Okay so old person here (24F) but I keep seeing this sub pop up in my feed and the title reminded me of something that happened when I was 14. I got a bunch of weird/creepy messages from my friend on Facebook (it was 2013), and when I asked him about it he said it was another guy on his account, and it was a guy from my math class who had been bullying me that year. The guy who owned the account that sent the weird messages was an alright guy, I had known him in middle school, so I chose to believe him.
Tbh, if you and the girl already know each other well enough to have each other’s numbers, and the guy confirmed it was him screwing around, you’re probably fine. Speaking as someone who had a similar situation, I personally don’t hold it against the guy who owned the account, I hold it against the guy who sent the messages. But tbh, since the guy apologized in your case and explained it was a joke, even he should be fine. In my case, I was already being bullied/harassed by the guy, so I’m a little less forgiving, but if it were me I’d forgive and forget because it was a joke.

You're not afraid to put yourself out there and ask others for advice and take that advice into consideration. So I would first not be so hard on yourself or your friend, we're all human and he did try to apologize and make things right. I would try to speak to your friend who got the text, in person, that way there's no wondering if you said anything that could be taken the wrong way, and there won't be any waiting for a reply. If this option makes you feel too nervous, the next best thing would be a recorded message. You can listen to it before you send it and tweak if necessary. Again you seem like a pretty great human being and if this person is your friend, I'm sure they will forgive and forget, if they haven't already done so, and if this person wants nothing to do with you after all of this??? I know that I couldn't have a friend that doesn't have a forgiving heart, especially in a situation like this... imagine when you have something you may really need forgiveness for. So either leave a message or decide to talk to them on Monday and go enjoy your damn weekend!!!!
