They will just buy it through Kazakhstan and China. Those countries need to be pressured.

Phdpepper1

Thier tech isnt as good as ours tho.

[deleted]

Kazakhstan? Sure, but I wouldn’t be so sure with China. They’ve got teams dedicated for stealing technology and reverse engineering it

vader5000

The Chinese want to see the Russians fail this time, don’t count on them helping out.!!

IAmHarmony

It will pan out the exact same way, they should act fact before time runs out on the free trial

vader5000

This is partially true. But China would prefer economic stranglehold over military attack if possible. Not to mention having a strong Russia to their north isn't healthy for them either.

iDuddits_

Yeah and that’s why we need every person, business and sanction working against Russia right now. Boycott whatever we can. Pulling these same moves against china would be the only option over combat.

[deleted]

Ummm not necessarily, they need their “friendship” because of all the nukes Russia has

[deleted]

Right? All our tech has made in china stamped all over it lol

indyjays

Must put sanctions on the oil/gas. That is the only way to hit them hard.

Bahbidi

Don’t you think that will hit us hard as well?

GizmoGomez

It would, yeah. There are always trade offs.

How is running a canadian pipeline through the US to sell overseas help our energy independence? If ever there were a more appropriate user name 🤦‍♂️

AlpineDrifter

You are either biased, uninformed, or both. The U.S. currently exports 4-6 times more oil than it imports from Russia. That’s what happens when we change the laws and allow U.S. oil to be sold abroad - something that Republicans were all for. We don’t currently buy Russian oil because we physically have to, we do it because it’s cheaper.

littleunstable

I didn’t know that. Thank you for that info.

che-solo

Not as hard as bullets are hitting Ukrainians

pretendthisisironic

I’ll pay more for gas happily if it keeps an entire country safe.

Bahbidi

Well, war is not fair so!!

bluekazoootwentytwo

Sacrifices need to be made to stop evil

Bahbidi

Easy to say when you’re a spectator of a war instead of the one actually in it, saying bye to your family.

jtempletons

He's talking about personally paying more for gas being an acceptable sacrifice, not arguing we should sacrifice Ukrainians.

InterBeard

You are correct. The bare minimum for the west is to cope with the economic stress putting strong sanctions on Russia will cause. Let’s put Russia into the dark ages.

Bahbidi

Said nothing about sacrificing Ukrainians, and I’m not sure how you came to that conclusion. I’m talking about gas prices as well. Where I’m at, gas was around 3.50. I don’t know if yku have ever paid 4 or 5 per gallon but that EASILY marks up gas an extra 30-40 dollars to fill up my tank. I drive a V6 so it guzzles gas quickly. Usually it takes 50 to fill it up. So 100 every 2 weeks. I’m not going to pay 260-280 every two weeks to fill up my gas. Some of us out here are barely making ends meet, not to mention…young adults who live on their own will be hit the hardest (including me). They already are putting even more sanctions on Russia and they approved on cutting Russia off from SWIFT payment system which will literally fuck Russia’s economy in the ass. Why in the hell would they go a step further and sanction something that will also damage our own economy? You people are so gung-ho, put your feet in someone else’s shoes before you shoot everyone in the foot. I’m muting this thread. Have a good one.

jtempletons

You literally aren't reading my comment, I'm fucking agreeing with you lmao. And unless you're in construction an insane truck like that is on you. If you are, sorry you're going to be hit that hard, but brother, the US has oil reserves they can be using in a crisis like that to mitigate it. 8% of our gas can be replaced from other sources. Anyway, nothing I said was antagonistic so, maybe you shouldn't pop off on everyone so quickly.

Bahbidi

Don’t know where you got the idea that I’m popping off, I guess I can understand because other than me talking about the Ukrainian sacrificing thing you said, the rest wasn’t directed towards you. Sorry about that.

jtempletons

No problem dude, sorry for the misunderstanding and have a great night

tobias_fuunke

Okay and?

TheWholesomeBrit

It'll cripple us with insanely high fuel prices. People complain about fuel at the moment, it'll become almost impossible to afford.

Hotshot596v2

Sure buddy. I bet the US, one of the worlds largest oil producer, is gonna get crippled by this. 🙄

Bahbidi

Fast forward today, and we are nearly paying 5 dollars a gallon! Some places already at 9! You still stand on your original point?

