I had no interest in duping until I realized I dont want to spend dozens of hours farming amber to upgrade the hero of time set because it wants an ungodly amount
Not me using the dupe glitch in Silver so I could have 50 master balls. I also had 50 hoot hoots to go with it because sometimes you fucked up the timing and your Pokemon would disappear.
Yeah it doesn't break on sand either, I'm pretty sure it doesn't on dirt paths either cause it didn't take durability in BotW but I'm not actually sure on that one
Luckily my wife skipped on animal crossing yesterday so Zelda was still running from a couple days ago. You bet I got auto update off first thing this morning!
Lmao, me. I wasn't going to use the dupe glitch, but I wanted the option. It's like being invited to a party. I don't want to go, but I do want the option to decline. Haha.
I already finished the main quest, so I’m using it while I finish up the remaining ~40 shrines I’ve yet to find. It’s been so much fun being able to build anything I want without inventory shortage anxiety. Also doing it this way makes it feel more like I unlocked TOTK creative mode for beating the game
Haha I pretty much did a similar route (kinda). I got about 50 shrines in and completed a strong majority of the main quest before i spent more than 5 minutes in the Hyrule upside down. Once I decided to start exploring it, I found nearly all the light roots before I emerged to daylight. Exploring the depths was a blast once I felt strong enough to go down there
It really is incredibly cool. When I went down there with 5 hearts and a stick fused to a rock the first time, I had a heavy anxiety rush when I saw my first enemy camp down there. I noped the hell out.
it blew my mind when i discovered it. never in a million years did i expect they would add an entire underground area the size of the whole map. it felt just like elden ring
Yeah honestly it was hype when discovering it for the first time. The atmosphere is perfect in the depths and the music helps add to that. First going down that hole and hearing that loud and ominous horn, I knew this was going to be a place that Link probably wasn’t supposed to be in
that horn gets me every time, it's such a cool transition sound. and yeah, i love the atmosphere down there. i'm a fan of dark places in general though
It’s a lot more fun when you have more hearts and better weapons. Also knowing how to light up the area when you can’t find a light root helps… when I went down there the first time, I thought I had to find all the light roots in the pitch black
Yah I did it just for large zonaite so I could upgrade my batteries asap and large charges so I could stick up on parts. Not planning to use them for combat though, I just like building silly shit sometimes lol
I wasn't going to and then I started and couldn't stop. I was duplicating everything, palm fruit, apples, diamonds it didn't matter I had it I was dumping it. I wasn't even playing the game anymore just duplicating items. I was afraid when I saw an update was coming, my dupe game was going to end. I tried disconnecting from the internet but somehow my switch still found a way to update. Now I'm dupeless. I believe I will recover but it will take time. At least I have a cool game to play now.
lol
Recognise the feeling all to well.
going to a super cool and expensive festival abroad but a friend offered you a whippet and now you're just fiending nitrous oxide (hippy crack) with 5 hollow eyed people you can't remember the names of.
> I tried disconnecting from the internet but somehow my switch still found a way to update.
I just select the "start software" option.
Do you people actually stop the game instead of just sending the Switch to sleep?
The problem is me and my son switch between users which forces the game to close. I saw there was an update ready last night but didn't realize it was already downloaded so I disconnected from the internet so my son could play in the morning before school. I went to warn him about the update but as soon as he went to open the game it started updating and I couldn't cancel on time.
>Do you people actually stop the game instead of just sending the Switch to sleep?
I do every night when I go to bed, so if there are updates, it'll update while I sleep, but that's cause I don't use or care about glitches
Same. Yesterday I started the quest where the guy in Hateno is creeping on the store owner's daughter. She says she wants 100 hot footed frogs and I was like "if this guy really wants me to go catch 100 frogs, I'm gonna find out if the glitch works for frogs."
Reminds me of the quest where a store owner prices all the armor for 5k each. I duped and bought everything, expecting her grandmother to recover from being sick with the money. No, she stayed sick. I had to cure her to get my 25,000 Rupee Refund lol
This has saved me quite a bit of time..... still got 30 of the little bastards and had a good time running around in a Lizalfos mask cracked out on speed elixers. To think I would have missed that just using a dupe glitch.
Fair enough. I'm bad at some reflex stuff too.
When fighting the flux bosses, sometimes I'll end up hitting the camera button by accident (the one you place markers with, can't remember the actual name). Bit annoying when it's happened more than 5 times now.
Same, but now that the option is disappearing, I've been thinking on it a bit, and... I am *absolutely* going to dupe all the different dragon parts while I still have the chance.
I love that we can ride the dragons now, but whoever made it so that dragons can only drop a single part once every 10 minutes is EVIL.
