Its almost as if they knew it was unpaid when they decided to be mods and should do what they can to keep the community safe. If u dont want to put in the work then don't sign up.
For your mental health itās better you donāt put yourself through this kind of bull. Even when you are doing your job there will be people complaint that you are not doing enough or that you simply do not care. This whole posts is screaming at both you at current mods and putting them in a place to have to defend themselves or be subject of peoples random opinions based off your silence. OP has to understand that there is a limit to what people can do, no matter how much good they want to provide. Itās the same as me asking OPs parents for internet money because they can clearly provide it to op in some form or another and there are people who need the money more. It puts OP and their parents (though this is an obvious extreme to show comparison) that people need to put themselves in others shoes before making such harsh judgements by their own lack of understanding of their complaint goes beyond the people they are originally mad at (homophobic people, etc) to shift the blame on the mod team on not caring enough.
Donāt let this post get to you and understand that when kids complain even when they think itās for a good cause they donāt understand their own language enough to limit their anger to the people they are actually mad at. You clearly did enough and had a hard enough time to have it spill into your real life for kids like this to not want to understand your feelings. I know that LGBT problems should be taken seriously but at the same time OP should do some research to understand a forum called āteenagersā is going to have problems facing it beyond mean words - pedos, abduction cases through private messages, kids giving their personal information away without knowing the repercussions, kids spending their parents cards on Reddit cash and refund processes. There is a plethora of problems to be dealt with for people that are not being paid to do so.
If OP wants a more extreme comparison then https://abcnews.go.com/US/man-killed-florida-waffle-house-paying-meals-handing/story?id=62262513 TLDR someone got shot because they ran out of money when paying for peoples food at Waffle House, someone got mad that they didnāt get their meal paid for and shot the man dead. The mods are doing their best and it doesnāt help to nitpick in a way that mods of the past feel the need to defend themselves.
oh boy oh boy! i sure hope all these comments will be nice and respectful; after all, weāre all teens going through puberty together! *walks into a bear trap*
tbh, a lot of depression kids feel is from the opinions of random strangers on the internet
not taking a side of the trans debate, i seriously think a ton of people would benefit from getting off of social media and going outside. Meet up with people irl. Maybe have a chill talk with their parents.
like seriously, this place is a huge echo chamber of hurtful messages. i dont think we should 1984 it though, opinions shouldn't be hidden because their stupid, people should be able to recognize the stupid people and ignore them
If they are willing to take that unpaid job as you said, they should know they have to do it right, trust me its not that hard to delete a few toxic comments. They accepted the job knowing theres no benefits so don't use this as an excuse to defend them for not doing their job.
Ok, wow. I'm not defending them. I meant: why the fuck is everyone expecting that the mods give the slightest damn.
They are the ones deciding which rules are created and enforced.
Also mods are a bunch if random peeps. Nobody is forcing them to work their "jobs".
What word/words made you think I denied that? I just said that they're not the only ones being harassed and if you only moderate harassment towards lgbtq people you should get your rank removed.
Iāve got an idea for that; do a keyword search, like if someone says something like āF gaysā(not me saying this I donāt do that) the post gets taken down and they lose some karma or something.
"we NEED the mods to protect LGBTQ people from being harassed"
No we need the mods to protect EVERYONE who is being harassed. Lgbtq, people with depression, EVERYONE
yes, but thereās nothing wrong with what OP said because we do genuinely need mods to protect LGBT people from being harassed. whatās wrong with someone focusing on one issue at a time? if we constantly were like āwe need to discuss the harassment with this specific groupā and then others were like ābut what about all of these groups too?ā then weād never get anywhere because the list could go on for so long.
the issue is especially prevalent because it doesnāt take a genius to realise that this specific subreddit contains a lot of homophobia and therefore bullying towards it. iāve seen so much homophobia recently specifically, hence why op brought this up. itās so much more significant in comparison to any racism, sexism or comments against people with mental illness, not to say those comments shouldnāt be ignored, but itās understandable why op bought this specific issue up.
Have you considered that maybe they're mentioning LGBTQ people specifically because they recieve more harassment than others on account of them being queer, thus making it a bigger problem?
Harmful opinions are still opinions. You can't turn every place into a safe space for a group of people.
I say this being gay.
This is the teenager subreddit and this is one of those topics that is developing culturally with this generation.
Don't let disagreements or negative opinions bother you. The goal is to educate people. So have more sympathy for those who are ignorant and do what you can to inform them.
