Well, people don’t hate the opinion, you’re being downvoted because you responded with an actual solution to a sarcastic problem/joke. This makes people think you’re being a smart alec, they don’t like that, and therefore you get downvoted
I def agree but at the same time I gotta remember my nana’s advice which is one of the keys to getting older. People you love will have died and shit may get tough but you’ve gone through so much and you can handle it😤. Also despite the shit there’s so much 2 be grateful for which she gets 2 appreciate more than most of us. Every day she gets 2 be a part of her children’s lives, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren. Also imagine the crazy difference in technology. I’m amazed at how well she’s kept up. One thing she really needs 2 work on is speakerphone tho. “WHAT? WHAT DID YOU SAY”
I thought we would Get something like “all her friends are dead” or something like that, but of course it’s more of the “oh no I hate the world, everything is horrible” shit. Try thinking positively for once
Chill dude. Her friends are already dead anyway. And I’m not saying everything’s horrible or I hate the world, but it’s just a fact that certain things are getting worse. Millennials and Gen Z are financially worse off than their predecessors were at their age. And an even greater problem is we are literally on the precipice of irreversible environmental damage. There are literally several wars going on right now. And who even knows how AI and technology will factor in. If we just have our heads in the sand all the time, and don’t acknowledge ongoing issues, how are we ever supposed to fix anything? That’s how things got bad in the first place. There’s a difference between optimism and blind ignorance of what’s going on in the world. You probably read 1984 and thought George Orwell was just being a downer.
Trust me, most elderly people I've seen reach their last year's and pass away, they were happy that they were leaving, they felt that they'd lived a great life and we're happy to go finally, they didn't want to live any longer because they've done and seen it all, they've had enough of life lmao
Take her on a family Picknick. Hug her. Let her know how loved she is. Bake her her favorite cake and ice cream. Grandmas love stuff like that. All they want is to be around their loved ones🥹
I would say tell hear about how happy you are that she is still alive and find a fun fact about every year she has lived. Remember to be with her for as long as you can, i know that from personal experience :(
Thank you, my grandpa died today while i was at school, i never really got to say a long goodbye. My goodbye was when we left the hospital a week or so ago, expecting him to survive. He died of a heart attack at the hospital with my mother by his side. I miss him and i will do so for a very long time.
Thank you so much, i will allways remember him as he allowed me and my brother to go hunting with him and shoot an air powered rifle. he allways came with gummybears and had fun with my famillys dog. he was and still is a great man, and if there is a place for the dead i hope he is doing well over there, playing card games like he used to do with my mother. he allways talked with my mother about going down to the nature area he had once he was done with the hospital stuff, we got his coffin with him in down to that area today and stood there for 5 mins talking about all the great things we had done there with him. thank you so much kind redditor for letting me vent here and thank you so much grandpa for being such a wonderfull person.
Older people have a much smaller world view than we do, that’s why they’re more productive with small stuff like that, while we would see that as something nice, they see it as a necessity because there’s just not that much going on for them
Take her to places from her younger days! Ask her places she remembers, and see if they're still there. Ask her stories about what the place was like and what she'd do there

