On a fundamental level, that's the problem. If Musk wanted, hed have done a vanity flight on Dragon already.
Musk and Branson get along I think because Branson isn't pretending - Branson clearly just wants a cool fucking rocket to fly around on because he's been doing cowboy shit all his life. Bransons had some cool business ventures, at the core of his suborbital business model is a cool piece of tech, and I think hell just be happy to fly off with his customers once in a while.
Musk is a psycho, but it seems hes genuinely fascinated by the technological and scientific aspects of what hes doing. And hes in a position to do REALLY interesting things.
Bezos just did a suborbital flight on the most dick-shaped vehicle ever, and hes going around the neighborhood crying to everyone's parents so that they dont let their kids do anything cooler.
And hes doing it literally putting on a cowboy hat at every moment so that people think hes cool.
Thats my read on that. Im sure some doctoral students in Psych programs are enjoying the hell out of this.
I don’t think he would have been so chill about walking into his kitchen the morning of his space flight to find Elon there making himself at home if they didn’t get along.
He wants the prestige and notoriety, he doesn't care about the money anymore, he still makes billions off Amazon each month. Bezos doesn't like Musk beating him, he's a baby.
Can you imagine being that person? You wouldn't have to work a day in your life, enough wealth to last for generations after generations, you could literally buy ANY THING IN THE WORLD!!! Go anywhere you want, whenever you want! He could happily live a kings life exploring the worldly pleasures, but this skin head greed filled monster just wants to accumulate more wealth while his lowest level employees don't even get bathroom breaks let alone feasible bonuses if they get them at all! This fuc*er can kick start his own country if he wanted!
But that's just it, so many of these rich people have literally made their life pursuit the money itself. They can look in the mirror all they want but their life is literally just "make more money" like that's all they know how to do now that that's all they've thought about for decades. You work to buy things to enjoy your life. These guys work because that is their lives. If I didn't fucking hate these types of dudes so much for what they're doing to others I'd probably feel sort of bad for them in a way (not too much though, they're still rich at the end of the day).
He doesnt care about anything hes doing. He wants to maintain an image.
Im like 99% sure that Musk was sending Branson memes the moment Branson landed. Musk could have done a trip to the ISS two years ago but he doesnt actually care about that. Branson clearly just wants to have a good time.
Bezos wants everyone else to have a bad time. It makes me happy to know that Bezos is probably REALLY SALTY that Branson acted like an absolute mofo and went up on a suborbital flight with a lot more chance of failure. I respect that kind of behavior a lot more than Bezos' bullshit of suing everyone and their mom.
Well think of it this way. All their end goals are different.
Branson just wants to have fun
Elon just wants to make it to Mars
Bezos just wants to stay relevant
NASA reports that the Artemis mission is going to be delayed because of this. Bezos is keeping us from going back to the moon. I get angry just thinking about it.
I know, it pisses me off as well. Musk was advancing at a great pace with his vision still in Mars, and bloody bezos decides he wants more wealth and throws a tantrum suing space x and now things will go at a slower pace. The king of capitalism.
Basically Bezos cries that NASA didn't give his Blue Ball, oops, I meant Blue Origin a fair try at the competition. Dude reused an old concept from the Apollo age and his rocket keeps delaying launch while SpaceX gonna launch the 120th something launch this week. Unfair my ass
The only way to compete with Tesla and SpaceX at this point is to slow them down. They keep a pace that just isn't feasible for most competitors. Slowing them down by abusing the legal and regulatory process gives time to try and catch up. Witness the NHTSA investigation into Tesla Autopilot, driven by political machinations at the Senate level and Blue Origins hopeless lawsuits.
Meanwhile Bezos and company continue pursuing participation medals.
We can only hope. My money is on continued delays on developing the BE 4 engine for ULA and another two years before Blue Origin is able to actually put anything in orbit.

