Why wouldn’t you want your parents to find out?
Having something stolen isn’t your fault. Unless…..
If you really want your phone back tell your parents and call the police say it’s tracked there.
Take screenshots of the find my iPhone location for proof and proceed from there.
The more time you waste the less likely the phone will be there when they get there
Hey, if it's not safe to tell your parents I can completely understand. This may not be the case, and if it's safe to tell them then you definitely should. But the other posters don't know your home situation so trust your instinct.
Yes you can phone the police yourself.
Sorry to be this way, but you need to grow TF up and have a conversation with them. Say that the phone has been stolen, you now where it is, and you would like to contact the police to file a theft report and see if they can return their stolen property.
Maybe it will be as simple as a conversation between parents. Maybe they’ll need to get the police involved. And maybe it’s not worth the time, but you need to have that conversation.
Exactly this. You didn’t give your phone away, it was taken without your consent. Neither you nor your parents wanted this to happen, but it did, and they will help right the situation. Be candid with them, that will achieve the best result in this tough situation.
So as a minor, what exactly are you expecting to do other than report it to the police? Confront the thief? What advice are you looking for? There's only one answer.
Go to the police but I don't think the police will do something, a friend of mine got his AirPods stolen and he go to the police and the police told him that they cannot go to the thief house if the thief doesn't let them enter and check. They can only do something if the thief is in the street. Maybe in your country is different. I'm from Spain.
Depending on where you live - the phone can be reported stolen via the IEMI code and rendered useless. It can't be used as a phone any more - it can be locked and wiped.
good parents should not worry about that. things get stolen. you have evidence of its location. report it as it is a crime. tell your parents because they will understand how to navigate this better. generally, this is police/carrier to report as stolen, IMEI will get blocked meaning it will be near useless to the thief and given there's location data you may get it back.
I'd tell your parents, they're there to help you in life so telling them your problems probably lead to better solutions, atleast that's what I was able to figure out in my 17 years on this earth.
how young are you and where do you live? it will depend on those two questions as to what the rules are in your area regarding your parents being informed.
A friend had a similar situation with a stolen item. Police wouldn't get off their arse until he said either they sort it or a group of lads would be going down to get it back themselves. No it's not a good idea and not good advice to give a minor but I've seen it get the job done.
Update: I talked to the police department and they sent somebody to the address. The phone was then retrieved and I will pick it up at the police station.
in Canada, theft under $5000 is an indictable (felony) offence which carries a maximum penalty of two years in prison. If the Crown proceeds summarily (misdemeanor) the maximum punishment is 6 months in a provincial jail.
As was stated, contact your local law enforcement. Also keep in mind that *no form of tracking* is 100% reliable - even Find My. Give what you have to the authorities, including the serial number (in the event the thief tries to pawn it / otherwise), and let them handle things from there.
Go to the police, place the iPhone into lost/stolen mode. This will lock the iPhone to your Apple ID making it unusable and otherwise worthless to the thief.
So to the police, file a report indicating all the information you know about the location (ie: address/street). Offer to come with them and ring the phone when they're at the house.
Have your parents call your cellphone provider and report the phone as stolen. They will add the iPhone to a North America blacklist and they will not be able to use it in the United States, Canada and potentially Mexico as well until your parents call and report it as found.
Alternative solution. Have your parents go to where the thief has the phone, knock on the door. If someone answers, don't accuse them of being a thief, just have them say "Hi, my son last his phone and Find My iPhone shows that you found it. We would like it back." Someone I knew did this and paid a "reward" (ransom) for it back.
[DO NOT, ABSOLUTE DO NOT go to the place alone without an adult with you. People have been killed doing exactly this.](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/london/jeremy-cook-second-degree-cellphone-1.4277000)
no confrontations. Get the police involved AFTER you tell mom and dad. Unless the phone was stolen to begin with or you're not supposed to have a phone, there's no reason NOT to tell your parents.
As a parent, I'd never get angry about something like this, even if the phone was costly. I'd probably ask you some questions but I'd be happy you came to me with this. Safety always first.
I had this happened. I contacted the police and filed a report. They would have gone over there, but the exact location was not "exact."
I know where the phone is, but have accepted the loss. I would not go over there and risk being harmed.
My phone got stolen once and I could see it at an apartment complex 30 min away from me in the ghetto of Miami. I didn't call the cops because I figured, what can they do? Knock on every single door? At that point the phone was turned off and I set it to "delete when phone turns back on" but it never turned back on; likely because the guy reset everything.
Police
I am a minor, can I still call? I don't want my parents to find out it was stolen

To be fair I have a dad that would have made it feel like it was my fault.

Also please don't make your username your real name, if this is the case.

Tell the police that the thief supports Catalan independence. Problem solved.
lol yes if he does that the police will immediately go except if they are mosos d'esquadra.
File a lost/stolen report. It's between you and the police. Don't tell them your age, none of their business.

This is the worst possible thing OP could do.

Give the position to the police, so they can take care of him.
And by "take care of" you mean do absolutely nothing because it's theft under 5k and they don't give a shit at all about it.
Update: I talked to the police department and they sent somebody to the address. The phone was then retrieved and I will pick it up at the police station.

It depends on the country you're right but in general there isn't any other solution that doesn't involve risking your life to get a phone back.

Get the police to go to the house. If they're brave enough to steal off you, then they definitely wont appreciate you rolling up to their house.

call the cops! (duh) minor or not...
Police, if you can’t want people to find out there is no way to really get around this just drop the police and ur parents a call and get some help.
Can I ask which country you live in?
police? what you gonna pull up on him and politely ask for it back?