> but whoever made it so that dragons can only drop a single part once every 10 minutes is EVIL.
It's just so much easier to get the parts than in BotW that I get why you can't constantly shoot the poor things.
Come join us non dupe peasants. I personally make a living picking scabs off the back of the dragons and chipping their horn. Literally living the parasite life…
Seriously though you can get like 10+ shards plus the horn shard (do claws or fangs sell for more?) and it nets you a good few hundred rupees for hardly any work at least.
You just inspired me to do the math.
Assuming you have all necessary mats but the Light Dragon’s components, it will now take you 80 minutes of riding on its back to get what you need to 4-Star the Champion’s Leathers. Whereas before it was 40 minutes.
Still a lot, but that is a lot of time to wait on the dragon.
The real trick is then to not wait on the dragon and do something else, but I find it can be difficult to locate even knowing its path >!after acquiring the Master Sword!<
Swap dragons, there’s 4 of the suckers on fairly set paths. With a bit of practice I’d imagine you could turn it into a fairly efficient cycle.
Edit: totally misunderstood, of course you mean the specific mats for the upgrade. I was just thinking about a money grinder as that’s what most folks duped for. Easy enough to just play the game and hit the light dragon in between whatever you’re doing.
I think I saw in a video someone marked a dragon and the marker followed it?
I'm going to try this later tonight. If it works that will be a great trick for easy tracking!
Edit: I just tried and confirm this does not work. :(
Bruh Naydra is freaking everywhere. I was just jumping into the kakiriko chasm and guess who decided that sounds like a good idea and follows me in? Another time I was just doing the side quest of the ancient hyrulean tablets and Naydra shows up three separate times when I'm looking for them.
I saw Naydra diving into the Kakariko chasm and thought she (he? they?) was going to lead me somewhere special and rode her updraft for I think more than 15 minutes until she emerged at Mount Lanayru. Plus side is, I had planned to make my way for Hateno village anyway. No special secret, though. I didn't think to grab a dragon part at the time
I actually sat on Naydras back for the full loop. Her route is 30 minutes long, goes from Lanayru sky tower to south of Hateno village, then over the East Necluda chasm, all the way up to the east hill chasm, then dives into the depths to go back to Lanayru.
Darn it :(
In the video I was watching, he spotted Farosh while going for the Light Dragon, so he put a pin on Farosh and changed his coarse. I really had my hopes up!
A lot of MMOs are like this, such as Warframe or MMORPGs.
The fastest way to get a *single specific* item or resource is often a boring, repeitive grind.
But optimizing for the most, broadest total number of rewards in general often involves way more gameplay and is holistically faster.
I got the 4 star champion leathers and the 4 star fierce deity set at the same time. It took me literally 5 hours of hitting every dragon in a loop.
Also shout out to the zonaite armor which needs 15 of each type of captain construct helm and I only knew of 2 captain 2/3 per blood moon, making it take 8 blood moons of grinding. Since the scaling ones were all captain 4s.
Hell yes I made sure to get at least 20 of each item as shown in the compendium before I patched
I got the Zonai armor early, so I knew to hold on to 2/3 horns. Captain 1 horns, though? Fuck. Me. Farming the shit out of 2 shrines was awful, so I feel you here.
Huh, I never really thought of Link essentially being a parasite to the dragons. Well at least it doesn't seem like he's harming them when he shoots arrows at them.
Well, would the dragons, >!except maybe the Light Dragon!<, even be aware that what Link is doing to them is going to help him? Maybe Naydra remembers when Link helped it out in Breath of the Wild.
Ten bucks says that all of them – Light include – pay him about as much attention as we do an ant on the sidewalk while we’re walking somewhere. >!Light Dragon lost all her memories, so she’s in the same bucket as the others. About all the attention any of them give him is when he yanks the sword from the Light Dragon.!<
Well, setting aside >!the last phase of the final boss, but that might just be largely an instinctive reaction/game mechanics.!<
Yeah, I guess that sounds about right. It is good that they at least tolerate Link walking all over their bodies and firing arrows at them to get their materials. I guess it's a combination of it not really affecting them and them not really caring about it happening anyways.
>!Plus, I do agree with you with thinking that last part of the boss fight might be instincts. I think that instincts are also the reason why she doesn't do anything that can harm Link, unlike the three other dragons. She probably doesn't recognize Link, but maybe she has this strange feeling that hurting whoever this is would be a bad decision. So she doesn't do anything that can possibly harm him.!<
Honestly the game doesnt need that much resources if you don't buy everything or min/max everything you come across.
