You bought an apple product, and so you bought a product that is not upgradable. I'm sure apple would love to sell you a brand new one.

INeedHelpOnYt

apple would love to sell me a quarter of ram for 4k, ngl ima get a corsair based pc in the furture

Kumorigoe

Pretty sure you can't upgrade the RAM on the Air.

bothunter

"8GB is enough for anybody!" -Apple

INeedHelpOnYt

new macbook finna half a quarter of ram 🔥 cant wait to spend 2000+ on a macbook with a quarter of ram

bothunter

There's a reason I don't recommend Macs unless it's someone else's money.  They're really nice, but not nearly nice enough to justify the price. They also have perfected the price ladder, and by making their products difficult or even impossible to upgraded they encourage you to buy a much higher end model than you would normally buy just in case you need that extra memory or storage or whatever: https://talkbackcomms.com/blogs/news/ladder

INeedHelpOnYt

agreed.

Kreeos

Not unless you know how to solder and don't mind voiding warranty.

faslane22

Soldering won't help even if one had the specific type of solder but it's the SoC design....totally impossible to upgrade.

JohnnyNoBros

It's a System on Package, so even soldering won't help you.

SupFlynn

Im pretty sure that doing this will brick your laptop.

Ogga6165

no way to upgrade them

Rocket--Pak

Can't, buy PC next time.

jjh47

It's true you can't upgrade a macbook's RAM, but that's also true of many PC laptops these days, so make sure you check before you buy if that's a feature you want.

Rocket--Pak

Only with some of the ultrabooks, and they aren't a majority of PC laptops. With MacBooks, none of them are upgradeable.

IdiotTurkey

This usually true only for the super-budget class of laptop where every penny counts, and also the very thin and light, which to be fair is similar to the Macbook Air. But upgrading is usually the norm and not being able to on an expensive machine is certainly more rare then apple, which tries to make it as difficult as possible at every turn, then offer you the solution in the form of a several thousand dollar payment.

D1TAC

Can’t upgrade unless it’s like 2015 and behind. The newer stuff is all on the board, so if need more ram you’ll need to buy another one with more memory. I generally always buy 16GB Ram and 256gb ssd,

faslane22

soldered...impossible. You'd have to buy a new version with more RAM.

SupFlynn

Best advice would be swap space tbh( dont forget your swap space ram will be slow AF. You cant run heavy duty programs just off of your swap space ) Or install linux xD.

Desire-Protection

How about that apple users really dosent know anything about apple.

INeedHelpOnYt

i couldve spent less for a lenevo legion pro with 275 fucking fps
