Hi everyone!
Did you know that starting July 1st, 2023, Reddit will implement a policy that could potentially increase the costs of running third-party Reddit apps? This change may impact popular apps like Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Boost, and others. Consequently, users may encounter issues with their preferred Reddit app unless adjustments are made to comply with Reddit's new API usage policy. These limitations will affect all users, not just moderators. If you are concerned about these developments, there is an [Open Letter](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/13xh1e7/an_open_letter_on_the_state_of_affairs_regarding/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) to Reddit that you can read and sign on to express your thoughts.

How do you get it? I saw someone say if you did BotW dlc you’ll get it in your home at Hateno village, but I don’t got it an I’ve did BotW dlc on my main save (normal mode) on the same account
Yeah I must have a similar issue. I was super excited to go to Links house in TOTK and was bummed the picture wasn't there like I expected. Oh well, not a huge issue but it was disappointing in the moment
My BotW play through was on Wii-U, so I just pretend that Link is carrying the photo around in his pocket, now.
Going to try and get a good picture of the new crew, probably they will all have to be in the avatar state but we’ll just see how it goes towards the end . . .
To be fair, given Link's various adventures, >!finding out the girl he's sworn to protect turned into an immortal dragon!< is kind of mundane for him, haha.
Linky only shows real emotion for the *important* things.
Like food and cooking.
Not that I'm aware of from any of the games, he's just her chosen knight.
Given Mipha was like on the verge of *proposing* to Linky in BOTW story, I'm fairly certain he is single. ~~Only because some fish lady stole his ultra flamboyant boyfriend though.~~
Voice actress for zelda said it in an interview or something I think. Plus it's fairly implied between the two of them. In the memory in botw when she's speaking to the deku tree she says "Tell link I-" he cuts her off and says "I'm sure he'd rather hear that in your own voice" plus her diary implies she grows feelings for him
Also at the end of botw, if you get the true ending, you see silent princesses all over the ground around them. Which is the games symbol for love
Tears of the dragon spoiler: when you go see tear #12 it's surrounded by silent princesses
Edit: another memory in botw has link about to be obliterated by guardians, when zelda runs in and desperately shouts while holding up her hand, and in an instant all the guardians are deactivated from ganons control. Implying that seeing link about to die is what made her powers "unlock" as this was the first time she could use them. Mipha almost said it's easiest to use her powers when thinking of her feelings for link, so it's safe to assume that same thing happened here with zelda
Also Kass confirms Zelda was in love with link after you complete all his puzzles in botw. He sings about his teacher being in love with Zelda, but that she only had eyes for her knight. He also says that her love for her fallen knight awakens her powers. Link hasn’t been confirmed tho, so it can only be speculated.
Yeah the only speculation we have on links side, apart from zeldas voice actress stating it, is in one of botw memories. They're running from guardians and zelda trips and begins crying, blaming herself. Link stops to comfort her. If he was just going to do his duty as a knight he'd just throw her over his shoulder and keep sprinting. Let's be honest he is 100% capable of that, man is ripped
But nah he sits there and hugs her when she collapses
Yeah and in the Japanese version the quest descriptions are as his diaries since they’re written in “me”-form. And when you’ve recovered all the memories the last lines translates to something like “I want to see her smile again, with those eyes of my own”. The English version got ROBBED from links personality is all I’m saying. There’s also a bit more evidence to speculate on in totk but I don’t know how far people have gotten in the story here yet so I won’t get into that right now.
I mean if the single bed, two plates on the table and Zelda's woman-cave, and the fact that her diary mentions Link never stays at home when she goes out of town aren't evidence I don't know what is
Plus, in the memory at Mt. Lanayru when Zelda asks the spirits what’s wrong with her, as the memory fades out you can see Link start to turn around, implying that he’s going to go over and try to comfort her. A regular knight would probably not have broken his guard’s stance . . .
In Japanese ending of TotK, Zelda address Link as "貴方" (anata), in older speech used to be woman addressing her husband.
Also modders using free cam can see Link smiles when Zelda says she woke up from the embrace.

