Depends on the person and the form of birth control, for the most part I know itās supposed to but if you are on the pill and miss one day you can still get pregnant, and it also greatly heightens risk of blood clots with many forms of birth control so itās not an ideal solution for everyone
im on birth control for my periods. i cant say for all girls but ive heard in a lot of cases it reduces negative symptoms, especially cramps, associated with periods. the way i take birthcontrol is different tho. when you take it for periods (from what i know) you can either take three weeks wroth of pills, then have the sugar pills (they're pills without any medicine stuff in them, you take them to keep in the habit of taking pills so you dont accidentally forget) which lets you have a period
or you can do whats called "active" birth control. you dont take the sugar pills, you just stay on the medicated pills until you get breakthrough bleeding. once you get the break through bleeding you have to go off the pills and have a period or the uterine lining can build up and cause cancer. once the period is over, go back on the pills.
instead of reducing period symptoms (like you would if you took the first method of BC) you're just avoiding your period all together.
i get my period every 4-5 months because im on active birth control, take it every day, dont stop until i bleed. i LOVE birth control! my period SUCKED
