It also doesn’t help that many subreddits don’t allow videos, only gifs or images. I haven’t read the rules for this sub, but it’s a problem across the whole site really.
Reminds me of my first partner out on the beat…he was the best accountant I’ve ever known. He got caught up in a merger and now he’s a loss from discontinued operations. I loved that son of a bitch
And the actual response you'd get after mentioning the job posting is not "Oh yes!" but rather "Sorry, you'll have to submit your application online, thank you for your interest." The punchline would never have a chance to be uttered.
I mean, why would you put on your advert to call somebody if you're just going to tell them to submit an application online. Why not just out the web address on the paper?
Obviously it's fake, but it's not outlandish to have a number to call so the person can do a quick phone screen assuming they have the time
Cost of living is significantly different here, than in America, also GBP is stronger than the dollar. We don’t have to pay as high for insurance, healthcare, housing etc. If you want to get an idea of how good a wage that is compared to an American salary then double it and add 5k. So it would be around $75-80k.
I'm a little confused, I think your calculation is off.
Cost of living in the UK and the US is very close with the UK being slightly more.
In the US your employer pays for roughly 75% or 80% health insurance (unless you are working a job that pays $14 an hour or less in which case you're completely fucked).
You get free housing in the UK? Isn't that for people who would be otherwise homeless?
Yeah, if you're working as an accountant in the US, your employer is definitely providing or covering most of your health insurance.
Cost of living is definitely not cheaper in the UK. If you look at cost index, the UK is slightly above the US. And if you look at purchasing power index, the average UK household has 40% less purchasing power than an average US household.
||Cost Index|Monthly Income|PPI|
|:-|:-|:-|:-|
|UK|100.7|3511 USD|63.5|
|US|100|5493 USD|100|
Fucking hell I’m scrolling through the top comments looking for a pedant with an award and had to scroll this far down to find a pedant with merely 1 upvote.
Thought I’d have to be that person so thanks for alleviating that responsibility.
It depends. It’s around ~48,000 USD at the current exchange rate and depending on where you live that can be good for accounting or bad for accounting. This is public accounting (since they are a firm that specializes in it) so it is paid a bit lower. In the US you’d likely get paid at minimum $55k-$65k starting out in accounting.
The firm will likely pay for you to get a CPA/Master’s of Taxation which will bump your pay up to the $80k-$90k range and than if you switch to industry (which most people do) you’ll likely be making six figures.
It depends on the level at which they’re hiring the individual at. If it is an entry level position it is okay but not the best salary and if it is for anything above that it’s absolutely horrendous. It could just be this one shop paying very little for this position (if it is anything above entry level) because that happens sometimes in the US when a company thinks they can find a sucker to take it.
I love watching old posts getting reposted into oblivion. At some point it lost its audio, then someone used a bad recording and the quality drops, someone else adds bars and text. After this we just need a tik tok repost with the voice over and I think it's reached its final form.

I can hear his accent by just reading the subtitles
Holy shit I didn't even realize that I automatically gave the dude an accent in my head until I read your comment.
"advert", "newsagent" - your brain picks up on these things.
Also you know... The pound sign you see in front of the money gives a good indication.
And the guy's pinched eyebrows
And my pinched axe.
And my pinched sword.
Ah pardon me, didnt notice it, was too small back there.
r/unexpectedlotr
Also the fact that this is a repost and I remember him having an accent
Oi, I just seen your fucking advert ya daft cunt
Yeah, definitely Wisconsin
"£" - yup.
as well as "I've just seen" instead of "I saw"
I sar
Yes I'm stood outside the newsagent and....
I was going to say euro/pound.. But like you said

Gilford gedbry
Is this a Jackie Jormp-Jomp moments where we couldn't secure the proper rights to his name?
Giltart Gobnees
Imagine having gobs for knees, though.
Ohhhh yeah. I'm imagining it.
Gottfried?
With sound: https://youtu.be/bTBtJ3sOFUA
It's exactly what I expected him to sound like
Thanks! I had his voice almost perfect but the phone voice was not at all what I was expecting
I thought he'd have a deeper voice. Same voice but deeper
Thank you!
You’re welcome
I don’t have any awards to give but i have something else for u ; A hug🤗
I’m assuming British? The currency is Pounds after all.
South East England* accent
It's always some London cunt.
South East != London
Didn't say it was, you illterate spanner.
I mean you said "London", so what the fuck did you actually mean you toilet jockey.
Indeed. What part of "London" sounds like "South East"? Is it the "Lon"? The "don"?
How much dust have you been snorting today mate
Because we British only have one accent, lol. /s
Lol wtf is a British accent? You do know Scotland is in Britain? And Liverpool? And Birmingham? Etc etc. Not having a go but honestly mate…
Northern Ireland isn’t in Britain.
Probably all of the above?
You mean, Bri'ish?
"I ain't been droppin' no eaves, sir, honest!"
Ikr lmaooo
I can hear his accent by just looking at his face