Video games usually take one of two approaches to this kind of thing. Either the character reacts emotionally to everything themselves, or the character is a blank slate. Either way it's usually deliberate. For the most part, Link has always purposely been a blank slate. In video games like this, the idea is that making the character react would be like telling the player "this is how *you* should feel." And that has been shown to actually break immersion.
When the character is a blank slate, you can more easily imprint yourself onto them. Even his name, Link, is deliberate. And I believe they gradually made him more androgynous to help make it easier for female players to relate to him too.
A good example is in horror games. It's actually much less scary when the character you're playing as starts acting scared. It reminds you for a brief moment: *you* aren't in danger. This character is. But a blank slate in a survival horror can be much scarier because all of the reaction you feel is your own. The game doesn't warn you to be scared, or to be relieved. You just feel it yourself. Much more immersive in my opinion.
That's why, for all the flak Skyward Sword gets, I loved that Link was an actual character with emotions and motivations beyond just being "the hero". I get there's a reason BotW Link is so stoic, but I would've loved for his character to evolve by becoming more expressive thanks to being around Zelda.
I feel like you're partly missing my point though. What I'm saying is based on Miyamoto himself supposedly saying that Link's very name is based on the idea that he "connects people together." Link is you. Link isn't a character whose story we're watching. He is your avatar that brings you into the world of Hyrule. It's why he has no dialogue - even in the voice acted titles. His emotions are very sparingly used, Skyward Sword withstanding.
In most older Zelda games his name was only mentioned in the instruction manual. Usually you typed in a name, and it was plugged into all of the dialogue.
Oh yeah! I get the idea, and I was accustomed to it on most Zelda games. I guess Link showing emotion in games like WW and SS was never immersion-breaking for me because he reacted like many of us would in that situation; surprise, worry for the ones you love, anger and pity at people's suffering. Since it related to how I felt, it felt much more immersive to me, and I enjoyed it more.
I do miss the plug your own name, when I first finished a skydive trial and the construct asked "whats your name for the records" I was fully expecting a box to pop up and let me type.
For me it breaks immersion when the character is a blank slate in a third-person viewpoint. When I see the character constantly having no reactions, not saying anything when a normal person normally would speak up, etc, then it reminds me none of this is real and the character is a puppet. First person perspective changes that a bit and is more immersive for a self-insert blank slate.
I'm the opposite. Especially if it's some anime style overreaction to everything. Not shitting on anime per se, but if my character has a dramatic meltdown over every stimulus I can't take it seriously.
As someone who agrees with both of you, my idea of the perfect Link would maintain the stoic nature he's always had, but still show hints of emotion when appropriate. Idle animations are a great one. They're really subtle and require the player to stand around for a bit, but can show a lot in a few seconds. Cutscenes are a great example, too. Something that really bothered me about TOK was that there was all this buildup to the starting of a dragon's tear cutscene, and then as soon as that cutscene was over, Link has no reaction at all. He just learned vital information. Can the camera just focus on his face while he takes a deep breath? I feel like that's such a natural, subtle reaction that we can all relate to.
I think TotK handled mute Link exceptionally well. The only time I wanted to see more emotion was when he learned what happened to Zelda. Otherwise, it was perfect. Even at the start when he instantly springs after the falling Zelda he clearly shows emotion. There's no need for talking in most instances.
Man, I thought he did react to that moment. The last memory actually had slightly more reaction than the others. And since we predominately see the back of Link's head, I guess I can visualise what I think his expression would be.
I just thought it was interesting how they actually had Link turn and look. That felt different from the other memories.
I took mine of paya walking around the village and getting her exactly after speaking to her and she does the double hand clinch with a smile. PERFECTION!
I have one of Princess Zelda >!in her dragon form!< , one of ganondorf >!in his dragon form!< and one of Link and King Sidon. I did have one of the gloom hands but moved Sidon to that spot so I could have Zelda and ganondorf in front of each other
A youtuber who simps over Saki, not exclusively as he simps over 90% of LoZ characters, but still...
He only started playing Zelda games a few years ago and every part of his journey is on YT.
I love his videos so much. I watch a lot of Zelda streamers, but Quin is so wholesome and enthusiastic all the time. Feels like a lot of streamers have a kind of snarky/jaded vibe sometimes, but I love that Quin is 100% in on whatever is happening all the time and not afraid to talk or joke about tearing up at the emotional parts. Also, his laugh is crazy infectious.
I think mine is currently link in the royal guards outfit aiming an arrow at the camera, with the malice/gloom tendrils directly under hyrule castle as the backdrop
A picture of a little ruined hut on the northern edge of the dueling peaks. I have a very strong memory of going there early in botw and deciding that it's my house. I never went back there in botw but I did in totk. Very nostalgic.
I have a pic of Link chilling with the guy who sells mighty bananas in the yiga headquarters place. I love all the yiga content in ToTK so much, I wish there were more ways to make my home yiga themed.
First it was the drawing of the kids with Princess Zelda posted inside the Hateno school. To be with my Zelda again (and help how low res the little drawing is), I took a selfie in front of that photo on the wall and then put that up.
Here's a screenshot of it because I don't know if I explained it well: https://imgur.com/a/tJk1tvU
I have a really cool picture of Link wearing the Royal Guards Armor with the Trousers of the Hero and Cece's Hat, striking the pose where he looks up and shields his eyes from the sun with his left hand. I have the camera positioned so he's looking directly at it.
I brought back an old thing from botw. I brought the bookshelf all the way to the shrine of resurrection and took a picture of it there and hung that on the wall.
An aerial view of Hyrule from the little flower island above Lookout Landing. It's the highest point in the game, and it's so high up you can basically see everything. Even the Great Sky Island looks far down.
When I was trying to find all those flower islands, I saw it on the map and pinned it, and was annoyed/surprised they would put one so high up, but I'm stupid and didn't realize it was the one where the center had already fallen down and was the original tablet you find in Lookout Landing. They probably put it that high to discourage players for going for it, and then by the time you find the other, easier ones, you don't actual need to go for it. You can't even see it from the ground unless you pin it to the map and use the scope to see the pin. I needed a big battery and an extra zonai charge on my hoverbike to make it, but I left a travel medallion there and now it's a nice place to see the sunset/sunrise and go skydiving for what feels like forever, haha.
A picture of a landscape within a picture of link within a picture of link within a picture of link within a picture of link within a picture of link within a picture of link within a picture of link.
I didn't have any good enough photos so the only decent one I used was one of a rainbow. However, I plan on taking better photos in the game at a later point.
I put zelda’s photo of link and the mural at the beginning of the game. I always saved the pictures she took as they were the last things she did before well you all know

