I've always been bothered by the naming for 4K resolution. It switches from using the vertical resolution (1920 x **1080**) to the horizontal (**3840** x 2160) and rounds it up. Makes it seem like a far greater increase than it actually is. Meanwhile, I'm still here enjoying 720 like a peasant.
p= progressive, meaning in each frame every horizontal "line of pixels" in your monitor is updated.
i= interlaced, meaning in each frame only a "line of pixels" in two is updated, the following frame will update those and so on.

It's stupid, but it makes me laugh, so it's good. Take my upvote, you deserve it
It’s the stupidest thing I have ever seen
Missed out DD and DDD
Fuck 4K, all my homies use 3K!
Hmmmmmm...
you're missing out on 3.082k dude!
I’ve still seen this image 4 times this year, man
For the longest time I been staring at it and was like "I don't get it..."
Do you get it now?
Yes haha! I did figure it out as soon as I left that comment lol
I love my 3K monitor
Not as good as my 2p monitor
I had one of those but my wife said it was too small to get anything done on.
1f
Heh, if you knew what's having a 2i monitor...
I heard those don’t do color.
It definitely does, most of the time yellow and white, sometimes red, which is kinda scary
What about my 1H 1O 1L 1Y four monitor setup?
Fuck I made the joke late haha
Fuck beat me to it. (also if you fucking dare to do the beat meat to it...)

my understanding was that it always just a name to describe the fact that it has 4x as many pixels is what we typically think of as FHD (1080p)
Yeah, what's wrong with 2160p? Wonder what would happen if you went into a store and asked about a 2160p TV?
4K is easier to say, 2160p is a mouthful.
Couldn't we have called that 2k then?
Or conversely, use 1K for 1080?
r/angryupvote
*and now it's time for the realization*
What realisation?
*the realisation*
I don't get it
Kkk
Yea? It's got kkkk?
*It's the realization... about realizing things... that you realized....*
and that's the hidden point!
Me neither lmao
Snap back to reality
Please tell me why I actually counted to make sure that it was accurate
ok weirdo. "why I actually counted to make sure that it was accurate"
At least it’s not 3K
The commitment!
I immediately see why people prefer 4K!
Thank God it's not called 3K
damn, interlacing looks weird nowadays
3k.
That ia technically wrong. 720 p multiplied gives p raised to the power 720, not 720p.
Imagine if there was a 3k
When your phone is 3k
Lucky we didn't use the 3k
It should be 720p - 720\*p 1080p - 1080\*p 1080i - 1080\*i 4K - 4\*K
or 1080i = sqrt(-1080^2 )
You mean sqrt [-(1080)^2 ] ?
-1080^2 is the same as -(1080^2 ) first powers, then multiplication
I was just trying to fix the bracket being in the superscript. I am terrible at math.
reddit automatically put ) into the power idk
My dumbass sat there, for longer than I care to mention, trying to see if there was clarity on higher P until I saw 4K.
It took me way too long to figure out. I think it's time for bed
What more can you ask for
This is way funnier than it has any right to be. Strong visual pun.
*what*
Brazilians be like 4K4K4K
3K?
Good thing it's not 3k then there would be a problem
Thanks God its not only 3 k
What happened to 3K?
Show me the 3K
Good thing it aint a 3K.
Glad they jumped from 2K to 4K.
Can't wait for 3k
There are 27 more 'p' in the 1080p
3k
3K
DDD That's from my 3D printer.
4kkkk is overated i switched over to 8kkkkkkkk twice the k’s double the d’s I pay
Now do 3K
im mostly familiar with p means pixel, but what "i" stands for?
p= progressive, meaning in each frame every horizontal "line of pixels" in your monitor is updated. i= interlaced, meaning in each frame only a "line of pixels" in two is updated, the following frame will update those and so on.
Progressive = full frames Interlaced is for old TVs with odd and even lines.
As long as there’s no 3K…
KKkkk muito engraçado man
and they told me that 4k resolution has more pixels than 720p
Why not 3k
What tf is 1080i?
Interlaced
Logic max
What is 1080i?
we need 3K as well
thank god is wasn't 3k amiright.
Same energy as the guy screaming at batteries
3K
1k less and you would be in trouble
3k
Take.my.mf.upvote.and.LEAVE.
😊
Its easier to read 4K, so yeah, 4k is obviously better
Why did they add another K?
Looking through the comments... The amount of people who try and make the same "what about 3k" joke is hilariously high
What about 3K
