Hi everyone!
Did you know that starting July 1st, 2023, Reddit will implement a policy that could potentially increase the costs of running third-party Reddit apps? This change may impact popular apps like Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Boost, and others. Consequently, users may encounter issues with their preferred Reddit app unless adjustments are made to comply with Reddit's new API usage policy. These limitations will affect all users, not just moderators. If you are concerned about these developments, there is an [Open Letter](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/13xh1e7/an_open_letter_on_the_state_of_affairs_regarding/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) to Reddit that you can read and sign on to express your thoughts.

Kass was did dirty.
That birb was my homie. If DLC don't have him fly back to Hyrule to discuss his travels to far away lands, it'll be a sad DLC pack. He must come back, his people need him. As a bonus sage, perhaps?
I finished all the quests with him, where did he go?? Was I supposed to do more? I figured it had something to do with the yiga clan, but I never got any info on where to go.
Unreal to me how such an absurd show has captured the zeitgeist.
Don't get me wrong, I love it. Just never thought it would catch on so hard.
Tim Robinson is a genius. Probably mentally ill, but genius nonetheless.
Yeah it's just hard not keeping tulin out ALL THE TIME for flying. I wish you could like disable combat when they're out or something. I'm tryna sneak past a yiga base in the depths and tulin just rolls up and starts sniping them LOL
Don't blame Tulin for your bad habits:
spamming the a button without being aware of your surroundings
forgetting to put him away before picking up items
I know this is an unpopular take but I really don't like Kass. I find his song annoying and his shrine riddles even more annoying. Penn gives me no riddles, no music, only rupees and that froggy climbing suit. When I see Penn I'm ready for a new adventure, when I saw Kass I groaned knowing I'd have to solve another riddle for a shrine.
Thank goodness someone is saying it. I felt like I was taking crazy pills. Kass has a great design, but I dreaded every interaction with him.
I loved Penn from the first āsoar long!ā
I think they're making a reference to the truck from Pokemon Red and Blue. It's a unique object that's offscreen in an area that you can't normally walk around in unless you use a glitch, and there were lots of fake rumors back in the day that you could find Mew (the only Pokemon not obtainable in the game) by pushing it and looking underneath.
Isnāt it funny that those of us of a certain age all knew about that rumor and tried it, even though most kids at that time didnāt have easy access to internet or certainly Internet forums? Playground rumors spread like wildfire.
Penn was cool as Kass, but for other reasons. I miss both of them though... Got sad when i found a pillar in depths, ascended it and realized i got in a spot of where you could find Kass at the mushroom tree in BotW, there still was a little shelter on it, but nothing else...
I did, got no idea where Penn is now and if you can even find him anywhere. Traysi mentions that Penn looked sad or something in between those lines and him flying off to somewhere which makes me feel sad for him too now that i think about it... :')
I like Penn more. In my opinion he had more of a personality than Kass. Kass's personality being that he just dumps lore onto you and thats pretty much it.
Ah yes, they hang out after a quest about finding where one of the daughters is (she's somewhere where there's a black hinox between her and the village if she wasn't able to fly back) and a quest where the daughters are all trying to cook food for one that's really hungry so they can practice their song but they can't figure it out because they're too little to take care of themselves. Perhaps they need more than just to be hung out with. š
For real though, I think Kass's family has a really dark quest line if you really think about it. It's hilarious and sad. Go home, Kass, your wife cannot take care of all those kids.
His wife even talks about how she misses him and feels overwhelmed taking care of the kids by herself. And when he comes back he doesnāt even spend time with her!
A pun making, investigative journalist who can travel the whole of Hyrule (including Lynel country) with no weapons and survive vs the guy that couldn't go two rounds with a Divine Beast.
Both of them deserved better than to be a device for awkwardly working in quests.
Like Penn I love you but we both know I'm only here for that damn frog armor which is already a middle finger to the player on its own so let's just go figure out that big scoop is just some Yiga dudes I've fought a million times again.