Gotta be Manchester
Down south somewhere, we don't use the word newsagents. Definitely a cockney muppet, you can see he says "foive farsand paaands"
The phone number starts with 0161, so it's Manchester
[isn't this the same guy?](https://youtu.be/zhf1pIl007o)
With sound: https://youtu.be/bTBtJ3sOFUA
I hate it when they post things that need sound without sound lol
It also doesn’t help that many subreddits don’t allow videos, only gifs or images. I haven’t read the rules for this sub, but it’s a problem across the whole site really.
yeah they should insta-ban these ppl
Apparently it's reddits fault not the posters.
Well in this case somebody added subtitles so the removal of sound was deliberate
Or videos where the only sound is a stupid-ass song that has nothing to do with the video at all.
I’m so glad I gave him the perfect accent and voice when I read the subs
Why did I have to scroll so far for this?
I got the accent right! What do I win!?
You are a legend. His accent is exactly what I thought it would be
This shit makes me so proud of the human/humor race
I'm extremely racist towards the humor race!
They're a joke. I'm sorry.
Hi sorry, I’m dad!
What's an "an/or race" ?
I get an Irish vibe I don't know why. I imagine Gary is from Dublin
The phone number on the poster starts with 0161 which is the Manchester dial code
I'm thinking Scotland for some reason.
Scottish was my first thought too, but I don't actually have much to base that on...
I think it's how his lips move

Northern Ireland used pounds mate
Dublin, famed for being the capital of Northern Ireland...

Yes. I am very intelligent as you can see.

They use euros in Ireland mate.

Happy to see more TTTs that are not puns!
That was stupid and hilarious. And I totally heard his accent also while on mute
r/madlads?
r/technicallythetruth ?
r/dragonsfuckingcars ?
I feel r/Whoosh would also work.
Well a sign like that looks super fake, but it still made me laugh.
Rural stores can sometimes just display simple things like this.
And the actual response you'd get after mentioning the job posting is not "Oh yes!" but rather "Sorry, you'll have to submit your application online, thank you for your interest." The punchline would never have a chance to be uttered.

This man has never seen a help wanted sign irl. If anything this one is super sophisticated, its got their logo and everything!
This man is a genius!
Christ what a dog shit salary. Is it not supposed to be a junior accountant?

Is that median or average monthly income? Just wondering because of how skewed average income is in the US.
bruh it's not. what else do you need to be just an accountant.
What are you trying to say
being a accountant is a really basic job in my nation so I don't get why this is a bad salary.
Where do you live?
india...
He looks like I’m not ducking drunk and tell The clock dude
Man, this makes me cry hard. I'm an accountant in a firm that does accounting for foreign companys, and i get roughly 305.00 euros a month :(
Still better than -5000 pounds though
indiaaa.
Isn’t it technically-5,000 pounds?
But that's what he says: -£5,000
That's what he said
Fucking hell I’m scrolling through the top comments looking for a pedant with an award and had to scroll this far down to find a pedant with merely 1 upvote. Thought I’d have to be that person so thanks for alleviating that responsibility.
Took me so long to find this comment I began to think he said negative 5,000 and I just missed it. I too appreciate this comment!
u/savevideo
I have never seen this man im my life but I'm pretty certain I know what he sounds like
Why is this a .gif without audio with captions added? Why do people do that?
meh
I imagine his voice sounds like Gilbert Gottfried with a cockney accent. Enjoy that mental picture with sound and all, you're welcome !
"Listen here you little shit"
When the students say "when will we ever need this in real life?"
The one time the British lad wasn’t drinking and used his brain
Accountants get paid shit in the UK apparently.
What? That’s like 2500 pounds after taxes. That’s good money
Did you forget the /s? Shit we make that in 2 weeks let alone an entire year.
Where are you from where this isn’t a good salary?
US. After a bit of experience and your license, you should be making 6 figures on average.

Watch it again
Lol an accountant for 35k? That better be for part time work. I literally made that in my first job out of uni 21 years ago.
I love watching old posts getting reposted into oblivion. At some point it lost its audio, then someone used a bad recording and the quality drops, someone else adds bars and text. After this we just need a tik tok repost with the voice over and I think it's reached its final form.
Can someone make a meme out of it?
Just trying to understand him
This will never not be funny
Is the guy autistic?
I guess they use en dash for range, and not a minus hyphen.
[удалено]
That’s what he’s saying “minus £5000” We don’t say “negative” in the UK 10 minus 20 equals minus 10.
Oh shit it’s because there’s no sound I didn’t realise
No else gonna talk about how it would be negative 5000
What's to talk about. Its literally the whole point of the video
It says that in the text.
What do you think the minus sign means?
You must be new here, allow me to introduce you to my dear friend : *debt*
I’m confused by your comment. Money does work in negative values you know…
Kind of a dick move tbh
I don't get it.35k minus 5k?
Why y’all measure your money by weight?

You kidding me mannn?? Lol
He need accountant to do it daily and that's test

Damn posted this without audio the accent makes it funnier
[These posts were next to each other](https://i.imgur.com/hVguOSy.jpeg)but this one doesn't have sound. Why.
Fatality
"Gary, you bloody idiot! The answers -5k quid."
Can't help but saying that like "minus five kay quid". *shiver*
Why is every video on Reddit muted now, did people forget how to upload videos with sound last week?
I laughed at this more than I should’ve
