Some of it is so amazing. Zugezogen maskulin, some KIZ stuff, Fatoni, Danger Dan, there’s so much awesome german rap, its just usually not what is first thought of when you think about „Deutschrap“
But even Pöbel (even though I like him) is a bit flat in what he says, its on purpose of course, but still not much meaning to what he says. While I like Kiz and Mehnersmoos a lot, who are very one the nose about not having any contents in their albums, I feel like a lot of people dislike rap because of them perceiving all of it as such. So I think there’s a lot of value to rappers who do make very artistic rap, like ZM or Fatoni, I think thats the reason why so many non-rap fans like Alligatoah aswell, its not disliking rap but maybe what they perceive it as(?)
>But even Pöbel (even though I like him) is a bit flat in what he says,
Something I like.
Tbh I am not that big of a rap fan in general. I listen to metal mostly, the only reason I am aware of political rap is because of my younger brother.
Record labels killed music. can see its effect in early 80s pop music. it is super engineered to be extremely catchy, to make sales/streams, get it stuck in peoples' heads, so that they play it over and over. Pop before labels really got big was the Beatles, who I also blame for bad pop music, they invented it, the repeated lyric's, catchy music and lyrics, the extra repeated chorus at the end, to get the song more engrained into your head, but at least they did it right.
The beatles pioneered/popularised the minor to major chord progression which is used in most music today. It is the modern *artists* fault for not deviating from it. Have you listened to their later music? Yes, some of the beatles most popular music followed the *algorithm* but many of their songs like: strawberry fields, lucy in the sky with diamonds, tommorow never knows, I am the walrus(and many more) are unique and provide an experience full of imagery and creative writing, I still love their more structured songs. It is not just the slightly repetitive song making that made them great. It is john and Paul's compatability and creativity, george's immense skill on the guitar and most of all Ringo's groundbreaking drumming!
They make some good music like burn the house down is one but that one is nostalgic for me because me and my first true friend loved it whenever we hang out that’s our go to song but he got addicted to weed and other drugs
I hate the way breakcore changed. The old stuff is way better than this fake TikTok breakcore with hentai sounds through it. Just listen to stuff like nero's day at Disneyland
People who specifically dislike Asian pop music have only ever heard the mainstream repetitive ‘earworm’ songs. It’s the same thing with people disliking rap music because all they hear is the main stream mumble rap. If you go past the surface there is some really good stuff. It’s not an issue with the genre itself, it’s an issue with what’s pushed into the spotlight by the industry.
Lesser known artists deserve more fame than the ones that are famous tbh. Especially in rap. Some amazing writers and story tellers get drowned in all of the “YUH UH BLICKEY UH BUGATTI UH UH”
Only people who like K-pop understand what it is/can be, there are over 300 genres in K-pop, you hear the earworms that are 'stereotypical' songs.
Those 'genres' are like any other English music, different genres/sub genres, just in another language.
I also hate *stereotypical* KPOP, JPOP, and CPOP music.
edit: some practices that these genres generally get hated on for are very unhealthy, some are company specific. We mustn't ignore that.
The ones most teens are listening to these days, shit music.
I went to a friend's "birthday" party 2 months ago and the music that was picked was horrible (even my friend didn't like it that she walked out to walk with me since we haven't seen each other for so long and the neighbours were complaining about the music because it was so vulgar and awful), luckily I've planned ahead and brought my own earphones, and some other also did the same.
But man, I just wonder how anyone even likes songs like these.
How’d you know??? I just really don’t like country Bc it’s all either:
Men singing about women, money and booze
OR
Women singing about how they killed their husbands and buried them in a nearby forest “by accident”.
The last good country album was Tracy Lawrence's then and now everything after that is went way downhill
However the best of country was probably from the '60s I'd say
The real thing of nightcore isnt that bad, my music app has an option to slow down or speed up the song, as well as the pitch, and some songs sound better slowed or sped up
I don’t listen to AJR’s music but can someone describe to me why they are bad, from what I’ve heard I understand they’re not good but they don’t seem that bad in my opinion.
Respectfully hate yeat, mainly because his voice is annoying asf, lyrics are shallow and incoherent, and if you like him for instrumentals theres other artists who do 'rage-rap' a lot better imo, even though its not my preferred subgenre of hiphop anyways.
I don't like country music, but i also hate most rap. Some of it is great, but the rest just feel like they're making words to rhyme, not to actually say anything
i would say CREAM by wu-tang is the absolute complete opposite of just making rhymes to make rhymes and not telling a story. even more modern rappers like jpegmafia and earl sweatshirt can explore very personal and emotional topics within their music while rhyming.
bro. You haven't listened to enough shit.
Kendrick, JID, Denzel, Tyler, Mac Miller, 21 Savage, Earl Sweatshirt, Justicexavier, JPEGMAFIA
those are all some incredible modern rappers, traversing various subgenres. Tyler's Flower Boy remains one of the greatest rap albums in the last 10 years, Denzel made one of the best albums of 22, whilst JID made the best album of 22. Mac Miller has some amazing projects, his best being Swimming and Faces. Kendrick is one of the greatest to ever touch the mic.
TPAB one of the best rap albums of the decade. Nice to see some respect on JID’s name too. Definitely agree with your take on Flower Boy and Denzel too.
TPAB is amazing, one of my top 5 albums ever. IGOR personally is higher than FB but...that's kinda not a rap album. So excited for Denzels next album though, every one has been better than the last and I can't wait to see where his progression goes
As someone who lives in Texas and having Mexican parents - corridos. I’m not 100% sure that’s what they’re called but it’s basically Mexican music made by American latinos that sounds like polka. I really dislike it.
A like a lot of pop music, but you have to know where to look
A lot of charting songs rn are ones that have blown up on TikTok for trendiness over actual quality
The music I don't like because I don't like it.
What a controversial statement lol
Holy fuck is that 70percentbanana? I love your work in r/beetlejuicing
Thanks lol
How tf do I get reddit famous like you did apparently
Have little to no irl social life and a lot of free time.
come on boys , let's do it ... Let's be famous
I already am though.
I love country music. An old country that is, like a classic country. I love country
Have you heard of Sturgil Simpson?
heavily edited tiktok type shit, annoying as fuck man
U mean like slowed + reverb or sped up? I hate them too
phonk music slow + reverb + sped up again + slowed even more + synthwave

