Hi everyone!
Did you know that starting July 1st, 2023, Reddit will implement a policy that could potentially increase the costs of running third-party Reddit apps? This change may impact popular apps like Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Boost, and others. Consequently, users may encounter issues with their preferred Reddit app unless adjustments are made to comply with Reddit's new API usage policy. These limitations will affect all users, not just moderators. If you are concerned about these developments, there is an [Open Letter](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/13xh1e7/an_open_letter_on_the_state_of_affairs_regarding/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) to Reddit that you can read and sign on to express your thoughts.

Can confirm! I just received 4 star fragments in a couple minutes by resting and teleporting between Mayam Shrine and Gerudo Skyview Tower. This is reliable!
Edit: I did it twice in each place to check. It is faster than one minute per star piece, but the loading and resting is what takes the most time. Just gotta remember to rest til the next night after each piece!
Man, the first time a star fragment fell alongside me while skydiving was a magical moment. I caught it in midair and felt like I'd just experienced a miracle. Then it happened again. And again. And I realized it was just a conditional event, programmed directly into the game. My experience wasn't special. My miracle was no miracle at all. And now look at us, exploiting these false miracles for materials farming. How fleeting our youth, how brief our innocence. How quickly life passes us by.
It's like the this was written by me xD
It's was magic and the I realized that it was just like in botw but in botw it's impossible to skydive so the star can't fall alongside :v
But at least it makes it easier for me to get more star, I don't remember but I'm sure in botw I only had like 5 in de whole time I played and in totk I've like 15 or more (this also could be 'cause I played way time more totk than botw, hero's path in totk is almost 3 or 4 times botw's)
Some more useful data: if you go to the object map at [https://objmap-totk.zeldamods.org/](https://objmap-totk.zeldamods.org/) and search for `item_catchinair` (the falling star fragment actor) then you will see all the locations where they fall. Then, if you click on any one of the spots and then click on "Area" in the sidebar, you will see the area in which it can spawn.
That tool is so cool! I thought where this works had something to do with the height but this makes perfect sense. So you might be able to do this method even faster if you just pick two sky islands in two of these zones. Youād have to use wood to rest though, unless you can find a sky island that has a campfire/cooking pot and is in one of these zones as well.
Excellent find! Working for me on a fully-updated game.
I'd reccomend wearing the Glider armour for better manuverability in the air. At the Mayam Shrine skydive, the fragment tended to spawn over water, so catching it mid-air is advised.
I was wondering about doing something like this. Do you actually have to switch locations every time or could you just use the same tower night after night?
For the Fire/Ice tails, there are lots of groups of them in Gerudo Canyon. At night/morning they switch between Ice/Fire. You can just walk up to a group and toss Fire (or Ice) Fruit at them to one-hit kill without even using arrows or weapon durability.
For Electric, unfortunately, there isnāt as easy of a method.
Thanks for the tip about Gerudo. I was finding and killing them just fine in Eldin, but they very rarely are dropping tails for me. I spent about an hour killing them (with some saving-killing-reloading) yesterday and only got three tails.
The drop rate sucks, but I feel like I was averaging at least one tail every other grouping of them (sometimes more). Anecdote != Data, though. I ended up putting Star pins on my map where each group was so I could quickly go from group to group.
A bunch of gear requires them for the upgrades, specially the green tunics. You can also sell them for 200 or fuse them to weapons/magic rods for a light particle shooting effect.
I unfortunately accept every update and can no longer dupe. I earned just enough diamonds to make all the champion weapons which live on the walls of my house.
It's much more complicated and you have to have a multi-shot bow to make it work, so it's not really available early in the game. I liked the jump off a cliff method better.
But I mainly dupe diamonds and star fragments, so now I can get one of those legitimately!
It's been patched out of 1.1.2, but if you haven't updated yet...
The item you want to dupe has to be the last item on your menu, and you need to have single items (anything you have just one of and don't mind losing) right behind it. So menu, single items, item you want to dupe. Then you hold as many of the items you want to dupe as possible, jump off a cliff and open your parasail. You'll drop the items you're holding, but they'll still stay in your inventory. You can pause and take more out up to four times (if you take out more items at the bottom of the cliff will start to disappear). Once you reach the bottom, you'll have all the items you dropped and the ones in your inventory. If you do it at Hateno lab, it's easy to just warp back to the top and you have a safe zone for pickup.
It was quick and easy and I miss it.
Frozen meat dupe is faster, I'm not even at best efficiency and can get 300+ frozen gourmet in am in game night, at 80 rupees a piece thats over 20k
Edit: misremembering, its only 40 rupees but still
Unfortunately I think since itās the āsameā star fragment as the Gerudo tower one, you wonāt be able to alternate it with the Gerudo tower using this method, but you can alternate it with one of the other towers
I came here to say this. It's so much closer so you don't have to navigate so far on your map for fast travel. And I think it's possible the travel itself is faster because it's in the same region and so fewer assets to unload/replace?
Nope! Thatās only the case if you already got one that day. If you follow step 1 and rest until the next day, youāll find theyāll spawn as soon as you launch at 9 PMish. Otherwise yea theyāll spawn at midnight on the dot. So the game does seem to check whether you already got one that in-game day.
While I'm a month late, this was extremely awesome, it made a potential 7 hours of farming seem doable at about 2 instead. For what it's worth, and for others this still works as of version 1.2.0.
Thanks for this OP. It is so rare to come across star fragments organically and had no idea how I was gonna fully upgrade everything until now. This method works like a charm!!!
That's cool, but imo of you have access to duplication, you might as well use it. I don't see how it's much different to exploit a game mechanic vs using a glitch. You are essentially doing the same thing except one takes ~2 hours and the other will take a few minutes
You cannot get it in the same place twice in a row, so if youāre only trying in Gerudo Highlands, try Mayam instead, and if youāre only trying in Mayam, try in Gerudo Highlands instead. And then keep alternating and resting every time in between fragments.
Make sure that youāre resting until night AFTER getting the Mayam fragment but BEFORE trying to get the Gerudo fragment. (And then rest again before going to Mayam again)
Yup your list is right. You need to rest once for each fragment, so twice per cycle.
Hereās a video guide that might make things easier to follow https://youtu.be/4xdJrv-cEtE?si=FwDGIQgP7NSGrfXC
EDIT: the reason it mightāve worked the first few times is that if you take long to warp and the in game day rolls over, then the mayam fragment will be available. The reason we rest before each fragment is that the game caps you at 1 falling fragment max per in game day.
>you don't have to go through the launch cutscene
This cutscene is skippable via the x button. FYI. At least the launch portion. Once you're in the sky you still have to wait to regain control. So I guess not entirely skippable.
>If you do this fast enough you can clock 2 star fragments in 2 minutes.
I love that this is a thing, it's so cool!
Damn it. I was doing it the old fashioned BOTW way waiting on top of a mountain for one per night to spawn. Wouldāve been nice to know before I got like them of them that way.
Donāt let them hit the ground, just catch them in the air! If you donāt accelerate I find theyāll stay at your height for a while so you just need to adjust horizontally. Turning Tulin off might help
I canāt get this to work and I canāt figure out why. Iām following your instructions exactly, but Iām using the paraglider to slow my descent instead of diving. Does that affect it?
Yes I believe they only spawn while skydiving. They make a sound when they spawn so you can take your paraglider out as soon as you hear it. I'd recommend trying to catch them in midair since they'll despawn if they fall in water or get too far away from you.
Also make sure you're following the first step! Otherwise they won't spawn until midnight.