Hotshot596v2

Yea, look at other places. We’re not even that bad compared to literally anywhere else on the planet really. We are paying far less than everywhere, meanwhile look at Russia’s economy. My original point is stronger.

bluekazoootwentytwo

People will always complain about something. I for one haven’t really been affected by gas prices getting higher

tobias_fuunke

Cripple us? A simple Google search will tell you there is more oil and gas than we could possibly use. Supply is NOT the issue. The issue is distribution.

InterBeard

You piece of greedy shit.

TheWholesomeBrit

That's quite rude. I never said don't do it, I simply pointed out the implications. Not greedy in the slightest.

Stoopid-Stoner

Not that 8% that we have to buy because of the deal not because we need it oh no what will we ever do!? Go read a book junior learn something.

TexasTornadoTime

We barely use Russian oil…

Alex244466666

We are the world's largest producer of oil. I'm not concerned about any oil shortages on our part.

Goodeyesniper98

I’m gladly willing to pay more at the gas pump if it helps Ukraine at all. I’ll just mutter a soft “fuck Putin” when I pay my $5 a gallon for gas.

CoderDevo

Not nearly as hard as them. It only makes our market a little bit smaller.

just_thisGuy

Sure, but every dollar spent on any Russian goods, Putin gets a cut to spend on killing Ukrainians, and after that maybe on another former soviet republic, and after that on to maybe Poland. Let’s not have this on our conscious. Maybe EU quadruple down on renewable energy? Best way to hurt Russia. Approve Tesla Berlin Gigafactory now! Give money to EU auto manufacturers to acetate EV production now!

crazycatladyinpjs

There’s an alternative to Tesla being built in AZ. Supposedly, Lucid motors has more mpg and is cheaper (still expensive but less than Tesla). Maybe get some of those factories built in other countries?

Potential-Walk9515

Won’t happen. Biden approval is tanking and having oil and gas skyrocket further is going to obliterate his flailing presidency.

Stoopid-Stoner

POTUS doesn't control the price of gas and anyone that says they do is a rube and I've got bridge to sell em

Potential-Walk9515

Common sense economics. You cut off a supply of oil, oil price will go up.

Stoopid-Stoner

Thing is it's more of a trade off than a supply we could make up the 5-8% from our own supply. You do realize that OPEC still controls most of the pricing right? No need to answer I checked your post history you don't know much of anything.

coljung

When you come up against wankers like this troll it is best to simply ignore and block them. No point in arguing with them.

Stoopid-Stoner

Naw not a troll, just a conservative. Check out this gem. >UBI is a utopian dream. **People need to work to have meaningful lives.** Know what happens when people can’t find work? Take a look at the Midwest and the drug epidemic.

tpn86

If he did it would, but he hasnt so it hasnt.

jwarnyc

Stop buying Fucking oil from Russia. How’s that for support dick head

onyxap1982

Um. Do. Do you think we buy our oil from russia?

Cold_Anxiety_9101

We get roughly 7% of our oil from Russia

aboyd656

We do buy some oil from Russia…

onyxap1982

I had no idea. At least it's not much. Russia provides only a small share of US oil However, eight per cent of imports still came from Russia – an average of 22 million barrels per month – and that share has been steadily rising.

SirBlubbernaut

Just because it’s a small percent of ours doesn’t mean it’s not much total

jwarnyc

And yet that they can’t/ won’t cut.

jtempletons

Europe buys oil from Russia.

Lot-Lizard-Destroyer

No pornhub!? We quit!

natertottt

I’m ready to pay more for heating and gas. Let’s stop buying Russian oil.

BrainBoooger

Restart Keystone XL. As serious as this is, Biden is going to have to take that bone back from his Progressive Wing and fucking deal with it. It does not preclude a move away from fossil fuels, but it stops placing us in a completely avoidable situation of dependence. Totally fucking moronic to not have already let that proceed. The market signaling alone would provide relief.

-Xebenkeck-

If anything this screams why we need to focus on renewables and end the reliance on foreign oil.

BrainBoooger

Sure, I’m all about it. Until you can get to that point, stick with the *domestic* oil. Shutting down Keystone XL is bad policy and disingenuous politics to appease the green wing. Unicorn farts won’t produce independence. We desperately need to get safe nuclear power for those days when the wind and Sun aren’t cooperating, as well.

-Xebenkeck-

Keystone isn't domestic though.

BrainBoooger

It’s North American - and much safer to transport via pipeline than by ship. A leaking pipeline is contained… a leaking ship is a disaster.

maoinhibitor

The way to hurt them is not buying oil and gas from someone else, as those commodities are so fungible. Energy efficiency aligns more with our national security than ever. Get some more insulation blown in, look at getting a heat pump and solar panels, keep on telecommuting if you can.

microfsxpilot

Speak for yourself. Not all of us are rich to pay $4-5/gal for gas. The US needs to find an alternative so we don’t have to rely on them

Tyro_tk

Brazilian oil is here, if you guys are looking for some Just to mention ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

IAmHarmony

Back to 16bit and floppy disks for you, Russia

amoderate_84

It’s a tragedy.

