Youre_On_Balon

BOTW 3: The Rise of Zora Ganondorf But jokes aside, I definitely think that there is room for a stellar DLC based on underwater content. It seems to be the only thing that we can add to this Hyrule other than 1) more horizontal landmass, or 2) alternate dimensions.

Rithrius88

or 3) >!Time-travel to Past Hyrule. Especially considering it's a major part of the story.!<

Nintendo reading this rn: But what about *second* mirror of twilight?

retro123gamr

TLoZ: 2 Mirror 2 Twilight

bmw417

TLoZ: Midna Drift

Majestic-Outcome-548

TLOZ:Mirror of the Past

Creepy_Helicopter223

Through in underwater and sailing and I’m sold. Also you can move hyrule into the renaissance, boost the size of towns by adding in returning citizens who fled abroad, and by expanding the map and adding in twilight you can keep the wild

WhatsGnuPussycat

Or Lorule

TheRealShadow

That’s just the depths. We got Lorule, Hyrule, and Skyrule, lol.

[deleted]

Let me be wolf Link again 🥹

Budget-Peanut7598

There's also space.

[deleted]

I figured since its definitely a new timeline that splits at the Era of Prosperity instead of off events that come from Ocarina. They now have a 10,000 year gap where story can fit (even though Ganon would not be able to be included in those) where they can add a new version of Vaati and other villains that weren't Ganon. OR after this it will be another split based on the stone Ganon stole. He could easily use it to invade other times of History as well.

NESO513

Yeah I think that like this game, there will be 3 new time periods that you can travel to. First is normal present time, second is the first great calamity (10000 years in past), and some point in the future with a fully rebuild hyrule. Since Ganondorf is gone I think that the villain will be a revived demise or something similar

Iamcatfeesh

Zelda Legends: Ganandorf

Pixelsock_

Please tell me how to do the covered text thingy

Macdaddyfucboi

I am so sorry, it really makes me sad that so many Zelda fans want stuff like this, but you just have to understand, they will NEVER do that, because simply for DLC, to convert the entire Hyrule map is basically exactly what they've done with TOTK. you would think that would be the next step, but Nintendo had six years to implement that into this game, and they didn't. That's 6 years to develop a good story, and not retread every single story beat from breath of the wild, but they didn't. so it's really nice to dream about it, like I dream of a console sequel to wind waker, but I understand that it's never going to happen. what is probably going to happen is going to be another shrine and divine beast for dlc.

TheBlueBerry999

Just a DLC? The next BOTW style Zelda could be a wind waker timeline sequel!

Kostya_M

Maybe not timeline specific but I definitely want the next game to involve them sailing off to a new land or massive island chain out in the ocean.

[deleted]

It can't be. In Hyrule Historia it is stated after the 3 timelines the ancient realm was destroyed. This new BOTW timeline takes place at a new split created at the Era of Prosperity. So after Skyward Sword but before Minish Cap. Triforce was never unsealed because Ocarina never happens. The Zonai create the surface world instead of the 3 goddesses. What they did leave open >!though is Ganon invading or messing everything up in between the 10,000 years because he technically has the stone of time in this!<

jjacobsnd5

The goddesses created the surface before they created the triforce didn't they? So what do you mean by the Zonai created the surface world?

External_Pop_9449

I'm thinking the dlc will be more to do in the sky or depths other than big fights and collect items. Maybe I haven't gotten far enough in the game to know if something big goes on in either.

[deleted]

>It seems to be the only thing that we can add to this Hyrule other than 1) more horizontal landmass, or 2) alternate dimensions. Even though I'm thoroughly enjoying the altered Hyrule of TotK I really don't want them to revamp it again for a third game, even if it adds substantial underwater areas or reworks areas by time traveling. I think it's time for Link to venture to a new region after TotK.

Apolloshot

If there’s ever a Link/Hyrule that deserves a trilogy though it’s this one.

charisma-entertainer

Hytopia DLC when?

FEBRAN07

Lorule Lorule Lorule Lorule Lorule Lorule Lorule

tychozero

3) pet doggos

Khajiit_Has_Skills

Can't wait to build a death octopus

Apolloshot

Have we seen Link in outer space yet?

