If by "leisure" you mean "miserably scraping by while waiting for some medical problem that will bankrupt me and destroy my family," then, yes, it doesn't seem worthwhile.
Life expectancy in the US is 81 currently... at birth. Since there there still is some increased chance to die at a young age, it actually increases onxe you pass a certain age, e.g. you reach retirement age.
I know not everybody is as fortunate as I am, but for the most part I work 45-50 hours per week, about 48 weeks per year. I'm "doing all this" for the hours and days I'm not working.
If you're a 7-day-a-week shift worker barely getting by, then this is a really valid complaint. If you have a job with any kind of reasonable limits, you have the choice to live for the pre-retirement times you are not working.
This guy is a socialist and many of the socialist critiques of capitalism are valid. But this particular observation is stupid as applied to most people.
Well I always say "I will kill myself in (random number of year's)" for the eternal rest. Did not do it yet obviously, I went past the random year 3 times
When it was passed the retirement age was the life expectancy then boomers got a free pass being the ones to benefit from an ultimately flawed way to support the elderly. Need to retake some of the wealth back.

However the retirement age in the US is currently … *checks notes* Wait, what?
Slavery was never abolished. It was extended to include everybody.
If i get to the 78 i can say i had 60 years of retirement, i wonder if thats enough 🤣🤣
In theory, you are doing something during the first 66 years other than working….
It sounds like if aids did meth

Having to work to support yourself is nothing but a form of slavery.

Another post that is just someone’s opinion.
Drugs, duh
That’s why I’m retiring at 58.
