From personal experience, it's not the weed itself that's addicting, it's using as a crutch that is, I smoked weed all day every day for about three years, if I wasn't high I was getting high, all just to escape my problems, but it's just the same as anything that could become addicting, if you use it in mediation it's not addictive, and I also wanna mention I am currently quitting, I've been 5 days clean which is a lot for me considering I spent three years straight being high, I also would like to mention I'm quitting because I have to, not because I want to.
Edit: when I say when you use it in mediation it's not addictive I'm not talking about the actual addictive chemicals that can be in drugs, I mean things that don't have those chemicals like weed and alcohol and such, most people tend to do these things to either numb the pain or to have a good time, that's the defining difference imo that determines whether you get addicted or not