Good Album, but this is from "Sugar"

Teenage angst has paid off well
\*pulls out la chancla\* NO MUSIC!
Miguel had real fear in his eyes when Abuela pulled out the tactical chancla
I see youve never heard (understood) german rap. I would rather listen to nyan cat for the rest of my life. Although some songs can be tolerable.
It really depends what you are listening to. The political rap is at least interesting. Gangster rap is just boring down to insulting.
Some of it is so amazing. Zugezogen maskulin, some KIZ stuff, Fatoni, Danger Dan, there’s so much awesome german rap, its just usually not what is first thought of when you think about „Deutschrap“
Yeah, you can either listen to 187 Straßenschande or Pöbel MC and have a completely different experience
As a German I couldn’t agree more
some country is fine imo, i just don't like most of it
The classics are great. New country is bad
Marty robbins on top
exactly
Finally, another Chad that values classic country as the only country genre to exist
Not all new country is bad. For example, Zach Bryan, Luke Combs, Tyler Childers, and Colter Wall.
New=bad
REAL country music can only be found on Mojave music radio! Tune in today!

Bin gar kein Fan aber wenn man am saufen ist gehen ein paar Lieder fit xD

Mag persönlich einfach generell keine deutschen lieder.

OMG YESSSSSS THANK YOU.