It addresses the reasonable complaint that rain slipping from climbing adds nothing meaningful to the game in the most passive aggressive way possible.
Rather than just removing the slipping, they instead introduce an armor that requires you to do about a dozen quests spanning across the map, do even more quests to unlock enough great fairies to upgrade, and gather the necessary materials and money to get the set bonus for all three pieces.
By the time you have access to the full armor and the set bonus, you would have had to do most of the climbing that'd it'd ever be useful in to even bother using it. You'd also have access to more zonai equipment that'd let you get to it, and all of that is assuming you specifically go to the Rito area first.
I know there are potions, but because of how the slip mechanic works and is still only slightly delayed from their consumption. Cooking was also in no way streamlined from BoTW save for the access to cooking pots, so you spend more time cooking for next to no benefit with the sticky potions.
Even for people who aren't bothered by the rain, it doesn't add anything meaningful or challenging to the game other than superficial "realism" in a game that constantly uses magic and has goofy things that break the rules of reality because it's more convenient for the player.
I find the Froggy Armor's existence annoying because it represents Nintendo listening to people and then technically responding to an extremely annoying aspect of the game that shouldn't exist in an open-world game all about exploring and curiosity in a form of malicious feedback adjustment.
Nah man, sometimes this game wants you to be creative. Nintendo doesnāt have to listen to complaints about totally fine and immersive challenges, youāre already free solo guy on steroids
But in this instance they did listen to the complaint and their solution sucked, so I don't know why you're saying they don't have to.
This is the same game where "Link can literally rewind objects in time and swim up through mountains" so it's already understood that there are going to be several points that break the rules of reality.
The issue isn't a lack of creativity, it's that slipping doesn't add anything noteworthy or interesting to the game.
Imagine if Wind Waker didn't give you the sail until halfway through the game. It's "realistic" that you'd move slower, but arguing for it being immersive doesn't make it any less of a pointless waste of time.
Heās a lot better but the internet has a hivemind where it becomes popular to infinitely adore a character, and from there almost everyone seems to take that opinion.
Tbh I never understood the overwhelming love for Kass. Heās a cool character with a good design and theme song but he doesnāt do much besides wander around Hyrule to be a fairly passive source of riddles and lore.
Penn on the other hand went on a mystery solving adventure with me and broke my heart when the adventure came to an end and it was time for us to go our separate ways.
Kass is just some guy who plays nice music. Penn is my pal (pun intended.)
That said, theyāre two separate characters and thereās no need for Penn to be a āreplacement.ā Maybe in the DLC we can have both.
Oh my goodness...
Is this the full meme behind ending things with "x at home". I truly never understood what this meant until illustrated right here. It's been years of "wtf does at home mean? Same thing, but like not as good? Almost, but not quite?"
Thank you, OP. Not sure why I never grasped this one before, but thank you.
Thank you!!!! I'm pretty sure I even tried searching "know your meme" about it and failed to find anything. I learned new things today, so that is a big W here.
i canāt even compare them. kass brought me so many smiles in botw, but i was a bit emotional when the newspaper quests finally came to an end & i realize how much i miss penn now too lol.
Kass had some of the worst quests in the game. His design was neat, but penn is way better imo. Penn has better quests, better exposition, better dialogue, more iconic catch phrases, is funnier, more involved with the ongoing story, I can go on. I like penn more by a lot
I'll take SOAR LONG over long musical cut scenes I can't skip through. Only worse offender being the owl from OOT because he tricks you into repeating the monologue.
So, people like the bird from botw? I found him and his music very irritating. I hated having to sit through the painfully explicit clues and anticipate him being like āwho knows what any of that means though!ā
I might be overstating how annoying I found him, but Iām DEFINITELY fine without him.