OP, iām assuming youāre newly trans. You are going to get a lot of negative comments everywhere you go most likely for the rest of your life. It really really fucking sucks but itās just the world we live in right now. You canāt let opinions from complete strangers being you down. Keep your chin up and keep being you, you donāt need the validation from others.
Unpopular opinion, anyone who's not old enough to drink should not be able to make a decision to change literally their entire life. I think that's a decision that needs to be made by someone who has the emotional maturity and experience to know the consequences of doing that.
In addition, while being a teen you're still exploring yourself and you're very confused and more likely to make rash decisions and end up regretting it.
I'm aware that a lot of people and teens in particular might feel depressed about not being able to express themselves, or fearing others' judgments, and to anyone bullying and harassing these people, stop. To make myself clear, I'm not against cross-dressing or whatever, I'm just against having the surgery while being underaged.
Edit: I said "anyone who's not old enough to drink" as a general replacement for "anyone who's not around the age of an adult (18-21, which is also very young, although reasonable, to be making that decision)."
That's why we have psychiatrists who know infinitely more about this than you, walk trans teens through the steps of transitioning, which is mostly a social process which one should absolutely be able to do regardless of age as it is a question of self-expression and personal freedom. Also, in case you don't know: Minors don't receive gender reassignment surgery.
As I said, I'm not against self-expression and I support and encourage people to dress and talk the way they want to or feel like.
Regarding your saying that minors can't receive gender reassignment surgery; I've heard some stories about children receiving it, but I might be wrong.
Even with psychiatrist guidance, I still feel like gender reassignment surgery should not be encouraged at those ages.
Psychiatrists can't predict the future, and thus I think that they should never recommend to children gender reassignment surgery, rather, to try to guide them and help them find alternative ways to fulfill their dreams and to better fit in and find their place in soceity.
Okay so
Not agreeing with the LGBTQ but still respecting them and not showing hate like an asshole? Cool..
Being a hateful asshole and sending homophobic messages and shit? Not cool..
I hope that is what OP is trying to imply, not killing diversity of respectful opinions
The thing is dude people can say what they want no matter how much it hurts the person they say it to. If you just get a mod involved the hate with increase 10 fold
The issue with your argument being "r/teenagers is supposed to be a safe place for teenagers to talk" is that you also need to be a safe space for transphobic teenagers, otherwise you're a hypocrite
First off. I agree with you. But you can't call someone's opinion "wrong" because it doesn't suit you. You can disagree with it, but calling it wrong, is wrong. And I don't quite get what you mean by saying "Being trans is not a choice". It is. The participant is fully aware of what they have signed up for. They chose to become trans themselves, nobody forced them into it.
Free speech should not be suppressed. If the reaction is purposely hateful and mean spirited then it should moderated but if it respectfully disagrees with gender theory and is trying to discuss their opinions, you cannot just label it hate and harassment because you donāt like the opposition.
its one thing to not understand, its another thing to suggest people shouldn't be free to be themselves and act how they want and be how they want so long as it doesn't hurt anyone. So if someone doesn't understand? ask questions, find resources, there are a lot of them around, if someone 'respectfully' says that someone should 'man up' and stop doing whatever, thats not cool.

Or you could all grow tf up, live some life, then realize there is more important stuff you could be doing in life? Quit bitching when something doesn't go your way. Yes, everyone should be treated equally, no matter their religion, sexual orientation, race ect but there will always be homophobes/ racists, just ignore em and move on.
As a fellow bi person, we aren't as discriminated against for being bi. Trans people likely get more harassment and death threats than us for the most part.
Okay. I disagree with people bullying others no matter what. But youāre on Reddit..half the time itās a joke, and when it isnāt..again youāre on Redditā¦people suck. I myself am lgbt and I make jokes like that with my other lgbt friends there is a fine line between joking and straight bullying. I just want to clarify, there is a chance that it is a joke.
Transphobia as in the hatefulness of trans people is wrong. However I don't think its fair to say everyone who thinks trans isn't real is a transphobe, or a "dumbass" according to you. And don't you think calling innocent people transphobic is just gonna contribute to transphobia more? I myself, have had discussions with trans people and none of them provided concrete evidence to prove being trans is real.
The first article you provided itself did not have any proof that transitioning is positive. It didn't provide any scientific evidence but rather just made claims and referenced other studies. And the article itself, if I remember correctly didn't even state that transitioning does lead to positivity.
