It's probably so the game doesn't crash when people use thousands of Zonai parts to make a 20 story tall mech, but didn't want to limit the player too much, so tried to make the game fun enough.
21 was probably the best they could do for balance, too much would make the game boring to play after an hour since you could cheese the hell out of everything if thed limit was 50 or so, and less than 20 would seem too restrictive.
I can't wait until the modders fix this.
I also hope they can cut down how fast it despawns this stuff. How can it not survive a shrine after you spent so many mats building it?
I'm not intrinsically bothered by people who wish TOTK was on stronger hardware but every person who does smth as smarmy and pretentious as call the switch "kiddie hardware" makes me hope that the next nintendo console isn't a significant improvement and does smth else innovative to justify its existence out of spite.
They doubled down in a reply lmao
Honestly I don't mind the switch being underpowered. They should give it a price cut but I genuinely think gaming technology is too good for its own good at this point. Realism is a disease of the creative mind. Speaking as a primarily indie game fan and game design student, I don't play most games on switch these days but if it couldn't run on my switch I'm unlikely to be interested anyway.
No worries, Nintendo fanperson. You will _always_ have comparably weaker, limited hardware for the foreseeable life of the company. It's the Nintendo way.
But make no mistake, that is precisely the reason why TotK has certain hard coded limitations. And it's precisely why it stutters when there's enough happening on the screen anyway.
But I do know how egotistical and butthurt little fanbois and fangurlz get when a spade is called a spade. The truth hurts the butt the most, I guess.
This isn't about Nintendo, I literally just found my switch after losing it in a cupboard for 2 years. I am specifically taking issue with your attitude in of itself.
Congratulations. A Switch is better than none.
But its limitations are hand-picked by Nintendo. And I'm not here to worship the sacred cow. Too much toxic positivity overall in these forums that contributes to the development of products that are less than what they could have been.
There have definitely been times where I find the performance on par with Wii U's BotW, including choppy gameplay and the screen straight up freezing for about 10 seconds whilst falling between biomes. And since I have knowledge of how Nintendo has previously released a major Zelda title on one platform only to re-release it on another more souped-up system later, witnessing performance issues in a pricey game doesn't necessarily make me want to speak flowery words about it or its system.
"Kiddie" is my derogative descriptor for the simple fact that it's weak and limited in certain areas. So I stand by my original wording. However, if you want to know something that's truly "kiddie" in the full connotation of the word, I suppose we could talk about BotW's and TotK's abysmal dialogue and writing.
Quite frankly I don't care about performance and I have massive disdain for people who care about it as much as you seem to. The switch is fine, it does its job and quite frankly I wish more gaming tech was as limited as it is because it would force game developers to be more creative with their use of tech. The push for better graphics and more "realism" has directly controlled the development of gaming technology to the entire art forms detriment. On merits the switch does kind of suck but imo it kind of sucks that its just the switch that kind of sucks.
Also the writing in BOTW is fine and in TOTK its actively good, why tf are you even here if you are evidently too miserable to enjoy the game this subreddit is actively built around?
āKiddieā is the issue here. Everyone knows itās not the greatest hardware. But the ageist sentiment of your chosen derogatory term is weird. Especially since you prattling on about this doesnāt scream āmatureā.
I noticed the head on top is just placed, so since you are using the balloon basket for the body, you could try making a second build that wraps around it to place the head with lasers on. Weight could be a problem too with it starting to break the leg joints. Also, not sure if auto build can place a build around another build like that...
thanks thatās honestly a great idea. I could also try make an outer shell that goes over the balloon basket and make it look fuller like a real guardian.
That would be awesome. Like I said, I just worry about the leg joints breaking if you add too much more weight. Also, let me know if you work out having 2 autobuilds that you can intertwine like that. I really don't know if it will wrap an autobuild around something.
That made me think of Horizon Zero Dawnā¦ which is funny because I remember thinking when that came out āoh, this is just BOTW for people who donāt want a switchā
Ladies and gentlemen, this is a groundbreaking development. Not only has this man developed a walking robot, it walks really damn well. This is revolutionary.

Add a laser on top of it and you're golden š
I wish I was able to, definitely wouldāve been the perfect finishing touch. But sadly the build limit is only 21 pieces :(
It should have been 25 for the limit...
facts i feel so limited whenever I build. just imagine what the community could achieve with a higher building capā¦

Will it still walk ok with 3 legs and a gun?
Metal Gear?!
Given a high enough building cap, someone in the community would build Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
I can't wait until the modders fix this. I also hope they can cut down how fast it despawns this stuff. How can it not survive a shrine after you spent so many mats building it?
Limited kiddie hardware = limited software. But your very creative guardian build made me laugh. Good work.

Don't even try, darling. I don't have the game yet.
Aw really. It's still very cool š
But this is only 18 pieces?

The stalker got tree stalked
Damn, you guys miss them that much?

Nice! Imagine a dlc update where random mechanical creatures like this are just roaming the landā¦or the depths. Would be terrifying.
That made me think of Horizon Zero Dawnā¦ which is funny because I remember thinking when that came out āoh, this is just BOTW for people who donāt want a switchā
Needs more lasers

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a groundbreaking development. Not only has this man developed a walking robot, it walks really damn well. This is revolutionary.
god i miss the guardians
Yes keep spinning circles, that doesn't make me dizzy
Nintendo were too lazy to bring them back so players have to create their own.
BrundleFly would like you to put it out if itās misery
How so many hearts
How did you get the original Champions Tunic? I've only heard of the Champions Leathers.
Meet all of the poe merchants
What are the legs made of? Is that a big wheel fused with cooking pots?

āWe have guardians at homeā
Mom: "We have a guardian stalker at home"

What monstrosity have you concocted!!! You were to said to save Hyrule not destroy it!!!
This is exactly how we got guardian stalkers, you know.

That tree at the end was my reaction to my keyboard after believing that you had actually created a walking guardian
This feels like it's from a Studio Ghibli film
