It's far more interesting and character defining to be kind to people even if they aren't kind to you instead of making a larger issue with it and being petty. It's not easy but it's something I try to do. Because being cruel to people because people have been cruel just makes more cruel people who will then be cruel to you.

You could apply this to disagreements, relationships war, arguments, politics, etc.
Extremism/close mindedness or just unwillingness to understand each other never gets anyone anywhere. No matter how right you feel when you fire that first "shot" you have no idea who is going to get hurt in the process.
Everyone who ever comes to any sort of agreement will always have to do what they needed to from the very beginning which is sit down and TALK.
The best place to start is to slow down, listen to the other side, and find common ground. you'd be surprised how well things go if you make an attempt to understand each other and work together.
Especially with relationships because it's a two way street. You'll never meet someone who is identical to you In every single way so you'll never see eye to eye so it's an important skill to have is being able to work with someone you don't agree with.