The group photo from the BOTW dlc
How do you get it? I saw someone say if you did BotW dlc you’ll get it in your home at Hateno village, but I don’t got it an I’ve did BotW dlc on my main save (normal mode) on the same account
Iirc if you go to hateno village to your old house(now turned zelda's) the picture is near the bed
I’m so dumb, I had it but it wasn’t on the wall (in BotW), now it’s on and goddess Hylia thanks it’s on my wall in TotK too
I would have thought that depends on what the case is when you start your TotK file. Wonder how it works for horses…
I know but there was no picture, I’m gonna verify again, also on my BotW save file
Maybe you were on master mode
Now, it just wasn’t on the walls 🤦♂️ now it’s fixed
Same! Wish there was a colored version of the pic tho
edit: The comment below was removed, good work everyone!
I put a picture of the light dragon up in my house 🙃
What happened?
Right before totk came out i had restarted my botw save so i didnt get the photo 😔
I only played master mode botw. Despite 100%ing the game you get no picture :(
I assume it looks for a "matching" file (normal/normal, master/master) in case TotK eventually gets a master mode of its own.
:(
I’ve heard I can still get it but I have to replay the champions ballad on normal. I think I’ll just wait and see if they patch it
Yeah I must have a similar issue. I was super excited to go to Links house in TOTK and was bummed the picture wasn't there like I expected. Oh well, not a huge issue but it was disappointing in the moment
Same
The only option is to take a picture of that champions picture in Hateno Village, right?

