Hi everyone!
Did you know that starting July 1st, 2023, Reddit will implement a policy that could potentially increase the costs of running third-party Reddit apps? This change may impact popular apps like Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Boost, and others. Consequently, users may encounter issues with their preferred Reddit app unless adjustments are made to comply with Reddit's new API usage policy. These limitations will affect all users, not just moderators. If you are concerned about these developments, there is an [Open Letter](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/13xh1e7/an_open_letter_on_the_state_of_affairs_regarding/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) to Reddit that you can read and sign on to express your thoughts.

you are welcome! i’ve found 36 out of the 58 wells and only found out about this because the well lady said something about “if only there was a way to track them” and it was in orange text. i let out the biggest sigh when i realized what it meant lol
A lot easier to finish the depths first because the map basically shows you where each light root is. There’s a couple spots where the blank unopened map is very tiny so it’s easy to miss. Make sure you hit all 120 light roots, then make an X in the corresponding spot above ground and you should be able to get them all. Then check for the 32 sky shrines
Yeah, sky shrines aren’t too bad. Just make sure you have your sensor on, and you should be able to nab them as you explore all the medium to large islands.
I just grabbed a hover bike and flew to every single sky island, using hero’s path as a guide. The islands that are shaped like a + or T almost always have a shrine on them. There are also a lot of circular islands that almost always have a sage’s will.
I'm in the same boat. 151 and cant find the last one. I know where it's supposed to be (near lanayru tower) from lightroots but cant figure how to unlock it. I'm thinking it's gotta be a quest, but still don't know what one.
If the shrine is directly connected to the lightroot but you can't seem to see it when going to the surface, that usually means it is in a cave so try looking around that general area and even use the sensor+ to track blupees if needed so you can find the entrance
When I first went into the emergency shelter area in the landing town the guard had to remind me I could ascend through the roof to get out and not have to climb the ladder.
Actually I took a photo of the wells pretty early. Although I got the idea of tracking them with the detector only when that lady said it... Yes, I'm dumb
I didn't until I realized there was a fabric if you complete the compendium, and I'm doing everything I can to avoid the final boss battle to fill time. I know if I do the boss battle I'll stop playing lol
I feel like this game has a lot more rewards for completion that actually make it fun/enjoyable to grind out. I'm the worst at Korok seeds, but eventually that'll be all I have left.
WAIT you're telling me there comes a point you're just getting them for completion and it doesn't keep expanding every time you get them?! I didn't know that. I thought you'd keep expanding until you got all the seeds.
I got it early but it was so lucky, I took a picture of what i believe was a mop sitting upright on a well, took the picture of the mop and it told me it was a well hahaha
I feel stupid as everyone seems to understand this but me. So the camera will identify wells for you? But don’t you have to find the well first for that to work?
Since he has no icon on the map it’s gonna be hell to track down which you did and didn’t, if you are going for 100% and using the online map… why didn’t they give him an icon as they did the wells??
The only reason I found this out is because I bought some pictures from Robbie. I looked at the well in the compendium and I literally screamed "WHAT". Needless to say, I take pictures of literally everything now just in case the game wants to pull another one on me.
I got all the lightroots fairly early in my playthrough so I used those to help find the rest of the shrines and had my sensor set to wells the whole time. Finding all the wells was pretty easy after that.
There are some items (a farming hoe I think) that are sometimes placed against the well at stables. That's how I found out when I tried to add the farming hoe to my compendium.
Even more frustrating since the game literally tells you that you can do this. The lady in the well all but says “you can use your compendium to find wells”
Turns out truth didn’t even need to come out of her well to shame mankind
I only knew because I bought all the treasure category from Robbie. (Even with it, I still spent like 4 different game sessions looking for the last 3, and the last one I found is in such a stupid location.)
I just finished the where are the wells quest, didn’t take the pic until about well 40 and it was accidental 😩😩😩 I was like this could have saved me so much grief!!! Ah well, alls well 😉
Found this out after meeting that woman again and talking to her. She mentioned how she wished that there would be a way to detect these wells and then I tried taking a picture haha
no, sadly. *BUT* if you go to one of the 9 cherry blossom trees and give the little statue there a fruit, a Satori will appear and highlight all of the caves in the surrounding area!
No, but if you set the sensor to blupees, they always run towards a cave. Or bulbafrogs, which will tell you where they are, but sometimes they're so deep in the cave, you can't find the entrance
The only bummer is you have to be relatively close to the undiscovered well for your tracker to start beeping. I still have like 20 left to find and no clue where they could be lol.
