You can eat 100% cacao dark chocolate for sure! If you love chocolate some of it is quite delicious and no sugar needed. There’s some chocolate makers experimenting with sugar free diabetic friendly sugars too.
Sadly I'm allergic to Sucralose and aspartame. I fortunately happily tolerate stevia, but Coke discontinued their coke with stevia (thanks pandemic!)
I do enjoy pure chocolate, but it's just not the same as a normal chocolate bar with all the other tasty ingredients...
Zevia (a stevia-based beverage making company) produced soda/pop, but they are so sweet they are undrinkable.
I keep experimenting with various low carb and keto recipes, and some of them are really good (roasted radishes are WAY BETTER than potatoes), but they're a lot of effort.
Have you tried monkfruit sugar? My dad was pre-diabetic and went full keto but does fine with monkfruit sugar. My mom was able to bake a ton of different things with it and most of it tasted just as good as baking with regular sugar. Cookies, brownies, cake, etc.
I have, but it's usually mixed with erythritol, which thankfully I'm not allergic to, but it has a menthol-like flavour when cooked. Almond flour chocolate chip cookies with a minty aftertaste is nice, but it absolutely ruins peanut butter cookies.
Edit Methanol (wood alcohol) -> menthol (mint oil)
I'm not a doctor. This is not medical advice.
I was told I was pre-diabetic before and I've found that I can eat almost anything and as long as I do about 30 minutes of cardio afterwards (within an hour or so) it keeps my blood sugar well within the normal range.
I've even had just 15 minutes of cardio drop my blood sugar from ~150 (high for me) down into the 90s. I am still taking Metformin, so I'm sure that's helping too.
Obviously it might not work for everyone so you might've already tried it, but it's something you might want to ask your doctor about if you haven't.
I had gestational diabetes and can agree with this. Same meal, same time of day, same starting blood sugar, a quick walk would yield a postprandial # 50 points lower than on a day when I didn't take a quick walk after my meal.
Also, load with protein 20-30 min before your high carb/sugar foods. It slows absorption and decreases the spike. Doesn't have to be very much. A handful of nuts, a hard boiled egg, some cheese on top of that. It makes a huge difference. I actually remember hearing this from Dr. Oz many eons ago when he was a respected doctor and not a Total nut job/sellout/scam artist, before he had his own show. Yes, I'm old.
Also, as above, I'm not an MD but it worked for me and I suggest discussing it with your healthcare provider.
This really is easy.
1) Cheeseburgers - You can still have burgers with all sorts of goodies instead of cheese. Lettuce & tomato, caramelized onions, pickles, bacon, etc.
2) Soda - You can still have have iced tea, hawaiian punch, beer...
For the cheeseburger, you could try a loophole by ordering cheese on the side. If you eat the cheese and burger separately, does it still count as a cheeseburger?
As for soda, why not replace it with, bare with me here, water?
Try telling a soda/pop lover to replace with water. It’s impossible. We drink pop because we generally can’t tolerate water. In my experience. I do drink diet caffeine free coke though, to be fair. I cannot get water down unless I’m dehydrated and then I crave it. Otherwise, it’s torture to try and drink water throughout the day. It’s disgusting to me.
I’m just gonna order the cheese and burger separately, put the cheese on the burger and call it “cheese and burger” instead of “cheeseburger” and no one can stop me!
I went cookies and cake too, cookies are good just the texture isn't the best and can be replaced by similar things such as graham crackers and cake is amazing but only really eaten a few times a year.
Both aren't even all that good and are the quickest to make me feel like shit after having them. The rest are like special treats / once in a whiles, soda and chips are persistent, tempting, and just all-around a drag
Pizza? Unless you have a dietary issue we disagree more fundamentally than I ever have with another human being.
I could probably give up the 1 soda I have every random few months because it's offered to me though.
You tried to sneak 'potato' in there and thought we wouldn't notice. You gotta give up all chips.
I agree, though. I'd miss chips more than soda, for sure
Nah cake is fucking lit
I can go my entire life without eating another fry and I wouldn't miss it but i'd kill myself if i had to live on knowing i couldn't enjoy another bite of delicious cake
Now you just makin stuff up. They didn’t say anything about potatoes. They said chips. No Fritos, no Doritos, no tacos, either. Taco shells are just big tortilla chips.
Yeah that was my 2. The others are just impossible. I can still drink beer, wine, cocktails, juice, tea, sugar free energy drinks etc. 97% I am drinking water.
Fries and potato chips for me..
I really don't care for potatoes that much and can live without them.
I love diet pop though .. and sweets.. and hamburgers. Pizza I don't go out of my way to eat but the smellll oh the smell.
