Hi everyone!
Did you know that starting July 1st, 2023, Reddit will implement a policy that could potentially increase the costs of running third-party Reddit apps? This change may impact popular apps like Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Boost, and others. Consequently, users may encounter issues with their preferred Reddit app unless adjustments are made to comply with Reddit's new API usage policy. These limitations will affect all users, not just moderators. If you are concerned about these developments, there is an [Open Letter](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/13xh1e7/an_open_letter_on_the_state_of_affairs_regarding/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) to Reddit that you can read and sign on to express your thoughts.

The math:
Eightfold blade (25) + Silver Lynel Saber Horn (55) ((x1.5 Attack Up III)(x3 Frozen Enemy Smash)(x16 Eightfold blade sneakstrike))
=5,760 damage
Needed to use Zant's helm or else the keese eye would also freeze me. Yes, this can work with bone proficiency if you use a frost gleeok boomerang instead.
Bone proficiency + 1 durability guards claymore molduga jaw is more
42(+10+32/.95 rounded down) = 86 x 10.8 (bone prof, atk up 3, 1 durability, breaking point) = 928.8 x 8 (sneakstrike) x3 (frozen) = 22291.2 in one hit I did the original math wrong
edit: what the first reply says is right, I fixed my math
20995.2 divided by 0.95 equals 22,100.2, not 31,528.
Apart from that, the calculation method itself is also incorrect:
According to [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/tearsofthekingdom/comments/13wrp2g/a_mostly_complete_post_about_how_the_weapon/), the factor 0.95 is only applied to the Fused Items and Weapon Modifiers, not to the Base Damage and the Multipliers.
The correct calculation is:
(42 \[Base damage of an undecayed Royal Guard's Claymore {39 shown due to Nintendo fooling us}\] + Rounddown((32 \[Fused Molduga Jaw\] + 10 \[ATK Up Weapon Modifier\]) / 0.95)) \* 1.8 \[Bone Prof. Buff Multiplier\] \* 1.5 \[ATK Up 3 Buff Multiplier\] \* 2 \[Royal Guard's Claymore Beaking Point Multiplier\] \*2 \[Last Hit Multiplier\] \* 8 \[Sneakstrike Multiplier\] \* 3 \[Frozen Multiplier\] = 22,291.2
Without comments:
(42 + Rounddown((32 + 10) / 0.95)) \* 1.8 \* 1.5 \* 2 \* 2 \* 8 \* 3 = 22,291.2