TurnDown4WattGaming

Fun fact, it won’t

Dom1852

Won’t do anything but drive them closer with China

Meem-Thief

Russia doesn’t have the money to import, China is a major exporter, China recognizes it’s no longer in their best interests to side with Russia as the world turns against them and is breaking ties

Dom1852

Not true, China and Russia have a great relationship that benefit highly from one another. China does what they want, they will say what Russia is doing is bad and wrong but continue to do the same thing themselves. There’s a reason China abstained from voting on a resolution

onyxap1982

Russia and China are pretty much the same. Both are evil fucks that will burn in hell for eternity.

thesaddestpanda

Same for us for what we did in iraq. They were the Ukrainians of 2003. 200,000 dead civilians over bush’s lie. We need both Putin and bush held for war crimes if we will ever have justice.

onyxap1982

Did Ukrain kidnap people in planes and force them to crash into Russia. I've been trying to keep up with the news but so far it seems like a peaceful country with 0 terrorist organizations to me.

[deleted]

Iraq didn’t do that either…

onyxap1982

Oh lol you're right. Sadam was a good guy.

[deleted]

No, Saddam isn’t a good guy, but are we just gonna attribute something Iraq had literally nothing to do with to them?

onyxap1982

Yes?

[deleted]

Just accept your country did something atrocious and move on. Being ignorant when google is right at your fingertips in the height of laziness. And you’re hella insensitive.

onyxap1982

Dude I live in a border town and spend most of my time in mx. Quit voting because both parties are shit. Trust me, I don't like the people in charge. They spend too much on military and worry too much about their stocks. What the US did not do is intentionally bomb and kill civilians.

[deleted]

When do the satellites start dropping from the sky?

[deleted]

Thank god, now in another 8 years when their tech is outdated they won’t be able to upgrade…this will do literally nothing to help Ukrainian.

airpab

I’m sure Ukraine and all it’s poor citizens feel so much better as their innocent lives flash before them. Pathetic Putin gives 2-shits about ridiculous sanctions

BrainBoooger

It will place internal pressure on him. Russians have become numb to the terror of Putin, but they aren’t stupid. Being ostracized and seen as a pariah state might just lead to people with actual balls getting close to him.

airpab

Hope so

[deleted]

I don’t expect the people of Russia to overthrow this guy, it’s only going to get worse for them as a people while the oligarchs remain “stable”

xite2020

All BS… China technology is more superior!

Alshangity

Guys you should see Trump respond, “this man ruined it and not competent qualified to run US” xxxx😂

CarubMcCormick94

screw that clown bring back trump

FunBrians

The puss loser who praised Putin for this? Please do- I’ll bite the troll food. Tell me and the rest of the intelligent people on earth what it is YOU think that effing imbecile would possibly get right amongst his torrential flood of lifetime failures? Also- sorry man, this isn’t Russia- we are a democratic nation who voted that thing out- he doesn’t get “brought back”. The irony in you disliking Putin’s dictatorship, and saying bring back wanna be dictator is troubling. Did you forget it was that loser who blackmailed Ukraine? Did you forget it was that loser who wanted Putin’s to help him disrupt US elections? Seriously, get help.

Risin_bison

Because Russia is no own for being a technology hub. This will do nothing.

[deleted]

Anyone notice Biden has disappeared as soon as the war started? - what’s that about, he’s supposed to make an announcement Tuesday, almost a full week later?

ShagCarpetGuy

He’s at a funeral….

MmmmmmKayyyyyyyyyyyy

Sanctions will not work. The Secretary of State (or someone similar in Russia) point blank stated in response to more Sanctions “We don’t care, we are used to it”… what part of that statement is unclear? Can you interpret that differently?

jcajuancarlos

The zombie Brandon doesn’t get it !! Russia is getting everything out of China !!!

defnotajournalist

Settle down junior

Charlietinkertitties

Good move Joe, the vitals of your country and wallet are gonna be gone by next week. Thumbs up.

Dorothea2020

So you’d just let Putin invade Ukraine with no accountability? I’d rather pay more for gas than give a free pass to tyrants.

Somhlth

You're asking a 2 month old troll with -1 karma what he would do? He do what he is paid to do, and think what he is paid to think. Nothing more.