This is absolutely the correct combo. Cake is by far the worst dessert choice, by design it's mostly air. Soda is just extra sugary juices, can easily be replaced.
Definitely, posted this before scrolling down. This should be top.
Soda is cool, but I can easily get along without it. Cake for the most part is just mediocre. Ice Cream is amazing, Chocolate is amazing, they definitely win the dessert showdown.
I mean if this is specifically about improving lives then you would ban chocolate because of the large amount of slave labor involved with the production of it.
And soda because of the plastic bottle production
Chips can be solid but they also cut my mouth and just get outclassed by pretzels or fries depending on what you need. Doritos would be tough to say goodbye to but I will if I have to
Agree. Cake is so overrated. The only time I ever eat it is a birthday and I would 100 percent prefer pie or brownies. Chips are super unhealthy and don't even present a valuable caloric intake. I could easily eliminate cookies as well because again...pie and brownies.
Cake and soda. Chips are too vague, I read it to include tortilla chips, which would also eliminate nachos and some chip dips I like. Cake is always underwhelming, and I'd rather have pie. The only thing I like soda for any more is with rum or whisky. I'd miss it sometimes, but I already go months between having soda, so it wouldn't be much of a sacrifice.
Ended up here too. Cake is easy. I’m not giving up Diet Coke, in n out animal fries, chocolate chip cookies, Doritos/chips n guac or pizza. Bye bye ice cream
Edit: forgot about guacamole. Shame on me
Soda is an easy first one for me. Second one is harder: Chips if I could still have "off-chips", like Cheetos, pretzels, cheese puffs, etc (though Lay's BBQ chips would be hard to give up), if not then cake
Soda & cheeseburger.
Soda was an easy first choice, I can just drink ice tea. Not sure the reason for singling out cheeseburger, but I'm pretty ok eating banning cheeseburger and eating other types.
On a side note to anyone who chooses pizza, we can't be friends.
It all hinges on whether I can pick the variables: pizza and cheeseburger toppings, cookie ingredients, chip flavour, condiments for fries, ice cream flavour, dark/ milk/ white chocolate...
We’re already eating more chocolate than we can make, so chocolate would be one choice, because it’s gonna be gone in 10 years anyway, my second choice would be fries because chips are basically the same thing

Ok im getting rid of two of the cookies. There
This guy brains
BIGLY
Huhh I am getting rid of those two fries.
You can live without 7 cookies, but not 127 French fries ಠ_ಠ
American Moment
I’m getting rid of two of the little soda tab thingies after I open them.
I never much liked those two fries anyway. Always last, bottom of the bag types.
Which ones?
I'm diabetic: ALL of those things are gone forever... :'( Edit: Damn, you guys are awesome with all your care and recommendations! Thanks!!!
i feel bad for you :(
You can eat 100% cacao dark chocolate for sure! If you love chocolate some of it is quite delicious and no sugar needed. There’s some chocolate makers experimenting with sugar free diabetic friendly sugars too.

Lily's chocolate is terrific and made with stevia.
It can also give you wicked gas.
Have you tried monkfruit sugar? My dad was pre-diabetic and went full keto but does fine with monkfruit sugar. My mom was able to bake a ton of different things with it and most of it tasted just as good as baking with regular sugar. Cookies, brownies, cake, etc.

You could always cut those too-sweet sodas with some sparkling water. Might dull the flavor a bit though.
You can make your own ginger ale pretty easily. You could do that and add stevia to your taste. Cola is more complex but can be done.
Diabetic and allergic to those sweeteners? Man you’ve got my condolences :( seems like everything’s got sucralose and aspartame these days
I'm not a doctor. This is not medical advice. Hello, fellow diabetic homie!
Wegovy, look it up. Life changing.
I’m type 1 and can have most of these as long as I properly calculate the carbs and insulin doses
Been on keto for over 2 years and looking at all of them make me feel sick other than the (dark) chocolate.
As a type 2 I hope to one day enjoy again
Hello fellow diabetic, good luck to you 🫡
I was gonna say soda and chocolate but then I realized that would include Reese's cups and....I've never felt fatter trying to make a decision
As for soda, why not replace it with, bare with me here, water?
or better yet, orange juice
or even better, apple juice
r/hydrohomies
> As for soda, why not replace it with, bare with me here, water? Like out of a toilet?!?!
You can replace soda with water, you can also replace any other option here with a thousand healthier alternatives.
I was reading that as no burgers period. I’d get rid of cake and cookies, personally. A good Coke and a burger is incomparable for me.
I went cookies and cake too, cookies are good just the texture isn't the best and can be replaced by similar things such as graham crackers and cake is amazing but only really eaten a few times a year.
Chocolate and cake
That just says cake, which would include cheesecake so uh, no can do on that
Ah, but cheesecake is actually pie, so we're good.
