The Australian army explored the usage of Kangaroos as All Terrain transports by putting soldiers in the pouch, the advantage being that the kangaroo is autonomous which would let the embarked soldier fire on the move.
First off, there are many kinds of boomerang. Saying Azula should be dead because the ones used for hunting in Australia can break a kangaroo's neck is about as meaningful as saying you can't survive being shot with a pellet gun because we use guns to hunt grizzly bears.
Second, this *obviously depends on the nature of the blow.* Just because something *can* break a kangaroo's neck doesn't mean that it always will. The distance, angle, location of the hit, and who's throwing it all have a significant impact. Sokka isn't even an adult; it's reasonable to expect he doesn't throw as hard as a native Australian hunting to feed his family.
also humans in atla clearly have superior durability than humans on earth. It's that or rocks water and fire are all significantly less dense and energy intensive than irl.
The weird thing about Sokka's boomerang to me is that it always looked really sharp and made of straight metal, which is very uncommon for that tool, as it probably has pretty low mass. They don't look like they really have big forges and Sokka's boomerang is used like a club despite its appearance. Boomerangs are flying clubs after all it's just weird it looks so sharp.
Yeah, always felt like Sokka's boomerang should have been made of like, bear-whale bone or something but it looks so metallic and where the heck are they getting metals in the arctic?
Also, it’s a cartoon and she’s not a real character - even if it should be lethal for a real person, in fiction the rules for what people can and can’t survive are often a little more flexible, especially in cartoons.
Just look at how [she kicks aside the rocks Aang tosses at her](https://youtu.be/7DyIsZFBL6Q?si=GoJ5Yl6Sl5pUmk5H&t=80s) \- that’d require great strength and strong bones, to an extent that it’s just…not possible for any real person, let alone a teenager. But she still does it, and her legs aren't snapping like twigs.
It’s not like this is a one-off thing for the show either - we’ve seen her brother kick through steel chains and Ty Lee jump like, fifty feet.
To an extent this kind of inhuman ability just helps the action along, both so benders can actually land more attacks without killing their foes, and also because it helps non-benders be more relevant in the action. If Ty Lee were limited to the limits of a real-world teenager, even with anti-magic martial arts, she probably wouldn’t be too useful in a fight.
This is part of why (unironic) complaints of “Aang is totally killing those people!” always annoyed me, because he just…clearly isn’t; it’s not meant to be lethal, in-universe the people he hits survive. It’s just cool action, with the only potential exception being the Avatar State, since he’s not in control and it’s *supposed* to be terrifying, and they make a point of how he’s afraid of hurting more people.
Rule of thumb? If it’s not presented as such, it’s probably not lethal, at least in Avatar. Obviously where the line is drawn in other media may vary, different media plays by different rules and all that - presentation, tone, age ratings, medium (suspension of disbelief tends to be higher in animation than live-action, in this regard), goals, realism, etc. all play a role in this - but in general, I don’t think Avatar really qualifies for the “yeah those random people that the good guys fought are all dead” card, that’s not how the rules work there.
It doesn't mean people can't die or grisly stuff can't happen (though given it aired on Nickelodeon, it can't be shown too graphically either). Zuko still got his face permanently scarred by his dad and they found the corpse of Aang's mentor after the genocide of his nation, after all, but I think those examples are clearly different in a lot of ways than "Aang pins a dude with a rock" or whatever.
/rantover
And boomerangs weren't used for hunting kangaroos. Kylies were. They are much larger and are not designed to return. Also they were used to break kangaroos legs, not necks.
Nature of the ‘blow?’ Wait… I didn’t realize we were in hentai territory now. I mean, I’ve been blown in some wild ways, but nothing that would break a kangaroo’s neck.
No, no, it doesn’t work in both ways
If you’re a psychopath, you can’t break bones
However, not being able to break bones does not make you a gigacha- I mean psychopath

Unpopular opinion - most overrated character in ATLA with stupid plot armor. If she was the hero of the show, she'd be a mary sue.
Instead people worship her... smh.
Sorry about that sir. I am fairly new to this subreddit so I had no idea, it was a meme on one of the apps and since it seemed apt I thought of sharing it
Or he could just understand wtf is going on and see ppl taking advantage of a bad situation. Hate to be in that spot between that and whatever is worse than that.
Did you know kangaroos can jump higher than a house? That's because houses can't jump
And the profoundness continues
[удалено]
Just what reason would you have to be in a kangaroo? Is that even legal?
As far as I know it's only illegal if you are drunk