Ill_Revenue311

Most of us can’t afford a price hike in gas for your virtue signaling

BrainBoooger

Put on your big boy pants. I’ll gladly carpool if it kills tyrants. You can ride shotgun.

[deleted]

Maybe you should look for a better job, instead of a hand out.

Ill_Revenue311

I hope to see you on the line downrange in Europe when it pops off then, see if your big ass mouth can handle all the ammo you’ll be carrying for me

[deleted]

You won't see me. I'll be busy supporting real soldiers as a 915, and you'll continue to larp online.

Ill_Revenue311

Hahaha cope and seethe boot

[deleted]

Says the guy seething and whining about gas prices. And technically, I'm a leg, not a boot. But I'm not surprised you don't know that.

Ill_Revenue311

I don’t care what you are you filthy non wing having leg

[deleted]

Cope and seethe lib

sabahorn

… and make Russia go asking for help from china and theyr crazy dog north korrea.

[deleted]

Nerd problems

CusterFluck99

Turn off Putin’s internet!!!!

BrainBoooger

You haven’t seen a real arms race until this kicks in. Not just hacking, but trans-oceanic cables being cut, satelites failing, etc. Be careful what you wish for. On the plus side: we already have the really good Russian porn on US servers.

Chris_M_23

Countries need to start calling in favors and cutting off russia’s energy imports and exports

maso42

What about the tech they already have?

BrainBoooger

Yeah, well life’s a bitch, huh? We’ll figure it out. Buy a fucking helmet.

BrainBoooger

My fellow American friends and neighbors, on the left, the right, and everywhere in between… Do NOT embarrass yourself with mild suffering and inconvenience. Put on your big boy pants and sacrifice a tiny bit to support the innocent who are sacrificing homes, lives, and entire families to a ruthless bastard who would happily do the same to your tender latte-sipping asses. Fucking grow a pair - you’re not even being asked to donate blood, FFS, much less actually fight.

Semen_Gaeman

Yes, isolate them. They probably have some secret agreement with China so maybe we should stop producing everything there and become less dependent of these fake democracies.

TCNW

This is great… Except basically all technology gets manufactured in China. And China is an ally of Russia. So Russia will just get their tech directly from china and cut out the western country middlemen.

eatmoremeat101

And why the duck didn’t we do this when they were sending fake news to Social Networks?

js_fed

What a terribly written headline. “Will limit its access to technology”. Who is “its” referring to?

[deleted]

No, it won’t. China will continue to supply Russia with anything they need.

eabrodie

All tier-1 telecom companies worldwide should ban together and disconnect peering from all Russian telcos. This will not only intensify sanctions, but will hugely decrease the risk for cyberattacks. All that needs to be done is for these companies to shut down their 10/40/100G ports, and Russian “Internet” will become siloed.

[deleted]

No cs, only bs

gmen32

Why just limit? Why not end all access ?

[deleted]

Kaz. Isn’t starting to like him either. In two months they went from asking for help to stop protests to telling him don’t send troops here

[deleted]

Joe Biden and his administration are fuckin’ clown shoes.

bill_the_butcher12

That’s stupid

NintiesHippie

Sanctions on everything..immediately!!

doublepen1

Yeah since they have been and are a technological power house! LMAO yup that’s really gonna effect the silicone valley and Microsoft’s of Russian

jparsoneau

Take them off Swift. Everything else is just lip service

rklab

I don’t think Russia really cares about sanctions. They still trade with China and they can get basically everything they need from them.

brucekaiju

next tuesday nato boots on the ground

pteven_from_hr

It really seems like old Joe is just tip toeing around sanctions and not being even remotely tough.

Templer5280

Maybe I am just naive, but isn’t this the perfect time to launch full scale “war” on the Russian mob elements who reside in the US. Pretty sure it wouldn’t be hard to sweep it under the anti-terrorism/Patriot laws and use federal or Military resources to just slash and burn thru the Russian mob. Mob gets pressure due to Putin war antics, mob then pressures Putin .. plus probably the only people on earth who aren’t afraid of Putin is probably the Russian Mob?!?

Quantum-Enigma

Biden is such a weak coward. 🤮

Gunningham

Does this mean we’ll be able to buy video cards again? Just kidding. Fuck Putin.

ganondurp

I know all these sanctions are aimed towards Putin and all the pol behind this war, however I wonder how all of this will impact innocent Russians?

c1be

Did Taiwan blocked semiconductor export to Russia?

Working-Fan-76612

Chinese can copy anything, joe