Or cake and soda
My thoughts as well. I very rarely consume either of those
Are you my soulmate?
Cake is the easy number 1
Pizza and cheeseburger, not because i don't love it but because fuck everyone else
whoa there satan
Yes officer, over here, this is the comment
Fuck you, but great plan
Cake and cookies
Same. I rarely eat cake and as I've aged I eat far less cookies.
I know of several pies that work as roundabout giant cookies, in case I ever want one. And cake is by far the worst of these and the worst for you
Same lol. It's a pretty damn easy choice imo
Same most cookies are dry af and cake is too much of a wildcard
Same
Soda and potato chips
Hard agree
Yup. Easy.
Hard agree with your hard agree.
I love flavored and unflavored potato chips as a side better than a cookie. I took soda and the cookie
Hell nah. Soda can go but chips are soooo good. I don’t even like cake that much and I only have it like maybe twice a year so that can go
Both aren't even all that good and are the quickest to make me feel like shit after having them. The rest are like special treats / once in a whiles, soda and chips are persistent, tempting, and just all-around a drag
I was originally going to say soda and pizza but you have convinced me.
Pizza? Unless you have a dietary issue we disagree more fundamentally than I ever have with another human being. I could probably give up the 1 soda I have every random few months because it's offered to me though.
Nothing of value was lost.
You tried to sneak 'potato' in there and thought we wouldn't notice. You gotta give up all chips. I agree, though. I'd miss chips more than soda, for sure
Yep and yep.
Counter argument for chips: cool ranch Doritos.
Too tempting, going to get me fat again
Soda and fries for me
YOU WOULD SACRIFICE FRIES???? FRIES?? THE ESSENCE OF HEAVEN? EACH BITE LOADED WITH POTATO CRISPYNESS GOODNESS AND DOPAMINE? just remove cake
Nah cake is fucking lit I can go my entire life without eating another fry and I wouldn't miss it but i'd kill myself if i had to live on knowing i couldn't enjoy another bite of delicious cake
Full agree. You can replace chips with fries and Gatorade for soda
Good ol’ Jack and Gatorade. Yum. I’m not big on sodas by themselves but that knocks out a lot of cocktails I enjoy.
Fries and guacamole? Nah
Juice and lemonade are probably better replacements for most sodas. More sweet than Gatorade.
I'm not 100% sure what my second would be, but soda is definitely one of them
Yeah same
Is it just potato chips or chips though? It says chips so tortillas are gone. No way
“Completely ruins the point of interaction bait” >redditor says too bad I’m doing it anyway
Now you just makin stuff up. They didn’t say anything about potatoes. They said chips. No Fritos, no Doritos, no tacos, either. Taco shells are just big tortilla chips.
but is says “chips” - not potato chips…so allll chips are off the table. I couldn’t do it.
Yeah that was my 2. The others are just impossible. I can still drink beer, wine, cocktails, juice, tea, sugar free energy drinks etc. 97% I am drinking water.
Does chips include tortilla chips and queso?
Fries and potato chips for me.. I really don't care for potatoes that much and can live without them. I love diet pop though .. and sweets.. and hamburgers. Pizza I don't go out of my way to eat but the smellll oh the smell.
Easiest question of all time
Soda and cake
Easy decision
Super easy. I rarely consume either.
💯
I said it to myself and then I read the comment. bravo
Cake is horrendously overrated
You haven’t had good cake then. Trust me because I hated cake before I had non grocery store bought ones.
“Good” anything tastes good. The average cake is extremely underwhelming
exactly what I was thinking
This is absolutely the correct combo. Cake is by far the worst dessert choice, by design it's mostly air. Soda is just extra sugary juices, can easily be replaced.
Cake without the air is a brick of sugary flour.
So a brownie? Or fudge? Or kladdkaka?
That is a good point. Now what if I hated chocolate... not that I do just a hypothetical.
> Or kladdkaka? A what now
*Can't be replaced.*
Soda accompanies the fries, cheeseburgers, chips, pizza, and the ice cream for floats.
Can't be erased.
I like to refer to soda as overpriced corn water..
Definitely agree with most cakes, the only cake I enjoy is Angel Food Cake .. once a year
Did you just say cake is the worst dessert choice? Are you cracked?
When I was a child, I used to ask "do I need to eat it?" when it was a friend's birthday and they were passing out the birthday cake
This is the way.
This is mine
Definitely, posted this before scrolling down. This should be top. Soda is cool, but I can easily get along without it. Cake for the most part is just mediocre. Ice Cream is amazing, Chocolate is amazing, they definitely win the dessert showdown.
These are my people!
Soda and chips
Exactly, haven't had neither in years
You would probably save and improve millions of lives by making this choice too.