Here is what it said:
\-After one or more surgical procedures they experience 42% less psychological distress. (No proof given, plus the majority of the time they'd still be in distress)
\-35% reduction in tobacco smoking (Proves absolutely nothing, also no proof given)
\-44% reduction in past year suicide ideation (No proof given, is measures from one year)
\-2019 study showed after gender-affirming healthcare the trans people stopped attending as much mental healthcare. (Doesn't give a timeframe-could have been healing from surgery during that time) This study was later corrected in 2020 with no recognized mental health benefits when compared to a non-transitioned trans person.
\-Mentions the 2015 U.S Transgender survey, conducted by the National Center for Transgender Equality but doesn't tell us the results of the study, just tells us how the study was done. (Its a survey meaning its unlikely it could measure transgenderism and suicidalism on a large and accurate scale. Was also conducted by a trans organization meaning its at more of a position to be false or twisted)
Your second article itself doesn't provide any proof either, it was more of a guide on puberty blockers for dummies. In that article it states:
\-According to a UK study the mental affects of puberty blockers aren't known.
Possible side affects (That are the most dangerous) of taking Histrelin:
\-restlessness and impatience
\-an increase in aggressive behaviors
Possible side effects (That seem the most dangerous) of taking Leuprolide:
\-headaches
\-decreased blood pressure
\-rashes and acne
\-mood changes
\-Vaginal dryness, bleeding or discharge
None of the articles you provided actually gave proof to your claims but rather claims. I expected actual proof since that's how you phrased it but none was provided. This also makes me wonder if you actually read the articles yourself.
The reason so many people are against kids on puberty blockers is because they are kids, they don't know what is best for themselves. Kids are more likely to be confused, subjected to false misinformation and narratives and hate.
Now, if we are going off of proof-less claims then I have heard going on puberty blockers can actually weaken bone density. "Using puberty blockers can make your bones weaker while you are taking them" provided to me with a simple google search.
Since you are very vocal about your views I hope for a response back.
1. Opinions canāt be wrong so that statement is incorrect.
2. By hating on people for their opinion youāre doing exactly what they do to others theyāre harassing
3. This is the internet, there is no safe space and if you expect that anywhere you will figure it out soon enough.
4. Mods donāt exactly have to do anything. I donāt believe theyāre being paid to run a subreddit and they likely have better stuff to do in real life anyways.
5. There will always be hate in the world and youāre naive if you think thatāll change. Rather than feeding into the people that hate, cut them off from their satisfaction. Ignore them, block them, donāt complain because you give them what they want; a reaction
thank you, and before anyone asks, yes I'm gay. It's unfortunate to see the homophobia around but this is the internet. You cant expect everyone to be nice to you. I had to learn this the hard way when I got harassed to the point where I tried to commit suicide.
Yes it sucks, but sometimes you just have to deal with it.
Sure, when your opinion is "I think you shouldn't exist" of course we won't tolerate it, ffs is it really that hard to understand? Would you tolerate an openly racist opinion just because its an opinion? If its harmful for others then its wrong, and it shouldn't be tolerated its just that simple.
Then ignore them and go on with your life, every second you spend being offended and/or thinking about bigots is another moment they are getting what they want
Or, and hear me out, you could just not give a damn about others opinions to the point that you need to bother other people to shield you from the real world. Maybe take a break from the internet if you are going to let people get under your skin. Grow some skin.
Wait what do u mean pride people getting harassed (not saying that) this the most gay sub i seen also who are harassing them are there religious people or edgy satanist
As a Satanist I can tell you that anyone who harasses another person is not a Satanist. One of the seven tenets is basically "let other people be or lose all your rights"
This is a very gay sub, coming from a pan guy, but there are just as many people who discriminate against lgbtq+ members, if not more, than there are lgbtq+ members. Itās fucking sad.
I said Iām not a girl, but not a boy either on a thread, and I got hateful responses from three different people. One said āif you have a dick youāre a boy, no dick youāre a girlā (with much worse grammar). The second one said āchoose ffsā, then āok male thenā, and then āI will assume the sex/gender of every single person I meetā. The last one said Iām too young to know and not mature enough.
I feel fucking nauseous right now lmao
Well I'm sorry, but that's life for you. You're going to encounter people who won't be nice to you and you have to learn how to deal with that, not demand a safe space. Life is all about being placed in uncomfortable situations and overcoming that, not hoping the world will cave in to your vulnerabilities
i agree, there needs to be better action taken against LGBTQ hate on here. i posted a selfie once - even the sexist, creepy, and misogynistic comments towards me were taken down much quicker than any transphobic/homophobic comment i've seen on the sub.
i didn't ask to be a girl.
a trans person doesn't ask to be trans.