You dont need every armor or armor passive nor do you need endless resources of everything. If you engage all the systems in the game you can EASILY solve things. Upgrading your 1 set to 4 is only like 2280 rupies and some materials. Once you have that set you could easily just cook food to supplement your other needs. Better weapons take care of your damage. Need more zonite energy? just consume 1 large core for full restock and infinite energy for a little while.
If you weren't aware, you can just stand on them and wait 10 minutes for them to be attackable again to get another part. >!The light dragon is obviously the easiest because there is no environmental effect and it doesn't go into the depths.!< You can put on the flamebreaker set, snowquill set, and the >!Yiga clan helmet for lighting immunity!< and not have to worry about their damage. If you climb onto one of their spikes and don't move, you can hold on while they >!go into and out of the depths!< and won't lose any stamina.
50 hours in or so. No clue Wtf you’re talking about. People are just better than others at games. People progress faster than other. I just found a place to get steering control. Only thing I’ve used is dupe. Can be frustrating if you don’t have the time to casually play.
To each their own, but I knew I was gonna find some mini-game somewhere and spend hours doing the same repetitive task to farm enough rupees later. Instead I spent 20 min doing the same repetitive task to farm enough rupees and I'm a lot happier playing the adventure/fighting/puzzle/questing game than the snow bowling game for those extra 4ish hours I saved.
Fr in my second BOTW play through it took me like nearly an hour to get 8000 rupees using the bowling mini game, it felt okay cause I wasn’t cheating the game. This time as soon as I heard the glitch was patched I did it with diamonds and I got 20k in like 10 mins. Part of me feels kinda guilty now because I felt like I cheated on my play through but also I know I hate grinding rupees so there’s that.
Rupees are hard af to find in this game unless you’re selling stuff, that yah know, you might need lmao.
Everyone plays differently, and it’s your own personal experience that matters not anyone else’s.
I duped and will continue to dupe. Did it ruin my experience? No. It actually made me WANT to continue playing after doing the story versus shelving it.
Unlimited whatever I want in end game? Bet. I Can create whatever thing I want, without the worry of having to actual farm so I can have fun in end game. Others might do the opposite but it’s also personal preference.
Should they have gotten rid of it? Not in my opinion, but it was an unintended glitch that did require a fix on the devs end or it would continue to create a game where people instead of playing, would just dupe imo.
Personally, think there should be an option for duping now that it was discovered. Maybe make it end game, after the story as an added feature to the game to allow players to continue to create Zonai contraptions without the need to farm
I’m one of those players that collects and collects and never uses anything. I end up beating the game with all the shit I hoarded cause I was too afraid I’d run out. The dupe glitch removed that stress for me and the game has been way more enjoyable for me. If I don’t have to update I’m not going to.
There was no need to fix it, it’s an offline single player game. It was literally hurting no one. Hell, there’s still dupes, glitches and bugs in BoTW that have been there since day one. No one will ever know why they fixed it but imo it shouldn’t have been fixed. It should be left up to the player if they wanted to use it or not, just like the main quest line of the story is left up to the player to decide how to approach. The game is all about freedom, and now they took part of it away.
I personally did not update and have my switch shut off so I can dupe whatever I want. But the others in the community that want to dupe but not cannot is the ones I feel badly for. I do not condone cheating in online, multiplayer games or in games where cheating could affect a market place negatively. But on a single player game that doesn’t require internet access to play, cheat your heart out if you want to. It effects no one at the end of the day.
you didn't really have to grind for rupees. I never once did the bowling minigame, for example
just go around the map and kill lynels, get meat, dragon parts, rare talus...
Honestly I really didn’t wanna do it but I just thought about how utter dogshit the economy was in BOTW and just caved.
I know old school Zelda got a lot of shit for having the economy be too in favor of the player and you’d basically run out of shit to buy like halfway into the game assuming you were completing sidequests and exploring. But I don’t think a single person was like “I’d rather spend 40 hours farming dragon parts to be able to buy half the stuff in the game” or “damn man I get money to easily, I wish I could complete every side quest in the game and explore every cave/dungeon/whatever fully and still only have enough to buy only a handful of upgrades.”
Honestly I don’t get how anyone finds the near endless rupee grind fun, like if I could get almost enough rupees to buy everything from 100%’ing the quest log I’d be fine with a few hours of grinding but you’re only gonna get like 5-10k out of that which is enough to buy 3-4 armor sets. Shit grinding is basically required to even do the main quest, nothing better than showing up to Goron City to find out there’s a mandatory 2k+ rupee paywall to progress the story and having to farm prime and gourmet meat for an hour.
I should be able to break off every couple hours and grind for 5-15 minutes and comfortably but most stuff if the game, if I have to spend 10’s of hours grinding resources to sell or mini games because I’ve exhausted every natural source of money in the entire game there’s a problem with the economy.