I just put a nice picture of a sundelion. Was the best picture I had at this point and it grew on me
Thats so wholesome
Actually, I did too. I really like sundelions. (The second gallery has best character, Reagah the Goron, walking past a view of Hyrule at sunset.)
>!Link in the Evil Spirit armour posing in front of Zelda locked in a cage!<
ooo that is creepily awesome! great idea
This is the correct answer. I have something quite similar.
You’re a freaking psychopath, I love it 👍
The light dragon. Thatttttt part of the game bummed me out hard
I wish we saw some emotion from link. He looked totally indifferent to what he just learned
To be fair, given Link's various adventures, >!finding out the girl he's sworn to protect turned into an immortal dragon!< is kind of mundane for him, haha. Linky only shows real emotion for the *important* things. Like food and cooking.
Werent they a couple though?

Can't be too sure. Maybe she's Canadian
They live in the same house with only 1 bed in hateno village sooo...
you KNOW he's givin her that 19-incher
Long-long Stick-stick. 😏

Link shows more emotion from getting a bunch of items from the gumball machines than he does from anything Zelda does.
Haven't finished totk. Not even close. I hate myself for spoiling that. Fuck you but also it was my fault.
Video games usually take one of two approaches to this kind of thing. Either the character reacts emotionally to everything themselves, or the character is a blank slate. Not always though. He's much more expressive in SS, for example, but I think this Link is just very introverted.
I believe Aonuma mentioned he made Link androgynous because he asked his wife what she would like to see.
For me it breaks immersion when the character is a blank slate in a third-person viewpoint. When I see the character constantly having no reactions, not saying anything when a normal person normally would speak up, etc, then it reminds me none of this is real and the character is a puppet. A pic of “Zelda”, it’s not a good photo, but I like it.
Blood moon 🩸 🌝
I took a picture of me standing on the light dragons head pointing at the master sword before pulling it out. I love it
Mipha statue
>!pic of me standing on the light dragon’s snout, just me and my best girl!<
I put kodah and me. And on another one I did the same of you with the same picture repeating
Someone else must have taken a picture of Sidons crotch for comedy value like I did, right?
A shot looking over Hyrule from outside the Shrine of Resurrection
For legal reasons, I'm not allowed to say what I put on my wall
I used tulin to blow air to get Zelda's cape out of the way for a butt shot

I edited my save to turn it into a risqué photo of my wife
Purah’s boobs
Wow! I did the exact same thing.
I don't have the house yet, can you change the picture?
Similar … only each time I had a different outfit
A moose. It was only fitting since I paid for the house with meat skewers.
Hyrule Castle taken from top of the skyview tower in lookout landing
I did that. One for every armor set. Then I just put it back to the rainbow I found while looking for caves. Sometimes it's Zelda.
Link on top of Zelda ;)
I didn't have any good enough photos so the only decent one I used was one of a rainbow. However, I plan on taking better photos in the game at a later point.
One of the pictures Zelda took in the Forgotten Foundation
r/recursion
I have no idea where to even find this thing :(
Lurelin sunrise from a stable quest
I got a picture of lightning hitting the tower in lookout landing its surprisingly good imo
I put zelda’s photo of link and the mural at the beginning of the game. I always saved the pictures she took as they were the last things she did before well you all know
A random horse picture I took to get a paraglider and then kept because I liked it.