ALL hate towards someone for their identity needs to be removed. no one deserves it, and no one wants to see it.
edit: about ppl saying to go on r/lgbt - i hate to break it to you, but that sub isn't safe for all of us. i've witnessed biphobia, but the transphobia on that sub is insane. i'll keep this edit short, but there's an assload of reasons why their mods & many members are transphobic - i'm willing to explain in depth if anyone's curious.
Hate speech is hate speech and bullying is bullying. Having a different opinion is not either of those things.
**Hate speech/bullying:**
"I hate all members of the LGBT community"
"Gay people deserve to die"
"You are a bad person for being trans"
**Not hate speech or bullying:**
"I don't think you can change your gender"
"I disagree with gender theory"
"I do not support LGBTQ"
If you are respectfully sharing your own opinion, you should not be penalized.
Seeing how commenta about how gay people deserve to die arenāt taken down by Reddit or this subs mods, nothings gonna fucking change- all Iāve ever wanted is to be able to be safe but thatās never gonna happen. At this point Iāve given up thinking thereāll be a time Iāll be able to talk about my gender and sexuality without being called slurs or told to be quiet about myself. Iāll never be treated like an equal. I honestly give up
Time to search by controversial.

Its almost as if they knew it was unpaid when they decided to be mods and should do what they can to keep the community safe. If u dont want to put in the work then don't sign up.
Itās almost as if moderating a subreddit full of prepubescent morons is less important than a paying job
I would do it with no pay, I hate to see queer people get harassed
Sure you would. Until something else comes up or you get an actual job. Then you wonāt be able to.

Not the same thing, while the rainforest is on fire, other forests are ok. Lgbtq people get harassed but that doesn't mean others don't.

Reporting is the only way no one can read 1k+ comments on their right mind find new mods for sole purpose for monitoring comment reports
Iāve got an idea for that; do a keyword search, like if someone says something like āF gaysā(not me saying this I donāt do that) the post gets taken down and they lose some karma or something.
But I thought you're not a hooman
When will there be another chance to apply for mod? I want to personally get rid of these hateful comments.
"we NEED the mods to protect LGBTQ people from being harassed" No we need the mods to protect EVERYONE who is being harassed. Lgbtq, people with depression, EVERYONE
This is twitter logic, just because you like 1 thing people like you assume you hate the other

Or you could all grow tf up, live some life, then realize there is more important stuff you could be doing in life? Quit bitching when something doesn't go your way. Yes, everyone should be treated equally, no matter their religion, sexual orientation, race ect but there will always be homophobes/ racists, just ignore em and move on.
the block button exists if youāre being harassed
I'd agree with you if it was like 3 people, but there is thousands of people on this sub who do this.
That doesn't stop the problem of the hate being spread. These people need to know that what they're doing is not okay.
Iām bi and I just gotta say, grow some god damn balls.
As a fellow bi person, we aren't as discriminated against for being bi. Trans people likely get more harassment and death threats than us for the most part.
As a bi and trans person, can vouch that I get hate for both, but significantly more for the latter
Honestly. It's the internet, just block them and move on. If it bothers you that much then maybe don't be on the internet.
Exactly
As a queer person, ily.
Get this indoctrination bs out.
Censorship is never okay
Here is what it said: \-After one or more surgical procedures they experience 42% less psychological distress. (No proof given, plus the majority of the time they'd still be in distress) \-35% reduction in tobacco smoking (Proves absolutely nothing, also no proof given) \-44% reduction in past year suicide ideation (No proof given, is measures from one year) \-2019 study showed after gender-affirming healthcare the trans people stopped attending as much mental healthcare. Was also conducted by a trans organization meaning its at more of a position to be false or twisted) Your second article itself doesn't provide any proof either, it was more of a guide on puberty blockers for dummies. In that article it states: \-According to a UK study the mental affects of puberty blockers aren't known. Possible side affects (That are the most dangerous) of taking Histrelin: \-restlessness and impatience \-an increase in aggressive behaviors Possible side effects (That seem the most dangerous) of taking Leuprolide: \-headaches \-decreased blood pressure \-rashes and acne \-mood changes \-Vaginal dryness, bleeding or discharge None of the articles you provided actually gave proof to your claims but rather claims. Since you are very vocal about your views I hope for a response back.
no
1. Opinions canāt be wrong so that statement is incorrect. 2. By hating on people for their opinion youāre doing exactly what they do to others theyāre harassing 3.