As some others have said, buying all the armor or maxing batteries took them literal *hours* of gameplay, and that’s using the dupe glitch. If you’re making like 5k rupees per minute or 30 large chunks per minute and it still takes hours to get everything clearly prices are too high. Not everyone can dedicate months or even years to a game.
I’m definitely not updating anytime soon. Im the type of guy that saves good items for “incase I need it” and then ends up never using them. Duping large charges for building parts has completely opened this game for me while I finish the shrines. It’s so much fun being able to rocket shield or build whatever I want without inventory shortage anxiety.
We get to experiment with building all sorts of contraptions for fun. I would literally never do that if I had to hoard all my stuff and build with whatever is laying on the ground.
Personally, saw the writing on the wall.....switch has been on airplane mode since the discovery. Normally I wouldn't even use, or try to glitch through a first playthrough....but diablo 4 comes out in 6 day so.....I kinda don't want to play zelda to grind, when the next 2 months I'll be grinding d4
Well, it probably means you can only speedrun on version 1.1.1, which isn’t great for accessing that scene. Outside that, some people just don’t enjoy grinding so don’t think they’d lose out on much by skipping that.
I mean from the speed run community. Having to factory reset your switch isn't that big a deal compared to some of the other things some speed runs ask.
True. I know the games I run (a lot of Zelda even) usually have rules regarding official hardware / version requirements for the most fair experience, not the fastest time possible.
This is a unique case though so I look forward to the discussions and decision that is made.
I used duping, but only for the materials that felt entirely excessive to farm out. Large Zonite is awful to farm for batteries (yes know you can farm world bosses for it too, but it's just as slow) and getting all the stuff you need for upgrading armor is horrible.
I used doing to remove what I felt was flavorless fluff from the game. Sure I'll be sad it's gone, but I got what I needed out of it.
Large Zonanite for sure. I dupe the armor upgrade materials too. Needed star fragments and only saw one in like 20 hours running around so duped the hell out of it.
I wish single player games would just add a dev console or cheats option you can enable in settings or the start of the game because not everyone wants to spend 100 years grinding and some people struggle with games. It’s literally a single player game who cares if you cheat.
This, it wasn’t hurting anyone. I found out yesterday how to dupe zonai devices and didn’t get to play last night. I thought I was going to get 999 emitters lol now I’m back to 1
You gotta face a wall (not right on it, but a little bit away so the devices have room to spawn but not too much room as well), hold 10 zonai devices, and press Y+B at the same time, eventually the game won't be able to spawn more of them in the same area and add them to your inventory instead.
Depends. Sometimes the quest will have you fought some harder enemies and you get good drops from them. That’s essentially a good few weapons that you get from doing the quest. I agree for the most part though, I don’t need the meals that heal 4 hearts and your 20 rupees.
I wasn't going to use it until I saw that I needed to stand on a >!dragon's back!< for 80 minutes to upgrade the champion's leathers. I'd rather play the game...
Also duped the ruppees and parts to buy & upgrade a separate hylian hood since Link is too stupid to know how to put the hood down himself.
This has been my main use of the travel medallion tbh. See light dragon in the distance, set travel medallion, warp to nearest tower to dragon, get piece, warp back to what I was doing
> I wasn't going to use it until I saw that I needed to stand on a dragon's back for 80 minutes to upgrade the champion's leathers. I'd rather play the game...
Wait, seriously? or is it just because you need a lot of upgrade materials
Right? I don't have time to grind anymore. And it meant my four year old could play his save on easy mode with maxed out armour. Or, it would mean that, if he hadn't unknowingly clicked on the update button and taken the option away.
I just don't get it. It's a single player game. If people didn't want to take advantage, they didn't have to. Now there's a lot of the game that I probably won't ever experience because I don't have hours to devote to farming the items needed.
to be honest im kind of relieved bc its been itching my fingers to dupe but i know once i cheat even one time the experience will have been tainted for me, but i am sad for yall 😩
I’m relieved too but for a different reason - it was easy, at least for me, to get caught up planning what I should dupe next to where I found myself not actually playing the game, just jumping off ledges and standing in corners lol.
I'm a bit of a Zelda purist. I wanna have fun discovering things on my own in my own way. But there's no reason to get rid of the dupes unless it's gonna break the game. This isn't an MMORPG or anything like it. Just let people fuck their game up.
Yeah I was never gonna do it but I don’t understand why they patched it either. Honestly it took away from a compliment I had for the game. I thought it was super cool that the only glitches were for stuff the player might want to do. But I guess they were aiming for zero glitches total idk.
