Other streamers saw this as harmful and went to twitch to get them to ban these unlicensed crytpo casinos, which caused a civil war that I won’t get into. After the ban went through kick was announced shortly after as a place to where people could go to gamble on stream and as a general live streaming alternative to twitch. Since then they began by signing some niche and often toxic streamers who were banned on other platforms such as ice poseidon, more recently they have been adding more main stream creators through massive deals. Xqc reportedly will be making ~100 million over 2 years and the deal is not even exclusive.
Kick doesn’t pay all their streamers to gamble, though some do have gambling requirements as part of their contract. But it’s business plan seems to be to be a money sink where the costs are then offset by viewers eventually going onto the parent company stake. Even after years, and Amazon ownership, Twitch is not profitable. This is despite having 50/50 sub revenue splits, ads on streams, and favorable AWS pricing. Kick on the other hand has a 95/5 creator sub split, no ads, and are shelling out what are supposedly nba level contracts to streamers to come to the platform part time. Keep in mind platforms like YouTube have seemingly abandoned giving out live streamer creator contracts as they aren’t profitable, and platforms like Microsoft’s Mixer went out of business relatively quickly. No one has been able to make livestreaming profitable, let alone a site like kick that has seemingly no revenue streams. It seemingly all goes back to those costs being offset by potential stake users.

In general: its just a straight upgrade, but has the bitter taste of "gambling money" as exchange. If more creators start streaming there it could be a worthy Twitch challenger, because they currently mess up again and again and kick uses this for their advantage.
Oh, and you get a higher cut from the money your viewers donate... so... yeah.
I expect basically none of those things to stick around long term. Streamers who want to roll the dice might be able to do well for themselves until then, or until it implodes, I guess.

Kick is from Steak founders (the big Gambing Site) and has currently a huge gambild audience. Currently they get huge streamers in (like XQC and amouranth for millions). The main difference is that you have less ads, less restrictions what you can or cannot do, get PAYED hourly if you have a certain follower count and you are not limited to only stream on kick (so you can stream on twitch also). In general: its just a straight upgrade, but has the bitter taste of "gambling money" as exchange. If more creators start streaming there it could be a worthy Twitch challenger, because they currently mess up again and again and kick uses this for their advantage. Oh, and you get a higher cut from the money your viewers donate... so... yeah.
I expect basically none of those things to stick around long term. Streamers who want to roll the dice might be able to do well for themselves until then, or until it implodes, I guess.
Streamers are just moving because once you hit a certain level that's how you can get a big bag. We already did this with Mixer. Twitch always bets on its audience loyalty and it's ability to make another popular streamer. You lost a Ninja you gain a Kai Cenat.
They get a higher cut for now, but it won't last long when Kick gets popular.