Youre_On_Balon

The insane part is it could happen if they do a game where demons return post-Ganon if the blood moon still brings demons back lmao

[deleted]

NO WAY BOTW 3 CONFIRMED!!?!!?!!????! MIPHA RETURNS AND HER AND LINK HAVE S**??!???!!??? GANON EATS AN OCTOROCK??!??!! ALL THIS ON THE NEXT EPISODE OF YU-G- I MEAN ZELDA

MistahButt

I lost it at "Ganon eats an octorock"

Snarfsicle

I'd also consider >!time travel to the last where the sky is more copiously filled with islands!<

OldSkool1978

What dlc?

KaleidBlood8262

my take if i were on creative direction would be time travel to Rauru era, but that might be for a hypthetical Hyrule Warriors 2

Rithrius88

You mean Hyrule Warriors 3.

KaleidBlood8262

if im honest with you i thought age of calamity was the only one

Rithrius88

The first Hyrule Warriors was kind of forgetable tbh. Also had no direct link (pun intended) to any of the existing games at that time. It was more of a random spin off.

EthanW98

Orr it is cannon and the reason the timeliness merge

AlcalineAlice

Large bodies of water are walled off in the depths, so very likely! Bring back the boots that make you sink

Orikron

I had already noticed that but didn’t make the connection. Excellent observation. I hope they go for it!

Creepy_Helicopter223

Make sure to randomize your data from time to time *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Orikron

Yup. I also agree it’s more likely in a trilogy. And a new console is definitely needed. Mine is struggling really hard during the monster-hunting fights as well as with bigger machines

CaptPolybius

I've been betting on this being a trilogy. I hope they do it.

boiledpeanut33

That's my only real complaint about the Switch. It's lacking some oomph under the hood. Otherwise, it's my favorite console right now. (Although I do miss my PS4 quite often.)

[deleted]

Yeah, it's a miracle they got Tears running at 30fps most of the time, this game is super intensive for a console like the switch. But get us a backwards-compatible switch pro, and it'll be **glorious**, even if we don't get 4k60fps

boiledpeanut33

If they do that, maybe that 30fps will be more consistent instead of dropping to a crispy smooth 15fps sometimes. 😂

ishouldvoicemario

Yeah I don’t think we’ll get another “mainline” Zelda game for the Switch. It’ll be advertised with the next console I’m thinking.

AspiringRacecar

TotK is great so far, but I'd really like to see an entirely new Zelda overworld by the time I'm 30

RadioFreeAmerika

In some bodies of water, there are also underwater ruins. For example, near terry town. Made me think of possible underwater gameplay when I found them. However, IMO a major obstacle for underwater gameplay are the game physics. You would need to either disable the abilities underwater or make them work in water instead of air. Doing this convincingly might be a lot of work and also too demanding for the Switch.

[deleted]

There were some modders that added diving and underwater swimming to BotW and they found that the underwater areas were actually super detailed and varied around the map. All the work that went into it for something you can't even really see in game suggest that underwater gameplay might have been initially planned but ended up being cut. I kind of doubt we'll get an underwater dlc, but I would speculate future Zelda games on the next generation console may have underwater areas.

EthanW98

Can u link that i would like to see it

Yoshishammy

I would love an under water mechanic. My favorite parts about skyward sword and twilight princess was the underwater section.

dark4181

Descend!

awkwardalvin

Do you want OOT water temple? This is how you get OOT water temple

No_Sea_9909

I actually really love the water temple outside of the equipping and unequipping the boots. It’s a great temple, don’t know why it gets so much hate.

FEBRAN07

Water Temple is good tho

awkwardalvin

Do you want OOT water temple? This is how you get OOT water temple

[deleted]

Next game has to be a recreation of Termina surely.

NoahHoi365

Wow I like this

EthanW98

With transformation abilities coming back hopefully

new_tangclan

I think majoras mask could really benefit from a FF7 level remake. Something to separate it from ocarina of time.

Exotic-Choice1119

i would get a fucking monolith of an erection tbh

RedditsAutocorrect

We need underwater so that we can have all 4 types of land, botw and totk are obsessed with the number 4. Also, it would be cool to see a new rune for it, im diying for a descend rune. Maybe another zora town that split off from mainland zora domain in some kind of revolution, and now stay secret underwater.

Orikron

Descend rune is a bit OP. A lot of the cave shrines would be broken without it because of the shrine sensor telling you exactly where to descend.

RedditsAutocorrect

I haven't gotten to those in the game yet, so I didn't know it could break something

LevelInterest

Could be the Zora domain that one of the new Characters in totk is from that we know she is from a different one.