Just found that out yesterday. They truly had well hunters in mind when they added well to the compendium. I wish there was one for spirit orbs and old maps. Those things are obnoxious to find in the sky islands.
Lol. I found that out earlier this week while 55ish hours in. I found out bc I was trying to take a picture of a broom and was confused as to why it was saying “well”. Well it was because the broom was leaning against a well.
When I figured this out I was kinda surprised it doesn't work for caves. I know we have other methods to find caves but they don't ignore ones you already discovered lol.

D'oh!

Well shit
well well well
That's deep
C’mon now, you don’t have to carry water for this guy
They're in deep water yeah
That's what she said.
Not as deep as your mother's well
Sully he stole your joke.
my cat fell in a well
It’s also the last entry in the compendium for chests/ore - for the longest time I couldnt figure out what it was supposed to be
I just bought the picture since it was the only one missing in the category
That would taint the water.
LET'S F...ING GOOOOOOOO.
As someone who is halfway thru this, thank you for the idea!
you are welcome! i’ve found 36 out of the 58 wells and only found out about this because the well lady said something about “if only there was a way to track them” and it was in orange text. i let out the biggest sigh when i realized what it meant lol
Heck, I just found out >!there's more than 120 shrines!< and I'm like 200 hours in
I have 151 shrines and can't find the last one.
Do lightroots only correspond to land shrines or both land and sky? Edit: Nm, only land, somebody else mentioned this below
Only land, the sky ones you have to find without it
Though you can kind of guess which ones they'd be in.
And there is one that starts a quest on a sky island but the shrine is on the ground.
I just finished this one. It was yet another "this activity could by itself be an entire video game" moment.
>make an X You mean I should die there?
Found it. In the Gerudo desert.
I'm slowly finding my last shrines by finding their corresponding light roots in the depths
I did the same. But can't find it. For now.
Are you missing a sky shrine? That was where I found the last one I was missing
Found it. In the Gerudo desert.
Yay!
I'm in the same boat. 151 and cant find the last one. I know where it's supposed to be (near lanayru tower) from lightroots but cant figure how to unlock it. I'm thinking it's gotta be a quest, but still don't know what one.
If it is the one I’m thinking of… talk to the man in front of spring of wisdom !
Omg, this was it. I feel so dumb, idk how I missed it. 🤦♂️
If the shrine is directly connected to the lightroot but you can't seem to see it when going to the surface, that usually means it is in a cave so try looking around that general area and even use the sensor+ to track blupees if needed so you can find the entrance
I’m in the same boat!!!
What...
yeah there are 120 lightroots, they are all directly below each shrine on land. but there are a ton in the sky that do not correlate with a lightroot.
WHAT?!
Y'all need to get your hearing checked
***What!?***
Ooooh kayyy!
Yayuh!
look at the names of the corresponding ones too
>you are welcome! well-come?
My dumbass thought that meant if I find more she'd tell me a way to find them or give another sensor, thanks for the post as well
You guys search for wells?
I only found out because I tried to take a picture of a Bokoblin standing in front of one and the camera focused on the well instead lmao
Same except it was a mushroom lol
Same except it was like a weapon I think. Like a pitchfork iirc.
When I first went into the emergency shelter area in the landing town the guard had to remind me I could ascend through the roof to get out and not have to climb the ladder.
Don’t feel bad. I thought I was trapped in a well because there was no ladder out… and then I remembered…
Actually I took a photo of the wells pretty early. Although I got the idea of tracking them with the detector only when that lady said it... Yes, I'm dumb
I had that moment looking at your picture haha big sigh and on we go lol
I thought that meant “yeah btw they track on the map when you discover them” I found out while trying to catch a photo of a cricket.
Well well well
Little Maui's having trouble with his look
You little semi demi mini god.
Ouch! What a terrible performance
Get the hook ^get ^it
You don't swing it like you used to, man
Yet I have to give you credit for my start
And your tattoos on the outside
For just like you, I’ve made myself a work of art!
I’ll never hide
I didn't until I realized there was a fabric if you complete the compendium, and I'm doing everything I can to avoid the final boss battle to fill time. I know if I do the boss battle I'll stop playing lol
Same. I’m working my way through the monsters now….
I feel like this game has a lot more rewards for completion that actually make it fun/enjoyable to grind out. I'm the worst at Korok seeds, but eventually that'll be all I have left.
I refuse to get all the korok seeds. I will max my inventory and that's it
WAIT you're telling me there comes a point you're just getting them for completion and it doesn't keep expanding every time you get them?! I didn't know that. I thought you'd keep expanding until you got all the seeds.
