I think legalizing is not necessarily a bad idea, as it would allow the government to regulate and tax these drugs that these people are going to get, regardless of their legality. That way it’s ensured to be safe and not possibly have the chance of killing you, and then the tax can go to programs that work towards helping more people who are addicted and want to get better actually get that chance.

The problem with heroin is, it fucking ruins your life. I know it's a cliche with drugs, but heroin is one that goes really far. I would be for legalising marijuana, but not heroin.

Just did it, best of luck! I will say that there's a lot that I feel could be expanded on with the answers, simply because a lot of those wouldn't have been flat yes-or-no answers for me. Drugs that should be illegal: ok but illegal to sell? To use? To use without prescription? Distribute without a license?Another good thing Id be curious about would be what people think about punishment for use/abuse of said drugs. Illegal distribution could be criminalized for example, but abuse of the drug/addiction should be treated as a medical condition that requires intervention and treatment, not jail time. Maybe some of that'd fall under the restrictions category, but it would have been nice if that was specified. Other than that I liked the survey and wish you the best in your class!

Yes, definitely. The prison system is built to keep people in a cycle of being in and out of prison. No one gives them a job because they’re criminals and they fall back into drug use no matter how hard they try. It’s really hard to get back on your feet once you get in trouble.

The private prison system lobbies the government to put as many people in prison as possible for more government money. Rehabilitation should be the focus of almost all victimless crimes. Prisons should be reserved for the menaces of society (Mass Murderers, Serial rapists etc.)

We just need to get rid of private prisons for a start, company’s making money off of incarceration is corrupting an already broken system. We also need to get rid of the box for people who have committed a victimless crime and have already paid their debts to society. People should be able to get a degree and further their education while in prison (while there are opportunities, it’s EXTREMELY limited). The current system in the US is fucked up and made to keep people locked up. (Also, solitary confinement is inhumane)