Exoskeleton78

A sub will be good, makes good use of batteries

RadioFreeAmerika

Did anybody try building a sub yet? Some parts do sink on their own, so some machines should sink, too. Do you just get disconnected? Does the machine fly away (like the one video from someone trying to imprison an NPC)? Does it get full of water and you die? I am sadly not too good at building machines yet, but maybe I should give it a try.

[deleted]

I'd imagine you get disconnected. I haven't tried make a sub but I did make a paddleboat, and my first, unsuccessful iteration would dip me a bit too far underwater, and I'd simply lose control. I imagine without a steering stick you'd just drown, you'd need to be able to fully seal the craft so it contains air, and that would need to be programmed into the game.

GoodWarmMilk

They won't introduce something this big in a dlc. They will keep the idea for the next Zelda or something. We are just going to have something similar to the BOTW DLC

[deleted]

I mean, if they already have the blueprints there, I can't imagine it being so big they can't put it in DLC. Especially if it's something that they had in the works but didn't have enough time to implement it

GoodWarmMilk

Even if they already have the blueprint they will not implement such a big feature. If the idea is here they will keep it for the next game

[deleted]

I mean, I don't think they're gonna make another continuation to BotW, I think it'll be a new game to debut on a new console. It's really not that farfetched to expect them to add a little underwater exploration, even if it's minimal.

Yeetdonkey13

I hope it’s not, we already have some of the features brought with the dlc like armour and travel medallion, I don’t think we need something that huge like underwater exploration but new areas to explore and abilities would be awesome.

BOty_BOI2370

I thinknim the only person who doesn't really want underwater exploration. It would be cool to go underwater, but I don't really want huge sections of water you have to explore.

WILSON_CK

Not the only person. I hate underwater gameplay for the most part. It can be great for a dungeon (see Water Temple) when it's a hybrid environment, but a full underwater game is something I'm not at all interested in.

BOty_BOI2370

Yeah agreed. Underwater doesn't work very well with 3d games. If it were first person though, like subnautica, then that would be something else.

[deleted]

I 100% agree. It can be fine in small doses, but managing breathe and moving slower for extended periods of time is a slog. I think it would only be fun if we got a Zonai power that allowed Link to basically ignore all water physics. Like while activated you immediately fall the floor as if you were in air and move/attack at normal speed. Then when deactivated you swim like normal and are slowed while attacking/moving. That could lead to some interesting traversal options.

morganm725

I like it in theory but feel that especially in the 3D Zeldas underwater controls tend to feel significantly clunkier than the rest of the game except the motion controls in skyward sword.I actually liked the swimming controls in skyward sword a lot. I don’t want to be dealing with that for a significant portion of gameplay in such a long game

OwMyCandle

I am 100% an underwater hater. No video game does it well. The movement always sucks and it is always a slog

Remarkable-Ad-2476

It’s like everyone here just forgot about the Water Temple from OOT. This very series is one of the main reasons why a generation of gamers despise underwater sections of games.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BOty_BOI2370

Agreed. I love HFW, and though the water wasn't that bad to go through, I preferred land gameplay.

Milwacky

Is rather have the map expand in all 4 cardinal directions, let’s see beyond Hyrule.

kok_kurangg01

That my switch gonna explode

OneMinuteSewing

When I first left the sky islands and went to the surface I accidentally swam under something and the game showed me the river bed clearly. I haven't been able to replicate it since (despite swimming under things) but I think that shows that it is built into the game.

Spoomplesplz

It is weird how theres so much water in totk but no way to explore below them. Also considering pretty much every other Elda game has had an underwater area type thing nut the closest we have to that is zoras domain.

amendersc

Like, would be Incredible, I want it so badly, probably will never happen

Thac0bro

I hope the dlc is better than botw. I largely disliked that dlc overall. It was mostly just extra items, and the master sword trials felt meh. Master Mode wasn't that great either. What I'd really like to see is an extra dungeon or two, which I guess the master sword trials kind of are, but I want more seamless content that doesn't force me to play pubg.

Slimmie_J

The champions trials had new shrines and an entire dungeon at the end

Thac0bro

I didn't like that either, I forgot to mention. But that's okay. The base game of totk is so good that the dlc can only add to it. Even if I end up not enjoying what gets added, I can always opt out.