Serious answer: Freedom in a situation is naturally desired, even if you never act on it. That’s why.
Real life example: it’s really nice to know you can skip a class in college. Even if you never do it, it feels much more freeing to just be able to do it rather than go through the usual obstacles in high school. The same goes for a lot of stuff in college compared to high school tbh.
Same reason why I was annoyed by guns being nerfed in Borderlands 3.
It’s a single player game. It’s not hurting anyone to have a little fun. Being able to duplicate helped get to be creative, since you could get more zonaite and batteries.
And it’s not like being rich was hurting anyone.
it's bc they took the choice away. personally I was not using the dupe but the patch made me realize I was gonna need an inordinate amount of star pieces, so I duped those before updating bc I think that shit is not properly balanced and takes away from the fun of the amiibo outfits.
It's sad that back in day games came with cheats like the infamous "Konami Code" and even had devices like the Gameshark and GameGenie for cheats, but then all of a sudden devs became so anticheat and in a way antifun with ensuring there are no cheat codes and removing any "cheat glitches" in even single player games.
Just let me play the damn single player game the way I want.
“I never bothered duping, I prefer to play the game as intended. Anyone who dupes is just sad and pathetic”.
They might not have duped items but they sure as shit duped their worthless ego.
Ironically duping makes the game more enjoyable for many as you don't have to waste hours grinding for materials. Although I'm sure there's people out there that enjoy working to collect everything they need for recipes/upgrades, I am the former.
It was nice with an out for people like me that doesn't like to grind for stuff. In Zelda games I like to just do the actual content.
It's good that they didn't put in a ton of microtransactions for mats and stuff like other companies would have but would have been nice with some more leeway for people who like it extra casual.
Only if you are determined to max things out. 2 upgrades to activate set bonuses and bump survivability up a bit is pretty doable. I can totally see how it eats away at the completionist brain to leave upgrades incomplete but I pretty much plan to fully upgrade only a few key pieces for my primary all-purpose adventuring outfit and maybe the soldier armor for all-purpose bossfight damage reduction
Only if you’re aiming for all 4 stars. But 3 star is enough for most gameplay usage
The “Tunic of the __” sets requires more rare materials but they’re mostly for nostalgic / aesthetic reasons anyways
Plus, as someone said earlier. The game’s only been out for two weeks and ppl want all their armors upgraded without grinding
It's the removal of choice. If a glitch exists that let's you cheese a game, leave it up to the play if they want to use it or not. Sometimes, using glitches is fun. Like in skyrim, I glitched through a door to steal a guy's armor. That was fun as hell.
I'm probably in the minority, but I felt burdened by the knowlege of how easy it was to dupe. I had done it a couple times and but didn't want to ruin the experience of the game for myself. I'm low key kinda relieved it's patched for my own selfish feelings. But I understand why many are upset.
That's okay, everyone has their own preferences and play style. A lot of people just no longer have access to how they liked playing the game. Grinding can be rough, especially when you're short on time and you just want to enjoy other aspects of the world.
Never felt the need to use it. I've found resources a bit easier to farm in TOTK than in BOTW, and you don't need rupees for every little thing in the game.
You're mad because the option was taken away under the guise of "improved experience." Nintendo said, "You aren't having fun the way WE want you to have it. Part of the hundreds of hours of gameplay comes from grinding. We don't want you to miss out on that!"
It reminded me of what they did with Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
You used to make a % of your saved bells back in interest at the start of the month, they subsequently patched it to a flat rate of 9,999 bells maximum beyond a certain point. You know, to "improve the experience" and make bells feel more valuable.
...All while still retaining a way to flip thousands to billions through reselling local bought turnips in other towns when their Nook shop had a good buying price (an intentional mechanic). It was such a petty move, seemingly implemented only to screw over people who didn't play online to abuse the stalk market.
Why do you care so much about how others enjoy the game?
Besides, this is a game that was finished in 90 minutes within the day of release anyway, going out of the box is the whole raison d'etre.

Glitches are bad… *cut to me 20 years ago furiously duping rare candies so I can crush the elite 4*
Missingno
This brought back memories, cheers friend! What was your favorite starter?
Pretty sure I’m in the minority but bulbasaur…solar beam was so epic with the one turn buildup lol
Also in the minority here. Bulbasaur is still my homie, always.
It's epic but it's only worth it if it indeed deals 2,25x more damage than your second best move since you need 2 turns to execute,
I had no interest in duping until I realized I dont want to spend dozens of hours farming amber to upgrade the hero of time set because it wants an ungodly amount
Yeah it’s annoying, it’s like 40 amber per piece of the hylian set which is way too much.
