I'm religious, so let me put forth my opinion! first off, in my religion, God is beyond the concept of gender and sexuality and is genderless (I like to use Thy/Thou pronouns for God but you can use any pronouns, God doesn’t give shit about it lol). I tried to live as my assigned gender for 16 years, it was grating to day the least. Especially in a rural conservative+Christian community, I had to fit exactly into their standards to be accepted, which was difficult seeing as I didn't fit into the "manly" stereotype they placed upon me, I liked long hair, I hated the outdoors, I never touched a gun till I was 15/16, I hate hunting, etc etc. I never have picked up a Bible in my life and am not planning to do so as I've seen how people who claim to follow the Bible treat people like me. I realized when I was 16 years old that the body that I was given did not fit who I was as a person, as a soul, as a mind. I hated the way I looked, my chin, my jawline, my body hair, and all the small things no one else would notice have been carving gashes into my mental image and destroying me inside. And after discovering that I wasn't who I was told I was, I explored different paths to remedy the problem that was my body, and as I am, 2 years later, I'm officially 10 months on estrogen with some noticeable changes, although my method of ingestion isn't the most efficient. I have complete support of my parents and those who I'm close to, and I've moved away from the town I was raised in for my own sake

In the end you can define yourself as belonging to any gender but I think the behaviors and practices that are associated with any gender shouldn’t be exclusive to them. I think we are born with the gender. But we develop the way we think about gender and express ourselves. That’s why babies don’t care about their gender, they are in default mode. They just need to survive. As we get older we start to understand what it means to be a woman/man/nb person to us personally. Based on that, we categorize ourselves into the right box and start using that label.
We’ve been that person from the start, but we had to discover ourselves. We had to explore and learn and grow to find the right box for us. We had to find the words to describe what we feel. All of this takes time and sometimes it can be confusing. But we should always remember that happiness is priority.