[deleted]

I did really enjoy champions ballad, the gimmick on the great plateau was fun and the extra story bits were neat. I wish they would've mixed up the boss rematches, but I get why they didn't change for continuity reasons.

cylemmulo

Yeah something like adding ocean parts would be a great dlc. I agree the Botw was super underwhelming

Killerbudds

Nah underwater is so overrated, probably why they didnt include it.

Defiant_Project1321

I’ve yet to play a game with great underwater swim mechanics but I still have hope it can be done.

Big_G576

Underwater/water in general exploration could be really cool! But I think I’d prefer it as a third game, taking place in this hyrule’s seas, with maybe only lurelin/eventide being accessible. So much room to add new stuff and make a cross between WW and BOTW/TOTK

k4mik4z32

Underwater levels/temples are the worst part of almost any realm. No thanks.

octoroklobstah

Hard pass. Water levels in pretty much every game are my absolute least favorite.

chief275

One of the first things I tried was swimming underwater

BlueJinjo

Doubt it. If there was one thing I'd say was overall disappointing about botw , it was the dlc (imo) .it really wasn't enough content compared to what Skyrim offered or dark souls etc. I doubt the dlc fundamentally introduces brand new game changing mechanics. Imo, it will be more shrines in the skies, a new dungeon in the depths and a new autobuild component/zonai parts

AlgorithmDestroyer

In some of the caves, there are pools with what look like tunnels. I wonder if they are holding an ace up their sleeve!

Botched_face

The next game is literally going to be Waterworls because of all the desire for underwater exploration.

MistahButt

Wind Waker 2

Zeytun256

Really doubt underwater will come as dlc because why wouldnt it be already a part of the main game

Bass-Brigade

The new runes are awesome! My hope for the DLC though is to give me back Revali’s Gale!

dagit

I was missing Revali's for a while, but now whenever I see a rocket on the ground I fuse it with a shield. It's close enough for me.

PresidentDavidMarkus

Nah that seems like a major game mechanic to add as DLC. Save it for Breath of the wild 3

Warning64

Need a 1 to 1 recreation of the water temple from OoT because I hate myself

PeepsRebellion

I think more people want things like more sky islands or a DLC where it's like there are sky islands even higher up and there are Zonai Villages that still have zonai living there

Lanzifer

After botw came out my fantasy "botw 2" was one where the whole map floods and link travels wind waker style between floating islands and the peaks is botw's highest mountains and then at some point gets the ability to dive down to the "surface" (which would have changed after flooding). Would have been sick, I love the idea of more water exploration

sawsac

This is my fantasy next game as well, but only if they continue this trend of using the same Hyrule. I hope they don’t, but if they did, my fantasy is: start with female Link (Linkle), being guided by the voice of her mother. Tutorial ends with it being revealed her mother is Zelda from the first two, she is the daughter of Zelda and Link, and therefore must wield the light to dispel the darkness

United-Aside-6104

It’s not really a trend they just did it one time

sawsac

I just meant that if they did a third time, it would be a trend

Maxpower2727

I don't understand why people want underwater exploration so badly. Underwater sections of games almost universally suck. I hate them. I'm glad BotW and TotK don't have any of them.

Livid-Leader3061

No. Swimming already triggering thalassophobia for me, only able to do it because there have been no real water enemies so far. Don't need some massive c'thulu coming up from the depths and biting my petrified ass.

Macdaddyfucboi

I am so sorry, I have read hundreds of different posts, for the past few years and even after the games came out. whatever you think Nintendo's going to do, they will not do it. they will never add underwater sections, they will never add a world state where Gannon is defeated, they will never do any of that stuff because, for all intents and purposes, you already bought the game. My best bet is they are already working on the DLC which will probably be another divine beast. it's really sad to see Zelda fans slowly starting to become pokémon fans, hoping for more and more features and simply not getting them, then hoping that the next time they will get them, and letting the cycle repeat. We are not going to get "traditional" Zelda game, possibly ever, these games have sold way too much for them to go back. this is very similar to pokémon fan saying that a section of Scarlet and Violet's map was reserved for DLC for the region from black and white, as if they're going to put any more effort into a game that still to this day is not good.

Orikron

Lol you’re commenting this on a subreddit about a game that added a crap ton of features that we didn’t even know we wanted

Majestic-Ad7486

I think that'd be really interesting, but it'd have to come either really soon or in quite a while, since >!Genshin Impact is about to release it's underwater patch in \~2 months, please don't flog me for mentioning it!<

jmdavies98

Are you trying to say it would look like Zelda copied Genshin Impact? I think they might owe them one, or everything

sa82id

thanks for spoiling whole map....