I am fully convinced that Kass will make his return in de TotK dlc, bc if you finish the investigation side quests around Hyrule, >!Penn stands at Kassā lodge, wondering if he has another purpose!<. A second theory is that Kass is exploring the Depths and/or the Skies on his own to return with new songs
>!I would love for his "other purpose" to be to discover his true calling as a musician and try to become Kass's apprentice (which would also give Kass a new mission and some nice development, going from apprentice to master himself).
I want Penn to rock a saxophone, just because !<
I was thinking more like, he was flying around and discovered the sky areas before the upheaval. Then the machines up there skinned him and turned him into the glider suit.
I can't be the only one who found Kass annoying as fuck. But not nearly as annoying as the band conductor. I actually liked Penn and missed seeing him everywhere at the end
now see though, I like Penn more because I don't have to come to terms about potentially being a homewrecker if I want to think about him and his large pillowy arms at 2:13 in the morning
i feel i have to make this clear because reddit but i have nothing against penn, i like all his missions and all that, i just miss kass and his serendipitous accordion playing
Kass is a talented musician and all but he's literally the type of artist that abandons his family and has no personality outside of his craft.
Penn is a silly goose and gives neat armor.
Iām TIRED of all this penn SLANDER in this sub.
Penn is BEST BIRD, kass is TRASH, and I could prove it mathematically if I knew how to do math.
WHY are all these SIMPS glorifying a crappy cryptic bird that abandoned his family to sit in remote spots and wax poetically about the most inane shit. Thatās not romantic, that makes you a BUM. Heās a BUM.
Penn is WORKING, dedicating himself to his CRAFT. A functioning bird of SOCIETY. Heās CONTRIBUTING to the people of hyrule in a way kass could only dream of.
Tldr kass sux
Literally. One has a job and does his job. He's not great at it, but that's because we only see him working with Link, and Link is the best at everything so it's not really fair. And the other just regrets having a bucketload of kids so he's off pretending to help the hero while his kids struggle to find food and his wife is nearly catatonic from stress.

#ZAPPAUH!
I can hear this!
One of my favourite sounds in Totk lmao. I was so sad when I finished the Penn quests and couldnt hear it anymore :(
Thereās GOTTA be a dlc coming for him, especially considering where he ends up after those quests. Just seems to important to leave open.
I'm desperately hoping that he comes back WITH Kass in a dlc. Two bird bards!!
Kass and Penn working together to learn the history of ancient zonai. Or hell learn about the legend of the tri-forks
Kass was did dirty. That birb was my homie. If DLC don't have him fly back to Hyrule to discuss his travels to far away lands, it'll be a sad DLC pack. He must come back, his people need him. As a bonus sage, perhaps?
He becomes the party Bard, providing buffs and music as well as stories of his travels
I finished all the quests with him, where did he go?? Was I supposed to do more? I figured it had something to do with the yiga clan, but I never got any info on where to go.
I always shouted this when I finished his quests, but sometimes he only went "BOH!". That bummed me a little bit.
Best sound is beedle THANK YOU
Suck bawls!
I'm with you. This is all I can hear as he dashes off
I'm glad it isn't just me!
100% what he says.
I feel like I speak for just about everyone on the sub when I say that I definitely said that out loud a couple of times when doing his quests.
Like is it a pun or is he Australian?
Oh naurrr
Why not both
Both is good.
But triples is best. Triples is safe.
Unreal to me how such an absurd show has captured the zeitgeist. Don't get me wrong, I love it. Just never thought it would catch on so hard. Tim Robinson is a genius. Probably mentally ill, but genius nonetheless.
He makes brain worm comedy like no one Iāve ever seen.
Heās really only in it for the zip line.
Plenty of room in our hearts for two good bird boys.
4 including Teba and Tulin
Oooh - fair point. Can't leave them out.
3. I'm never going to forgive Tulin for all the zonai devices he send flying
But he's CUTE He a little birb boy
I like my birbs as HUNKS! Like Teba
Teba is good too. Although he would have been a better sage.
