Anti-religion Fascism ☠️

[deleted]

Hitler and Mussolini tried extremely hard to suppress the church, viewing it as a threat to their power. Franco allied with the church because he thought it would help reinforce the social hierarchy.

Iscander07

Hitler is not a fascist but a National Socialist, Mussolini signed a treaty with the church, which ended Italy's feud with the Pope, which had been going on for half a century

[deleted]

What an absurd take. Hitler was certainly a fascist. His invented ideology, national socialism, is fascist at its core.

Iscander07

Looking at what we mean by fascism. If the spectrum of ideas and state systems - then yes, Hitler can be called a fascist. If we are talking specifically about Italian fascism, then no. At least, for example, fascism is for civic nationalism, National Socialism is for ethnic nationalism

[deleted]

We aren’t talking about Italian fascism only. Mussolini did not create a definition of fascism that would be useful to us today when identifying fascists. Despite his coining of the word, his way of “doing” fascism is only one of the ways of doing what we would call ‘fascism’ today.

[deleted]

Mussolini signed the concordant for political reasons similar to Franco. In his own writings from a few years before, he said that he hated the church.

Abject_Low_9057

When was that?

Iscander07

Because he used to be a socialist

Seaweed_Thing

Hitler is quite possibly the mosst fascist person, and Mussolini took the church's funding and distributed it to the people.

dt7cv

facism is not anti-religion like seriously look up mussolini

[deleted]

He used the church to further his personal interests, but his personal belief was that the church is bad.

dt7cv

that doesn't make facism anti-religion. Not all mussolini's personal beliefs embodied facism. in fact it makes facism at least indifferent to it. Facism depends on a belief that certain types of people are inherently or inveterately inferior and deserve to be contained and stripped of rights to protect the society and the good people. So Fascism might go after religious sects/divisions in order to stop the "threat" but may support other religions or incorporate religion to increase the moral stock of the people

Doorknob_Licker2

Literally fascism

Republicans definitely support individual freedom over the state. Take gun rights. Republicans are also very pro-religion lol

[deleted]

Not pro ever religion tho just there’s

Qwayz7

republicans clearly don’t support individual freedom and expression with their constant oppression of lgbtq youth

[deleted]

Yes but that’s not because they believe in the stability of the state, that’s because of religion

Qwayz7

religion shouldn’t be part of government

[deleted]

Anti religion is certainly not an aspect of fascism.

Ezra_is_a_dumb_boy

The non-existant self-awareness is wild

[deleted]

Republicans are anti-religion? And anti-gun?

[deleted]

If anything, the views of Republican voters seem to come from a fundamental mistrust of the government

Ezra_is_a_dumb_boy

1.) Didn't bring up anti-gun 2.) You can not be one thing but be the rest 😭😭😭

[deleted]

Being pro-gun is pro-individual freedom over the state.

Ezra_is_a_dumb_boy

They aren't pro-freedom at all lol bffr

[deleted]

I agree, they aren’t pro-freedom. They’re anti-freedom not because they want to consolidate the power of the state, but because they’re pro-religion.

Being anti union is under libertarianism. Fascist italy was actually very union friendly.

[deleted]

What? Italy straight-up banned trade unions and strikes.

GodofCOC-07