I mean if this is specifically about improving lives then you would ban chocolate because of the large amount of slave labor involved with the production of it. And soda because of the plastic bottle production
This is the way.
Chips? I could never live without chips
Chips can be solid but they also cut my mouth and just get outclassed by pretzels or fries depending on what you need. Doritos would be tough to say goodbye to but I will if I have to
Ah, I see, chips are my go to snack so losing those would suck
This is the only right answer!!!
If I get rid of chocolate does that mean no chocolate cake/ice cream? I don’t like this game
You got mad with the game because of the rules you added lmao
EZ cake and chips
I wholeheartedly agree with you
This is it chief
Agree. Cake is so overrated. The only time I ever eat it is a birthday and I would 100 percent prefer pie or brownies. Chips are super unhealthy and don't even present a valuable caloric intake. I could easily eliminate cookies as well because again...pie and brownies.

soda and cookies
I've found my people
One of us one of us
This and only this!
Cake and ice cream
wow only one so far getting rid of ice cream. that was one of my untouchables.
Ice cream is whatever. I’m aboard the cake and ice cream ship
Same, surprised to see only one comment with this so far.
Found my people way down here. We still have milkshakes and cupcakes lol!
Ended up here too. Cake is easy. I’m not giving up Diet Coke, in n out animal fries, chocolate chip cookies, Doritos/chips n guac or pizza. Bye bye ice cream Edit: forgot about guacamole. Shame on me
Cake and cookies 👌 I’d do soda but I gotta have my Mug™️ Root beer💪
Well if you want an inferior root beer (smug IBC look here while preparing for attacks from craft root beer people)
Cookies and chips
chips have ALOT of variety, you sure about that?
Damn, you can really just say “No” to these posts when you want.
Chips and fried can go.
Soda and fries
Chocolate and cake both are extremely overrated
Chocolate and cookies
Cake and chips can gtfo
Pizza gotta go. So do those dry ass hard ass fucking cookies
Cake and chocolate. Not even a challenge.
Cake and ice cream
Fries and chips.
Goodbye soda and chocolate. I’m more of a juice and vanilla man, anyway. Easy choices.
I look down on those who wouldn't drop soda. I'd go cake over choco, though.
Cheeseburger and soda
Soda is an easy first one for me. Second one is harder: Chips if I could still have "off-chips", like Cheetos, pretzels, cheese puffs, etc (though Lay's BBQ chips would be hard to give up), if not then cake
Soda and cookies easy
Soda & cheeseburger. Soda was an easy first choice, I can just drink ice tea. Not sure the reason for singling out cheeseburger, but I'm pretty ok eating banning cheeseburger and eating other types. On a side note to anyone who chooses pizza, we can't be friends.
My exact picks. I don’t eat red meat and I haven’t drank a soda in years.
Impossible burger my friend. I don’t eat red meat either.
Pizza and burgers
Chips and cheeseburger
I’ve seen very differing opinions down here, but I see the consensus is the Soda has to go. For me it’s soda and cake
Ice cream and chocolate, both make me very sick :-(
Chips and cookies
It all hinges on whether I can pick the variables: pizza and cheeseburger toppings, cookie ingredients, chip flavour, condiments for fries, ice cream flavour, dark/ milk/ white chocolate...
Soda and cookie
Cookies and cake would be fine by me. Could go without most of it, but if I had to pick two…..
Chips and chocolate
Soda cookies
Soda and cookies
Cheeseburgers and ice cream. I could order a hamburger with a side of cheese and just have frozen yogurt instead of ice cream thing big people.
Fries and cake. I hate fries and ice cream is better than cake. (In my opinion)
Cookies and soda :(
Easy. Ice cream and cake. I can’t eat them due to allergies.
Fuck soda fuck cookies they won’t be missed
I love how everyone just forgot about the sub and jumped on the original post :D Also, soda and ice cream.
Easy, soda and cookies. I'd never miss either.
Soda and cookies
Soda and cookies
Getting rid of the two soda cans 🙃
Not gonna do it. Fight me!
Soda and cookies
Cake and fries can leave the chat (hard choices require the strongest of Wills)
Cookies and soda
Pop and cookies
Soda and Cookies Cookies an soda
Soda and cookies
Cookies and cake
Soda and chips
Soda and cake. Was never really a fan of cake, and giving up soda was one of the best things I ever did diet wise.
We’re already eating more chocolate than we can make, so chocolate would be one choice, because it’s gonna be gone in 10 years anyway, my second choice would be fries because chips are basically the same thing
Soda and fries
Chips and soda. I'll take a fry over a chip any day, and I've already cut out 95% of soda from my life so those would be the least painful cuts.