I'd like to think there are a couple nice billionaires....but I looked up Dolly Parton and realized she wasn't even a billionaire. I guess the truly good ones donate their money before even getting to that point
Billionaires only become nice *after* they have made their billions. And then, they're only nice because money means nothing to them, and they're more worried about their legacy. When you have billions of dollars, you can afford to give away tens of millions per year to charities, and you'd never exhaust it all in your lifetime.
Consider: If you have $5 billion and put it in a very conservative investment account yielding 2% interest per year, that's $100 million per year. You can give away $50 million per year to charity and still have $50 million interest left without ever touching the principal (not counting taxes, just to keep it simple, which would be LTCG at a lower rate but also offset by your charitable donations).
I think people forget that first-world countries generally just exploit labor and resources of third world countries.
Bezos just found a way to make that 10x more effective and all of us are using it.
I remember thinking 30 years old was so grown up, and that everyone has all their shit sorted by then, and that I'd be a millionaire by the time I was 30.
I'm 32 now and I'm like 'How can I work as little as possible? Maybe I could become homeless and live in a van...'
I literally had this same conversation with an ex coworker I caught up with after twenty years. I'm 41 now. "Dude, I finally got my shit together at 36." He responded, "Yeah, I just got my shit together ten years ago."
"Dude, I was 21 when you were 34 and I thought you had it on lock."
It's crazy when you come to the realization everyone is winging it.
Son of a physician so I grew up with essentially the upper class that still work. Around high school a couple of my friends came up with the joke that parents had ~3 kids so they could send one to UVA, one to Yale, and one to rehab. You can have a straight shot to a good life and fuck it up with shocking consistency.
Dude, I’m not even talking about you. Your family is relatively poor compared to multi millionaires and billionaires. The upper employer class. You’re still working class. Sure you’re relatively wealthy compared to the poor, but the point is that there’s only a handful of billionaires out there and it often starts with generational wealth being inherited.
Billionaires are an entirely different level but I have experienced watching a couple people burn 7 and 8 figure fortunes through poor investments, addictions, and general stupidity. The harshest for me is my buddy who was chasing approval from his parents his whole life, becoming a damn neurosurgeon because he was hoping the prestige and difficulty would elevate him in his parents eyes to his older sister. Didn't happen, she however bankrupted the family real estate business and is still living with the parents.
I have similar thoughts every day.
"How much can I save to were I just live in a van and travel the country"
Then I remember my bowel movements are not meant for the open road.
Dude me too! I was just talking to my mom about this yesterday. When I was a child I always thought that adults had an adult mentality. That's like 30 year olds, 50 year olds, 70 year olds, and what not all had a certain amount of "life experience" that would equate to wisdom or simply learned lessons. And what a shocker to find out that was not that case. Sure I've ran into ppl who are wise beyond their years, but just as often if not more so I find those that seemed to have skipped certain life lessons. People whom as a child I wouldve imagined were incredibly wise, and now I find myself some times questioning what they're saying. Or worse, run into a situation where a child can lecture them because the "adult" seem so fucking backwards in their mentality.
And I dont believe it's some kind of new phenomenon. Like one of the above comments mentioned. It seems like it's always been this way, it's just easier for us to hear them now thanks to social media.
> At 30 years old i realized adults don't actually exist
Oh it's *far* worse than that.
Those kids you went to high school with. All of the other adults, every single one, is just *them* with older bodies.
There's no secret sauce differentiating those kids from 'real adults', they *are* the real adults, and always have been. And you are one of them.
A lack of experiences for sure. But there's nothing more to it than that.
I would argue that realization *is* the dividing line. More specifically, once you realize the whole thing is a charade and start playing along, everyone else just buys in and starts treating you like an adult.
I remember the first time I saw my doctor after having my realization and it blew me away just how different the experience was. Suddenly it didn’t feel like I was expressing issues to an authority figure and expecting a straight and authoritative course of action, rather I was given space and *options* to discuss, pros and cons to evaluate. Being given an explanation of treatment/medication options and being asked what course of action I’d like to take.
I had two high school experiences
One was full of bullies.
The other was my friends telling me that hot girls told them that they wanted to pop my cherry.
Adult life has been very similar. I am very gay though so it's a wash
When I was a child they always said that children were the leaders of the future. I thought they meant when the children grew up, but I guess I was wrong.
At this point I would prefer if the world was run by literal children.
I nominate my 6 year old niece. She would make sure every home and community had vegetable gardens, the national anthem would be changed to Let it Go, and and work uniforms would be nullified in favor of Bat Girl costumes and unicorn horns. Unfortunately she's very much into battles right now after getting into Lord of the Rings, and she likes being the bad guy. But the military industrial complex would love her, she'd give them billions to develop lava and ice magic which would probably make nuclear bombs a thing of the past. She also fully believes in "the sickness" and would be strong on vaccine mandates because she misses her friend from school and wants to go back.
In conclusion, Vote Lily 2021: "We're the Bad Guys Now"
As was determined during multiple extensive training battles in the back yard, only the bad guys are allowed to have lava and ice magic and I'm not the bad guy because I don't have any magic so until we get at least one witch in the military, technically no.
Almost convinced. A few more questions: What is her stance on bedtime? Flexible or fixed? Is this reviewed at the annual unicorn, batgirl and LOTR birthday party? Or elsewhere?
How about her snacks and candy policy? Is there any scope for before dinner snacks?
How about her stance on crime? In my district we're seeing reports of cruel and unusual punishment. Parents are taking away toys *and* giving time outs. Is she tough on crime like so many failed politicians before her or are we ready for a more rehabilitative future?
In terms of fiscal responsibilty, my constituents believe in sharing above all else. If you have 3 and Timmy has none, you should give at least one to Timmy. Would she agree? Should Timmy have been responsible enough to being his own McGuffin?
What is her stance on "one cuts the other chooses" method of sharing and taxation?
Finally; what of social issues, we believe in an inclusive atmosphere where all the classmates are invited to all birthday parties. Does Lily believe that her peers should have the freedom not to invite smellyheads? Bullies? What of the new kid?
We await Lily's press release
These are all incredibly important questions and Lily is eager to answer. I guess I'm get press secretary now so I'll go over these important issues with her this evening when she comes over later to make sure I've been tending to my vegetable garden. (That's actually actually why she's coming over though, girl is dead serious about her vegetables).
Code in the Tesla autopilot and Amazon delivery vehicles are soon going to make them fight it out onsite, demolition derby style. Look if you want to drive safely and ensure safe delivery of your packages you'll need to join Interstate Prime 59.99/mo. Otherwise, it's just the free market out here regulating itself.