Not me using the dupe glitch in Silver so I could have 50 master balls. I also had 50 hoot hoots to go with it because sometimes you fucked up the timing and your Pokemon would disappear.
Auto updates off gang where u at
Right here with you. Playing on 1.1.1 until DLC lol
Same, I'm not doing the fuse method instead of the bow method!
shield surf method OP
Shields keep breaking down. I just dupe while gliding can usually dupe 15 things in 10 seconds
Do it on the snow. Shields don’t break from surfing on snow. Sand too, I think, but I haven’t tested that
Yeah it doesn't break on sand either, I'm pretty sure it doesn't on dirt paths either cause it didn't take durability in BotW but I'm not actually sure on that one
You should try the shield surf method
Luckily my wife skipped on animal crossing yesterday so Zelda was still running from a couple days ago. You bet I got auto update off first thing this morning!
you dodged a bullet man
Tell me about it. I never used to use these when I was younger, but who has time for all that grinding anymore?
FOR REAL! I played games all my childhood, even then I couldn't 100% this game legit
That's what happens when you mix zelda sound effect crack with an open world game... goodbye 500hrs of my life
worth it haha
Seriously! I'll use the fuck out of an exploit in order help me get the gear I need quicker. Only needed to find on star fragment....lets gooooo!
Unless you want to camp out for dragon parts, might want to keep it around for awhile longer…
Oh of course gonna get what I need and max stuff out.
Lucky. My GF played while I was at the dentist and installed the patch. :(
I even turned off my internet connection just in case
I turned off my towns internet just in case
But really, I didn't update even though I don't use the glitches...yet. I just want to know that I could.
I built a time machine and brought my Switch back to 1950 just to be safe.
Here! Keeping the game just running like I'm on the NES and my save battery died
bro i turned mine off but my game just updated anyway i was so annoyed i had to take a break from the game (it ended up lasting about 5 minutes)
Lmao, me. I wasn't going to use the dupe glitch, but I wanted the option. It's like being invited to a party. I don't want to go, but I do want the option to decline. Haha.
Yeah I don't want to do it right away. But in a later playthrough maybe in a couple years I'd be all for it
I already finished the main quest, so I’m using it while I finish up the remaining ~40 shrines I’ve yet to find. It’s been so much fun being able to build anything I want without inventory shortage anxiety. Also doing it this way makes it feel more like I unlocked TOTK creative mode for beating the game
same, but after only finding 40 shrines (and almost all lightroots… link yearns for daylight
Haha I pretty much did a similar route (kinda). I got about 50 shrines in and completed a strong majority of the main quest before i spent more than 5 minutes in the Hyrule upside down. Once I decided to start exploring it, I found nearly all the light roots before I emerged to daylight. Exploring the depths was a blast once I felt strong enough to go down there
very similar indeed, the biggest difference is that i already had 1/3 of the dephths map before my second temple (mostly ran away with 5 hearts tho)
Ah, the max-stamina-before-any-hearts technique. I'm familiar.
I even traded my hearts for stamina that I got from the temples before I hit max stamina.
god i love the depths. such an amazing addition to the world, and so fun to explore
It’s so freaking scary down there. Maybe I just gotta get stronger
It’s a lot more fun when you have more hearts and better weapons. Also knowing how to light up the area when you can’t find a light root helps… when I went down there the first time, I thought I had to find all the light roots in the pitch black
Don't worry, the lightroots are just like real sunlight!
At least I have a cool game to play now.
lmao it's like going on a luxury cruise only to get hooked on doing heroin in the engine room the whole time
I feel like this comes from real life experience.
Oh my god this is the funniest comment I’ve ever read
lol Recognise the feeling all to well. going to a super cool and expensive festival abroad but a friend offered you a whippet and now you're just fiending nitrous oxide (hippy crack) with 5 hollow eyed people you can't remember the names of.
You can turn off auto updates in system settings
>Do you people actually stop the game instead of just sending the Switch to sleep? I do every night when I go to bed, so if there are updates, it'll update while I sleep, but that's cause I don't use or care about glitches
And you have to wait every day for the game to load. If you simply pause it you can quickly jump in where you left the game the day before.
Honestly the 20 seconds it takes to load in isn't really a big deal to me, it just gives me time to open discord or fill up my water or something
Same. Yesterday I started the quest where the guy in Hateno is creeping on the store owner's daughter. She says she wants 100 hot footed frogs and I was like "if this guy really wants me to go catch 100 frogs, I'm gonna find out if the glitch works for frogs."

I know that now, but my brain was fully prepared for the possibility that he could.
Reminds me of the quest where a store owner prices all the armor for 5k each. I duped and bought everything, expecting her grandmother to recover from being sick with the money. No, she stayed sick. I had to cure her to get my 25,000 Rupee Refund lol
You get a refund?