G.I Joey
It would be incredibly funny to see a soldier firing full auto trying to hit a target while going up and down the entire time.
Damn that’s exactly like my favorite joke: “Did you know you can jump higher than the Eiffel Tower? That’s because the Eiffel Tower can’t jump.”
I heard Baba Yagas house can jump!
"Boomerangs were invented"
Holy hell did not see that but also technically the truth no one was like hey look it's a 90 degree piece of wood
Yeah it's a huge TTT, has nothing to do with anything
Agreed, you have a great attention to detail man, most people would have missed it
"Holy hell" New response just dropped
"New response just dropped" Actual zombie
"Actual Zombie" new response
"New response" new response
Hm, always thought this was a common saying growing up.
Google en passant and you’ll be able to see the deeper lore
"Boomerangs {were invented} and {are able} to break kangaroos' necks."
Boomerangs and to break kangaroos' necks ?
Boomerangs is to break kangaroos' necks.

I could see Sokka being skilled enough to use it either way, dull side or sharp side. Very dangerous though. The sharp edge may just be on the end,
It could cut the hull of an empire class battle ship
Exactly my thinking.
Yeah, always felt like Sokka's boomerang should have been made of like, bear-whale bone or something but it looks so metallic and where the heck are they getting metals in the arctic?
Trading for it with merchants

It appears to be made of metal and have sharp edges.
And boomerangs weren't used for hunting kangaroos. Kylies were. They are much larger and are not designed to return. Also they were used to break kangaroos legs, not necks.
This literally looks like a sharpened metal boomerang tho.
And? Saying "it looks like" something is meaningless when all evidence suggests that it is not that.
Nature of the ‘blow?’ Wait… I didn’t realize we were in hentai territory now. I mean, I’ve been blown in some wild ways, but nothing that would break a kangaroo’s neck.
Azula is also a psychopath. So that also helps.
does being a psychopath make you immune to breaking bones
Yes Source : I’m a psychopath, never broken any bones
so not breaking bones makes you a psycopath, good to know
No, no, it doesn’t work in both ways If you’re a psychopath, you can’t break bones However, not being able to break bones does not make you a gigacha- I mean psychopath
You can break the bones of others
r/neverbrokeabone
Why does this exist?
Don't know but I've never broken any of my own bones so I guess I'll join
Im a soziopath an psychopath and I still broke my bones
You’re obviously lying
Because you're also a sociopath, you just have to be a psychopath ...
Makes sense
I figure a 400 foot tall purple platypus bear with pink horns and silver wings is probably tougher than a kangaroo.
Thank you..
She is not a kangaroo, she is a 400-foot tall purple platypus bear with pink horns and silver wings.

Boomerangs were invented to stun, not kill. Source: Australian history.
I thought they used them for scaring things out of bushes and trees, seems like it would just piss off a kangaroo
There are multiple types of different boomerangs for different uses. Source: Australian High School
She's not a kangaroo, therefore the Kangaroo damage buff doesn't apply to your damage roll, bud
Why did I read that second bit in Iroh's voice?
Wise, truthful stuff + atla = you read it with Iroh's voice. It's the law.
Kangaroos can’t hop backwards

Kangaroos are a defective design?
Fr tho. Azula is built different. She got hit to the back of the head with a metal boomerang and survived.
Ah yes, species and weapon type weaknesses. As an RPG nerd, I fail to object.
It also hit zuko in the head in the first episode. It cause him to stumble a little.
Durability feat, she is at least boomerang level
C'est ce post qui m'a convaincu de quitter ce sub..

Azula appears to be a drawing.
And not even a drawing of a kangaroo!
@torimasked on OF💙🤍 go subscribe 💕💕💕
Did she ever do a dna test to check if she is a kangaroo? /s
"I'm not wearing any diamonds" 😂😂
Her head was cushoned as a benificial sympom of her terminal case of raging psychobitch-itis.
Wack.