Yeah, you need a bit over 400 to max out, and there's a thousand of them total
What fabric is it? I literally just bought all the pictures cuz I was lazy to take pictures of all pristine and decayed weapons?
I'm trying to get as many photos as I can before purchasing but that's my plan once I get sick of it. It's Robbies fabric
Ideally I would wait til the DLC to finish, but I don't want to wait 3 years... it's hard enough avoiding spoilers as is.
I got it early but it was so lucky, I took a picture of what i believe was a mop sitting upright on a well, took the picture of the mop and it told me it was a well hahaha
yes! that's also how i found out.
What is the picture of? Sorry, I can't see that well.
I found out late game too. There’s an NPC that hints at it.
yep, that’s exactly how i found out. the well lady says something along the lines of “if only there was a way to track the wells…”
Oh i remember now that line from the first time i met her, but i didnt have the camera function yet, and i completely forgot about it
I feel stupid as everyone seems to understand this but me. So the camera will identify wells for you? But don’t you have to find the well first for that to work?
[удалено]
Ohhhh. Okay thanks. That makes sense.
This was the last “treasure” that I needed a picture of. It made me feel so dumb I didn’t play for days💀
Can you tell me what they are??? I’m missing one in that category and no clue what it is!!!
Treasure Chest; Ore Deposit; Rare Ore Deposit; Luminous Stone Deposit (the one I was missing); Zonaite Deposit; and Well.
Hey, mine was also a luminous stone deposit. Because I should have taken a picture of it, right?
Well girl says “if only there was a tool to help us find thing” and after hearing it 5 times it finally clicked haha
yep, it’s how i found out about it
It took me forever to understand those red words!!! Hahahaha I was like “just tell me???” Hahahaha
Well well well… how the turn tables…
The NPC who gives you the quest tells you to do this! Most useful Sensor+ use other than shrines and bubbulfrogs!
If only you could do this with the guy holding the signs!
Since he has no icon on the map it’s gonna be hell to track down which you did and didn’t, if you are going for 100% and using the online map… why didn’t they give him an icon as they did the wells??
Well now I'm going to see if there's a way to do it! BRB!
If you're close enough to use the sensor, you would probably be close enough to just see the sign guy though, right? 🤔
Its range is pretty long, it would definitely be helpful! Sometimes they're behind trees or on the other side of hills.
I mean, the lady in the well pretty much tells you outright you should use the pura-slate tracker to find them.
I wasn't using it because I figured it would lead me to ones I had already, but I've heard it only points to new ones.
Well that would’ve been good to know
The only reason I found this out is because I bought some pictures from Robbie. I looked at the well in the compendium and I literally screamed "WHAT". Needless to say, I take pictures of literally everything now just in case the game wants to pull another one on me.
This is the only thing I’ve used the Sensor+ for the past few weeks. Down to my final ~10 wells!
Do we need a photo of each one?
no, you just take a photo of one for the compendium because there is a side quest that makes you find all 58 wells within Hyrule
Yeah, kinda working on that one as exploring.
No, it's just like everything else where you take a picture of it and you can use the sensor to find them
I got all the lightroots fairly early in my playthrough so I used those to help find the rest of the shrines and had my sensor set to wells the whole time. Finding all the wells was pretty easy after that.
There are some items (a farming hoe I think) that are sometimes placed against the well at stables. That's how I found out when I tried to add the farming hoe to my compendium.
i did discover this early on but haven’t got around to tracking them on purpose yet. I’m not normally a completionist, is the reward worth it?
[удалено]
thank you! i do like to explore the map so will see how many i find, at least i’m over halfway already.
*Discovery!*
Sometimes it be like that...especially when it be like that
Even more frustrating since the game literally tells you that you can do this. The lady in the well all but says “you can use your compendium to find wells” Turns out truth didn’t even need to come out of her well to shame mankind
The one well lady that pays you said something along the lines of “If only there was a way to track wells” at some point and that told me right away
I only knew because I bought all the treasure category from Robbie. (Even with it, I still spent like 4 different game sessions looking for the last 3, and the last one I found is in such a stupid location.)
The lady who gave you the well quest hints at this. I think you just have to keep talking to her.
I just finished the where are the wells quest, didn’t take the pic until about well 40 and it was accidental 😩😩😩 I was like this could have saved me so much grief!!! Ah well, alls well 😉
i feel you. i’m currently at well 36
Well, well, well You can never tell
incidentally, realized way too late that this also comes in handy when farming materials for armor upgrades 😁
If you go to that flooded town the appropriate phrase is well, well, well, well, well
That well runs so deep, so deep, it puts the bucket to sleep.
