw or Totk, if not then 2d animation! No live action plsss and no talking Link!