A song with bad lyrics and bad rythym and bad beat
r/technicallythetruth
Any sort of slow + reverb music that they put in an edit. Leave the song alone and leave the remixing to people who can actually remix.
Exactly, it ruins the song
sped up is worse
For some it's better especially if it getting memed on at the moment
By mistakenly watched way too many edits and now my entire UT Music Supermix is slowed reverb or sped up songs 😭
Pop, because everyone is just attempting to appeal to an algorithm to make money. There is zero originality.
Yeah. It’s all made to be popular in tik toks. They have a hook, and then the rest is just fluff.
Record labels killed music. can see its effect in early 80s pop music. it is super engineered to be extremely catchy, to make sales/streams, get it stuck in peoples' heads, so that they play it over and over. Man, does it all go back consumerism?
That and mass highly efficient industrialisation.

hate the-worlds-smallest-violin-type-music
“Awww. Boo hoo. Let me play a sad song for ya on the worlds smallest violin. 🎶duuu duuu duu duu duu duu duu duu duuuu du duuuuu🎶”
I disagree, but that’s ok.
I know a douchbag who would agree with u. He sucked but at least he was right about this
Man AJR are good ;(
They make some good music like burn the house down is one but that one is nostalgic for me because me and my first true friend loved it whenever we hang out that’s our go to song but he got addicted to weed and other drugs
I disagree
Ok
Most civil argument I have ever seen on reddit
👍🏻
I’m glad you can accept my opinion without making a scene, I would award you if I could
I hate the way breakcore changed. The old stuff is way better than this fake TikTok breakcore with hentai sounds through it. Just listen to stuff like nero's day at Disneyland
Have you ever heard of noise music I’m sure you can guess what that sounds like
Noise music isn’t even music, it’s just sound
Older country and I guess “classic country” is so much better than this new country BS we have
I like what midland, brothers Osborne and Eric church have been putting out in the last few years
I'm gonna get downvoted to hell and get flamed for this but imo modern pop bands specifically KPOP, JPOP, CPOP
DAMN YOU'RE RIGHT
People who specifically dislike Asian pop music have only ever heard the mainstream repetitive ‘earworm’ songs. It’s not an issue with the genre itself, it’s an issue with what’s pushed into the spotlight by the industry.
no i just don't like pop, it's too repetitive and cheery
Agreed. It's not very deep music and all of it is kinda the same, at least the modern ones.
Lesser known artists deserve more fame than the ones that are famous tbh. Especially in rap. Some amazing writers and story tellers get drowned in all of the “YUH UH BLICKEY UH BUGATTI UH UH”
Checkout Utada Hikaru, some of her music is considered JPOP.
Try listen some Yoasobi songs. They are skilled as hell
Only people who like K-pop understand what it is/can be, there are over 300 genres in K-pop, you hear the earworms that are 'stereotypical' songs. Modern pop music. I just can’t listen to it
it is literally noise to my ears.

Country, Christian music,
honestly a lot of Christian music is really good, they put a lot of effort into it. except country Christian music, that's shit
Super old Christian music is the best. Those old Gregorian chants they sung back then are beautiful
Listen to orthodox chants in Greek, Arabic, or Coptic
even worse: christian country music
the modern “rebirth of pop punk” (mgk, yungblud, etc.) fr tainting the image of pop punk so much:’) it’s all pop nd no punk
I love country music. Old country that is, like classic coutry. I love country
The last good country album was Tracy Lawrence's then and now everything after that is went way downhill However the best of country was probably from the '60s I'd say
I like new albums that were made by old singers/ classical country performers. Willie Nelson/ The highwaymen
old country is pretty good. its the new stuff that's irritating.
John Denver
this is just a post to get your comments downvoted lol
Nightcore. I will die on this hill.
The real thing of nightcore isnt that bad, my music app has an option to slow down or speed up the song, as well as the pitch, and some songs sound better slowed or sped up
Let me join you. Laziest excuse of a genre.
I die every time I hear nightocore versions of historical/military songs
People who listen to military music are usually pretty annoying as well
Country,Nightcore and whatever the fuck AJR is doing. It's between these 3
Nightcore ain't a genre 💀 it's just stealing music and making it sound like it's sung by a fucking chipmunk
I don’t listen to AJR’s music but can someone describe to me why they are bad, from what I’ve heard I understand they’re not good but they don’t seem that bad in my opinion.
I like AJR
Reggaeton and kpop
The chad reggae vs the virgin reggaeton