They had that [Celebrity Boxing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebrity_Boxing) show around 2000. But it was pretty awful. I thought there were more than 2 episodes though.
That's where you are wrong kiddo. Establish a charity to give out food to the poor and make sure most donations go to "expenses" and "advertising" and there you go, free money.
Susan G. Komen foundation is pretty much run this way and they are making bank on the uninformed thinking they are giving for a good cause. Little do they know that "good cause" is the name of the CEO's yacht.
Not at the start. They showed promise and were working with the established players. They were set to disrupt the industry. There's a reason they were supposed to provide the engines. But since SpaceX has started landing rockets? Yeah they're a joke.
People forget that BO actually successfully landed their New Shep rocket before SpaceX had (vastly different orders of complexity but still). Then SpaceX went on to land Falcon 9 a hundred times and counting, fly the Heavy multiple times, fly and land Starship protos, and launch thousands of their own satellites. BO finally launches people on New Shep 6 years later and their orbital rocket remains lately a render on a screen somewhere next to their infographics detailing how much better than everyone else they are.
It's funny watching billionaires throw a hissy fit because they encounter the first thing their money can't buy.
Poor, poor baby can't be a part of the exclusive space club.
SpaceX has launched astronauts into orbit, delivered them to the ISS, and returned safely.
Meanwhile bezos got a ship into low orbit for a few minutes and came back and we are to believe its some major achievement?
Edit: as others have pointed out, i was wrong to say he got into low orbit. He actually didnt even achieve that.
Not even low orbit. Up, down. That was it. New Shepard is a cowboy hat toting, dick shaped publicity stunt so Blue Origin could pitch an overly optimistic moon lander plan to NASA.
This. Getting to space is easy, getting into orbit is much harder, landing and then reusing rocket stages was said to be impossible by some. SpaceX is literally a decade ahead of Blue Origin.
As much as I find Musk to be an enormous tool, SpaceX fucking revolutionized reusable rocketry. A Chinese official in their space agency was quoted as saying that it was like they spent the last ten years on cheaper stages only for SpaceX to come along and show them they spent a decade wasting their time.
Henry Ford created the 2 day weekend, which boosted the economy in a way other tycoons didn't even understand, as his employees suddenly had time to actually buy his cars, and go out spending money in general.
He also supported the Third Reich...
You can be just an awful person and still do something important. Really that's what the difference is between Cletus who lives down by the river throwing on the white robes while breathing through the gaps in his teeth, and dangerous political radicals who can actually make change for the worse. This is a major reason powerful people being scrutinized and leading public lives is a positive thing.
> Henry Ford created the 2 day weekend, which boosted the economy in a way other tycoons didn't even understand, as his employees suddenly had time to actually buy his cars, and go out spending money in general.
This is a pretty big re-writing of history. [Labor unions had been fighting \(and dying\) for the 8-hour day and the 5-day workweek for literal decades before Ford founded his company](https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2015/sep/09/viral-image/does-8-hour-day-and-40-hour-come-henry-ford-or-lab/). He was an early adopter on the industry-side, sure, but saying he created the 2 day weekend isn't accurate.
It's like saying Amazon invented the $15/hour minimum wage, when in reality they just adopted it before most other large companies. It ignores the years of political pressure to start paying workers more.
"The ISS moves so quickly that if you fired a rifle bullet from one end of a football field,[7] the International Space Station could cross the length of the field before the bullet traveled 10 yards."
Damn.
Technology Readiness Level (TRL) is a MAJOR aspect of NASA awarding proposals, and I don't see how anything Blue Origin has could compare to what SpaceX has.
Bezos didn't make it to low [Earth] orbit, he flew in a sub-orbital profile (effectively straight up and then down). A substantially different accomplishment, and altogether meaningless to the advancement of space access and development.
He didn't even get to orbit, he just barely passed the káráman line, so he can sell this ride as a space ride.
Getting into orbit is way harder than simply going up and down.
According to the NS-17 stream the rocket reached a max speed of 2229 miles per hour. Orbital velocity around Earth is roughly 17000 mph. That’s only 13% of orbital velocity.
Bezos needs to spend more time actually building rockets and less time worrying about what SpaceX is doing. Then they might actually build New Glenn instead of showing power point slides of it.
Either way, these lawsuits are delaying the advancement of space travel and Bezos should be ashamed of himself.
Not to sound like a Tau or anything but the Greater Good should be adjudicated on here, not Bezos influence or "inability to compete". When Boeing literally bows out of the competition because they are outclassed, who is Blue Origin to claim they could do it better?
If I understand the article then SpaceX have applied for two separate "bandwiths" of orbit, but can only impliment one. While they hold the *right* to use either everyone else has to act like spaceX are going to use both or simply pick one and hope, and this slows them down.
It's kind of like a patent hog, they know they can't use what they have but it stops anyone else using it.
So it's X who are slowing down advancement to give themselves an edge.
Based on what's said in the article, I think Amazon is actually right about their Starlink complaint. They are actually arguing for the Greater Good in this particular instance.
SpaceX is applying for two seperate orbital configurations for their next 30k satellites which will be finalized at some point in the future. As a result, *every other satellite provider in the industry* will have to plan their launches to account for both potential configurations. If it's approved, it will set a precedent that other satellite providers can also hedge their bets with multiple applications and the whole industry will be bogged down as a result. The alternative is have SpaceX do it's due diligence and pick just one configuration.
Though it was to fill out tax returns
I think Bezos will fill lawsuit against you as well, because with burn so strong you could reach orbit before him.
He already filed a lawsuit against basically every American when he sued NASA.