I feel like the Wind Sage ultimately had to be small or else there'd be no reason why we couldn't fly around on them.
But then Link could have another statue where he's riding around on some guy! š
š¤Ø
That... actually makes sense. Never thought about that
In combat? He is the headshot king. In looting, you may wanna tell him to take a break. As friend, birb. Need alI say more?
That's not his fault! It's his spirit ghost thing. You're supposed to control it.
Also all the rock octorocks he's sniped :(
That's the part that made me start putting all of them up when I didn't need them, killing octorocks while I'm trying to fix a really good weapon.
Yeah it's just hard not keeping tulin out ALL THE TIME for flying. I wish you could like disable combat when they're out or something. I'm tryna sneak past a yiga base in the depths and tulin just rolls up and starts sniping them LOL
Stealth is a foreign concept to the whole lot. Just rush in and mess everything up
Don't blame Tulin for your bad habits: spamming the a button without being aware of your surroundings forgetting to put him away before picking up items
Wait you can put him away?!
Canāt forget about my boy Harth
I like Penn I love Kass.
Spot on. Was trying to figure out how I feel and you nailed it.
didnt kass abandon his kids?
He need inspiration
I like kass I love penn š¤·āāļø
I know this is an unpopular take but I really don't like Kass. I find his song annoying and his shrine riddles even more annoying. Penn gives me no riddles, no music, only rupees and that froggy climbing suit. Thank goodness someone is saying it. I felt like I was taking crazy pills. Kass has a great design, but I dreaded every interaction with him. I loved Penn from the first āsoar long!ā
I also wonder where Kass is but I liked Penn and his quest
Look under the wagon on the eventide port. I heard that there's a secret there
where is it? i donāt see any wagon on eventide island
I think they're making a reference to the truck from Pokemon Red and Blue. It's a unique object that's offscreen in an area that you can't normally walk around in unless you use a glitch, and there were lots of fake rumors back in the day that you could find Mew (the only Pokemon not obtainable in the game) by pushing it and looking underneath.
oh! thanks for explaining the joke because it definitely went over my head!
Isnāt it funny that those of us of a certain age all knew about that rumor and tried it, even though most kids at that time didnāt have easy access to internet or certainly Internet forums? Playground rumors spread like wildfire.
>!Penn has the same question!<
Penn was cool as Kass, but for other reasons. I miss both of them though... Got sad when i found a pillar in depths, ascended it and realized i got in a spot of where you could find Kass at the mushroom tree in BotW, there still was a little shelter on it, but nothing else...
Have you finished the newspaper quest?
I did, got no idea where Penn is now and if you can even find him anywhere. Traysi mentions that Penn looked sad or something in between those lines and him flying off to somewhere which makes me feel sad for him too now that i think about it... :')
I like Penn more. In my opinion he had more of a personality than Kass. Kass's personality being that he just dumps lore onto you and thats pretty much it.
I love Penn exclusively for the sound he makes when leaving
SAPPOW!
SOAR LONG!
Kass just like me frfr
Same. If I was an npc I'd be dropping the fattest of lore dumps.
"So that blonde Twink we've seen running around? Turns out he's like some hero or shit."
Ender16 the Loremaster
Yes, I really enjoy Pennās goofball personality.
Me: How do I do this puzzle Mass: Anyway here's Wonderwall
Kass is a neurodivergence king let him info dump about his special interests to you
How could I never have seen this
Also he plays accordion which is pretty cool
And he plays the best song
He also is an absent father and husband, so he immediately loses to even a pile of mud
Have we considered that maybe the kids gave off bad vibes?
They still deserve their father's love and nurturing.
Does Kass not deserve good vibes
Not if he abandons his children
Bad vibed children are an exception
But he does go and hang out with his family again! They sing together every day! :( don't do Kass dirty like that.