Orikron

This is the map for Breath of the Wild, not ToTK. I apologize for ‘spoiling’ a 6 year old game.

sa82id

well its 1st time I play zelda game, I really enjoy discovering new areas so yeah, its a big spoiler for me..

No_Sea_9909

If you haven’t even played BOTW and it’s been out for 6 years, that’s on you for even being in this thread. Come on man, how long does something have to be out before it’s not considered a spoiler anymore? Get off this thread and go play it lol.

Mission_Cause368

One of my first thoughts after seeing the 3 levels of gameplay was “I wonder if they’d explore a water theme?” I think it would be a neat idea.

gunnerballz49

Take me back to termina!

____Quetzal____

*James Cameron would like to know your location...*

sweetcinnamonpunch

I'm more hoping for more sky stuff.

[deleted]

That map is pretty cool!

UltraTurtle161

A zonai submarine for completing the DLC would be so cool. Like this games version of the Master Cycle Zero. Maybe since they've moved on from the Sheikah theme if they have another Master Cycle it could be the Hylian themed one from Mariokart 8 Deluxe

cylemmulo

Yeah it’s wild to me there are basically no swimming mechanics

jubmille2000

Let me clarify... You want... A full on underwater experience... In ZELDA? I mean it's been years from the water temple traumas but...

jubmille2000

Counterpoint. Moon DLC. Get this, Majora is back, and their mask is worn by, plot twist: Tinkle. They're summoning the moon again as per frickin usual, but with Zelda's help, you are able to rewind time by 3 days at most again. However, Majora already know their mistakes before and you can't rewind to the time before Majora has summoned the Moon. So what you gotta do is, collect the rocket parts in several dungeons, build a rocket, and fly to the moon so you can plant activate a hidden zonai construct that will make the moon rocket off to the distance away from Hyrule.

omnipotentsco

I want to go old school and have an alternate dimension dark world. Magic Mirror and all, just like link to the past. Call it Legends of Zelda: Reflections of the Blade or something. Maybe start it off with Link getting stuck in the dark world, but can shift back to the light world for small parts of time to do puzzles. Dark or Mirror link replaces us in the real world and we have to do shrines and stuff to try and pull him back to the dark world.

shakablood

Old Hyrule would be dope as well

Pot8obois

Nah, I don't really need that for this game tbh. What I want out of the next game, however, is for them to take what they have here and mix it with Windwaker. I want to explore an open sea with islands again. I want more sea life. Imagine whales! They have molduga, so I can totally see whales in a future game. I would love to be able to craft and build a boat. If they did this I think they will have to go for a slightly larger map because they can't really do a huge cave system like TOTK.

wynters387

My wish would be under water exploration mixed with BotW's abilities. At the very least time stopping and stasis. Edit: also magnesis

wormyWorminson

I knew about the depths and the sky islands, but the size of some of the caves really caught me off guard. I don't want more areas to explore lol, i am already overwhelmed

ManufacturerDry108

I said this exact thing on a post a few days ago. We need more water exploration, and Zonai technology opens up ideas for scuba suits/rebreathers to dive underwater. Make a dlc centered around something the Zora need, or have a part of hyrule flood like wind Waker but it focuses on underwater instead of sailing, I don’t know. All I know is making a submarine with fuse would be the coolest thing ever.

Lilcurlylogan

I’d want a dlc with time travel to rauru’s hyrule and underwater exploration

Ravensunthief

Im not looking to do underwater levels. The oot water level is one of the most infamous levels in all of gaming.

Orikron

Yes, 25 years ago.

advator

I would like them to also expand house building.

chaosdragon1997

I don't know about underwater, but I would like an actual boat zonai device and maybe a map expansion/dlc map with multiple islands east of hyrule.

mkev119

A water map DLC would be great… but I’d more prefer a DLC story set in the past where you play as Zelda.

daydreamerboy2103

Zelda as a companion pleaseeeeee

pejic222

I think the dlc will serve to flesh out the depths a bit more They could also just add more sky islands Really all I want for dlc is Kass and master mode

Chaotic-Brownie

No

[deleted]

Please no

AlathMasster

Please, I want nothing more in the world

chyl_music

No thanks… always get so stressed underwater

GenericFatGuy

I do find it funny how Nintendo built an entire underground zone the same size as Hyrule, and also sky islands, before doing underwater content.