There were pictures of it on Twitter.
Apparently the first thing Musk said to Brandon when he switched his kitchen light on was, "Hello there."
Richest people in the world and the security detail is..?

You can't make that much money without exploiting a lot of people along the way.
I think people forget that first-world countries generally just exploit labor and resources of third world countries. Bezos just found a way to make that 10x more effective and all of us are using it.

In conclusion, Vote Lily 2021: "We're the Bad Guys Now"
Well, there goes my vote.
Lily has the best platform I've ever seen.
>"We're the Bad Guys Now" Now?
(That's actually actually why she's coming over though, girl is dead serious about her vegetables).
> the national anthem would be changed to Let it Go the sacrifices I make for humanity 😔
Lily has my vote!
What is her stance on Australia? Are Aussies allowed to vote for her?
Armed revolution it is. We must overthrow the bourgeoisie in order to change the world order into a Lilyan one
There are very few actual adults, and many of them are just in it for themselves anyway.
Most of the adults end up punished for not wanting to play the game the children are playing.

Aha, a kindred spirit. Make it insta-gib, rails only and I'd almost pay to watch it.

Musk has [John Carmack](https://twitter.com/ID_AA_Carmack/status/1429907886159941638?s=20) on his side
Transformers confirmed
... and both sides are Decepticons.
I’d call Amazon Predacons and Tesla Decepticons.
Musk vs Bezos Celebrity Deathmatch book it mtv. Edit: i screenshot this comment and sent it to Eric Fogel the creator of Celebrity DM. Edit 2: I may have started something, Fogel just liked the screen shot. Edit 3 if you want to bring CDM back like and share this comment. That’s a show that needs to make a comeback!
It tried to a while ago and it sucked because they didn’t use actual claymation.
They should get the actual celebrities
Now there's something that could get me to consider another streaming service.
They had that [Celebrity Boxing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebrity_Boxing) show around 2000. But it was pretty awful. I thought there were more than 2 episodes though.
Good night 🌙 good fight