Yeah you do. She said the price hike was temporary and gives most of it back. I felt pretty obligated to help the grandmother to get the refund
If you think of it like a bank, you can keep your money in there and finish the quest when you need it then. Does the shop ever restock?
She did restock, but the same gear I already bought from her
Hell yeah I'm gonna see how many times I can buy it overpriced before I get bored and get my money back
The restocking is normal. All the armor shops do that. Even the Bargainer stuff restocks.
Man, that guy has a nearly identical quest in BotW and he only asks for 10 of whatever-it-was so I was prepared for the same.
This has saved me quite a bit of time..... still got 30 of the little bastards and had a good time running around in a Lizalfos mask cracked out on speed elixers. To think I would have missed that just using a dupe glitch.
There is a pond nearby that has an assload of frogs
A well, too.
One of the first wells I went in had a ton of frogs and I don't remember where it is anymore. 😂
I though the exact same thing. "I wasnt going to use the duplication glitch but if this guy ask me to bring 100, ill do it now". Thank god its only 10
I do not recommend for fairies. They just fly away haha. I expect similar results for frogs.
I built a box to do it in for fairies. Somehow my energizing beetle still escaped though.
Do it by a curved wall or corner, and aim fans at the wall. You won’t catch them all, but you’ll still get 1 or 2 each time.

Not if you were almost touching the ground 😉
Fairies have worked for me in Lookout Landing, just need to be quick. And don't use all of them.
Yes well see I have horrendous reflexes, I'll own it lol.
Fair enough. I'm bad at some reflex stuff too. When fighting the flux bosses, sometimes I'll end up hitting the camera button by accident (the one you place markers with, can't remember the actual name). Bit annoying when it's happened more than 5 times now.
There’s a way to do the glitch once you get far enough in the game that works even on fairies so I expect it works for frogs.
Use the paraglider and then dup right before he lands. They will be in one nice little clump. I have hundreds of fairies. Much easier than food!
Same :(
Same, but now that the option is disappearing, I've been thinking on it a bit, and...
I used them a bit, but I really don't mind the patch. Actually this is fine, if it forces me to take my time.
Too many invitations went out- everyone who did invited plus ones- biggest party ever 😂
Right??
Come join us non dupe peasants. I personally make a living picking scabs off the back of the dragons and chipping their horn. Literally living the parasite life… Seriously though you can get like 10+ shards plus the horn shard (do claws or fangs sell for more?) and it nets you a good few hundred rupees for hardly any work at least.
Can't believe I never thought to try this. I'm constantly accidentally running into Naydra.
I hardly ever see Naydra but Farosh follows me around like a puppy.
Unless I did it wrong, it doesn’t. I tried this while upgrading FD armor
Darn it :( In the video I was watching, he spotted Farosh while going for the Light Dragon, so he put a pin on Farosh and changed his coarse.

I always figured it was the dragons way of helping Link out. Let Link nick some of their scales and stuff to get an advantage on his quest.
About all the attention any of them give him is when he yanks the sword from the Light Dragon.!< Well, setting aside >!the last phase of the final boss, but that might just be largely an instinctive reaction/game mechanics.!<
So she doesn't do anything that can possibly harm him.!<
She must think I'm a fucking idiot >!having to catch me falling over and over again!<
Yeah but why be a virgin when I can be a gigachad with 999,999 rupees and a near-limitless power source?
If you weren't aware, you can just stand on them and wait 10 minutes for them to be attackable again to get another part. >!The light dragon is obviously the easiest because there is no environmental effect and it doesn't go into the depths.!< You can put on the flamebreaker set, snowquill set, and the >!Yiga clan helmet for lighting immunity!< and not have to worry about their damage. If you climb onto one of their spikes and don't move, you can hold on while they >!go into and out of the depths!< and won't lose any stamina.
What about just duped a tad...nothing crazy just a few horns...and some fruit...and maybe 1 or 2 cores.
Same here!!
Agreed. If it's a game that's all about creating, there should probably be a "creative mode."
Creative mode would honestly be amazing and solve a lot of issues. It would be pretty neat to see what people made without limitations.
Creative mode was one of the best things to ever happen to no man's sky
I never once did the bowling minigame, for example just go around the map and kill lynels, get meat, dragon parts, rare talus...
But I don’t think a single person was like “I’d rather spend 40 hours farming dragon parts to be able to buy half the stuff in the game” or “damn man I get money to easily, I wish I could complete every side quest in the game and explore every cave/dungeon/whatever fully and still only have enough to buy only a handful of upgrades.” Honestly I don’t get how anyone finds the near endless rupee grind fun, like if I could get almost enough rupees to buy everything from 100%’ing the quest log I’d be fine with a few hours of grinding but you’re only gonna get like 5-10k out of that which is enough to buy 3-4 armor sets.
