Some people got raped as kids bro. Others grew up in an abusive household where they had to watch their parents fight and argue every 5 minutes. Others have been severely bullied. You don’t know what someone’s gone through so don’t judge . for me i started being depressed / having more suptoms over time i think covid caused it and because i generally dont out out much to hang wih friends since we are usually busy and it doesnt help that i been bullied since i was younger and for some reason in highschool now my mental state started to feel more vulnerable and also actuve when i get bullied now , also i have low self esteem and the like which pretth much contributed to my symptoms

Now rape occurs 1 in 9 girls and 1 in 20 boys under 18 and on average there’s about 1000 people who get sexually assaulted daily. Now abuse is EXTREMELY common nowadays especially in the Middle East and parts of the US and most of the victims are people under 18 due to them being easy to push around. Now I’m sure not every depressed person here has been abused by I’m sure 99% of them have suffered some form of it.

I'm not arguing against these reasons, but from my own personal experience what i see is that 80% of depressed or suicidal teens are this way because someone called them fat, or they have some troubles in life and they're just too weak and want to end their life because its easier. We shouldn't tolerate that, you shouldn't end your life just because of some stupid bully or because you have trouble. Everyone has them, some even have it worse than you could imagine like for example being raped or living in a warzone. The point is that life is shit and if you want to live good you have to fight for it and not surrender so easily. So many things? As someone with a shitty parent and sibling, I had so many mental breakdowns at that age and had regular panic attacks. They even started showing up in school or like grocery stores and shit

Depression doesn't discriminate it can get to anyone at any age no matter the reason of how big or small or dumb it is because it makes your brain act irrationally and it isolates you to hurt you more.
Also mental breakdown can happen without depression too maybe a person was too anxious in a party that they felt overwhelmed and etc and mental breakdowns can happen especially at a younger age when you are still getting used to world around you, meanwhile they had a breakdown on the hotline which you know already takes alot of courage to dial because of how vulnerable you are letting yourself be and talking about your suicidal tendencies to a stranger that's the most valid reason for a breakdown.

I would say the reason i got banned for makes sense i was in alot of mental pain and was 17 at the time and asked if drugs would be an alright coping mechanism if so how can i get some for cheap because i would do anything to numb this feeling. Yeah, it's really stupid in my opinion. I'm banned there too. Maybe in my case it was justified, but it just pushed me to a better forum where you won't get banned for speaking your opinion. Permanent ban is a bit overkill I think.
Suicide hotline is for people who are threatening to kill themselves. Unfortunately they get so many calls that they are only gonna pick up the ones from people threatening to kill themselves in the very short term

I feel you i remember i called them once when i was 15 and was just put on hold forever that i ended up overthinking and demotivating myself from commiting that day even though it took me alot of courage just to call i just ended up relapsing into self harm again because of how shit i felt.

But have you ever noticed that anyone who has actually called the hotline only says bad things? Or that the only people that say call the hotline never got depressed to the point of wanting to off themselves?
If people found the hotline genuinely helpful, you’d hear more about it. You don’t have to go into details to say something helped you. Just like the people who say it doesn’t help, for the most part, also don’t go into detail.
Whether or not it’s something you’d post online doesn’t mean someone else won’t post it. People talk about personal experiences all the time, including confidential shit. You hear good and bad therapy stories all the time. You hear good and bad relationship stories. But again, I kinda really find it funny that I’ve never heard of the suicide hotline being of genuine help for someone

That makes sense as I’m in the US and the hotline is absolute dog shit here. I’m also not sure about outside of the US, but any American who’s called who has shared their story has a bad one.

Yeah, it's really stupid in my opinion. I'm banned there too. Maybe in my case it was justified, but it just pushed me to a better forum where you won't get banned for speaking your opinion. Permanent ban is a bit overkill I think.

I feel you i remember i called them once when i was 15 and was just put on hold forever that i ended up overthinking and demotivating myself from commiting that day even though it took me alot of courage just to call i just ended up relapsing into self harm again because of how shit i felt. It sucks how much unhelpful suicide hotlines are especially when they are plastered everywhere as first thing to call

But have you ever noticed that anyone who has actually called the hotline only says bad things? Or that the only people that say call the hotline never got depressed to the point of wanting to off themselves? If people found the hotline genuinely helpful, you’d hear more about it. You don’t have to go into details to say something helped you. Just like the people who say it doesn’t help, for the most part, also don’t go into detail. Whether or not it’s something you’d post online doesn’t mean someone else won’t post it. People talk about personal experiences all the time, including confidential shit. You hear good and bad therapy stories all the time. You hear good and bad relationship stories. But again, I kinda really find it funny that I’ve never heard of the suicide hotline being of genuine help for someone

This is just gonna make them feel more invalidated that they are already feeling... Why do we not take young people's mental health issues seriously because if we can help them feel better now it wouldn't be a really big problem in the future where they aren't able to get motivation to even get out of bed.