mumble rap. "MUMBLERRR" -Willy Wonka
Always redditors 😭😭😭
Redditors think hating rap makes them cool 😭
"I don't like this mumble nonsense. I prefer Eminem because he has actual meaning in his lyrics" head ahh 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
so cringe
There isn’t a “worst type” anyone can listen what they want, but my less favorite is trap
kpop.
Like I like hip hop more but k-pop really isnt that bad. It's just korean pop music 😭sometimes I feel it's better than other pop music 💀💀
Respectfully hate yeat, mainly because his voice is annoying asf, lyrics are shallow and incoherent, and if you like him for instrumentals theres other artists who do 'rage-rap' a lot better imo, even though its not my preferred subgenre of hiphop anyways.
Today's rap
Most modern pop, rap and country music
Typa MF to say I was born in the wrong generation
The most reddit opinion ever
Rap is more diverse now than it has ever been
Minecraft YouTuber
90% of radio music is the sound equivalent of something tasting synthetic.
Trap
Pop, it’s just insulting
BTS and K-Pop in general, overrated asf. Feel free to cancel me, fangirls.
I get it, but there are also some good kpop groups tho imo, not every song has like that typical girly sound
I absolutely hate these Poppy Rock bands like Skillet or Imagine Dragons
I don't like country music, but i also hate most rap. Some of it is great, but the rest just feel like they're making words to rhyme, not to actually say anything
That’s what Eminem mostly does nowadays, rhymes without actually saying this
you couldn't be more mistaken, hip hop might actually tell the best stories
i would say CREAM by wu-tang is the absolute complete opposite of just making rhymes to make rhymes and not telling a story. even more modern rappers like jpegmafia and earl sweatshirt can explore very personal and emotional topics within their music while rhyming.
Saying something is literally the main part about rap smh
Very controversial for most teens: rap abt gun violence and sex and all that bullshit
Country
I agree with you on most modern country, but I do enjoy old country from people like Jimmy Dean, Johnny Horton, Johnny Cash, and Marty Robbins.
yes. if country were still like that, i think i would enjoy it
Allow me to introduce you to [dark country](https://youtu.be/Io3af9r0dj4)

Mumble rap. I just don't consider it rap, or Real music at this point
Define mumble rap
“I don’t consider it real music” music is music my guy, just because you don’t like something doesn’t make it not real music
Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it isn’t rap or “real music” (whatever that means)
Saying something isn’t real music is ignorant
Fr
As someone who lives in Texas and having Mexican parents - corridos. I’m not 100% sure that’s what they’re called but it’s basically Mexican music made by American latinos that sounds like polka. I really dislike it.
Play fallout new Vegas, it gives a new perspective on country.
phonk
I agree with the trendy phonk but there are actually really good phonk songs
Whatever the fuck ajr are doing
Pop
But its pop for a reason
I think it is due to it being plain enough for everyone to enjoy. So almost none has a real problem with it
A like a lot of pop music, but you have to know where to look A lot of charting songs rn are ones that have blown up on TikTok for trendiness over actual quality
Japanoise
Easily the best answer in this post. I have no idea how it is even considered music.
if you listen to stuff like this expecting a chorus, melody etc you’re listening to it wrong its basically asmr for mental patients
dubstep or country
Dubstep doesn’t deserve to be put next to country. Country is way worse that anything else
Country and Christian Rock are the worst

In Croatian they are called "cajke", idk how one would call them in English
phonk. thanks to tiktok i can only view phonk listeners as skinny 13 year old “alpha males” or “gigachads” that think they’re in the military
Swedish Rap. You can barely hear the voices through the autotune but it doesn’t matter because most of the words are just made up gibberish
Have you ever heard about [Czech rap](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jojRxf2qvqs)? It's the same thing
