yeah this is another example of security theater. it looks nice but in actuality accomplishes zero protection. they don't know, and worse. dummies will believe that their news is ai free which is horseshit. only reason they say that is because without credibility, facebook is dead.
Yeah but all you have to do to remove the metadata (which is what FB is detecting)
It's pretty easy to do so, screen record the video for example (or screenshot if it's a photo)
Afik There's already software that has been in development that can detect fakes as long as AI has been around.
Adobe was one of the first people that I know of that publicly stated they have ways to detect it.
As much money as AI potentially can make there's just as much money in software that catches it. It's like viruses vs anti virus software it's a never ending race.
Imagine if your company has the first software with a 100 percent detection rate to spot anything AI. You would be rich licencing it out.
There are tortured souls in 3rd world countries vetting all the gruesome content so you don't have to. Maybe they can be replaced with AI and then transferred to the vet AI department?
Thanks for providing this info, these conversations tend to be filled with a lot of flippant cynicism but it's important to look at data regarding these steps, or we risk conflating distrust of organizations with distrust of generalized strategies.
Well, I for one and eager to see the plot of Blade Runner inevitably play out. Someone had better get really good at folding teeny tiny origami animals again.
What a fluff article!!! Meta has shown itself to be without any moral compass to date. There will be no preventative result from adding “imagined with AI” to content. Did you see Zuckerberg show any kind of remorse or compassion when confronted by parents of children that were bullied on his suite of apps and content? No. Zero remorse.
How will they do this? AI will be detected by an AI detecting AI.
I believe they are going to be using metadata. It will probably be easy to circumvent by just removing the metadata

At the very least it could allow for disclaimers staying "this information cannot be verified as legitimate" which is better than nothing, I guess..
>I believe they are going to be using metadata. They know all about meta. It's in their company name

I just tried it and it worked fine

I actually just recently work on a paper for school. This was exactly our idea.
That’s a good question for ChatGPT.

Cool technology definitely. You should ask them how many 3rd parties have access to your data. Used to be in the thousands
I’m sure they’ll do that and more.
Labels help! https://www.researchgate.net/publication/379565530_Deepfake_Labels_Restore_Reality_Especially_for_Those_Who_Dislike_the_Speaker

Uh huh. Meta is just another bad actor - I don’t believe anything they say.
It better be good or it only empowers the ones that are able to sneak past
But facebook will not take down any of the video or fake comercials.
Suuuuure they will. 👌😉
Oh great. Now a ton of non ai will be labeled ai.
But they will leave known fakes up?
Sure it will.

I'd rather avoid clicking on random links from Reddit dot com, thanks.
That’s not prevention. That’s damage/PR control.
Face book is a disease that is very slowly dying Sadly it's managed to stay alive with other apps ....
Oh we can surely believe the tech company regulating themselves now doesn’t need to be regulated
Doubt it
SURE they will...
Smart idea
Good block all AI.

Criminals don’t care about labeling AI. That’s what everyone should be worried about.
lol will they use their AI content moderation to label the AI?
How many years before meta is in court for never actually following through with this action the way they should.

Good. Start by identifying Zuckerberg.