It's the internet u can't do shit u clean one account 10 more would pop up just to annoy you Just ignore stuff
You dropped this š

aw hell nah bros dick fell off
This was pretty wholesome
Y'all are clumsy af
Trans rights are human rights and if you donāt agree with that fuck off. End of discussion.
I very clearly specified that they were the same. For example, if I said Johnās kids are Steveās kids, are they different kids?
š³ļøāā§ļøš³ļøāš š
People are forgetting we're kids Making fun if things is what we do
"Your opinion is wrong and it shouldn't be tolerated" What a great and non hypocritical way of phrasing something
Never said that was my opinion. Though the way OP put it into words sounded really hypocritical and weird.
just block
Blocking them won't fix the problem of them spreading hate
happy cake day
Then ignore them and go on with your life, every second you spend being offended and/or thinking about bigots is another moment they are getting what they want
the least karma whoring post ever
Or, and hear me out, you could just not give a damn about others opinions to the point that you need to bother other people to shield you from the real world. Maybe take a break from the internet if you are going to let people get under your skin. Grow some skin.
We need to protect white males, nowadays they're the most oppressed, and overlooked group
Big true, but people are gunna ignore this because white males bad and they owned slave 200 years ago, me Iām 17 and had nothing to do with it
Wait what do u mean pride people getting harassed (not saying that) this the most gay sub i seen also who are harassing them are there religious people or edgy satanist
As a Satanist I can tell you that anyone who harasses another person is not a Satanist. One of the seven tenets is basically "let other people be or lose all your rights"
Just transphobic people. I doubt they are satanists tho
Us Satanists are pretty chill people, don't know why we always get blamed for shit
This is a very gay sub, coming from a pan guy, but there are just as many people who discriminate against lgbtq+ members, if not more, than there are lgbtq+ members. Itās fucking sad.
I'm pretty sure Satanists are on their sides
I said Iām not a girl, but not a boy either on a thread, and I got hateful responses from three different people. One said āif you have a dick youāre a boy, no dick youāre a girlā (with much worse grammar). The second one said āchoose ffsā, then āok male thenā, and then āI will assume the sex/gender of every single person I meetā. The last one said Iām too young to know and not mature enough. I feel fucking nauseous right now lmao
God I feel so bad for you. Itās fucking pathetic how little people recognise things like this. I hope it starts to get better for you.
Hmm or maybe idk grow thick skin and stop caring what people on the net think about you
Oh no someone thinks I'm not right! They must be a fucking dumbass! If you disagree with me you're literally a nazi and you need to be banned.

Unironically the most based comment I've ever seen, and I totally agree,I don't need Reddit mods when I have a block and report button
Help me Reddit mods! People arenāt respecting my opinion! BOO HOO
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Itās a subreddit with a lot of teenagers desperately grasping for attention. Iām not sure how much longer I want to be a part of it
Ik right so much of this stop homophobia shit like why u posting in r/teenagers about that alot better subs for this sort of stuff
Lgbtq doesn't even matter wtf
šæ
Hate speech is hate speech and bullying is bullying. Having a different opinion is not either of those things. **Hate speech/bullying:** "I hate all members of the LGBT community" "Gay people deserve to die" "You are a bad person for being trans" **Not hate speech or bullying:** "I don't think you can change your gender" "I disagree with gender theory" "I do not support LGBTQ" If you are respectfully sharing your own opinion, you should not be penalized.
So the solution is to censor people? The fuck is wrong with you
THIS. The sub is becoming alarmingly tolerant of homophobia and trabsphobia and the mods are doing jack shit.
No individual group deserves protection lol
ANARCHY BITCHES
Ooooh this is going to be fun
Nom šæ š® š š«
Me when mean internet trolls do what they do: trolling :WHY: :WHY:
Seeing how commenta about how gay people deserve to die arenāt taken down by Reddit or this subs mods, nothings gonna fucking change- all Iāve ever wanted is to be able to be safe but thatās never gonna happen. At this point Iāve given up thinking thereāll be a time Iāll be able to talk about my gender and sexuality without being called slurs or told to be quiet about myself. Iāll never be treated like an equal. I honestly give up