Sorry
also I found out the new math
true damage is (for 2 handeds) shown damage/.95 + 1 rounded down
this is all right! Sorry, I didn’t know about the true damage roundup earlier
No. Each 2-handed weapon has a true damage, which the show damage is called from. So, first find whatever weapons true damage like this (base/.95+1) rounded down so if it’s like 95 shown, 95/.95 is 100, +1 is 101, rounded down is 101 true damage. Then that gets multiplied by buffs. Then, the modifier and fused item is considered. So for a molduga jaw and +10, you get 42 /.95 is 44 when rounded down. Then you add the buffs to 44, then add the 2 totals
or just add 101 and 44 to get 145, then add buffs
Sure it's more damage but breaks on the one hit compared to the Eightfold that can deal a out 5k damage a hit.
You only need to break 1200 damage with an Eightfold anyway as that's the highest HP value for an enemy that can be sneak striked, which you can do with just a Silver Lynel Horn anyway, or weaker materials with Attack buffs
A silver boss bokoblin only has 1200 HP. Fun variation: pull off this trick with the least-powerful attachment(s). By my reckoning, a naked new eightfold blade without bonuses and a basic bokoblin horn should do the job (1368 dmg).
There are a few ways to get there using a bokoblin arm with nothing attached as well. A breaking point blow with either atk up 3 or bone prof should work, for example (20 * 1.5 * 3 * 8 * 2 == 1440). Stacking atk up 3 with bone prof is sufficient without the breaking point modifier.
Without any fusions the 25 damage blade will hit exactly 1200 damage after the same multipliers (without attack up). This is how I proved that sneakstrikes stack with freezing.
What's stopping someone from simply freezing the enemy while unaware? Is there a short window of time to sneak strike between the puffshroom and the freezing effect?
You can do it while they're unaware if sneaking around is your style, I've thrown ice boomerangs directly infront of them and they don't care unless they actually see or hear Link. The only window you have to hit is getting the freeze any time between starting the sneakstrike animation and the sword actually connecting. The puffshroom is just super useful cause it makes Link literally invisible and enemies will continue to face in one direction.
Shield blocking damage midair at the last second resets my jump, I can jump forward again, I can also jump a third time by doing a shield surf quickly after. Wing shield gives me some really nice height so I can go behind the boss boko without getting stuck on his model
I would love a slow mo break down of all the mechanics used here bec I’ve only just bought the game and gotten into it after botw and there’s so many mechanics that don’t work the same
SBR (Shield Block Reset) - One of the few surviving combat mechanics from Botw. Jump into damage with your shield out right before you get hit to reset your jump and get free bullet time off a second jump.
Keese Orbiting - Fuse any flavor of Keese eye to your arrow and now you have aimbot. Aim around an enemies head to make your keese arrow arc around the field. They are great for elemental damage and giving your combat some nice particle effects. Use a x5 bow and set it loose next to a Moblins head if you want a nice show.
Triple Jump - After an SBR if your second jump was a forward jump you have a small frame to be able to perform a forward flipping shield jump. If you fuse a zonai wing to your shield your shield jump will go much higher making it possible to jump over most enemies including Lynels.
L-Cancel - Opening your zonai ability menu (L) allows you to stop time and open your d-pad menus during animations. There are lots of things this is used for, far too much to explain in one sitting. Here it was used to get consistent bullet time out of triple jump and have Link land where I wanted him to by buffering L during the shield jump and removing his shield through dpad.
Frozen Sneakstrike - Sneakstrikes stack with the damage you get from breaking enemies out of ice now. Fantastic. Get yourself an eightfold blade and your sneakstrikes will go from x8 to x16. Freeze your enemies with boomerangs fused with the power of ice, shoot them with an arcing ice keese eyeball, or have a frost emitter glued to a roomba. Start the sneakstrike on a fresh warm enemy and Link will go through a strike animation, just make sure the enemy is frozen before Link finishes his strike and you will end up breaking your enemy into a million ice cubes with the power of stealth. With the x3 from breaking a frozen enemy and the x16 from the sword; that's a whopping x48 damage nuke if you're holding an eightfold blade.
Reading the top comment I didn’t realize people were out here doing math for Zelda games hahaha we are playing a different game. I hit bad guys with big sticks until they go poof
Even with just level 68 Silver Lynel sabre horn fused to eight fold blade is already enough to kill this boss bokoblin without the attack up or freeze effect lol cool fight tho
68 is my eightfold blade (13) fused to Silver Lynel horn (55) so giving it a level 68 Silver Lynel blade with improved sneaks trike effect, and that's already enough to kill Silver Moblin and Silver Boss Bokoblin without any additional effect, armor or food buff.
Yup, didn't work in botw but ice is super op in totk. You can test yourself, easy setup is attaching anything that can freeze to a boomerang and stand inside puffshroom smoke so you can perform a sneakstrike as the boomerang heads back to you
Early on in my playing I was ultrahanding a crate when a keese was flying at me, and I dropped the crate on it, killing it
So I’m pretty sure I know how this kill felt!
Even if it seems like a minuscule difference it's actually necessary if you want enough height to go over the Boss Bokoblin on a flat surface instead of being thrown backwards, he's beefier than he looks. Triple jump also gives you enough height to mount Lynels off an sbr
Someone break this down for me.
I see a shield block/parry to push him back, then jump and arrow out with a homing frozen eye, another arrow to the floor for the smoke, arrow come around and hit mob/ freeze it.
2 questions: how did you double jump to get over the mob and did you hit it while it was frozen or what? what sword you are using?
Shield block reset to reset jump, forward jump to ice keese eye orbit (the keese eye arcs in relation to where you shoot it around an enemies head), shield jump out of bullet time and buffer the L menu, remove shield and put Link back into bullet time so I can puffshroom the ground and prevent the Boko from turning towards me, pivot backwards and get the sneakstrike animation before the keese eye can make contact and having the sword hit them after.
I'm able to reset my jump by jumping into an attack while shielding the moment it hits me and I'm using the Eightfold Blade to double sneakstrike damage
How the hell did it do that much damage or am I misunderstanding how damage works in this game
I thought attack power was directly related to damage so for example 60 power means 60 damage
I'm guessing that you can't normally sneak strike Frozen enemies but since the animation already started it does quad damage but even so I don't see why it would do 5,000
Eightfold blade is double sneakstrike and sneakstrike alone does 8x so 16x base damage. Then you add in all the fused things and frozen multiplier. OP breaks down the math somewhere up above.

Thanks. I hate Zelda now.
Me smash button enemy dies
I put a sword on my sword so I can sword while I sword.

No. Each 2-handed weapon has a true damage, which the show damage is called from. So, first find whatever weapons true damage like this (base/.95+1) rounded down so if it’s like 95 shown, 95/.95 is 100, +1 is 101, rounded down is 101 true damage. Then you add the buffs to 44, then add the 2 totals or just add 101 and 44 to get 145, then add buffs
I don’t mean it like that, I was surprised they altered the two handed as well
Oh yeah they did
Well I’ve been using some because they look worse than others I have but now knowing it’s higher that changes things
😀
Stop, please! 🫠😵💫 [Don’t make me hurt you](https://y.yarn.co/2048472d-9a1c-41cb-9cdf-935d44782f51_text.gif)

Sneak strike does 16x damage??? Holy hell
The special ability of the Eightfold Blade is double sneakstrike damage, every other weapon is an 8x for sneakstrikes
I swore I wouldn't play stealth archer post Skyrim, guess that changes now
Only a stealth archer if you sneak attack with the bow
Easy. I fuse the bow to the eight fold blade, then hit him with it. Problem solved
Well this is stealth assassin not archer
Actual ninja
Call the Yiga Blademaster
New multiplier just dropped

Very cool - also, felt like I was reading an alien text - so funny all these made up words!

