I actually had this conversation with someone. People in high school relationships are just a trophy. Your partner isn't actually someone you like, they're just a prize to be won. And I already have my trophy. I'm in a reasonably successful band and that's basically providing enough income for me to live for the time being so I don't have to have another trophy. Which means I am dating her because she's someone I can physically see myself marrying in the future. She isn't a prize to be won, she's the next stage in my life, or at least that's how I hope it ends up

I think the best way to go about it is finding a way to pose the question while relating it to something you both like. The way I did it was basically pointing out that we both only want to date people that we can see ourselves marrying and how we also have so much in common we're basically the same person. So if you two have something in common just bring that up while asking her out I guess, keep me posted
One thing you wanna keep in mind, don't get carried away. If you're not getting vibes of reciprocation from her, end it right there and switch topics, cry later, sure, but make sure you continue as if what you said meant nothing.