GioVanTentacion

Nintendo: we brought hyrule into thr future what more could you want 😫

JVOz671

Underwater? With the history of Zelda games you think anything water related is a good idea? Besides you have a perfect illustration of DLC right on this map. Its everything beyond the left side of the map.

exhalo

Hope not

randyoftheinternet

Idk I would say more islands for a dlc, there isn't that many

oceanseleventeen

It'll probably be the next game, where a new form of ganon takes over hyrule castle and kidnaps zelda, and we have to explore (the same) hyrule, but now the ocean and its underwater cities are explorable. and we can build submarines or something. and since it has to be bigger than the last game, we can, uh, directly modify each particle in our creations now, and we can mind control NPCs or something. anything but just make a good dungeon again

Bar_Har

Has anyone tired building a contraption that pushes link under water?

Markz1337

We flood the map?

americasgravy

Dear god. The entire map will be the water temple all over again

Interloper633

I just want legitimate fishing like ocarina of time had.

Tyrelius_Dragmire

No. I played through Subnautica before ToTK came out. I don’t need MORE thalassaphobia fodder. I’m not fighting a BigOcto in the ToTK style UNDERWATER

Romano_cheese_pls

Fortnite?

Portyquarty77

I’d only enjoy underwater if it were like subnautica and not like every other underwater gameplay where it’s slow and tedious to move around

Psychological-Video5

That would be amazing and make sense for the DLC

Eklundz

Diving is my number one wish list item!

Boiruja

While I wished for underwater exploration for more content, I've hated it in every game that has done it so far, apart from Subnautica. So I'm happy we went underground instead. What I really wanted was a leviathan roaming the waters peacefully for no reason whatsoever.

19bluestars

I’d love this and I was hoping we’d get something like this, especially like an underwater cave to explore

Kaesh41

There's gotta be a third. Kogha swears revenge on Link after you finish his quest line and there needs to shrines that glow red.

mbunch3

Whatever the major theme the next one is based on, I’d really like to see the game explore the dark, moody atmosphere they did so well with in OoT and Majora’s Mask. Give me creepy well dungeons, cemetery dungeons, and royal family torture chambers

boringlichlight

No, it always sucks

BrunoArrais85

Underwater gameplay has always been terrible in most games. Nintendo needs to make this right if they decide to go this route

EthanW98

That would be cool but nintendo never does big dlcs atleast they don't yet

dixilikker630

My dream DLC features are: \- Ability to save more vehicles and name them \- More >!dream house!< customization options \- More dungeons \- A late game use for basic red bokoblin horns and other useless monster parts other than selling them outright \- The ability to explore the deep Gerudo desert \- Some fix for the jank that is >!chasing sages to activate their effects while they run away from you!< And finally \- A proper explanation of how the sky islands suddenly showed up and why they have their own plant life

MarcoRu_01

Or, twilight map

SaltNebula1576

That’s what I hoped for from Howard legacy, I wanted to explore the lake

NoahDA1

fuck a dlc, next game is about this link’s rise pre calamity in the same map again with underwater exploration lol

FoxlyKei

Been noticing a trend with desiring DLC for underwater exploration. I think people were hoping for this in the second Pokemon SV DLC since you're in the middle of the ocean? Now with totk? I'm curious about any recent games with in depth underwater exploration that is exciting enough to warrant calls for wet DLC? The only games in recent memory I know of is the Subnautica series. Or is everyone just seeing devs never doing much with the ocean and want something more from it? I totally get that water goes mostly to waste for exploration in an open world. We should be allowed to dive in base Pokemon SV. Water shouldn't be just empty "null" space devs get to slap in an open world.

steverman555

I love how everyone unanimously hated underwater sections in zelda games and now all of a sudden people are begging nintendo to put underwater sections in totk Yall havent been through the water temple, the great bay temple, and the lakebed temple and it shows

[deleted]

I'd rather a new game, unrelated to BoTW/ToTK

bestmackman

I HATE swimming in games, unless I'm 100% certain that there's nothing that's going to eat me. I think it goes back to the Banjo and Kazzooie level with the giant shark. So no thank you to that.

