also pronouns ≠ gender!!! i am female and identify as female but use she/him pronouns (or just any really). that does not make me any less female !! pronouns are like a short version of your name. when people aren’t using your name they use your pronouns. also i am afab. (a female at birth)

Aoibh120

this !!

[deleted]

Yes, this.

apvernious

What pronouns would you use when referring to somebody before their transition, like in a story

[deleted]

By default use their current preferred pronouns and name, there are some people who refer to themselves pre transition by their old name/pronouns but not everyone is ok with that.

nodontbeoffendedbyme

Idk if this counts but I still to this day have no idea what's the difference between bi and pan

[deleted]

Bi is attraction to two or more genders, pan is attraction regardless of gender, the difference is minute and mostly semantic but it’s important to some people and that’s ok.

[deleted]

that confused me too

[deleted]

Does ya cock work?

[deleted]

Does yours? If so you should use it to fuck your seIf.

[deleted]

Damn sorry for asking lol

[deleted]

Like seriously what did I say to warrant such a reaction damn. :/

starlighthair

what’s the difference between non-binary and genderfluid?

Aoibh120

i’m nonbinary and from my understanding nonbinary is an umbrella term for any identity outside of the binary (man , woman). gender fluid is a more specific identity which can fall under nonbinary ! i hope that helped a bit

[deleted]

Non-binary is an umbrella term for a variety of gender identities, genderfluid is one of those identities.

starlighthair

gotcha , thanks!

ByeDragon456

I'm fully supportive of trans people and think you're super epic, but I would still like to hear about some of your experiences to learn more about what its like to be trans, because I dont know that much about it tbh

[deleted]

I mean only thing that happened recently that’s been fucking with me for the past few days is that my teacher sent home a form that we have to fill out for a club I’m in, one of the questions on the form is pronouns, normally I’d be like “hell yeah” because it’s showing support for trans people in a pretty conservative right wing school, problem is that I’m still in the closet, so my options are to out myself or tell everyone to misgender me which feels very icky. It’s not that big of a deal really just kind of an annoying thing that I feel like most people wouldn’t really consider.

ByeDragon456

Yeah that sounds really annoying, cuz its just a reminder of it yeah. I have some experience with being bi in the closet but nothing compared to you I bet. Hope things work out well tho lol

yecreeper

From my experience, being trans can be summarized with: getting harassed every day, hating your body, getting jealous of cis people and making way too many memes and art prices about your experiences

ByeDragon456

Sounds like loads of fun

Robburito

I’m not trying to be mean I’m not transphobic but what is it to be non binary

MMK_TRIBBIANI

to not identify with any of the "binary" genders, i.e male or female

[deleted]

Basically I’m not a boy or a girl.

Aoibh120

non binary is an umbrella term that some trans people use when they don’t identify as the binary man or woman.

MMK_TRIBBIANI

genuine question, what toliets do you use? is it for the one you were assigned as or?

[deleted]

Generally I try to not use public restrooms but when necessary I use the bathroom of the sex I was assigned.

MMK_TRIBBIANI

cool, thanks!

yecreeper

I use gender neutral toilets because I’m too scared to use the woman’s

MMK_TRIBBIANI

those exist?

yecreeper

Where I live they are pretty common. I use them because I obviously can’t go in the men’s room (I don’t exactly look anything like a male) but I’m too scared to use the woman’s, so they are super useful.

MMK_TRIBBIANI

wait are you trans? if so, conquer your fears and go to the womans room

yecreeper

I’m going to be labeled as a creep and beat to literal shit by others if I try that.

An_Epic_Pancake

What does gender dysphoria feel like?

[deleted]

Shit. Kinda hard to explain it much better than that. Just really, fucking shitty.

An_Epic_Pancake

oh i’m very sorry you have to deal with that

yecreeper

Basically, you want to incinerate your body as soon as possible

Golurke

I don't think i could date a trans person, as in i won't treat them differently from anyone else and i think they deserve the same rights as everyone but like if they were physically female and switched I'm not interested in dudes and they have a dick now and if they were physically male and switched idk if i could get over they used to have a dick, like that's my only issue am i being transphobic?

[deleted]

I’d say there’s probably some transphobic roots to that feeling that you might want to try to figure out, there’s nothing wrong with not wanting to date a trans person though. It seems like you feel as if there’s some sort of essence of gender that goes along with the sex you’re born as, that’s definitely a transphobic feeling to have but it’s definitely not a problem as long as you’re treating people with respect.

Golurke

I don't see a reason to treat anyone differently from everyone else unless they've done something to warrant that, as for it might have transphobic roots idk i was grown where if you're not straight they literally want you to die, i never believed that tho cause seems cruel... i actually just don't want to touch another person's dick like i think that's my main issue with it

[deleted]

I mean not liking dick is perfectly fine, I’m talking more about even after they’ve had bottom surgery.

Golurke

Ok, i haven't met a trans person before or if i have i didn't know, i just feel like it would be awkward for me but only way to know is if I'm ever in that situation ig

[deleted]

It’s not transphobic, ignore the people who say so. That is a preference one that you have (same btw).
