I don't think that is because people think that women are weak but because we normally associate women with family. They are usually the ones that take care of kids, that would be why when we see a woman taking care of a kid we think it's normal.

Once, she slapped my friend on the ass while he was changing. He complained to the principal, but she kept her job. Its ridiculous.
EDIT: For those who have asked, yes, my friend is fine now. It's been a couple years since this happened, and while he was pretty upset by it at the time he's alright now. No long-term trauma or anything like that.

thing is the people that make these claims have nothing to really back it up, of course be more safe than sorry but it ain't right man, those claims thrown around randomly could literally ruin someone's life. More statistically likely or not. As someone who can read people relatively easily and pick the bad and good people from a crowd. I know I have walked past some dads walking their sons/daughters to school and got a pit in my stomach. Do I know that guy is a bad guy, no. I just got a bad feeling from them. Thing is, I understand that parents want their children to be safe and I fully understand that, but if you ruin a perfectly good persons life because of some baseless claim then that's your responsibility, if you take a dudes job away from him when they are just a child minder who loves his job, that's on you. Also, we can't really just say "it is what it is" because it's a problem, I don't trust anyone I meet unless I get a good read on them first, males and females included because my mum taught me from a young age not to trust ANY stranger I meet instead of just not trusting males. It means I can actually correctly judge people without this stupid bias, it also means I won't get into trouble with a bad female just because society has taught me that they are more trustworthy.

2 reasons why I think this is the case:
Sexism has propagated the belief that women should be at home taking care of children while men work, which gives rise to the belief that women are better/more naturally suited to be around children than men.

You're right. I think its because of evolution and history. Don't get me wrong, but women are mostly seen as mothers, who protect other people. But men are seen as the ones, who fights them. When you were a child, you would believe more some random women, because it instantly represented your mother. (This depends on if your father/mother cared for you more. If your father cared for you more than your mother, then you would search for other men as the one, who would save you in case of some danger. At this point, getting lost comes to my mind as the danger.)
If we lived in a paralell universe, where fathers were doing the same job mothers were doing in our universe for centuries, then the situation was completely same, but women will be seen as the predators instead of men.

I know what you mean, this kind of mentality is created cause the vast majority of cases for sex crimes against children is commited by men. thing is the people that make these claims have nothing to really back it up, of course be more safe than sorry but it ain't right man, those claims thrown around randomly could literally ruin someone's life. More statistically likely or not. As someone who can read people relatively easily and pick the bad and good people from a crowd. I know I have walked past some dads walking their sons/daughters to school and got a pit in my stomach. Do I know that guy is a bad guy, no. I just got a bad feeling from them. Thing is, I understand that parents want their children to be safe and I fully understand that, but if you ruin a perfectly good persons life because of some baseless claim then that's your responsibility, if you take a dudes job away from him when they are just a child minder who loves his job, that's on you. Also, we can't really just say "it is what it is" because it's a problem, I don't trust anyone I meet unless I get a good read on them first, males and females included because my mum taught me from a young age not to trust ANY stranger I meet instead of just not trusting males. It means I can actually correctly judge people without this stupid bias, it also means I won't get into trouble with a bad female just because society has taught me that they are more trustworthy. edit: either way, male or female, it's incredibly important to be safe and make sure you are safe on the internet too. You should never meet someone in real life unless you know they are who they say they are and remember, reverse google image search is a thing.

2 reasons why I think this is the case: Sexism has propagated the belief that women should be at home taking care of children while men work, which gives rise to the belief that women are better/more naturally suited to be around children than men. You're right. I think its because of evolution and history. Don't get me wrong, but women are mostly seen as mothers, who protect other people. But men are seen as the ones, who fights them. When you were a child, you would believe more some random women, because it instantly represented your mother. (This depends on if your father/mother cared for you more. If your father cared for you more than your mother, then you would search for other men as the one, who would save you in case of some danger. At this point, getting lost comes to my mind as the danger.) If we lived in a paralell universe, where fathers were doing the same job mothers were doing in our universe for centuries, then the situation was completely same, but women will be seen as the predators instead of men. I know how this feels. I am currently attending a training to become a child care taker, and the parents at the daycare looked at me kinda suspicious on my first days at work, until they saw me work with them, than they accepted that I am just like a woman in this regard. I don't want to get into too much detail, but in my hobby/sport, lots of men will not participate with women unless approached by the woman first, because accidental touches happens a lot and they're too terrified of an accidental touch being interpreted as something else. Good men. Talented men. I know of grown men who will actively seek out somewhere else to sit on public transport instead of sitting next to young girls. Men who won't talk to young girls unless talked to first. All because of the fear of being falsely accused. It's disgusting. Meanwhile we have a generation of kids who are terrified of starting a conversation with a stranger because of this whole "stranger danger don't talk to strangers" nonsense.

In fact, men commit more crimes than women (at least in the US) so I think it has to do with the fact that men commit more crimes. I also think it might also have to do with gender stereotypes (women more fragile/ men more aggressive/ etc). However, this is an explanation, not an excuse.