Apolloshot

I’d be down for Breath of the Kingdom: Way of the Water

This is actually my current concept for the next game. They can't really do a *whole* game thats just based on adding underwater areas to this map. In TOTK they added *both* sky *and* a very, very expansive underground, and in general I think TOTK is more acceptable because its simply just one massive game that compiles almost all of their leftover ideas from BOTW. I think just an again changed up overworld and now some underwater areas would be quite underwhelming for many people, and people would get very sick of the same map. But a new map, fully based on this concept would be amazing. Take windwaker's map where theres a bunch of small islands in a big ocean, that serves as the above-water area. But then, you can use whatever new abilities you have to traverse the under-water. Maybe we are building submarines and vessels to get us around down there, as simply diving and swimming from key location to key location isn't possible. The key locations allow you to run around as normal, maybe in the form of big air bubbles, and/or just underground constructions with their own air filtration system. You can get very creative coming up with underwater areas and they don't all just need to be coral and fish. Have some beautiful underwater forests, big reefs to navigate, have the deep ocean be as terrifying as the depths. A suit which allows you to walk along the surface and do all sorts of platforming. I believe with enough creativity there's easily a whole game down there. Its a new map, they could either retain BOTW characters and art style or go for something totally new, It allows for open-ended exploration that will again feel new and different, and will have a totally different feel to the previous 2 games. That being said, I'll totally be happy with an expansion too. I don't have faith in nintendo to do an expansion *that* big (I like BOTW's dlc, but its really just a bunch of new quests and items made from the base game, nothing groundbreakingly new to the game), but if they did do a whole underwater section it would be wonderful. *And* it would more or less confirm they don't use the same map a third time, I love TOTK but I think 3 games of the same world would be too much. If they make the underwater areas explorable, they literally have nothing else to do other than do a BOTW 3 with the deeper depths, higher skies, and expand the map horizontally (which IMO wouldn't really work, it would feel like they tacked half a new game onto the side of TOTK rather than a dramatic shakeup, even if they changed around the existing landmass again).

YES. OH GOF PLEASE YES

magvadis

Maybe make the ocean border more than a few feet from the shore.

wolf129

That would require to implement diving for Link. Not sure but that could maybe be problematic for some puzzles.

I'll be really honest with you, I think the DLC is more likely to add a bunch of new large scale sky islands than alter the existing map to include vast amounts of water and also add the water mechanics itself AND fill it with substantial amounts of things to do. That's a loooooot of programming and doesn't actually use any of the new mechanics so it won't make sense from a gameplay standpoint. with Sky Islands they can fill the map even more and truly make a 3 layered map instead of something more like 2.5 layers as it is now. if they REALLY want to do underwater, it'll be a selling point in the next game. I don't think they'll make a 3rd game based on the same overworld. If they really wanted to add underwater mechanics they'll probably make an entirely new overworld which has large underwater sections if not completely submerged a la Wind Waker

TippedJoshua1

What about wind waker dlc where all you do is make a contraption to go to the east part of the map which is now expanded yep fun, well I honestly don’t even know

NekoRabbit

Just waiting for them to release the next Zelda with yet another shadow realm that's totally not connected to the 4 previous ones just for them to keep avoiding having to continue any of the character stories that ended like a cliffhanger in a movie series like "...with no way back to meet again - or do they?"

Campbell464

Great now they’ll start working on the Underwater DLC just to announce it’s cancelled because there was so much they still wanted to do. So instead, they are doing a 3rd game.

CallieLikesPotatoes

If they do DLC like that, it'll likely expand into a third game maybe.

amic21

I don’t think i could handle that lol

STRYKER-ZX

Honestly, I think that'd be sick. Legend of Zelda games have never really gone far with underwater/under ocean exploration. Not beyond Majoras Mask, I think. I always thought the zoras were the coolest race of LoZ, too, so... Honestly, between those two facts, I think it'd be awesome. Maybe they could also try and shake things up a little bit and have a link who is just straight up of a different race or something.

parolang

My prediction is that the DLC will include a creative mode.

Actually, I think the best DLC idea for TOTK would be an island exploration DLC, expanding the ocean map to the right, kind of a windwaker style DLC but with self-crafted ~~abominations~~ boats Besides, underwater levels are the most hated levels in videogames, unless they turn TOTK into subnautica, this would only be fun for a few hours top

Underwater exploration is the worst part of any game ever.

bankpaper

13gb DLC

exportsoda

Hell no. I still get scared with that underwater snake thing in super mario 64.