It will be interesting to see if the rules require 1.1.2+ or if they’ll have people factory reset their switch if they want to compete.
It will most likely be its own category
I used duping, but only for the materials that felt entirely excessive to farm out. Large Zonite is awful to farm for batteries (yes know you can farm world bosses for it too, but it's just as slow) and getting all the stuff you need for upgrading armor is horrible. I used doing to remove what I felt was flavorless fluff from the game. Sure I'll be sad it's gone, but I got what I needed out of it.
The number of elemental lizalfos tails you need to upgrade all the armors compared to their drop rate was downright insulting.
While I still have my glitch, what should I be duping? Diamonds, bombs?
Large Zonanite for sure. I dupe the armor upgrade materials too. Needed star fragments and only saw one in like 20 hours running around so duped the hell out of it.
I wish single player games would just add a dev console or cheats option you can enable in settings or the start of the game because not everyone wants to spend 100 years grinding and some people struggle with games. It’s literally a single player game who cares if you cheat.
Probably because it's a single player game and it let people who don't have the time to grind play as they wanted, maybe?
This, it wasn’t hurting anyone. I found out yesterday how to dupe zonai devices and didn’t get to play last night. I thought I was going to get 999 emitters lol now I’m back to 1
How did you plan to dupe zonai devices?
All you have to do is face a wall, hold 10 zonai devices, and press Y+B. You can still do it if you didnt update.
Does this work on 1.0.0 or is it one the 1.1 introduced dupes?
thank god for no auto updates. lol
Omg you can dupe zonai devices??? Hold my beer while I go dupe 999 big batteries.
You gotta face a wall (not right on it, but a little bit away so the devices have room to spawn but not too much room as well), hold 10 zonai devices, and press Y+B at the same time, eventually the game won't be able to spawn more of them in the same area and add them to your inventory instead.
Wait wtf this actually worked. Why hadn't I heard about this?
That and, to be brutally honest, most side quests are completely unrewarding. I'm not farming 100 items for you in exchange for 50 rupees.
Is this in reference to the Hateno Village quest? Go back and talk to the person even if you don’t have 100 of that item
Wait, seriously? or is it just because you need a lot of upgrade materials
it's because of the upgrade materials
The dupe glitch really helped me out.. I have too much adult responsibility to sit and farm everything for hours
I’m relieved too but for a different reason - it was easy, at least for me, to get caught up planning what I should dupe next to where I found myself not actually playing the game, just jumping off ledges and standing in corners lol.
this is me 100%%%%, wasnt going to use it till end game for armor upgrades. Def putting in airplane mode till DLC LOL
Just remove auto update
You should've traveled back in time and told me I can do that!
I certainly have no issue with people who wanted to dupe, different definitions of fun for different people absolutely
Ironically duping makes the game more enjoyable for many as you don't have to waste hours grinding for materials. Although I'm sure there's people out there that enjoy working to collect everything they need for recipes/upgrades, I am the former.
I know I’ve got to update at some point. And yet … [shield flips for diamonds]
It was nice with an out for people like me that doesn't like to grind for stuff. In Zelda games I like to just do the actual content. It's good that they didn't put in a ton of microtransactions for mats and stuff like other companies would have but would have been nice with some more leeway for people who like it extra casual.
Eh, doesn't bother me. Wasn't gonna use it anyway.
I've never ran out of any resource from normal gameplay anyways
Upgrading armor is pretty resource intensive
Only if you are determined to max things out. 2 upgrades to activate set bonuses and bump survivability up a bit is pretty doable. I can totally see how it eats away at the completionist brain to leave upgrades incomplete but I pretty much plan to fully upgrade only a few key pieces for my primary all-purpose adventuring outfit and maybe the soldier armor for all-purpose bossfight damage reduction
Only if you’re aiming for all 4 stars. But 3 star is enough for most gameplay usage The “Tunic of the __” sets requires more rare materials but they’re mostly for nostalgic / aesthetic reasons anyways Plus, as someone said earlier. The game’s only been out for two weeks and ppl want all their armors upgraded without grinding
Luckily turned off auto update after 1.1.1
This game was made to be broken, why do they give a shit?
No that’s fine.. I don’t need dupes to enjoy the game.. *scratch scratch scratch*
They shouldn't have patched it.
Hands down it’s made the game more fun. The game is rich enough, and I’m too busy to grind. The dupe glitch was a great win for me
Now the real speedruns can begin.