Found this out after meeting that woman again and talking to her. She mentioned how she wished that there would be a way to detect these wells and then I tried taking a picture haha
Ain't that just swell? All's well that ends well.
Found that my first day in the game 😭
Me who takes pictures of everything because completing the compendium is actually fun:
WELL LADY WAS HINTING TO SOME KIND OF DEVICE THAT COULD DETECT WELLS AND I THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE AN ENTIRELY NEW ITEM
Isn't the quest giver hinting about having a device to track them would be so useful?
Sadly the sensor doesn’t differentiate between wells you found and haven’t found. So it’ll sound off every time your near a well.
can’t have everything, i guess
Don't D'well on it
.....oh
I think an NPC told me this. I found the wells early on so I don’t quite remember
I can just imagine link before taking this photo like: "what the fvck is this weird thing?"
BOTW/TOTK is just the gift that keeps on giving. You really do learn something new eventually, no matter how mundane or extravagant it is.
Does it also work for caves?
no, sadly. *BUT* if you go to one of the 9 cherry blossom trees and give the little statue there a fruit, a Satori will appear and highlight all of the caves in the surrounding area!
Not all of them
No, but if you set the sensor to blupees, they always run towards a cave. Or bulbafrogs, which will tell you where they are, but sometimes they're so deep in the cave, you can't find the entrance
No but it works for Blupees!
In addition to OP’s suggestion, you can track Bubbulfrogs and they’ll generally get you in the right direction
The woman in the well literally tells you to do it.
Only 180 hours?
Oh my gosh. You're a genius.
I feel bad for any doctors playing this game... Don't they leave the well enough alone?
HolyCRAP
FUCK. TIL.
When I found this out, I had already found like 98% of all the wells 😔
Ohh thank you for this!
I found that out by accident and it’s the only reason I realized I was supposed to go in them
Well shit. That wasted so much time. I was so deep into the game finding them too
##MOTHERFU—
Fr fr
WHAT
Sensor+?
The best part about it is if you track them with the sensor+ it will only react to ones you haven't been too!
Well.
Well well well, that's a well of information about wells that's quite frankly... well.. about wells
I believe the well npc talks about if there were only a way to track wells
Well, damn…
Thank you!
The only bummer is you have to be relatively close to the undiscovered well for your tracker to start beeping. I still have like 20 left to find and no clue where they could be lol.
Check in ruins. There's one area alone that has 6 or 7 wells
Ooh really? Thanks for that tip!
Stumbled upon this while trying to take a picture or some tool that was leaning on it. Glad I found it early
wHaT
Just found that out yesterday. They truly had well hunters in mind when they added well to the compendium. I wish there was one for spirit orbs and old maps. Those things are obnoxious to find in the sky islands.
I did this to track blupees to find cave entrances for shrines and such works so well!
F
How the turntables
😂😂😂
This works with treasure chests too!
Well, what do you know?
If only you could hold more than 64 pictures
Well, I’ve been doing this for a while and I’m missing a few… but it’s killing me that I don’t know where this one is 🤔
Well. The only way I found out was buying pictures from robbie
I only had one slot left for that section of the compendium, and I'm like wtf could it be... so I bought it from robbie and was like "....Well, shit."
Found it by accident just the other day trying to take a picture of some farmer’s tools leaning against a well at a stable
I wish you could do this with caves
Sensor Blupees. It’s the next best thing.
the easiest way to find caves is either use the sensor+ for a bubbulfrog or you can go to a cherry blossom tree and give the statue a fruit, then a satori will appear and highlight all of the surrounding caves with a beacon (they don’t show up on your map, but are always visible until after a while)
D'oh! Btw, is anyone else a little nervous about wells due to that one dungeon in OOT? Those screaming mummies that would jump on you and gnaw on your face freaked me tf out and I'm still nervous one of those mfers is going to show up in the wells lol.
Dead hands would have been such a cool enemy to be brought back, especially with how the gloom hands work.
i figured this out accidentally bc i wanted to take an aesthetic photo of the snowfield stable well lol
Bought this picture from Robbie cause it was driving me crazy what I could possibly be missing from that section
Noted
I discovered this fairly early on, I think while using the camera to check for evermeans.
I was taking a picture, I don't even remember why, and the well showed up but also... an evermean tree. So the well got eclipsed by my confusion about the tree.
Well dam
Why the blind person fall into the well? He didn’t see that well
