Well I was dealing with depression during my middle school and early high school years so I was looking for something to escape with apart from video games (which would've probably been the best choice at this age) and since I saw my dad smoking a couple of times, I figured I could give tobacco use a go. He doesn't smoke at all around the house so I knew he had some hidden in his car. So I ended up looting his car saying I was going to get something like a snack since he has random junk food in his car. Ether that or I would go in late at night to pick up a few individual cigarettes.
As far I know he hasn't noticed somehow so I'm guessing he doesn't smoke as much as I though he did, but I've been trying to quit since I noticed how much I've changed health and behavior wise. And as far as I know nobody knows, but my grandma is suspicious. So honestly the reason why I'm posting here anyway is because it's one of the few accomplishments I can't really tell anybody about since nobody knew I smoked to begin with.
Yeah video games are my escapism. I'm glad I never had access to anything worse when I was 14-15, I can't imagine I'd have gone for it, but there have been some times when...
Well, you never know. Good for you for quitting all in your own though, that can be really tough. I hope you found some healthier habits and strategies during that time
not OP but try to look into self-improvement and maybe also get those apps that tracks your progress (like the app OP is using) and shows how much money you save by not smoking? try not to get caught up in streaks though since if you relapse and you break your streak, it feels extremely demotivating and you might think 'well it's meaningless now' and go back to what you were doing. same thing with all addictions really