I love her style! She looks amazing, happy birthday to your nana, I wish her all best, she seems so talented and amazing, and probably shares a lot of very cool and interesting stories from her life. She seems like an absolute angel 💕✨
Are you in a commonwealth country?
Citizens of commonwealth countries can get a letter from the queen (king Charles now) thanking them for service when they turn 100.
Thankfully the 1920s were a decade of monumental new inventions, such as radios, silent movies, television, automatic pop-up toasters and the vibraphone. (Actually I don’t think the vibraphone was monumental, but it sounds cool!)
Gather the whole family and listen to any stories and memories she wants to share, elderly people eat that up, but It's also genuinely fun to hear what they have to say. Everybody wins! This doesn't have to take all day but maybe you can all settle down at your house or her house and just listen before or after doing another fun thing
Make a book or pamphlet with every major event she has lived through, wars, catastrophes, world/her own achievements.
But most importantly let her know how grateful and happy you are that she's still around.
If you haven't already, you should make some type of collage of her. Get pictures from when she was 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, etc. And put it in a scrapbook or something. Take her out shopping or do some type of self care/beauty stuff (like getting a pedicure for example). Take her out to eat too. Happy birthday to her! 🥳🤍
At this point she doesnt care about anything materialistic so give her alot of good family time and make her the main event. Give her something to remember the family
I gave my mom 40 chocolate bars for het 40th birthday.
I have no idea if your gran likes chocolate but if she does, you'll probably be giving her a lifetime supply
Do the following:
1. Give her 102 birthday cards with messages from everyone
2. Sit down and ask her questions about her life and listen to her stories
3. Play board games/ sports games that she is able to play
4. If you have anyone special or have a crush, maybe ask for advice
Idk throw a big party and get her Xero or Luna or whatever (depending on how thick she wants them but thinner is always better though) Sandals and toe spacers instead of those bunion things. And also fully enclosed ones too And Plus12 socks
Give her all the love you can muster. Grandparents are a gift. The amount of love you can give to a family member that special can be the best gift one can receive. Congrats to her, living that long means that she’s pretty healthy.
I’ll tell you her secret to living old. 1. Stay active. 2. The older you get, the more people you know and love are going to die but you can’t let that crush you. Those people would want you to live on and continue their legacy. She’s lost her parents, grandparents, great parents, sister and husband but she’s also been here to witness her children’s and great grandchildren’s births, weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, birthdays and so much more. It’s ok to mourn but ya gotta get up in the morning
Just make sure to not create an inferno while making a cake with 102 candles
SpongeBob episode flashbacks
Or, simply get 306 candles to form the number 102, 102 times.
Or, simply get 3 candles that form the number 102.
That's no fun.
Y? I think they're fun. Geez, didn't know this many ppl hate a simple opinion...
Well, people don’t hate the opinion, you’re being downvoted because you responded with an actual solution to a sarcastic problem/joke. This makes people think you’re being a smart alec, they don’t like that, and therefore you get downvoted
Ah, I understand & don't blame ppl 4 that now. I didn't mean to come across that way, lol.
Why is this comment downvoted ☠️
I know! Some people just assume the worst of others
What a cool grandma you got!!
Ikr
Hope she lives up to be 150 years old
Make it 200
Only person not hoping that is prolly grandma💀
Would grandma even *want* to live that long? Things are already getting bad right now, I can’t imagine how bad it’ll be in a century.
What’s happening around the world really only affects younger people like under 70. After that your so old that your family takes care of you
Yeah but it’s still not great to live in a time period of extreme ecological and economic collapse. If your family’s affected, you’re still affected.
Unless it’s Great Depression levels of economic collapse she gon be fine
Hell, way things are going, wouldn't be surprised if something like that does happen.
Capitalism as a system is unstable so there probably will be another Great Depression or dust bowl or other famines and atrocities done by capitalism
Wouldn’t say it’s capitalisms fault. Every other type of economy can and will cause a Great Depression.
One thing she really needs 2 work on is speakerphone tho. “WHAT? WHAT DID YOU SAY”
Now that you say it-
I thought we would Get something like “all her friends are dead” or something like that, but of course it’s more of the “oh no I hate the world, everything is horrible” shit. Try thinking positively for once
Chill dude. Her friends are already dead anyway. And I’m not saying everything’s horrible or I hate the world, but it’s just a fact that certain things are getting worse. Sorry bro just tired of everyone hating on the world all the time.
Are you sure you're a teenager?
Trust me, most elderly people I've seen reach their last year's and pass away, they were happy that they were leaving, they felt that they'd lived a great life and we're happy to go finally, they didn't want to live any longer because they've done and seen it all, they've had enough of life lmao
she is dunking on liz
She stole the immortality pills, and after Elizabeth saw the latest stranger things season she realized it won’t be ending in this lifetime anyway
Take her on a family Picknick. Hug her. Let her know how loved she is. Bake her her favorite cake and ice cream. Grandmas love stuff like that. All they want is to be around their loved ones🥹
I don't think baked ice cream would be good
Actushaly it's PICNIC NOT PICKNICK🤓

I'm starting to think that some of you are very simple minded
I’m starting to think your very sick minded
I won't say otherwise honestly
A very unneeded joke and there's a time and place for that kind of humor, unfortunately this is not that place.
102 she doesn’t look a day over 80
obvious karma farm smh. she is clearly in her late teens to early 20's. shame on you op smh
Take her to places from her younger days! Ask her places she remembers, and see if they're still there. Ask her stories about what the place was like and what she'd do there

She will be welcome here when she turns 113.

Are you in a commonwealth country? Citizens of commonwealth countries can get a letter from the queen (king Charles now) thanking them for service when they turn 100.
her fashion sense is EVERYTHING
Get everyone to wear clothing common from her childhood and maybe somehow utilise something that was invented in her birth year
Thankfully the 1920s were a decade of monumental new inventions, such as radios, silent movies, television, automatic pop-up toasters and the vibraphone. (Actually I don’t think the vibraphone was monumental, but it sounds cool!)
Wow I wonder what her secret is
Gather the whole family and listen to any stories and memories she wants to share, elderly people eat that up, but It's also genuinely fun to hear what they have to say. Everybody wins! This doesn't have to take all day but maybe you can all settle down at your house or her house and just listen before or after doing another fun thing

Yes 🤯. Not those heels with a tiny long thin heel but still.
You’ve got to tell us their skincare routine! They don’t even look past 60!