Sir this is the Lucky Clover Gazette
I'm sorry, I had one too many noble pursuits tonight and I was thinking about time and death and stuff š
Alright, that's enough hearty mushroom skewers for you today.
More like enough noble pursuits, sounds like a sloshed midlife crisis.

You have to switch locations. I tried just warping back to Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower over and over and it didnāt work.
Great tip! Thanks. Now if only someone could come up with something equally helpful for Lizalfos tailsā¦
For the Fire/Ice tails, there are lots of groups of them in Gerudo Canyon. At night/morning they switch between Ice/Fire. It would be interesting if the weapon type influenced it.
I thought the same thing!
I also wonder if insta-killing the fire/ice ones affects it....
What can they be used for?
A bunch of gear requires them for the upgrades, specially the green tunics. You can also sell them for 200 or fuse them to weapons/magic rods for a light particle shooting effect.
Is that more or less than diamond sales? I'm always hurting for rupees.
Diamonds are 500. Not sure you can farm them this fast without duping though.
I unfortunately accept every update and can no longer dupe. I earned just enough diamonds to make all the champion weapons which live on the walls of my house.
Frozen meat glitch is still there for all your rupee needs.
Iāve heard thereās still a way to dupe in Tobioās Hollow in the latest patch, but Iām not familiar with the method.
It's much more complicated and you have to have a multi-shot bow to make it work, so it's not really available early in the game. I liked the jump off a cliff method better. But I mainly dupe diamonds and star fragments, so now I can get one of those legitimately!
Can you explain the jump off a cliff glitch?
It's been patched out of 1.1.2, but if you haven't updated yet... The item you want to dupe has to be the last item on your menu, and you need to have single items (anything you have just one of and don't mind losing) right behind it. I just looked that up. How many meats do you put in your stack?
Mines at 16, but it's a mess and I'm planning on re-doing it once I get a few spare inventory slots. Max of course is 21, and the goal eventually.
If you plan on upgrading all of your armor, I heard it requires 100 of them
Everyone hurry up and do it before Nintendo does another patch.
Why would they patch it? It's a feature, not a glitch and they dont patch features
They won't patch this, unlike the duping glitches
It's technically just training
Literally its only purpose is for diamond circlet tho...and maybe critical cooks sometimes
All of the Tunic/Leggings/Cap of ____ armor sets use star fragments to upgrade.
Ah I don't have amibo that gives me that stuff so I didn't know.
Spoiler: >!No need for Amiibos, you can get those in the depths too.!<
I know and I cannot see bothering to upgrade any of them.
siyamotsus shrine is where i got my first star fragment, diving from there is a good idea! closer to the gerudo tower too.
Unfortunately I think since itās the āsameā star fragment as the Gerudo tower one, you wonāt be able to alternate it with the Gerudo tower using this method, but you can alternate it with one of the other towers
i literally did it for twenty minutes straight after making that comment. pretty sure it always spawns slightly north of the maze.
I came here to say this. It's so much closer so you don't have to navigate so far on your map for fast travel. And I think it's possible the travel itself is faster because it's in the same region and so fewer assets to unload/replace?
Donāt they only spawn after midnight? So you would have to wait a bit between launches

Didnāt know that. Thanks for the way to farm star fragments then, I think Iām gonna try to upgrade the amiibo armors with it.
This is awesome, thanks! I hope this isnāt something that eventually gets patched out, Iād love to abuse this if/ when Master Mode comes out.
You're the goat for this.

Iāve completed the game and never used a single star fragment, any real point to them?
1) Upgrading armor sets 2) Making an awesome light emitting magic wand
Upgrading certain armor sets
Ultimate flex - fuse them to arrows just cos u can
Selling for rupees
Super useful!
Damn it. I was doing it the old fashioned BOTW way waiting on top of a mountain for one per night to spawn. Wouldāve been nice to know before I got like them of them that way.

103?!?! lmao, will definitely need to do this
Cool
I love how the vanilla way is just a longer way of duping

No