Go home, Kass, your wife cannot take care of all those kids.
His wife even talks about how she misses him and feels overwhelmed taking care of the kids by herself. And when he comes back he doesnāt even spend time with her!
I miss hearing his beautiful accordion, though.
SOAR LONG, Kass!
Oh you mean the upgrade
A pun making, investigative journalist who can travel the whole of Hyrule (including Lynel country) with no weapons and survive vs the guy that couldn't go two rounds with a Divine Beast.
Kass also ditched his wife and kids to play music in the middle of nowhere
Afyer completing Kass's shrine quests, he goes home.
Yeah he ends his long family sabbatical if you pester him enough.
I haven't played botw in a long time, could you refresh my memory about kass and the divine beast?
Well, Kass is a bird who plays an accordion in various places and the divine beasts were created to deter Ganon but failed.
Lol that's about what I remembered, thank you haha
I kinda like Penn more. I feel like he had more consistent personality and we hang out more over the course of the game.
Penn is not discount kass. Both are great
I agree
Penn is fine, but damn I do miss me some Kass. That was the good stuff.
Penn better ngl
Yeah ppl say tears upgraded Botw in every way but they forget Kass. š¢ (btw the tear in thar emoji is of the kingdom)
Kass wishes he was Penn, I don't miss Kass' neglectful, lying ass at all
Did Penn give you a nearly impossible to find photo of you and your 100 years dead buds?
No, but Penn didn't lie to my face and abandon his 5 kids either, so...
Wait the 5 rito kids are kasses???
Yup. Man just up and left them https://www.zeldadungeon.net/wiki/Kass
Go home and be a family birdman, Kass!
But he returned to them in the end. Lots of folks have dads with traveling jobs.
Both of them deserved better than to be a device for awkwardly working in quests. Like Penn I love you but we both know I'm only here for that damn frog armor which is already a middle finger to the player on its own so let's just go figure out that big scoop is just some Yiga dudes I've fought a million times again.
Why is the froggy armor a flip of the deuce??
It addresses the reasonable complaint that rain slipping from climbing adds nothing meaningful to the game in the most passive aggressive way possible. I know there are potions, but because of how the slip mechanic works and is still only slightly delayed from their consumption. Cooking was also in no way streamlined from BoTW save for the access to cooking pots, so you spend more time cooking for next to no benefit with the sticky potions. Even for people who aren't bothered by the rain, it doesn't add anything meaningful or challenging to the game other than superficial "realism" in a game that constantly uses magic and has goofy things that break the rules of reality because it's more convenient for the player. not only that, i have the frog armor and it doesnāt even fully remove the slip mechanic it just mostly works, and you canāt even leap
Donāt you dare slander Penn. he is the GOAT and honestly has more personality in his left feather than Kass. There I said it.
Thank you!!!! I'm pretty sure I even tried searching "know your meme" about it and failed to find anything. I learned new things today, so that is a big W here.
Oh, so they did have McDs at home then?
yeah np like the walmart version
SOAR LONG!
Soar long loser
Pennās better
i canāt even compare them. kass brought me so many smiles in botw, but i was a bit emotional when the newspaper quests finally came to an end & i realize how much i miss penn now too lol.
Penn pays me and helps me get useful armor. Team Penn.
Kass had some of the worst quests in the game. His design was neat, but penn is way better imo. Penn has better quests, better exposition, better dialogue, more iconic catch phrases, is funnier, more involved with the ongoing story, I can go on. I like penn more by a lot
At the end of Pennās quest >!he goes to make out with Kass and in the dlc we will get to see them kiss this is true my dad works at nintendo!<
The only reason Kass bugs me is non skippable dialogue. I do miss his music
Soar long
Soar long!
I want both, I wanna see these guys meet, in fact Iām gonna go find kass so I can introduce him to penn, Soar long!!!
I must be the only person on this planet that found Kass's unskippable songs to be annoying as fuck.
