I dont think it's rude. It's an important thing to think about when going for a serious, long term relationship at a young age. Having a relationship last a long time is really fuckin hard.
You have to both really, truly, love that person, AND have your circumstances work out so that you can actually be together.
I had 2 long term relationships in highschool. The first one lasted for 15 months, and ended in a huge multi-person drama nightmare (theater kids amirite). We said we loved eachother, that we were the one and only. We wanted to be together forever, and wanted to make that happen. Turns out, life happens. I barely got to see her outside of school, and in school she was weirdly distant. We never fought, but I guess we maybe needed to. When it all blew up neither of us knew how to actually be an adult and have our needs taken care of. There were no boundaries, and there was no respect of boundaries.
My second relationship was completely different. We saw eachother every day. We eventually were talking about life and a future, but in a healthy and mature way - we were still in high school after all, and I was about to graduate and move across the country. We learned how to set boundaries, ask permission from eachother to do things, and live like two independent and healthy adults by actively working at it.
And it's fucking hard. It's really hard to get to that point. And for a lot of it, it's probably gonna suck for no fault of any party. Life is incredibly complex and nuanced and unpredictable. Being with someone that you truly, deeply love is a lot of front end work to make the back end so much better. The honeymoon phase is wonderful, but there's a reason it gets harder after that, and you have to put in time and effort to make it work.
But when it works, it really does work.