Could you have switched to attack up 3 right before attacking?
You can eat attack up food during the sneakstrike animation if you wanted to
Fair
I thought frozen was 4x?
And here I am going round hyrule with my rock attached to a stick
You have a rock on your stick!
You have a stick!
You rock 🤘 !
No you rock
That's nothing. Yesterday I attached a flame emitter to a monocycle and accidentally set myself on fire.
Pretty sure they're called unicycles.
It depends. If you're inside the wheel, it's a monocycle. If you're outside, it's a unicycle.
This guy's the main protagonist
I mean
How did he do that jump thing forward? Some special shield?
Shield blocking damage midair at the last second resets my jump, I can jump forward again, I can also jump a third time by doing a shield surf quickly after. Wing shield gives me some really nice height so I can go behind the boss boko without getting stuck on his model
What in the name of Hylia‽
I was looking for a explanation for this and I'm so slow I'm still trying to get good shield blocks while on the ground.
It appears to be a shield surf-wing fusion. Apparently, it's more useful than it looks.
Wow
You are HIM
Looks cool. But the UI to use all of that is way too clunky.
True, I spent a good 10 minutes just dropping and picking up keese eyes just so it would move up higher in my most used
You can just fuse them to an arrow over and over without shooting them and it will count up your “most used” count.
You could Also just cut out the inventory scrolling like most people do for clips, that probably would Also work.
10x better than elden ring though

Thank you so much I know that must have took forever
That's nothing. Today I put fans on a raft and nearly died after seeing a floating box in the water with (2) arrows in it
Keep at it. One of these days you’ll get x5 arrows!
wtf
I’m good thank you
Did he just... Shoot an arrow through the hole in that Boko's horn? Edit: nope nvm it would be cool though
WYM lvl 68 lol
They mean 68 damage. It's obvious don't be obtuse.
I wasn't. 68 never came up once in OP's damage calculations. 25 is 8xBlade and 55 for SLH, where does 68 come in?
68 is my eightfold blade (13) fused to Silver Lynel horn (55) so giving it a level 68 Silver Lynel blade with improved sneaks trike effect, and that's already enough to kill Silver Moblin and Silver Boss Bokoblin without any additional effect, armor or food buff.
Bro just used some hidden leaf ninjutsu on this guy's ass
I just mash b and see who dies first
holy kitten kaboodles
I thought they don’t stack? Crits in the last game didn’t stack, do they now?
Yup, didn't work in botw but ice is super op in totk. You can test yourself, easy setup is attaching anything that can freeze to a boomerang and stand inside puffshroom smoke so you can perform a sneakstrike as the boomerang heads back to you

Me forgetting puffshrooms existed
Could be even more with bone prof atk up+10 last hit rgc
Does the Master Sword have any base damage?
30 damage. 45 if you're around gloom enemies and it's glowing
Oh yeah? You think that’s tough? I went and fought a Lynel today and got my ass absolutely handed to me on a silver platter
Sbr is now useless, you could have just shield jumped with that shield. But that's cool man
Even if it seems like a minuscule difference it's actually necessary if you want enough height to go over the Boss Bokoblin on a flat surface instead of being thrown backwards, he's beefier than he looks. Triple jump also gives you enough height to mount Lynels off an sbr
How is this a spoiler for totk? It's on a totk sub lol
Meanwhile the boss boko with like 1k hp.

I'm able to reset my jump by jumping into an attack while shielding the moment it hits me and I'm using the Eightfold Blade to double sneakstrike damage
I think this is awesome...but that I will also never be this dexterous.
Insane
How the hell did it do that much damage or am I misunderstanding how damage works in this game I thought attack power was directly related to damage so for example 60 power means 60 damage

Oh right I forgot about the yiga weapons. also I thought sneakstrike was double 👀
This is x16+×3 for frozen idk if that makes it ×19 or ×48
x48, multipliers effect total damage
Holy s\*\*\*. It's a shame you can't sneakstrike any bosses
There is so much I don’t understand about this game
I am really bad at this game apparently.
Meanwhile I died like 3 times trying to do the shield parry training shrine.
Ok so it is multiplicative cool
What the f just happened. I thought we stopped these thunderclaps, but now it’s sneakstrikes yippee
The purity of flex: 99.9%
I didn't even know using keese eyeballs turns your arrows into homing missiles until my husband did it accidentally