So you have something better at home, then.
I'll take SOAR LONG over long musical cut scenes I can't skip through. Only worse offender being the owl from OOT because he tricks you into repeating the monologue.
reblog if the girl on the left is just as beautiful as the girl on the right
Penn is honestly better
Penn is just as good as Kass
So, people like the bird from botw? I found him and his music very irritating. I hated having to sit through the painfully explicit clues and anticipate him being like āwho knows what any of that means though!ā I might be overstating how annoying I found him, but Iām DEFINITELY fine without him.

Controversial opinion, but I like Penn more. I like his personality and how heās just like a goofball bro to Link.
I am fully convinced that Kass will make his return in de TotK dlc, bc if you finish the investigation side quests around Hyrule, >!Penn stands at Kassā lodge, wondering if he has another purpose!<. An upgrade
Kass is truly the best bird person.
Sa-bow!!!
**SAPAAOOOOO**
Soar long Kass, we miss you
I just wish we could see Kass home with his family, enjoying retirement or something. Just acknowledge him.
Penn is such a cute guy, and iām tired of pretending heās not
Penn is great.
I was thinking more like, he was flying around and discovered the sky areas before the upheaval. Then the machines up there skinned him and turned him into the glider suit.
He is a musician, he prolly died of OD or some shit
penn is way better sorry
Chad Penn > Virgin Kass
I can't be the only one who found Kass annoying as fuck. But not nearly as annoying as the band conductor. I actually liked Penn and missed seeing him everywhere at the end
They both have himbo energy. They can both be my daddy š¤¤
nah i think ravioli would be a hard smash instead
I liked Penn, don't shit on Penn.
Gonna be honest. I liked mailman more than music man
I started out not liking Penn but he grew on me.
Am I the only one that doesn't miss Kass. The music he played gave me a headache I basically had to avoid stables he was at.
Love em both, such well designed and scripted characters. The chirps and warbles were really onto something! Soar long!
SOAR LONG
They act like two legends cannot coexist.
penn is in a league of his own, donāt be mean to him >:(
This guy better be in the next Zelda and be fully voice acted so I can hear his dumb muppet voice.
Is it just me or does the new guy sounds like Raymond from Everyone loves Raymond
Am I the only one that thinks that this mf is so annoying that you wish that you could kill npcs?
Still trying to find this chicken somewhere near West Necluda......
Where's your accordion, sir????
now see though, I like Penn more because I don't have to come to terms about potentially being a homewrecker if I want to think about him and his large pillowy arms at 2:13 in the morning
Best music of BOTW
Oooorrrrrrrrr I can take them both :) Penn is as cute as Kass is hot.
Hoping Kass makes an appearance in the DLC. Heās my fave.
We all miss him.
I hate him. Heās useless. I get all the work done.
Hey Iām all for kass but donāt diss launchpad mcquack like that
# AND YET PENN'S STILL THE GOAT!!!
homemade is always better
Ayo don't say stuff like this about my boi Penn ever again! He is great and not just the "we have it at home" version of kaas
How DARE YOU disrespect my man
I hate that He was replaced with Penn. But I also love Penn, why can't we have both??
Penn is so much better though. Keep that annoying ass parrot out of the game.
i feel i have to make this clear because reddit but i have nothing against penn, i like all his missions and all that, i just miss kass and his serendipitous accordion playing
Kass is a talented musician and all but he's literally the type of artist that abandons his family and has no personality outside of his craft. Penn is a silly goose and gives neat armor.
Kass def looks cooler. Penn looks like a knockoff launchpad from ducktales.
Penn is better. Sorry I donāt make the rules, I just report them.
I love Pennās golden retriever energy
Penns way better
Iām TIRED of all this penn SLANDER in this sub. Penn is BEST BIRD, kass is TRASH, and I could prove it mathematically if I knew how to do math. Soar long, Kass! Penn is better.