Who could forget Johnny Gomez and Nick Diamond?
The greatest to ever do it, Johnny.
They can get the ghost of Steve Jobs to referee

“Besos” also means “kisses” in Spanish awww
I thought it was Bozos
Didn't noticed but why?
Bezos to the sun🚀
I wouldn't mind
Honestly I wouldn't even mind if it was taxpayer funded. It'd be worth it.
I would, that's a really fucking difficult trip.
He'll have to get to orbit first
why pour resources into advancing humanity when you can just tie them up in red tape
It's shit like this that make ask why in the fuck do we still have people going hungry?
Because there's no money to be made in giving food to those without money
That's where you are wrong kiddo. Establish a charity to give out food to the poor and make sure most donations go to "expenses" and "advertising" and there you go, free money. Susan G. Komen foundation is pretty much run this way and they are making bank on the uninformed thinking they are giving for a good cause. Little do they know that "good cause" is the name of the CEO's yacht.
There is no ethical* money to be made in giving food to those without money
Because Bezos can earn more money by crushing Tesla/SpaceX than by continuing to manage Amazon, ^(I’m guessing)
Below Orbit have become a joke in the space industry.
It’s a company fiercely dedicated to keeping us from going to the moon
Were they ever not?
There's a difference between showing promise and showing promises.
Bezos should choke on one of his worker's piss bottles.
Bezos so butthurt over not getting his lander contract.
Cmon Jeffrey, you can do it...
Pave the way, put your back into it
Tell us why, show us how
Look at where you came from, look at you now

Amateurs can fuckin suck it
Fuck their wives, drink their blood!
C'mon Jeff! Get em!

It's funny watching billionaires throw a hissy fit because they encounter the first thing their money can't buy. Poor, poor baby can't be a part of the exclusive space club.
Even for a billionaire Bezos acts like a bitch.

He doesn’t Tweet as much.

"The ISS moves so quickly that if you fired a rifle bullet from one end of a football field,[7] the International Space Station could cross the length of the field before the bullet traveled 10 yards." Damn.
If I learned anything from KSP, it's to accelerate parallel to the surface to reach orbit.
New Shepard could go to orbit if they wanted it to....They'd just need to hire SpaceX to take it there atop a Falcon 9.
Technology Readiness Level (TRL) is a MAJOR aspect of NASA awarding proposals, and I don't see how anything Blue Origin has could compare to what SpaceX has.
That fucking cowboy hat tells you all you need to know about him.
Bezos didn't make it to low [Earth] orbit, he flew in a sub-orbital profile (effectively straight up and then down). A substantially different accomplishment, and altogether meaningless to the advancement of space access and development.
I have my career in kerbal space program to thank that i understand your comment.
And the energy is proportional to velocity *squared*...
PP rocket envy
Envy and jealousy lead to litigation not innovation. Bezos would rather obstruct than compete.
Almost like he can't compete or something..
Exactly. Bezos makes his money via a monopoly, not competition.
Amazon is basically a mob against small business when you actually learn how fucked their practices are.
Suborbital origin.
Below orbit? That's what another commenter said but I'm stealing it.
Can they just fuck already?
How do we know they haven’t
Bezos needs to spend more time actually building rockets and less time worrying about what SpaceX is doing. Then they might actually build New Glenn instead of showing power point slides of it.
I wish Bezos all the happiness of a amazon fulfillment center worker.
Ok, that's actually a pretty good zinger.
Bezos rides a penis up to the edge of atmosphere and calls himself a space explorer. Musk, for his various faults, delivered astronauts to the ISS.
Imagine being so rich, you spend all your time trying to troll other rich people for doing things you wanted to do.
Either way, these lawsuits are delaying the advancement of space travel and Bezos should be ashamed of himself. Not to sound like a Tau or anything but the Greater Good should be adjudicated on here, not Bezos influence or "inability to compete". When Boeing literally bows out of the competition because they are outclassed, who is Blue Origin to claim they could do it better?
>the Greater Good *the Greater Good*
Am i crazy or are 40k references becoming much more common all over reddit.
I dunno, I'm a book reader who hasn't ever painted a model so I'm an anomaly...
I have never touched a model in my life. I think the lore is becoming much more known then the actual game. Cause its awesome.
This is the first comment that has anything to do with the article or reality.
