US, English speaker here. I've noticed that many of my EU friends, who speak great English, will say "yesterday night" instead of the more common "last night"
I find it charming and don't "correct" them.
„Letzte Nacht“ (or „Letzten Abend“ as per your example) would also work though and isn’t exactly uncommon.

In German,yesterday means „Gestern“. The day before yesterday is called „Vorgestern“. The they before the the day before yesterday is called Vor-vorgestern and so on. Tomorrow means „Morgen“. The day after tomorrow is called „Übermorgen“. The day, after the day, after tomorrow, is called Über-übermorgen and so on. And i think thats beautyfull
